I have a Sprint Note Edge (SM-N915P) and I honestly don't like this lollipop update. I tried flashing with Odin back to KitKat but no luck and research on google says bootloader is the problem. Can anyone help me ? Any information on how to unlock this bootloader or just any method on how to downgrade back to kitkat.
I still need help!! Please anyone?
Thanks in Advance.

You need to flash the apropriate KitKat Bootloader for your Phone through Odin. By apropriate I mean 4.4.4 Bootloader for SM-N915P. You can search Google or download your Firmware from sammobile.com or sth. Then in Odin > BL > select your downloaded Bootloader and after it's done you can flash any KitKat firmware or ROM from recovery.
Hope it helps

Hello, Thanks for this information. I have the 4.4.4 Firmware for SM-915P downloaded but when flashing with Odin i normally use AP or PDA to flash, i never thought of using BL(bootloader) to flash the firmware. I'm gonna try using your suggested method once i get back home and i would post a reply back to you. I truly appreciate it.

NO YOU SHOULDNT. Dude you gotta flash the BOOTLOADER FIRST or it's NOT GOING TO WORK. Open your firmware with WINRAR or sth like that, find the bootloader, boot.img or sth flash through BL and THEN flash firmware through AP / PDA. You had it right all along, but you need to flash KITKAT Bootloader first

Hello again, I tried exactly what you told me to do but still says failed. I downloaded stock kitkat (4.4.4) Firmware, then in Odin > BL > and selected the 4.4.4 firmware. I've attached a picture.
But if you're just talking about just only SM-915P "bootloader" file for kitkat and not the actual full firmware, then it is not present on sammobile.com or on any place with google search. The only bootloader file i found was for the international version (SM-915F) http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/development/n915f-kitkat4-4-4bootloader-tar-unlock-t3063928http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...15f-kitkat4-4-4bootloader-tar-unlock-t3063928, even XDA website don't have the bootloader for SM-915P. :crying:
I've been trying for weeks, trust me. And i feel like i've reached a dead end and stuck with lollipop OS that i don't like.

Yes, i opened the firmware with WINRAR and no bootloader file present. I downloaded it from sammobile.com. Even after extraction no boot.img present in the file. Picture below.
You gotta go deeper...

The firmware file you've opened with winrar contains ANOTHER COMPRESSED FILE (the actual firware that's going to be flashed). You have to go deeper. Double-Click on that file ('blabla'.tar.md5). wait a while until you can see its contents in winrar and THERE YOU WILL FIND (among others):
* aboot.mbn
* NON-HLOS.bin
* rpm.mbn
* sbl1.mbn
* sdi.mbn
* tz.mbn
Extract all of the above files >
compress them in a .tar file using 7zip or another program >
flash ONLY THIS FILE through Odin | BL >
when its done flash firmware through AP / PDA
p.s. : If you cannot flash the .zip firmware then extract and flash the .tar.md5 file inside. AFTER you've flashed the bootloader

I was so impatient that i opened up a new thread on how to extract a file with winrar. I feel so stupid now. I should have waited for a reply from you first. I guess we still learn everyday. I appreciate the time and effort you're putting in this thread to walk me through. I'm forever grateful and thank you so much. I will do exactly what you mentioned and post a reply afterwards on the result. Thanks again.

yes you are...
inside the .tar file you created there is a folder that contains the actual files to be flashed. That's wrong. Don't compress a folder, just the files

Do you have any suggestions? Or can you link me to a kitkat bootloader i can download, like the one you use for yourself. I don't know if this is a Sprint note edge issue because all other variants of the note edge seems to downgrade back to kitkat.
Lollipop just have too many issues like the one you also posted about the phone heating up badly, that happens to my note edge too. Battery draining like no tomorrow, it's just ridiculous.
I just wanna go back to kitkat.
Thanks again.

PB1 Odin tar NO BOOTLOADER

This is the pb1 Odin tar package without the pb1 bootloader and recovery.
Some users may not want to update their bootloader or may want to Odin while keeping the dev aboot and custom recovery intact.
This Odin package only includes the following:
Boot.img
System.img.ext4
Cache.img.ext4
NON-HLOS.bin
Modem.bin
Flash via Odin in the AP slot

Hi I'm sorry if this is a noob question but I've been out of the game for a while.
I never took the OTA update to Lollipop and am still running on 4.4.2 NCG build with Safestrap 3.75.
If I Odin to this package and flash the kernal, this will bring me up to Android 5 and i'll still be able to keep root and go back to 4.4.2 if I need to since it's not updating the bootloader right?
Sorry if I'm asking a stupid question but just have to ask before I do anything.
Thanks in advance.

I would just safely install one of Jrkruse's ROM's that have the "No Bootloader" Flashable Zips or update to PB1 using Muniz_ri's Update to PB1 and keep root. Which you can find Muniz_ri's here in the General Section and Jrkruse's ROM's in the Android Development section. Just remember to be sure you flash the No Bootloader Zip after installing the ROM and that you install JrKruse's SafeStrap for Lollipop because it won't appear in your app folder after installing these ROM's.

Cool thanks for the prompt reply. I'll give that a shot.
for the record yes this will allow you to still be able to downgrade.
but there are also other ways to get upgraded to lollipop.
This is just what I use just in case something really goes wrong. so i keep my recovery and dev aboot untouched.
of course with a working recovery there are other ways to recover. so to each their own
So I am not rooted and just installed the OTA for 6.0.1. If I Odin with this tar on AP slot will it put me back on PB1 with the ability to root or should I use the full on tar over here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/g900vvru2bog5-factoryodintarimage-t3179527
on AP in Odin to go back and then use the BPB1 root method?

Use the full PB1 tar so that you can rollback your bootloader. since it doesnt trip qfuse.

How to extract the boot.img from stock rom?

With the G930U firmware, how/would it be possible to extract the boot.img from the MD5?
So when flashing the EngBoot for root, can re-flash the stock one instead of reinstalling the entire firmware again.

Can anyone provide me latest stock firmware for Galaxy J7 2016 (SM-J710FN)?

Hi!
I am in need of latest stock ROM available for Galaxy J7 (2016) Indian variant, which should be flashable through Odin.
After last update in my phone, I could not flash the older firmware through Odin. It shows firmware binary as 3 and device binary as 4.
So, that's why I need latest firmware. I tried downloading it from Updato.com but even after downloading twice, the .zip file failed to open.
So, please provide me the latest ROM. Thanks!

Hi!
Yes, I was in stock ROM when I got an update and after that, baseband was updated. Since then, I'm not being able to flash the older firmware through Odin Tools.
Currently I am using debloated stock ROM (older)
Its build number is NRD90M.J710FXXU3BQJ3.
Baseband: J710FXXU4BRA2 (changed after updating)
I tried downloading ROM from Updato and SamMobile but both came out to be corrupted. I tried from PC and my phone both, so I think the upload firmware zip is corrupted.

Ok,
looks like u have updated your Bootloader (BL) to higher version (U4) as shown in your baseband number. You can not downgrade to lower version. Only thing you can do is to flash AP and CSC file (Do not touch BL and CP) from 4 files stock firmware with bootloader of U3. Please give me an email address here so I can send you 4 files firmware (in which there will be 4 files and out of that two files will AP and CSC). I can not write link here as XDA not allowing me to write any link here as I am "junior".
