Please note : This review is being posted in exchange for receiving the case at no charge.
Yes, I know this forum is littered with reviews of the Poetic Affinity case, but heck, I received one as well and want to share my thoughts too. Feel free to move along if you're not interested.
I’ve been using a Poetic Affinity case for about 5 days now. The nice folks at Poetic sent it in exchange for this review. First things first; here is an imgur album with a bunch of pics I took, in no particular order.
http://imgur.com/a/OJjZ0
My first impression upon opening the package was very positive. Base on the pics on Amazon, I really didn’t think a clear case like this would be very appealing to me. However, it really looks awesome on the phone and increases my grip on the phone exponentially. I love the look of the naked 6P, but I lived in fear of dropping the damn thing as it’s so freaking smooth and thin. This case completely solved that issue. It has very grippy ridges on the perimeter and getting the phone out of my pocket is no longer a risky maneuver.
Based on the Amazon pics, I thought the black frame and accents would look bad. I couldn’t have been more wrong. They break up the giant expanse of aluminum and offer more gripping surface on the back side of the phone, which is critical for one-handed use.
The button feel is excellent. Before getting this case, I occasionally had a problem finding the right button. With the case, however, the buttons are easy to find and offer a very positive and reassuring click when pressing them.
Both the headphone and USB cutouts seem to be sized very well and easily accommodated every plug I tested. All the mic and sensor cutouts also seem to be sized and placed correctly. I haven’t had any issues with taking photos, making calls or recording video. All in all, this case is well designed and executed.
Now, no case is perfect and this one has a couple things that might bug you. The stylized “P” logo sits right on top of the “s” in the Nexus logo and kinda bugs me a little. Clearly, this is not a functional problem and doesn’t affect the case’s ability to protect your phone. The other issue is more of a concern down the road and not right now. I’m not sure how well the clear plastic will hold up over time. Hopefully it stays crystal clear like it is right now and doesn’t turn yellow with time.
Conclusion: Based solely on the enhanced grip and button feel, I’m completely sold on this case. I would happily pay the asking price were I suddenly to need another one. No, it’s not perfect, but it’s close enough for me. Thanks again to Poetic for the opportunity to check out their product.
Aside from it being a very ugly case, I really dislike its branding. The one on the bottom near the USB-C port is fine, but those other two are just not necessary.

I actually like the design of the case, but I agree about the branding. I've talked to someone from Poetic, and they are going to redesign the branding based on the feedback.
To each his own, for sure. I didn't like the looks of it either based on the pics in their listing, but somehow it's different in person. Regardless, it functions well in a way that works for me and that's all I could ask for in a case.

What people will do for a free case. If you post a review on Amazon, like I am sure they expect you to do, you need to explicitly state that you received the item for free for you to review.

I certainly understand this sentiment, however were the case not up to my expectations and standards, I would not have stated otherwise.

I apoloigize for coming across the wrong way. I didnt mean that you gave a good review for the circumstance. I just wanted to convey that it should be clearlhy stated that the item was received for free in return for an honest review. You will see many "professional" reviewers state this as well.

Thanks for the review, ugly as sin.
Will there be any skins for the Pixel C?
I contacted dbrand and they stated that they don't have any plans unless they start getting a lot of interest and no word from Slickwraps?
I like the skins for a little protection from scratches etc.
Maybe we can get some folks requesting them from XDA?
Thanks,
-Jason
I got the same answer from Dbrand. Much disappoint.
Got the same answer from Dbrand. Hopefully more people will contact them asking for Pixel C skins so we can get them.
Made my own... it's a simplest one ever...
Sent an email as well... I don't plan on buying a case (there really aren't that many available at the moment anyway) so a skin would be a much welcome addition for minor scratch protection (back), and looks of course.
I'm assuming the whole "Google Store exclusive" thing about the Pixel C (at least in Canada, not sure about US?) and the somewhat low level of enthusiasm around the device might be the reason why we're not seeing many third party accessories, including skins, being made. I'd be curious to know how many Pixel Cs were sold worldwide in its first month of availability or so.
Also sent Dbrand an email and they said the same thing
As long as more and more people ask there's a chance at least.
Fireflex maybe but they ship from UK

Slickwraps said they are not adding it.
Here is what Dbrand said today,
"Thanks for reaching out. We’re still on the fence about supporting the Pixel C. We haven’t gotten enough requests to begin prototyping and production immediately, but we’ve gotten enough to still have it on the table as an option.
*
If and when we do decide to support it, we’ll be sure to let you know. Email us back if there’s anything else we can help with!"
So keep up the request and maybe it'll happen.

this does not really surprise me, as unfortunate as it is, just look at the traffic on this forum as well as others for the pixel c. probably had as many posts total for the pixel c in a month as the nexus 6p had in a day.
This has come up quite a lot during my search for a skin for my Pixel C are any of my American mates familiar with them to verify quality.
http://search.store.yahoo.net/yhst-38148694942392/cgi-bin/nsearch?vwcatalog=yhst-38148694942392&query=pixel+c&x=23&y=19&.autodone=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.skinomi.com%2F
I have been hoping some of those products would show up on amzreviewtrader, as I have reviewed other skins for skinomi in the past. Haven't seen anything yet tho. I was really hoping dbrand would step up, as I like how well their skins line up with the edges of devices. I may pull the trigger if nothing shows up soon.

My package was damaged and the skin was missing from the box. I haven't ordered another one.
Skinomi sent me a replacement skin after noting a review where I mentioned my package was damaged and missing the product. Props to them as I didn't ask for another. Anyway, received the black carbon and have it installed. Everything is cut out nicely and goes on well. Looks great on the C also. Helps to use a hair dryer to heat the corners some so it will fully lay down. All in all its a nice product, not real thick but average I would say for a skin and worth the purchase.

