Volume down, Bixby and power when turned off. Then let go of only power with the other 2 down after seeing first screen. I was stuck there also. Will take you too download mode to reflash (and yes. You need to)
Took me forever to figureit out

ODIN to stock without power button working? Is it possible?

Sorry for the long title but it states my predicament. Basically my power button is done and I can't boot into recovery anymore. It just is a endless cycle of reboots(vibrates everyone 15 seconds or so). I even tried to enter download mode, which it does but than restarts the bootloop issue. Anyhow, I've never used ODIN so someone please fill me in. I want to ODIN back to stock because it's my last hope and basically I can't get into recovery anymore anyway. But do I need to use my power button to ODIN? Also what if I can't get into ODIN mode because it just wants to continue to reboot. Any help? I'm at a lost here.

Moved to Q and A. I suggest pulling your battery for at least thirty minutes or maybe an hour. Then put the battery back in(do not power on) and plug the phone into your charger and allow it to charge overnight. From what you have said the power button does indeed work but you have done something to your phone causing a boot loop. In the morning search XDA for Odin procedures (there are a plethora of them on XDA) and attempt your Odin to stock. If the phone continues to boot loop I hope you have insurance... I did this to my LG Optimus once... And couldn't save it...

It does "work" but not correctly. Apparency its a known issue and called SDS. basically the way it acts is that when I press the button, the phone
Is acting as if I pressed it twice. So I press it to turn screen off, screen comes right back on. Long press power button for reboot menu, flashes, dissapears and than comes right back. This I believe is why I can't boot into recovery or download mode. Not that the phones bricked, but the phone is having trouble recognizing power button hits.
So my last try was to Odin back to stock just to see if that helps. But when I hold the buttons down to get into download mode or select it in reboot menu, it boots into it real quick(I see download mode appear on screen) but than immediately starts looping. So when I use Odin, will it automatically boot into download mode for me? What about mobile Odin?

I had the same problem With my s3... It was out of warranty so I sent it to mobile tech videos to have the power switch repaired. It's been great ever since. I realize that doesn't really Answer your question about Odin, just figured I'd chime in with what I had to do. I was afraid to attempt to Odin or flash anything before the repair bc in my mind the phone believed the power button was being pressed repeatedly and that would make it interrupt the flash.
Also if you're under warranty, Samsung will most likely fix it despite being rooted. Mobile Tech Videos sounds like a great option too if you're out of warranty, glad to see there's an alternative way to get it fixed.

I don't have the phone in question but for my Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S, T-mo variant) if you press and hold the Volume Up button while plugging in the charger or say your computer's USB port the phone will boot into download mode. Not sure if it will work for the S3 though. Hopefully it does! :fingers-crossed:
Also, for my work around, I've mapped the Volume up button within ROMs to 'POWER WAKE' to replace the power button. It's not needed but its an easy way to reboot to recovery if its implemented in the Roms power menu. Occasionally the phone will crash or the battery may die. If I'm at home, that's an easy fix, just boot up download mode and flash a kernel/modem/recovery via odin and make sure auto reboot is selected. The phone should boot, granted there are no errors. The only problem I have is when it crashes or battery dies and I'm not at home I can't turn on the phone. If anyone knows a way around powering on or booting into recovery without the use of the power button or odin/download mode I will be eternally grateful. I'm try to get my Vibrant in working order for my father whose never had a Smart phone. I myself have upgraded to the s4 and am glad I stuck with what I knew instead of getting the HTC One. =]

Read this thread. Power button issues on S2 might help and save you time and money. Or if you want to get into download mode use adb.. "adb reboot download " or can be done in terminal.

[Q] GT-P6800 - can only boot to download - help!

My GT P6800 was working fine a few days ago. Charged it fully and went on holidays. Went to turn it on, and no activity. Plugged it in to charge, the battery icon came on screen and I let it charge fully. I then tried to turn it on again, and it still wouldn't turn on. I've now found that the only thing I can do is boot into download mode. Vol Down and Power brings up the Download Mode menu, when I press Vol Up, it enters Download Mode, when I press Vol Down to reboot, the screen blanks and nothing happens. I've tried pressing the power button for up to 30 seconds - nothing. I've tried entering recovery mode using Vol Up and Power buttons - nothing.
I entered download mode and tried to install ClockworkMod recovery using Odin, but once Odin had finished and "rebooted" the tablet, the screen went blank and nothing happened.
I'm happy to blow this away, install any ROM etc., would just like to get it working. It's been a while since I last rooted/flashed it, but I believe it's still running 4.04, and was rooted some time ago.
Any tips very welcome!
Try flash a full stock firmware package with Odin.
Try with your current firmware version first.
Try with HC 2nd.

