Not sure if anyone has tried this, but if you have the Google Assistant set up on your phone, you can bypass any lockscreen security method (PINs and fingerprint) by saying "OK Google", then hitting the Home button on the bottom. Not too sure if I'm a fan of that tbh since it kind of defeats the whole purpose of the security measures. But again, it does require you to set up the Google Assistant........

I'm pretty sure it's because its tuned to your voice, you can turn the option to have it on the lockscreen off though.

It uses machine learning to recognise your voice. Try it, shouldn't unlock when someone else says "Okay Google".

Ahh that makes sense. I was just curious because I thought it was kinda weird that would bypass the lockscreen security.
Actually, that is something I find out long time ago and forget to start topic here, because as software engineer, I am quite concerned about this.
Let's be honst first and say that you can turn off that option, but problem is that I care about every little pop-up when I setup new phone and I am 100% sure it didn't ask me to activate that option.
That is really really serious thing.
Talking about AI and neural networks in terms of accuracy of this thing, could be opinion from someone who doesn't understand this enough.
To make it simple to regular people here.
2 of 4 friends that I was sitting with in a bar, successfully bypass security on my phone with just saying 'Ok Google'.
Neural network need accurate data to work good! Environment factors and microphones on phones are not ready for this yet.
I am highly concerned (maybe this is a bit paranoid) that Google did this on purpose...

Yup, that is correct. If you go into Google and to Security options, you can uncheck the box for trusted voice. Then you won't be able to unlock via that method.

Did you train Google now to recognize your voice? If you don't it will still work but will work with anyone's voice as you mentioned. Still if the default config is trusted and not trained that is really bad don't get me wrong

Yes bro, I trained voice model for my voice.
BUT, in some regions people have similar voices (you know you can recognize where is someone from) and if Google doesn't have enough input from that particular region in world, their recognition model is weak.
Still, main problem is that option WAS (back when I receieved my Galaxy in May) or STILL IS turned on by default (or with really unrecognizable pop-up question).

Will multitaks on mango, allow an app such as whatsapp or any messiging client run in the background like in android?
Thanks
Yes, it will. But it's more like iOS than Android. Android doesnt freeze the app. That's why Android use more battery usually.
It will freeze and let you come back to where you stopped.
I know that, it freezes the app, but can i still recieve messages while the app is frozen in the background like andorid. i hate ios.
Yes, you can, it doesn't kill the process, so it keep you connected.
Running in the background and the sockets API's will allow the IM programs we are used to. You will get messages while its not open just like your txt messages.
Apps will be forzen but will be allowed to run "live agents" in the backgrounds. These live agents can recieve messages and can give you a toast notification. These notifications will be deep linked... i.e. clicking on the notification will take you directly to the conversation. So overall it will behave just like any chat program on Android, but the whole app will not be running and thus will save battery and won't impact performance of the phone.

This is only partially correct. Live Agents aren't especially useful for things like IM and messengers because there are restrictions on how often they can run and for how long. I think the most a Live Agent can run is once every 30 minutes and for 15 seconds.
Most of the apps you guys are asking about (i.e. WhatsApp) will work like they do on iOS, with push notifications.
Thanks everyone, I rember live agents now. Thanks, Otherwise I would have had to switch back to andorid. And Tbh I lost WP7 a alot.

How are push notifications and Live tiles on Vodafone? Do they break too for you? Wondering if it's carrier specific.
I wish i could anwser that question accurately but im a ROM junkie so every month i either hard reset or change my rom. However regarding vodafone nothing has broken, all fine, but i think its because i reset my phone a lot, mainly to get free some space up.

I often hear people talking about push and carrier. But I live in Brazil, where WP7 is not supported yet, and I have absolutely no problem with push.
And does carrier really matters to push?! If you turn plain mode on and turn wifi on, will it change something?

Please listen to the facts. It IS highly dependent on how your carrier handels and cuts-off data connections. This is mainly a European carrier problem because of the techniques some carriers use to free up the network...
And indeed using wifi only (without a SIM card in your phone) will keep push working the way its supposed to work. Well unless you have a router which does not work well wit wp7.
Here is the explaination and what they did to make it function correctly in Europe
http://channel9.msdn.com/Blogs/Windows-Phone-7/Inside-the-Mango-Dev-Tools
If you watch channel 9 it is explained.
Well, it's not non-sense. We don't have problems with cut-off data here. So i'm not "spreading nonsense". It's just a problem that I never had with any smartphone.
Still, yes, you're right, carrier can do that. Good luck to you (;

