Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930S which firmware for rooting, this one seems slightly off... - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I have a new Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930S which just updated to 7.0 today.
The Build number in the phone reads:
NRD90M.G930SKSU1DQJ1
So far the only CF Autoroot I have found is CF-Auto-Root-herolteskt-herolteskt-smg930s.zip, and the download page, and the download pages, https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/, says it is for:
NRD90M.G930SKSU1DQG1
but all the other info on that line is correct for my phone model.
A google search for a CF file for NRD90M.G930SKSU1DQJ1 leads me nowhere. I have found a few other CF files for the 930S, but they have no reference to the build number at all. There is one site, I believe in Vietnam, https://s-update.samsungvn.com/, which has the correct build of
NRD90M.G930SKSU1DQJ1
but it is not a CF file, I believe it is an OEM build.
Is the NRD90M.G930SKSU1DQG1 a typo?
Please, would someone clarify or clear up this issue for me?
Thank you.

Use magisk instead if you want root ans if you are not sure about supersu. You may want to install a custom rom. Custom roms provide root. I have a g930L with superman rom... Rooted.

Thank you.
I did end up finding the newly released, Nov 1 version of the "J" firmware. My phone had auto-updated to 7.0, so I left that alone, and used ODIN to root. So now stock root, maybe heading to convert to "F" version with USA/AT&T CSC.

Root Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930W8 Exynos)

Hello everyone,
I just got my new S7 from Telus and my goal now is:
Root the phone
Install a clean stock ROM (bloatware-free)
Now I've been reading a bit but I'm a little unsure whether I'm looking at the best solution out there, or even if I'm on the right track.
These are the 2 options that I'm leaning towards following:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/recovery-official-twrp-herolte-t3333770
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/sm-g930-exynos-cf-auto-root-t3337353
Can you tell me if the TWRP route is the best to follow?
Also, I can't seem to find a Stock ROM, can you point me to the right one for my phone? (Sorry, my searching and Googling skills needs an upgrade.)
Installing twrp wipes the phone, so you lose everything. If you install cfroot first on the other hand, you can backup your stuff with titanium backup and other apps and then install twrp and restore your apps at the end.

I'm ok with the wipe as I just got the phone today so I have nothing important there.
So would you suggest that I use TWRP over cfroot?
--Also, do you know where the right stock ROM is? I still can't find one.-- Oops, sorry I thought the link you have was part of your signature. I got my ROM now, taking a long time to download though. Haha.
Is there another download location I can use? I messed up the slow download and now I have to wait a long time just to start over with the slow download.
TWRP install does not wipe the phone. If you want to use TWRP to backup/restore data you have to format data (which does wipe the phone), because TWRP does not support the samsung encryption yet (no timeframe for this).
You could still use TWRP to install stuff on /system.
I would go cfroot and flashfire.
quick question here: I've got 930w8 from Bell (Canadian version). on https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ I Cannot see CF-auto-root root for W8 version.
Is it safe to guess that auto-root for 930f (exynos) will do the trick?

You can use Cf Auto root for G930F, is working
Hello!
Just wondering if this CF Root will work to root my device still?
It's April 4, 2017, so this thread is really old.
I've gathered that I can use CF-Auto Root G930F and have that downloaded..
I got my phone from Virgin and live in Canada
It's a Samsung Galaxy S7
Model Number : SM-G930W8 (LU2BQB6)
Android Version : 7.0
I'm trying to spoof Pokemon GO haha, and apparently I need to move some apps to a system folder or something.
First thing first though, figure out how to root.
Quite frankly, I'd be willing to send someone a couple bucks via paypal for any assistance at all.
I can tell you that cf autoroot for international model works on android 6.0.1, not sure if will do the job on android 7
S7 android 7.0 root
Is there a root for android 7.0 for an S7?

CF-AUTO-ROOT for galaxy S6 SM-G920F (baseband version G920FXXU3DPDP)

The last updated list in CF-AUTO-ROOT repository offers a version for Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920F with a build ID MMB29K.G920FXXU3DPBG.
My smartphone's build ID is MMB29K.G920FXXU3DPDP.
Can I use the repository's version ?
also interested, I have the same version : G920FXXU3DPDP
But both on PingPongRoot and CF AUTO ROOT this exact version isn't available in the list. But some others (still G920F), very similar, are there.
Can we try to root or is it risky? Thanks
I have the same version too and I'm interested in rooting my 920F too. How this will be possible ? Please help !
I have the same version too and I'm interested in rooting my SM-G920F too. I have the same version :
PDA: G920FXXU3DPDP
CSC: G920FOXX3DPD1
Please help. Thank you for answer!
I used same version of CF autoroot for both 5.1.1. and 6.0.1 fw, also on couple of different builds, on my G920F
Just flash CF-Auto-Root for G920F with Odin.
You can find the instruction on this link: https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/#odin
It works perfectly. Thank's a lot for your help.
Just a -little- problem. After rooting it's no more possible to take raw photographs