Hmmm... I installed P6800XXLQ2_P6800OXALQ2_ATO obtained from Sammobile using ODIN, had "Automatically reboot" ticked, and once the flashing finished, the device didn't reboot. I then tried all the power button options, and the only one that gave a response was entering download mode. I then entered download mode, and let it sit there for a while while I did a bit more research, and then I noticed the screen went blank. I've now tried to turn it on again, and now get no response at all. Will try to plug it in to charge for a bit and see if it responds.
Any other ideas?
Ok, not sure what's happened here. Plugged it in, it showed the charge icon, and then booted up. Nothing has been wiped, it still shows as 4.0.4. I'm wondering if for some reason it was actually booting, but the screen wasn't coming on properly, and therefore it's run the battery down. It's now showing as charging, and the battery currently has 0% charge. Will let it charge for a while, then try root, install CWM and flash 4.1.2....
thanks for your help.
I have the same problem. I can enter only in download mode, if I press Vol Up I still see Samsung logo, no any actions. I've tried to install CWM, stock firmware, PIT with re-partition. No success. Need your help, please.
If you'se can get to download mode... using Odin, Flash stock Honeycomb..3.2...
If you get that (HC) up and running, then do the steps to up and up to JB...
good luck

If it just froze and rebooted the recovery should be fine.
Pull the battery for a minute. Insert it, then hold both volumes down together (the whole rocker), then hold the power button until it vibrates then release the power button. Continue to hold the volumes until the recovery is up. Restore a backup or do a clean reflash.

Exactly, all i need is download mode but when i enter it it vibrate loops after a press volume up.
when i enter download mode i see a blue screen then it boots and vibrates, why is it doing that
When the screen turns blue, does it start off black, and then start becoming pixelated and end up blue? Or does it just turn blue immediately? I had the same issue where I bricked my phone while I was using 4.3, and tried reverting back to stock... Sometimes, you cannot get into download mode if the phone is plugged in or not plugged in... Try both ways to see if you get any different results! Also try removing the battery for 30 seconds and then putting it back in... When you go back to stock, make sure it is ICS and not GB! You only get stuck in a boot loop if you do GB!

Hard brick won't boot at all. Even though it's not booting properly it still boots which means there is hope. Try going in to download mode plugged into USB with the battery pulled. If it works Odin back to stock. If you get stuck in a boot loop after flashing stock, don't panic. Just boot to recovery and wipe your cache's and reboot. Let us know if you need anything or resolve the issue.

[Q] Power button broke.

Hello,
I just want to check on the best way to get my phone back to stock before sending back. The phone is on now but I don't want to risk turning it off and not getting it back on in it's rooted state with a custom ROM. If I do a re-boot and hold down on the volume with the menu down will it go into download mode? Can someone check without using the power button?
I see the another option is the mobile odin. The last option could be to flash stock rom, unroot, lock bootloader. I want to minimize risk here.
Thanks
I think I am SOL now. I tried to boot into download it kept turning off. I pulled the battery and it came back on but every time I get to download mode it turned off. SO then I try the mobile oden and what does that do? Tried to boot into oden and it flashed it's own kernel so it won't boot fully until it finishes it's flash. I try to boot into recovery and it just turns off again the same as download because the power button is stuck on.
I took the phone apart and pulled the outside power button out and put the battery back in and it immediately boots to download mode and turns off again because its stuck on.
Worst part as soon as you put in the battery it boots to download and it says custom right on it. Any other ideas? If I disable the power button being stuck on how will I turn it on? Man, 4 droid phones rooted and I think this might be the one that takes me down
Mine is stuck, so when I put the battery in it will turn on automatically. I flash about once or twice a month so what i do is pull out the battery and as soon as i put it back in I hold the button combo to which i want to go to. Vol up and home for recovery or volume down for download mode. You should check out the unroot method in the Stickies
I got it now.

Literally bricked my S6, help required.

I wanted to start new on my S6 so I did a factory reset but all the photos seemed to still be there so I went into TWRP and wiped everything, including /system. Then I went ahead and installed the firmware for the G920F and attempted to flash it using Odin 3.10.6 and it didn't work. The blue box appeared, but it would always fail trying to flash the md5 to "AP". I also noticed Windows kept giving me errors detecting my phone even though I had the Samsung drivers installed. (everything was obtained through xda) But I ignored it and assumed it was only because I was in Download mode. Now I reinstall the drivers and still nothing so I give up and instead of flashing stock ROM, I go for a custom ROM. The A8 port. So now I hold down power and home and it doesn't turn off... Download mode is still there and display is on. Isn't the hard reset a hardware thing that software cant mess with because I literally cannot get the display to even turn off after holding just power, holding home+power and home+power+volume (tried both up and down, not both at once though) but nothing. Even for 30 seconds, no luck. So I really need help now. This was way easier with a S4 but I'm having so many issues with the S6 it is insane. Could someone link me a guide on how to flash stock ROM after I wiped and reformatted /system, /cache and /data to F2FS? Thanks
This is pretty much the total opposite of "literally bricked"
I had this same issue 2 weeks ago with my G928 S6 Edge+ Press and hold Power + Volume Down and hold until your device shows the Samsung screen. It probably will not go past the Samsung screen. When it doesn't, press and hold Power + Volume Down again until you are booting to Download Mode. Next, switch to a different version of Odin to perform the flash of the factory firmware. This is what I had to do to get my Odin flash to pass and my S6 Edge+ to boot normally. Hope this helps. Good luck. Let us know the outcome or if you have issues or need more help.

Turns out I had to hold down volume DOWN + home + power, no other combination seemed to work. After that I installed Smart Switch and booted into Download Mode again to install the stock firmware. It automatically chose the correct firmware and everything is fine now so I didn't have to mess with ODIN. Weird how holding home+power or just the power button does nothing and how simple flashing the stock firmware actually is.
Glad you got it worked out. Good job
