CF-AUTO-ROOT for galaxy S6 SM-G920F (baseband version G920FXXU3DPDP) - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The last updated list in CF-AUTO-ROOT repository offers a version for Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920F with a build ID MMB29K.G920FXXU3DPBG.
My smartphone's build ID is MMB29K.G920FXXU3DPDP.
Can I use the repository's version ?

also interested, I have the same version : G920FXXU3DPDP
But both on PingPongRoot and CF AUTO ROOT this exact version isn't available in the list. But some others (still G920F), very similar, are there.
Can we try to root or is it risky? Thanks

I have the same version too and I'm interested in rooting my 920F too. How this will be possible ? Please help !

I have the same version too and I'm interested in rooting my SM-G920F too. I have the same version :
PDA: G920FXXU3DPDP
CSC: G920FOXX3DPD1
Please help. Thank you for answer!

I used same version of CF autoroot for both 5.1.1. and 6.0.1 fw, also on couple of different builds, on my G920F

Just flash CF-Auto-Root for G920F with Odin.
You can find the instruction on this link: https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/#odin

It works perfectly. Thank's a lot for your help.

Just a -little- problem. After rooting it's no more possible to take raw photographs

Hi guys,
I can confirm that the CF-Auto-Root for G920F is working perfectly ! I flashed it trough Odin and all went smooth ! My phone is SM-G920F with baseband G920FXXU3DPDP, build number MMB29K.G920FXXU3DPDP and kernel version - 3.10.61-7884513, [email protected]#1, Fri Apr 22 16:09:37 KST 2016, security patch 01 may 2016

@up I have the same build Version like you. Will this trip knox? I don't like to have a phone without root. Knox is not so much important for me but samsung pay is then lost too, or not?

I am a little confused about all of this. I would genuine appreciate help. I am trying root my phone. Do I download the g920f to my phone or to my computer? I am currently putting the phone into ODIN download mode. I have downloaded the file to both my Samsung S6 and computer.

Hi, I have the same model and software version. I would like to root my phone (don't care about knox). Can I just flash "CF-Auto-Root-zeroflte-zerofltexx-smg920f.tar" via ODIN? Or is it necessary to flash unlocked bootloader first (I'm on stock)? Thank You for your answer.

Hi,
Just flash the right file for your model via ODIN. I wrote my phone software details and it worked that way. Please check yours and if they are the same it should work. You can find the instructions on how to flash it and the needed file on this link: https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/#odin
Just make sure that your phone bootloader is unlocked and all should go smooth! My phone was bought from a Bulgarian mobile operator and however it still was with unlocked bootloader. I read somewhere that all of the phones that are manufactured for Europe should be with unlocked bootloaders but I cannot confirm this 100%. Maybe somebody who is more familiar with this can confirm it so everybody should feel safe from brick.
Good luck!

Galaxy S6 5.1.1 root

Hi,my galaxy s6 is on version 5.1.1 with the G920FXXU2BOGG firmware and I want to root it but don't know the right method.I know that there is already a method on how to root galaxy s6 on 5.1.1 but does it support my firmware?because it is made to root the first 5.1.1 firmware or it supports all galaxy s6 5.1.1 firmwares?

Only way to get root on 5.1.1 thus far is by flashing TWRP recovery.
If you are an amateur to this sort of thing I would highly suggest not to do that.
It will void your warranty permanently by tripping KNOX which can't be "un-tripped"
May I ask why you think you need/want root?
I want to root my galaxy s6 as I see some good custom roms and want to try them.I've had some android phones before like the galaxy note 4,galaxy note 3,htc one m8 and galaxy nexus and rooted them.Just curious on how to root my gs6 with the XXU2BOGG firmware.Does the 5.1.1 root method supports my firmware?

Okay then, as long as you aware of the risks..
Rooting isn't device dependent, it's just software. It's supported on any firmware as long as you have TWRP installed. It just installs SuperSU for you into the system files.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/orig-development/twrp-t3080940
Pretty sure TWRP is supported on all models of S6/Edge, they all share the same hardware as each other.
Just flash it with Odin version 3.10.6.
Grab it here ZeroFLTE represents all S6 models except Sprint model which require their own special one (no idea why)
You then follow the Odin install method, making sure you're using 3.10.6. Otherwise more than likely will not work.
After installation of TWRP and then booting into TWRP you will be faced with the "SuperSU is not installed, would you like to install it?"
.. And done.
Er, actually I think that appears when when you go to restart via TWRP menu
But yeah.. best of luck, don't blame me if your phone explodes into a fire ball that goes nuclear and destroys the world.. Or simply bricks it
Edit: Wait are you talking about the Chainfire root method? If you are you may as well not even consider that if you're planning on custom firmware installs.. TWRP is your best bet because it isn't device/firmware specific like CF. And you need TWRP for firmware installs anyway..

