I thought the fuze had a camera that rivaled the iphone 4 but apparently not.. I'm rather disappointed in the videocamera quality especially. The video that I took with it lacks fps and is quite laggy. The iphone 4 just killed it..
Here is a sample of what a fuze video is like (taken on my touch pro and friend put it on his channel; I'm not trying to promote views either)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrnkDwu4yDI
Is there any tweaking that can be done to improve quality? I have my videocamera on max resolution settings already or should I have left it stock?
You do realize that the fuze is a phone several years old, right? HTC never advertised the camera on the Fuze being anywhere near the quality of what the iPhone 4 claims...

Yeah I know but is there anything I can do to improve it?
There is a simple trick for FPS that works in many situations - lower the brightness to zero

Setting the resolution lower will yield higher-quality shots, but reduce the size of them. There have been tweaks for the camera, but the only one I can find/remember is the Panoramic shot one :/

I find that it works better in good light; I get pretty good video outdoors in daylight. The quality goes down the crapper in lower light situations. For the most part, I'm pretty happy with the video quality, I've gotten a lot of solid videos with it.
Hi you could have a look at some of the registry tweaks found on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638. Not all of the camera tweaks found on that thread apply but some like tweak 62. Improve Camera Recording Quality of MPEG4-VGA Videos
or 63. Unlock Additional Video Recording Formats + a few other may apply. It will require you to use a registry editor though. Hope this helps a little.
I tried #63 but I'm afraid to try #62 because the values differ so much and the folder doesn't exist
Hey guys, I just got my nexus 5 for Christmas, I'm coming from a nexus s, it's not rooted or anything but my video camera is a lot dimmer than my regular photos, I've attached pictures of what I mean, I took them at night in poor lighting.
Is anyone else's like this?

Usually it's due to a higher frame rate than regular pictures. When you record videos it's either at 30fps or 60fps therefore less light can be captured per frame in video mode.
I know that but there's no option to change it, is it a hardware fault Because the audio is weird as well, it's either completely silent or jittery

This is a known issue that first showed up in 4.4.1. Basically, this phone consistently shoots 30fps video in any lighting, whereas a lot of phones max out at 24fps in good lighting and drop frames all over the place when the lighting is bad.
In order for the N5 to shoot such smooth video, the exposure time for each frame is really short. Since the exposure time is so short, it doesn't take in much light and it looks dim (if you're in good light, it looks fine).
I was really annoyed by it at first when 4.4.1 and then 4.4.2 hit, but in practice I've found the smoothness of the video to be well worth the tradeoff. Most of my videos I take are still usable even with the dimness.
I see, thank you for the answer. I don't suppose you know what's up with the audio?
When there isn't much noise, it's completely silent, no background noise see or anything, but then when someone starts talking, it might jitter or a second and then be fine, I'll try posting a sample later but until then, any ideas?

The noise cancellation is over-aggressive. It's something that we're probably going to have to deal with until Google fixes it in a future release.

How come it does it on sphere and pano too?
With average evening indoor light, video, sphere, and pano is worthless.

After purchasing the Mi4c and waiting for it for three weeks, I keenly unboxed it and started tweaking the living hell out of it. Among others I installed several Google apps, the google account manager (switch off sync in China as it will draaaain your battery), and MIUI 5.10.16 dev. So far so good.
However, when I tried the camera, the online shots of which were very promising, I was so disappointed I ordered the Nexus 5X straight away. In any circumstance that isn't sunny, the rear-facing camera will perform horribly. What I mean is that, unless you stabilize the phone securely with two hands, any shot in a fluorescent light or otherwise slightly dim environment will result in heavy blur. As if you were shaking the phone while you took the shot. Comparing with the Nexus 5 (2013), where you could take a shot from your wrist while riding a bicycle and still have an acceptable result.
Can anyone else confirm? Do I have the worse of two sensors, is it just the tiny objective, or is it software-related? Or is it just what I should learn to accept from a 1500 RMB phone?
Hello mate,
this is what you should learn from a 1500 RMB phone, camera sux as soon as conditions are not optimum. Tried a lot of apps, but the results is still the same. Some apps will focus better though (lenovo super camera v5 for instance).
Nevertheless, a part from the camera, the phone is way better with CM12.1 than the nexus 5X which handle apps horribly again... Very slow to open and reload apps. Which is kind of a big deal.
upload some pics if possible..
let's see it...
Maybe the camera app just sucks hard? You should try others to compare...
These are all shot from the wrist with minimal effort at stabilizing, the way I used to snap pictures with my Nexus 5
Try to take a few indoor shots with a steady hand. It could be that the software uses a quite long shutter time, which results in a blurry shot if the hand isn't steady.
The second step would be: manually set the shutter time according to your preference.
Sure, steadying the phone entirely will work. But that's not really a solution, as you often take a quick snap, the device is light and therefore in almost all situations your hand will be unsteady. It felt like the nexus5 was able to use shorter shutter times in low-light conditions and took steady pictures almost all of the time.
potentially a software problem; after flashing CM Rom the camera improved significantly (also switched from N5 to 4C)
agreed, it got significantly better with the CM rom. Still fairly noisy and a little blurry though. Looks like the camera app (I use Google Camera 4.0) actually takes its time to focus rather than attempting to deliver the quickest shot possible.

He already has, yesterday
Maybe we can have some more samples from another camera app ? We know you have the Sony sensor now, it could be interesting to see if someone has a Samsung one and how is it different in picture quality.
Here are some, as your see low light ones aren't very good and blurred. But even the sunlight ones are a little grainy and not perfectly crisp. Sony sensor.

