Considering that you have the 1GB RAM model, stock ROM might still be the best. Many custom ROMs are too heavy for just one GB of RAM. If you definitely want a custom ROM, you could try PureNexus. Looks quite slim and fast.

Lineage os 14.1 works amazing on 1 gb version. It's very stable and actually mine after tests got a little bit better score in antutu than the stock one. Facebook and messenger work very smooth and pleasant. Definitely I'd recommend lineage.

Which ROM Performs Better?

Hello Fellas, i wanna know wich ROM performs better in GAMES, the HO!NO!, the Ice&Fire, The FroyoMOD or Plain Cyanogen 7 ???
All those one, or any other that you know, in their latests versions of course
hope you can help me with that, Cheers
In my opinion 2.1 roms are the best for games and multitasking. Exept they have 30 fps cap. After them the froyo roms.

How about Cronos?

In my opinion, FroyoMOD by Luca is the best, stable, with many features and really fast!
that's right. FroyoMod is the best for milestone
Test one ROM each day, and make your own opinnion. I found CM7 the best, as kalbadan does a very good job, and updates the ROM very often.
to me, plain CM7 by kabaldan is the way. Standard, clean and well mantained. Obviously, it's good if you use your phone as a smartphone. If your primary intent is playing games, Froyo is a better choice
Why exactly Froyo is better than CM7 in games? I've played many games, of course there were some FCs, but generally I managed to play NFS Shift fluently, for example. I use Chainfire, as it helps many games to start.

There is much more free RAM in Froyo, as apposed to CM7 (Gingerbread).

Its rocking!
Unfortunately its no longer part of XDA bkz of some technical & legal problems
Sticked with CM7 supported by kabaldan.
+1 for CM7
I used MIUI us, MIUIandroid, MIUI Galnet, CM6, FroyoMod, CM7 and stock.
The best CM7.
I've tried CM7, MIUI and others but Telus Lite is the best. Light-weight and super stable, it's quite snappy as long as you don't use too heavy apps. And it looks good.
I vote for HO! NO! 7.1.5 . Finally a great stable fully working ROM. Before I be used MIUI and I had stability issues.

Telus lite is by far the best rom for the milestone. When i had it i had around 90mb of free ram. Only downside is that there is no flash as it is 2.1
I tried to port the new gmsil client, flash etc but fwiled since the laws of android api wont allow it :L

I was going to say latest HoNo, but wifi connection doesnt work, which is a huge negative....

So its between telus lite and HONO. How much free RAM on both? Which one is over clocked? I Don't prefer overcklocking.

is it only me or everyone? (lag in most games)

i usually feel lag in most of the 3d games like MC3 Fallen nation, nova 2,3 , asphalt 7 bla bla bla,,, and when i see videos on youtube running the same games with neo v , arc, desire HD, they look a lot smoother ,,
why does it lag on my desire s????
are you running stock Rom with sense? It was one of the reasons I rooted mine, solved the lag issue straight away.

Well if you're running the rom that's in your signature it's no surprise considering it's using the cm9 kernel which is still in alpha stages. You're not going to get the same performance on a rom that doesn't have the best drivers and optimized kernel compared to the stock gingerbread or stock sense ICS roms such as the incredible s rom that was ported over using our ICS 3.0 sense kernel. If you're using the stock rom then it could be that you're nearly full on memory or you have to many apps running. Those games are really resource heavy games and the desire s is only a 1ghz single core device. In today's standards that's becoming quite poor. But the games shouldn't be lagging too much. You're going to get lag on nova 3 and asphalt 7 because they are brand new so they will be optimized for dual core devices on ICS

I'm running asphalt 7 and nova 3 with no lag whatsoever, ok I'm oc but only to 1250. Don't know why they would lag, only thing I can think of is the sense elements taking ram

I must of installed over 20 different roms when I had my desire and I didn't find one that was as "smooth" as the stock rom. Maybe a little bit quicker but not as smooth. I think the main problem could be someones view on what they think is laggy and what they think isn't. There are people out there who think anything less than 50fps is laggy which is ridiculously smooth or people like me who think anything less than about 25fps is laggy. It would help if the Op replied to this thread to let us know what rom he is running
Im running project X
4.0 sense 4 rom. Before i was running ice cold sandwich ,but that was scary ,bcoz my device all ways frozed during running heavy games.

what rom r u using?
Currently I'm running codename, and before this blindIce, Blindbean and Reaper. I've avoided all sense Roms like the plague. No offense to the devs just don't like sense anymore.

at the moment video playback forces restart, but is still only a test port, blindndumb will probably look at it after he's sorted out to build from source

[Q] Best ROM in terms of gaming?

So i recently got this device, quite happy with it but since i use it more as a media device (heavy gaming like wot blitz and others) i am considering to switch from stock 4.2.2. Any good rom in terms of gaming performance and decent battery life?

On my phone SlimLP 5.0.2 work better than any lollipop rom. Yes, its a very aosp like rom without theme chooser and other fancy stuff, but runs really smooth and stable. Slim is my suggestion.
OH GOD 600MB of ram free, i came. Feels good man smooth as silk even though i didn't test it on games still feels good and the ui simple yet awesome, great!

RAM stays at 50-80%

got a question, i was wondering if there is a problem with my j700M. its ram always stay at 50-80% and if its worth, i'm using a debloated deodexed rom that i got here. before i flashed the rom the same problem persists. any idea?
It's the Samsung rom.
Samsung and the touchwiz interface are notorious for being a ram hog. When the note 3 came out it had 3gb ram. Over 1.5 gb was in use by the rom. The best solution, in my opinion, is to flash a non-samsung rom when it's available. Or even a tweaked kernel.

Even if RAM always at 90% , if you don't face lags then no problem

You should stay on Moto's stock ROM.
There's no 100% stable ROM. Bugs are present. So it's just a matter of finding out if you can live with those bugs.
From what you have described, (fast, lightweight, 100% stable rom, good battery life and features not important) I'd really suggest to stay on stock Moto ROM.
If you really want to install a ROM (not 100% stable), then give AOSP extended or AOSP CAF a shot. You might like those.
Yeah.......as @adityak1303 pointed out,the aosp caf by Ahmed Hady and AOSP Extended by Shubham Singh is the best nougat rom available now......first one is caf based and the 2nd is jdc
No worry, there is rom call Oreo Go, yes it's old but good in stability and for battery use BatteryGuru ( adb or wireless)
Ram use 21 mb and cpu use minus -