Assuming it doesn't boot loop with unikernel (all reports say it's fine) then yeah you won't have any dramas with root via TWRP.. Like I said it's just software, the boot loop comes from Samsung being slippery Gypsies and modifying their kernels to basically stop people from modifying system partitions. Hence the need for a custom kernel to bypass that crap. You'll be fine

Sorry for delayed response.. Yes flashing a firmware tar. md5 will reset the system partition back to full stock and replace the recovery, kernel, modem etc.
Just download one corresponding to your device ie.. SM-G92XX where the first X is either a 5 or 0 and the second is the country or region the phone was intended for. I keep the latest firmware for my device and country (not carrier because it has too much bloatware) around at all times to undo any screw ups and start again

Downgrade from 5.1.1 to 5.0.2 Galaxy s6 DUOS

Any idea of downgrading to 5.0.2 from 5.1.1. I want to downgrade because, my 3G service has been stopped when I upgrade from OTA to 5.1.1.
Official downgrade via odin is not possible. Either you try to solve the issue on 5.1.1 by flashing different firmwares or you go for a custom 5.0.2 Rom.
never do that because 5.1.1 has updated bootloader which will cause problems if u flash downgraded rom
im not sure if u can downgrade bootloader version and how to do this .... but i think if u downgraded the boatloader u can flash 5.0.2
i have Galaxy G9200 HK
i success downgrade it from 5.1.1 to 5.0.2
1.first i downgrade kernel from 5.1.1 to 5.0.2 (made .tar archiwe with only boot.img this ROM http://rom.shuaji.net/rom/6783.html Pingpongroot possible)
2. Now Galaxy S6 is wiped
3. install from ODIN this rom http://rom.shuaji.net/rom/8085.html ( not working on it pingpong root)
For root need again install pingpong root kernel possible, root and again back to kernel from rom http://rom.shuaji.net/rom/8085.html
USE IT ON your responsibility & IF your phone no start or method don't working .you know how install back 5.1.1 from samsung smart switch!

G9200ZHU1AOF1_G9200ZZH1AOF1_G9200ZHU1AOF1_HOME.tar
and kernel from Lřđă SM-G9200 5.0.2 LRX22G.G9200ZHU1AOE4.tar
install first kernel from 5.0.2 it crash system 5.1.1
after that G9200ZHU1AOF1_G9200ZZH1AOF1_G9200ZHU1AOF1_HOME.tar
and again kernel from LRX22G.G9200ZHU1AOE4
now you must in pingpong boot actualisation in program and try root.
and after you success rooted you can back to kernel from G9200ZHU1AOF1_G9200ZZH1AOF1_G9200ZHU1AOF1_HOME.tar

with that you need only "G9200ZHU1AOF1_G9200ZZH1AOF1_G9200ZHU1AOF1_HOME.tar" rom
hope it can help you.

Root Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930W8 Exynos)

Hello everyone,
I just got my new S7 from Telus and my goal now is:
Root the phone
Install a clean stock ROM (bloatware-free)
Now I've been reading a bit but I'm a little unsure whether I'm looking at the best solution out there, or even if I'm on the right track.
These are the 2 options that I'm leaning towards following:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/recovery-official-twrp-herolte-t3333770
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/sm-g930-exynos-cf-auto-root-t3337353
Can you tell me if the TWRP route is the best to follow?
Also, I can't seem to find a Stock ROM, can you point me to the right one for my phone? (Sorry, my searching and Googling skills needs an upgrade.)
Installing twrp wipes the phone, so you lose everything. If you install cfroot first on the other hand, you can backup your stuff with titanium backup and other apps and then install twrp and restore your apps at the end.

I'm ok with the wipe as I just got the phone today so I have nothing important there.
So would you suggest that I use TWRP over cfroot?
--Also, do you know where the right stock ROM is? I still can't find one.-- Oops, sorry I thought the link you have was part of your signature. I got my ROM now, taking a long time to download though. Haha.
Is there another download location I can use? I messed up the slow download and now I have to wait a long time just to start over with the slow download.
TWRP install does not wipe the phone. If you want to use TWRP to backup/restore data you have to format data (which does wipe the phone), because TWRP does not support the samsung encryption yet (no timeframe for this).
You could still use TWRP to install stuff on /system.
I would go cfroot and flashfire.