So, i'm really very confused now... someone says it is very great (e.g. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63730763&postcount=44) and you say it is bad and open a bug!
I would prefer great camera and battery over LTE band 20, but here i don't understand yet if mi4c have or not great camera... Can you please help me understand? Thanks
Well... Depends by user.. 50% say camera is awesome 50% not - You can see something like this on many phones
Hi gang,
Took the beast out for some shooting today.
What I love:
The camera software. All the settings, pro-mode, effects and stuff are really nice.
Camera is very fast. Very unlike some reviews claiming this is the slowest camera out there.
What I don't like:
Pic sharpness. Most pics come out with some water paint effect. Backgrounds, distance shots all come out washed. Macro shots are sort of OK but zooming in, washed out to some extend.
So I played around with various settings, differed sizes, all the same free post-processing effects.
I compared with similar shots I look last week with the old LG G4. Well, they are 200% better. Lets hope this is a processing issue that will be fixed with the next update.
What are your experiences?

Don`t forget we are running pre-release software, an update to smooth things up will come soon. Besides that i don`t recognise your issues on my device so far.
I am on B110. Is this a pre-release software?
I have a major complain regarding camera in video. I think is related to the stabilization. Almost all my video in FHD looks like waves. The image is very shaky. This is my second device as the first one was replaced. Anyone else observed this?
I really hope can be solved in an update.

It's not super bad, some shots are OK but comparing apples with apples, the M9 is not on par with other recent top brand products.

Just tested it to see if it happens here too. Indeed when filming the image stutters on the screen (well, it's night here so not ideal conditions) but when playing it it looks nice, no shakes at all. That was at 1080p, 60fps. At 1080p, 30fps it looks smooth on screen and also when playing it.
Anyone noticed that the hdr mode is always on in bright light?
You will get the same picture with or without hdr, and that's something not good at all.
Is there a setting that turn hdr off other than using pro mode?
Just upgraded today to b126 and looks promising just checked it's 6x zoom and it is great

So, i have had mate 9 for 2 weeks now, not impressed, when i compare it to the galaxy s7 edge, it cannot compete, the galaxy s7 edge wins hands down...., also, the galaxy s8 looks to be worth waiting for, march/april release will see a great phone after their note phones needed washing out with water, lol.
Also, i wanted to ask you, i have the MHA-L00 china version and my Hi voice app only works in chinese, as does the music app, can you post and tell me if your international MHA-L29 has hi voice ((assistant app) and music app in english, if it does..., could i ask that you post the apk install files for these apps in english. As far as i am aware, Hi voice app is embedded into the system so may not be possible.
If possible, i wanted instructions to flash the international rom onto the chinese phone?

Well, I couldn't agree more still having an old good lg g3 by the hand for comparisons makes me angry and sad about mate9's picture quality... seriously thinking about selling the-brand-new-two-months-old phone and returning to LG RAW mode looks like the only hope, combined with snapseed it gives somehow sharper and nicer images.... my guess is that default JPG postprocessing seriously sucks hopefully huawei will fix it in some future updates...

I think you're kidding right? There is no way a G3 will come close.
?
Well, the first pic is from the G3, full picture quality, automode, no tweaking
Second pic is from Mate 9 full picture quality, automode, no tweaking.
The V10.... Is resting in peace . Will be getting a MoBo soon from aliexpress and reviving it though.
Hello,
A few weeks ago I've upgraded to EMUI 9.0.0.
The camera with EMUI 8 performed incredibly good, except for a few crashes when making extra long exposure shots.
Since the EMUI 9 upgrade I recognized several issues and drawbacks compared to EMUI 8.
1. To get the same nice colors and lights, I need to enable "AI", but at the same time this makes the camera much slowlier with shooting. Which makes it unusable for quick snapshots of moving targets.
2. Once in AI mode the picture resolution cannot be changed anymore. It only allows for full resolution. I loved the 18:9 format.
3. OIS seems to work way worse (or not at all) in AI mode. Maybe this is correlated to the previous topic, that full resolution is chosen automatically in AI mode. Having a final pic of full resolution I think it would leave no margins for OIS. For sure with EMUI 9 it is much harder to get clear shots.
4. Panorama mode: Pictures are almost impossible to get them sharp and several times the panorama shot was not able to be stopped/completed. Instead the app had to be closed and the panorama repeated.
Did anyone else experience similar behavior and/or has a solution to it? I'm already thinking about downgrading to EMUI 8 as for the bad performance of the camera app.
Thanks for any inputs!
IKR. I am experiencing the same thing. Quality of photos has reduced a lot and face unlock is slower.
I made similar observations concerning reduced photo quality over the course of updates for my Huawei Mate 9. It took me several downgrade attempts with different firmware releases to get it back to the photo quality it delivered when it was new.

One could be forgiven for thinking that they do it intentionally to push their new models.
I have heard others complain.
I don't think the quality changed on mine
C675 b190.
Here's a picture of my week old kittens
Looks good to me.. But then I don't expect professional quality from a cell phone.
They make specific cameras for that.
This is so sweet. I love taking photos of my 6 years old tomcat Louis too. But I have to be quick, he is always sceptical about it ;-
Though your sample looks really cute it should definitely be sharper. Your phone is capable of taking photographs with amazing technical quality, in good lightning conditions often regardless of its firmware, but then again your sample picture could have suffered from the forums compression during upload.

Facebook does the same.. All my photos.. Even with quick shot.. Volume shutter.. Pictures come out good.
Night shots.. Yeah they suck
Not being.. Ya know
But Asians putting out bad cameras?
Got to be trolling.
Anyway, I decided not to update my Honor View 10 anymore to avoid the risk of quality degradation as I experienced with my Mate 9.
Btw. It is interesting seeing a phone camera perform without the bells an wistles of the vendor software optimizations. Just try any other camera app.