Hi guys,
I can confirm that the CF-Auto-Root for G920F is working perfectly ! I flashed it trough Odin and all went smooth ! My phone is SM-G920F with baseband G920FXXU3DPDP, build number MMB29K.G920FXXU3DPDP and kernel version - 3.10.61-7884513, [email protected]#1, Fri Apr 22 16:09:37 KST 2016, security patch 01 may 2016
@up I have the same build Version like you. Will this trip knox? I don't like to have a phone without root. Knox is not so much important for me but samsung pay is then lost too, or not?
I am a little confused about all of this. I would genuine appreciate help. I am trying root my phone. Do I download the g920f to my phone or to my computer? I am currently putting the phone into ODIN download mode. I have downloaded the file to both my Samsung S6 and computer.

Hi, I have the same model and software version. I would like to root my phone (don't care about knox). Can I just flash "CF-Auto-Root-zeroflte-zerofltexx-smg920f.tar" via ODIN? Or is it necessary to flash unlocked bootloader first (I'm on stock)? Thank You for your answer.

Hi,
Just flash the right file for your model via ODIN. I wrote my phone software details and it worked that way. Please check yours and if they are the same it should work. You can find the instructions on how to flash it and the needed file on this link: https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/#odin
Just make sure that your phone bootloader is unlocked and all should go smooth! My phone was bought from a Bulgarian mobile operator and however it still was with unlocked bootloader. I read somewhere that all of the phones that are manufactured for Europe should be with unlocked bootloaders but I cannot confirm this 100%. Maybe somebody who is more familiar with this can confirm it so everybody should feel safe from brick.
Good luck!

How exact a version of Odin do I need?

I have a SM-G930S S7 phone I just purchased. I finally found a CF version exactly specific to my phone, NRD90M.G930SKSU1DQJ1 , which just came out Nov 1, 2017.
I know this question may seem over-kill, but I'm getting pretty cautious in my 70's. It's taking longer and longer to remember what I'm doing, between the steps to go get the tool to fix it!
I have a file CF for the G930S, "J" version. Does Odin also need to be exact to NRD90M.G930SKSU1DQJ1 as well, or is Odin a general app which takes the specific ROM file?
Thank you.
ODIN is just a generic Samsung flash tool, always use the latest version for new phones / firmware
ODIN 3.12.10 is the latest I believe, but 3.12.3 or newer should work fine

Durham, thank you.
Off to rooting tomorrow.
I would look into CF a bit more too, might be fine but I have seen a lot of people having problems trying to root with CF (Bricked phones)
TWRP & SuperSU seems to be the preferred method
I haven't rooted mine so just going on what I've read here over the last year+ of owning the S7
Rooting the S7 isn't the same easy task it used to be with say the S5, encryption and other things that need to be disabled first
And make sure you enable OEM Unlock in developer Options before flashing anything custom, and DO NOT turn it back off again while you are custom or you will brick
That is the bootloader unlock

Need help un-rooting my S7

Hi All
I had and still have the latest software for SM-G930F
I followed a tutorial to root my s7 but then realised that root does not work properly on android 8.0.0
I would love some help to un-root my s7.
Baseband version
G930FXXS7ESL5
Build Number
R16NW.G930FXXS7ESL5
I have used odin to re flash original firmware but it still says the device is rooted.
like Samsung pass comes up this device is rooted so this option is unavailable.
i used sm-g930f cf-auto root, magic-disk and no-verify-opt-encrypt 6.1 and have twrp 3.3.1.0-herolte
it will only let me re-flash android 8.0.0 original firmware witch i though would wipe the the phone completely and un-root but i was most certainly wrong.
i wold love my s7 back on android 7.0 or below so that i can have a custom rom installed.
If you need more info let me know and thanks i advance to all the developers, moderators and users.
thanks
John
Hey there, since you have twrp already installed you could look into some of the custom roms if you want theres even Pie roms with OneUi avaliable, i have almost no experience with cf autoroot but if you want to completely get rid of previous system files before flashing the firmware select the option 'nand erase' in odin and make sure you fill every file to its respective field.
I would suggest against using 'plz' 'pls' in the title or your thread because that will most likely get you ignored, feel free to give me an update if that worked for you!

Rooting a Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930T)

Hi. I'm new here as a member, but I've found this site from my interest in rooting earlier this year. I'm aware of losing data and accidental bricking, and I've been searching for quite a while. I'm mostly interested to get rid of "bloatware" and remove ads. I currently don't know where or how to start, but I did start backing up files and data to keep. I also got SuperSU and Titanium Backup (and ADB installed on my computer).
I came across several pages of stuff, but I couldn't find anything recent/relevant. Links:

This would be a thread you'd want to take a look at: https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/how-to/root-s7-s7edge-oreo-nougat-t3819616. Unfortunately, you are on binary #11/B, and there is no root for that. There is no eng.boot for that, and that's what you need in order to root. The last eng.boot was for #10/A.