You can use Cf Auto root for G930F, is working
Hello!
Just wondering if this CF Root will work to root my device still?
It's April 4, 2017, so this thread is really old.
I've gathered that I can use CF-Auto Root G930F and have that downloaded..
I got my phone from Virgin and live in Canada
It's a Samsung Galaxy S7
Model Number : SM-G930W8 (LU2BQB6)
Android Version : 7.0
I'm trying to spoof Pokemon GO haha, and apparently I need to move some apps to a system folder or something.
First thing first though, figure out how to root.
Quite frankly, I'd be willing to send someone a couple bucks via paypal for any assistance at all.
I can tell you that cf autoroot for international model works on android 6.0.1, not sure if will do the job on android 7

Safe To Root This Version Of Edge?

I am ready to root my device and check out all the custom ROMS/creations that the greats around here have created. BUT - I saw there was a list of incompatible devices, however it is a dead link and I can not see the bad devices when I click the link. Here are my device specs
Code:
model
samsung-sm-n915a
version
6.0.1
kernal
3.10.10-8932341
build
mmb29m.n915aucu2dph5
Am I safe to root? And if yes, can someone point me to a good download of the factory image, just in case I screw the pooch on something? I can't find a good download for that either.
Thanks in advance everyone.
And if it is not listed in any of the jargon above, this is an ATT USA device. Also, here is one of the dead links http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/

Don't Attempt Root
Do not try that method. I guarantee it will brick your phone. Bootloader on AT&T version is locked and will not be getting an unlock method ever.
If you already did it and bricked.. look for the Marshmallow OTA files for restore via Odin specific to the AT&T version you have. I bricked my note 4 AT&T attempting root and recovered via Odin and stock firmware files. And i know i did this to a note 4 all att Samsung notes of the same generation have the same locked bootloader ='ing no root ever ?

Does this method work, or will I brick my device attempting it?

The device is a G930V. It's common to fake a G930F to sell it second hand.
You need to follow root guide for G930V

Ehhhhh...I think...sorry to say but you...just got an American Verizon model with a Snapdragon 820 SoC with a permanently locked bootloader. I think you can root it in a different way tho, but unless a miracle happens you will be stuck on the stock ROM forever, but it can be rooted. There is a method to root the SM-G930A but IDK if it works with the 930V model. Never knew people rebranded Snapdragon models as Exynos models, scary. Try asking for a refund or a real G930F with Exynos 8890 SoC, you got misled by the seller. If you already had it or got it from a close person then try to get an Exynos one. That rooting method kinda looks dangerous and involves flashing a bootloader. To clarify which model do you REALLY have, install Device Info HW from Play Store

Listen, NO ROOT will work for G930F because the phone is not G930F, someone has just flashed G930F firmware on the phone but the HARDWARE is G930V. Understand? You have been ripped off.
You first need to put G930V firmware back on the phone with Odin, the oldest version of G930V firmware you can find, not the lastest one.

There are lots of guides how to flash firmware please download the firmware and follow the guides.
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s7/firmware/SM-G930V/VZW/download/G930VVRS8CRK2/249089/
It does not matter that the bootloader is locked when flashing the firmware to the phone, Odin will flash your phone with the correct firmware.

That is not possible, you just can't flash an Exynos firmware on a Snapdragon model. Someone must've faked the info strings or something else. @Netcrying, can you tell me what the following fields say in Device Info HW?
SOC/Family
SOC/Instructions
SOC/GPU
SOC/Cores
SOC/Clusters
System/Platform
System/Fingerprint
System/Device
The SoC details can't be faked in software, so this may give us a clue of what it really is. I suspect it's a Snapdragon one though, but please post these.
My phone says in download mode:
Code:
ODIN MODE
DOWNLOAD SPEED: FAST
PRODUCT NAME: SM-G930F
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
FRP LOCK: OFF
Secure Download : Enabled
WARRANTY VOID: 1 (0X030c)
RP SWREV: B:7 K:5 S:6

See my previous post before flashing anything and post the information, a mistake with Odin can be costly here in Samsung land. This will let you know exactly what you have

nevermind, you have a Verizon S7. Root here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=81410291&postcount=1850
You must flash an engineering bootloader. Good luck, you're on your own now.
