Google Camera: Full Portrait Mode and more! [Updated : 23rd March 2018]

Both rear and front cameras are rocking with Fully Working Portrait Mode, HDR+ and more!
Recommended Android Version is 8.0+. But you can try on other Android versions as well.

2. Not sure about other devices, tested and working on my Redmi Note 4 (MIDO).

4. My Redmi Note 4 is running AOSPExtended Custom Oreo 8.1 based ROM, and its working. (May or may not work with MIUI, all Custom Nougat ROMs)

it will work on 7.1 +

Front camera superb results...
But rear facing camera is not as good as with other versions, still acceptable.

Can anybody point me to the right version for AOSP 7.1.2 ROM's? I am currently using AEX 4.6 Final build released on mid November.

Thank you! It's working perfectly fine on my Mido AEX 8.1. Just one problem though, it crashed every time I open slow motion. Beside that it's great!

Slow motion is not working. Read the op.

Working Google Camera Mod by BSG

I've tried a bunch of google camera ports, so far this is the only one which has everything working for this phone - front and back portrait, HDR+, slow motion 120fps, etc.
This was made by XDA developer BSG and not me, I'm only sharing a link to his work.
(Enable camera2api before using these ports)

Also best settings (AFAIK):
BSG Settings:
-Old Style -> Nexus (so front can works with and without portrait mode)
-Portrait Mode Always Active (So portrait mode appears instead of tilt shift) NEW ONE (5.3) HAS IT ACTIVE BY DEFAULT
Panorama Resolution: High
Majority of the other settings you can play around based on your preference.

I can confirm this is working on resurrection remix.

If bsg's mod isn't working then try arnova's latest gcam there front cam won't work, front portrait will work. And if you'd use v7beta9, disable "camera.enable_micro" in developer settings....then everything except slow motion will work.....

Why are all camera apps recognising the front cam as only 5mp instead of 20mp?

Maybe the issue is with camera2api, 'cause on camera2api open camera was detecting front cam as a5mp sensor but when I whitelisted it for using HAL1 only it detected it as a 20.1 mp sensor, so it might be an issue related to HAL3 too...

It's working, and if you'd use old type device configuration then front cam will work with portrait mode too, but on new type device configuration it works for only portrait mode....

I'm using bsg's latest mod, i just selected old style(nexus) configuration in bsg settings and enabled always enabled portait mode....

This is not the miui camera shipped with the redminote5pro, and quality isn't as good as gcam, lacks a few features, but it works.

I am on latest official MIUI build. Rooted with magisk.
the camera app does not open, it says- CAMERA KEEPS STOPPING.
please inform how to enable camera 2 API from build prop ?

Camera collection v2.0: no root needed for AOSP based roms
- Mi A1 Camera
- Mi A2 Camera
- Google Camera
- Snap Camera (Lineage)
- Snap2 Camera (CyanogenMod)
NOT a exclusive Magisk version, it's system flash:
- Magisk provide portrait option on back camera (see above)
Mods by me :
-app launcher name (clear view of what camera u launch)
-app package name (avoid compatibility with another cam app like Gcam)
-authorization process (automatic without crash)
-icons

Everything is working perfectly. except in "MI stock camera" where the preview is streched vertically, but the photos are good.
BTW, (a noob question) what's the difference between Gcam and aosp original cam? I can't figure why people is preferring the first one!

Installation Procedure
Install Gcam from given link. (don't open it)
Go to settings/installed apps/Google Camera/Permissions (Give all persmissions) Enable System Modify Permission.
Now, Open Gcam/settings/save config./"Save a config by any name"
Go to your storage, Gcam/Config/And delete your config and paste the one which i have provided
Open Gcam "DOUBLE TAP BOTTOM BLACK BLANK SPACE" It will open a popup asking you to restore config/Select my config "TheSam.xml"
Fully restart the app (remove from recents)
And Magic has happened and everything is working.

Hmmm checksums of arnova latest and yours matched. So what changed not giving credit for others work is frowned upon in Xda mate and that config is virtually default

Thank for letting me know it bro, what i did was i installed many different developers versions around 15 and configured to make it stable. and tested each one. Then created a stable config, I will update the thread.

Try the default config. and slomo will crash, front video cam will crash, and also back will not work not sure about other features.

LOL slo MO works only at 120fps and no video cam crash here anyone can do it. It doesn't need development thread mate. Close this thread mate. I can say I tested all 24 devs gcam in that site and have configs for many of them. Does that mean I am a dev now?

I want to clear this guys, This is not a copy or any stolen work. I have given the credits to @Arnova8G2 in the thread and i configured it according to our device after testing it for hrs. If y'all keep replying that it is not working or you are stealing work. I will soon delete this thread i don't want any attention or anything. But atleast respect someone's work. AND FIRST READ REQUIREMENTS PROPERLY. ?

If your device running custom ROM and want to use MIUI camera, then you need to flash ANX camera

ANX camera does not support poco x3 yet. Can we still flash it?
I just flashed to pixel experience. However the camera is only working like it has 1 lens. How does everyone else get their camera working in full with other roms?

Dont worry, anx is janky. In telegram groups peeps are testing ways to fix problems. For now, 64mp doesnt work or video recording will be messedup if your phone goes into deepsleep. That is why i am stuck on miui, i use camera a lot...
