Android 8.0 Messages app missing texts delete all - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

Some of my sent SMS text Messages are not showing when using third party apps like Tasker or Google Assistant.
How can I delete all texts from the Messages app?
What simple good alternative apps do people use for texting?

Sms and mms are stored inside android database, so that if you change default sms app, your messages will not be lost. Deleting a conversation from any app should delete it from database.

[Q] Message app

Hello all, this may be a basic android question but i am new to andriod (HTC Thunderbolt, unrooted). The messaging app has three tabs: All Messages, SMS/MMS, and Voicemail. I'm assuming the All Messages tab should show not just SMS/MMS but also emails at the very least but all I get there is SMS/MMS. I have had the Mail app set up and working, and also the Gmail app. Also I have FB and Twitter for HTC Sense both set up (not sure if those post should show up there or not. Is there a setting I'm missing or am I misunderstanding the purpose of the Messages app? Trying to use the full functionality of the Thunderbolt. Thanks for your advice.
The all messages folder is supposed to show sms/mms as well as push messages and visual voicemail messages however I have yet to figure out how to get push messages or what services uses these

[Q] Tasker - how to use as private sms box?

Is it possible that we can use tasker as a private SMS tool
e.g.
When a SMS from a certain contact arrives it moves the SMS to some other file or hidden location and delete that SMS from inbox.
and do the same for sent SMS to that contact.
May be copy the SMS to another then decrypt/encrypt it.
Is it possible via tasker?

Hangouts - backup

Will TiBU backup messages in Hangouts? Or are Hangouts messages just synced with Google and always there like GV messages?
No one knows, try it.

My unqualified guess:
The OS will still have dedicated SMS storage. If you use a 3rd party SMS client it will access this same SMS storage. Hangouts will access that storage too, but add Hangouts messages to the threads. Texts will not be stored in Hangouts app data.
You can try this out with the leaked Hangouts app.

It's an evil plot to coax us into G+...it will succeed, resistance is futile.

Any app out there to backup notification messages?

In my phone, messages like offers/reminders from various organizations are clubbed together as "Notifications" under the "Messaging" app. All other messages (SMS/text) sent by actual people are directly under "Messaging" app.
All SMS/text message backup apps that I have tried, do not consider/detect the "Notification" messages as SMS/text. So these messages are never backup up.
Is there any app that does so?
Ok. Titanuim backup seems to recognize them as MMS.
It is backed up by Titanium in the binary files mmssms.db and mmssms.db-journal
How do I back them up in Gmail as individual messages under a folder?

Adjust number of SMS messages stored on Pie?

So neither the stock OnePlus messaging app nor the vanilla messaging app seem to allow you to set the number of messages per conversation anymore? Does anyone have a clue if they have moved it somewhere outside the app or?