Looks good! I bought the same one.
Any issues with the corners peeling up a tad? I used a hair dryer as suggested and it seemed to help 3 of the corners but I got paranoid about heat near the camera I'll probably never use. lol
they only do for tablet ? how about the keyboard? anyone can confirm

Same here.
What is not clear to me, or depicted as far as I can tell, is how the buttons are handled?
Judging by pictures it looks like the fingerprint cutout is quite narrow, and given the overall thickness of this case it looks like one will have to dive his finger deep into that hole in order to unlock the phone. Can you comment on this?
I would also like to see the buttons as this detail is missing on the pictures.
Other than that the cases look good.
Wow. Too cool! I'm gonna definitely have to get one of these soon. Thanks for the share op!

They're fully covered by the case's TPU edges for extra protection, but still easily pressed. I hope these pictures help, but just shout if not - I can always get our photographer to take some better ones in the studio for you.

We've tested the case thoroughly here and found no problems with the access to the finger print scanner. The sensor itself seems to be so efficient that when holding the phone in front of you the tip of the index finger is more than sufficient to unlock it, and we've found this just as easy to do with the case on as without the case.
As per my previous post, you can see some extra pictures of the buttons here:

Very nice indeed.

Working on it as we speak @bench_strength Will let you know as soon as the new photos are up on our website.
If you could please post more photos in the hand like you had of the front and back and sides please. Anyway possible to include nexus engraving by custom request? Other companies offer this without posting on their website to go around copyright issues

Ordered a cedar case, and excited to receive it! Don't see many people with wood phone cases out on the street, so I'm glad that you've developed something for this phone.
Like @nexicon I, too, would have liked to have had the Nexus logo engraved by custom request. Toastmade, dbrand, and Slickwraps all offer this option (Toast by custom request) so I'm curious as to whether there's some especially obnoxious, UK-specific law preventing that?

Unfortunately whilst we can't speak for other companies, engraving the Nexus logo onto the case without Google's permission would be enough to constitute an infringement of Google's Nexus trademark and so (for the time being at least) it's not something that we're able to offer, even by custom request.

If you e-mail Carved customer support, you'll hear from them that they have no plans to make a case for the Nexus 6P.
Furthermore, both Carved and Cover-Up have two different versions of their cases: the Slim/Snap series (respectively) and the Traveler/Explorer series (respectively). If you compare the products (for their iPhone 6 lineup) they're literally identical (even down to the design of the rubber surrounding the wood back; I wouldn't even be surprised if they sourced the exact same components and materials). The former happens to be more minimalistic, while the latter offers more protection.
At least Cover-Up decided on making a case for the N6P; they're just only offering it in the Explorer version, since it's more versatile. Personally, I'm glad for this decision because the Slim/Snap series leave the top and bottom edges exposed, meaning less coverage against scratches and drops.
Ya thanks to know

Our #WoodBack cases for 6P are now ready! All pre-orders will ship later on today.
I have uploaded a very quick video of the case here. Please excuse the poor quality of the video, I hope to get our in-house photographer to create something a little better later this week but wanted to give you a sneak peek.
I've also added some extra photos. (This particular case is Bamboo.)
As ever, any questions just shout .
The link you provided directs to an old video of the iPhone 6 and galaxy S6.
The case seems to be as thick as the thickest part of the phone, I guess it's not possible to shape the wood to adhere the the phone's shape?
Is there a gap below the camera where the phone is thinner?
I've been keeping an eye on this case from the Ballistic Case company. It's call the Ballistic Tough Jacket. It's finally been released. Here's a link and a picture. It's only for people who don't use the fingerprint scanner because it looks like it's covered. I'm excited about it because i want my power and volume buttons covered.
https://www.goballisticcase.com/shop/lg/lg-v10/tough-jacket/
Also, the company decided not to even manufacture the Jacket Maxx version of their case. If anybody else is interested, here's link for the Maxx case they made for the G4. I spoke with someone at the company and they said that there wasn't enough interest in the case from the carriers to produce it. I'm going to put a link for their email address. If enough of us are interested, and shoot them an email, I'm sure they'll produce it.

Would you think it'll be easy to cut out the finger print sensor covering to get it to work?
Yes....the rubber piece will come right out or you can cut it with a razor blade
Thank you for your reply. This may appear amusing for some, but the ballistic case seller on Amazon says the finger print sensor will still work while covered with silicone rubber.
So this thing is available?
I've used Ballistic's cases since the G2 and love them. Always used the Maxx version. I like how the case covers the rear buttons and I really like the holster. I have the V10 now and emailed Ballistic today and they say they have no plans to make the Maxx version for the V10..... bummer.
Google keeps rejecting the photos i choose, so does anyone know of any other companies doing photo cases? my google searches all loop around to thier own website.
Orzly fusion and ringke fusion are both capable of putting your own photo in the case. They are both TPM edge with polycarbonate backs.
The ringke even comes with a template to use to cut your photo to the correct size. The orzly has a clear film over the PC and I used that as a template to cut my photo.

What message do you get? Might just be your file size, should be able to edit that down
There's also Case-Custom.com
I have no experience of that site, I found it from a reddit complaining of Google's false positively calling most images copyrighted.
Google's live case is a PITA. They have rejected my company logo that I've made for copyright. I opened a ticket with them at some point... At the end, I've managed to get one to go through from my phone. Got lucky, I guess, try it.
Now for the review: I'm not sure about it. The image itself came out just right, but the case... I got this so I won't be upset on covering the phone, but the cover ain't much. Like a super slim case, I don't foresee this protecting much and it feels like the case will probably crack on impact. For $40 I ain't testing this.
The extra button is extremely difficult to press. Just apply shizload of pressure and I think this ain't the best execution.
I'll post a full review later
