I've been blessed with a phone that has no clicking and no whine...but only one odd behavior. The "Favorites" tab in the stock dialer keeps clearing itself??
I've gone through and "starred" the contacts that I wish to be my favorites and they show in dialer favorites tab for a time, but eventually at some point I'll hit the dialer and it's cleared out again. Is there something I may be doing wrong? Forgetting to click somewhere to lock them in?? Anyone else similar behavior?
It's not a really big deal and hopefully it will fix itself when Oreo 8.1 drops..but I'm still curious.

Hi guys,
This problem has been driving me nuts for the last week:
I love the HTC Clock on the ChaCha with Facebook messages underneath. Much more useful than the weather (Jeez! look out the window!)
Anyhoo, for the last week or so it's been saying "no recent updates" my daughter suggested I just didn't have any decent friends but no, pressing the panel takes me to loads of updates in HTC's Facebook app.
I've tried clearing the cache on Sense, toggling WiFi on and off, rebooting the phone. Still nothing
I can't see how I can get to any settings for the clock, it must hang off of something else but what?
Both the Facebook's own homepage widget and HTC's Friendstream both seem to be working fine. Hope someone can help!
Thanks,
Andy
Aha. I had this exact problem last week and made me realise how much I missed the feature. No end of rebooting, removing the widget / adding it again seemed to fix it. Then had a go a looking for other widgets to use instead, but I couldn't find anything that fit.
Anyway - the solution is to go:
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All
Scoot down to 'Facebook for HTC Sense'
First go 'Clear Cache' if that options on.
Second go 'Clear Data'
You'll get a pop up telling all data will be deleted, click OK.
How go back to home click on the Clock widget, go back.....
And hopefully, you're back in business!!!

Yay!
After reseting the data I had to re-authorise my "f" button and "**** about" a bit with the facebook app... then the little sync arrow appeared at the top and it all started working
Thanx!
Tried all of the above with Wifes phone and It didn't work, Then again she has like hundreds of facebook contacts through the stupid games she plays on there so maybe there is just too much info to sync with such a small amount of memory on the device, Anyway I don't care as its her phone lol
Hi,
I'm having the same problem.
I deleted the Facebook application. I installed again.
"Facebook" application, and the "Facebook for HTC Sense" I deleted the application data. But it was not the solution. Still does not update facebook widget.
How can I solve this problem?
Has anyone had this happen? I have a stock HTC One X that I have rooted. Everything was fine, but now, starting today, when I create a text message, I click send, and it reloads the thread, but my text does not show up - it's just the same last text showing from before the problem started. When people send me texts, I do not see them, but I do get the notification. I rebooted the phone, and cleared the app cache to no avail.
I tried Handcent, and it works just fine. However, handcent has that funky menu bar at the bottom that I hate, and I get a notification from both Handcent and from the stock messaging app, which is annoying.
Any ideas on how to fix this are much appreciated.
Once I hit about 6000 messages I wasn't able to even load threads. I'm just using GO SMS Pro until there's a stable CM10 release for this phone.
Try going into setting and clearing the apps cache then reboot.
Thank you for the replies - I already cleared the cache. I ended up "fixing it", or rather, the problem went away, when I deleted the threads from my best friend and wife. The only thing I can think of is that maybe there is a thread cap, and I message them a lot? Iunno, but it's working now.
since the new Hangouts upgrade I have has an issue on my n5 that I dont have on other phones
when i compose an sms and I search for a contact... I get a 2 second delay before it finds the contact... SLOW

I haven't had this kind of issue on my Nexus 5 - the only issue I had was (on a Note 3) after the big update, Hangout conversations were laggy in animations (upon sending a message, receiving or even opening the keyboard) and couldn't find a fix.
I don't know what's causing your issue but what I did on the Note to 'fix' it was uninstall the update. Maybe this will make it easier for you to use? The only problem I had with uninstalling the update was it doesn't include "merged conversations" but to most people this is no big deal.
Go into the Play Store > My Apps > Hangouts - and hit "Uninstall" and it'll drop the update. You won't get the fancy green box around your sent messages, (both incoming and outgoing) are grey, but this increases the performance.
Hope this helps.
thanks.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and nothing.
the program works smooth and fast everywhere else... no lags.
only when finding a contact
When I previously posted, I was on Stock 4.4.4. Last night I flashed CM11 and have been using Hangouts and I had the same lag issue I described + your contact search lag. I went into the settings for Hangouts and unchecked the option to display my Google Voice information and after a reboot, I see no lag issues for me.
Maybe this helps?
Attached screen shots for ya
thanks for trying to help, btu I dont have google voice, thus I dont have this option to uncheck.
It's actually really annoying me.
Yeah, most people don't have Google Voice - it was the last option to try. Are you using a launcher and/or have you changed (via Developer Settings) the animation scales?
Sometimes these could play an effect, but why it would only be affected when you search for a contact via Hangouts is beyond me.
*Update* I'm learning this might just be a flaw with the version of Hangouts because my has the same delay again now.
Hi guys,
I have Nexus 5 with 5.1.1 (rooted+Xposed) everything worked well, smooth as butter until lately...
For some reason my dialer is very slow, Loading contacts in Dialer taking forever, if it's catced it is fine sometimes and pops up real fast like it should be... but in most cases when I launch it, I have to wait more than 20 seconds for my device to load my "Speed dial" list, and when I switch to "recents" or "contacts" tab, everything is empty, after a few seconds all contacts appear at once...
Very weird, I tried to delete recently added contacts and looking for special characters that maybe affecting or something, but no luck, I also disabled Xposed and its moduls and also unrooted, but didn't helped...
I'm frustrated! Any Ideas?
Thanks! :fingers-crossed:
Am I the only one with this problem?
any ideas?
I have no idea if this is helpful, but may I suggest investigating the log cat output for suspicious log entries?
I'm wondering if anybody else has the same problem that I do. On the stock messaging app, on a few threads that have a lot of MMS messages with certain contacts , I notice the app goes very slow when I try to compose a new message to that recipient, or even scroll through that thread. On other threads with less messages, no problems. Does anybody else run into this? I have tried clearing cache, but that does not appear to work
By chance could this be a theme issue? If you are using a theme try going back to stock and see if it still persists. The Note 5 should have plenty of horsepower to scroll through mms pages effortlessly.
No. I use the stock theme.

Yes-exactly the same problem. I text with my wife a lot and didn't bother to delete old messages and the lag was awful with the stock app. When I used Textra no issues.
I deleted the whole thread with my wife and started over with her and the stock app performance was much better.