True, sorry. Its just a bit frustrating if you are facing the problem yourself and there are people telling you well are you sure its this and that, since we dont have that problem at all here
Yeah we know... I just found out the hard way, my carrier is just one of the unfortunates. All other dutch carriers apparently are being handled fine by WP7.
I dont know an exact list of all carriers with whom WP7 PN does not work, however TMobile NL and I have heard Tre Italia and O2 UK and apparently the carrier of Peew are problem cases as well. Not sure though, but it does not really matter as apparently they fixed these problems with Mango so lets just wait and see. And I have a one year contract so I can ditch them if its not fixed, it sucks for the people who are tied into a 2 year contract though.
Interesting one, and can't figure out why it's happening - so if anyone has any thoughts x)
Flashed L tonight, all went smoothly and generally everything is fine. The only weird thing is that Google Voice search has stopped working. I press the Voice search button, and it just doesn't pick up any sound. I trying saying "ok google", and it doesn't pick that up either. Also, along with that, Text to Speech refuses to work too, tried with different languages and different voice packs.
Any ideas?
I know I had to go into the Google Now settings and activate the "OK Google" from any screen, to get it to work.
I had the same problem when setting another language as the primary language, then switching back to English, but something seemed bugged.
Removing all the other languages and restoring English (US) only, and finally rebooting, resolved the issue. Hope this helps.

Hmm, just gave that a try, no dice Was it just the Voice language or the whole phone that you had to change?
The weird thing is, it's like it's not even connecting to the microphone, just sits there listening and not hearing anything x)
Yes, that was exactly the same behavior i had with mine. I also ended up trying to configure Ok Google from any screen, and the voice training feature didn't hear anything, remaining stuck on the 1st of 3 verifications.
Maybe you can try going to Settings > App > All > Google Search and deleting cache/data to restore it brand new.

Tried that, and reflashing it, factory reset etc. Turns out the problem is slightly wider than just that not working though - It's killed the Microphone completely, can't make voice calls, it's like it's just not picking up the mix exists for some reason :S
It takes time to activate, there is a backend update of google going on while you select your language, but eventually comes back on.
Try voice typing if your believe the mic is not doing any good for "ok google"

just to try it out to rule out whether it's the telephony app or in effect a bug which affects 5.0 as a whole(which i highly doubt, because i have mine working like a charm) Hell mine even works on off-screen while charging.

Ok, voice search nothing, voice typing nothing, Making Phone calls, nothing x) The only thing I haven't managed to try yet is downloading a 3rd party voice recorder app - but unfortunately I'm on GSM at work and for some reason, Lollipop is refusing to connect to the wifi as well. Good times
Might just flash it back to 4.4.4 and wait for the OTA upgrade to see if that does it better
Just as an additional - managed to download a voice recorder app.... Nothing either. So the whole OS isn't picking up the Microphone. Curiouser and curiouser
Oh hell.... I'm going to hang my head in shame now and hand in any tehcy credentials I may have once had.
I have a Pressy.... I forgot it was plugged in... I didn't install the app. Lollipop saw it as a headset and mic.
In conclusion: I'm an idiot. That is all x) Thank you for anyone who tried to help though.
I have the exact same problem but no pressy. Could it mean that there is a fault with the headphone jack?

My mic is not working, i dont know what to do????? any help, just update to lollipop cuz receive the update message, but now i dont have mic. need help...
Ok, so trying to use the stock message app with voice. Every time I use it, I have to press microphone, then start talking, I usually just say hey, then wait, it will say network error, I then proceed in using again and it works fine.
Has anyone else run it this problem?
If so, have you found a fix for this.
Now I have never tried with watch in standalone mode to see if that is different.
I get this from time to time too. It's very frustrating to speak a whole text only to get the response of "Network Error". I wish someone would figure this out. This watch is just s few small tweaks from being head and shoulders above any other wearable. The issue is the tweaks required are on basic functionality.

I have downloaded the "Chat Hub" app by Le Hoang It is $2.70 and this seems to fix the problem. It also allows you respond to messages from like facebook messenger and others. I do not however use a bunch of different ones. So not sure how good it really is.

I've had this issue before but i find it hard to believe that a third party program has anything to do with the S-Voice speech to text...
The issue has also happened to me on a pebble and android wear.. I think it has more to do with the connection between the watch and the phone. What phone are you using?

I can honestly say this fixed it. May not be the idea of the app, but has for me anyway.
I thought I read somewhere that you could "interact" with the Google Assistant on this device, that it would "speak" to you? Mine stays quiet and doesn't talk. Or, am I dreaming that this was supposed to do that?
you mean the "ok google" assistant which starts when you push and holt the power/apps button ?

Google assistant doesn't actually speak on Android Wear. Doesn't matter what device you have.
thought I read that somewhere where it would actually speak to you on devices that had a speaker built in to it. Guess I'm losing it in my old age. lol
I don't like the concept of an open mic all the time listening to what I am doing. I know they say it only listens when you say the key word but I don't believe it as my brother has one of these devices in his living room and every once in a while it will just comment on what we are talking about without saying the key word.......creepy.
Can Alexa and other AI software be turned off permanently on the U11? I'm think of getting one and this is the thing that is stopping me. I've been an htc guy since my Aria days and would like to keep it that way. I just don't like this open mic stuff.
Thanks
Yes you can remove/ disable the Alexa on the device. I my self have used HTC since thunderbolt days on vzw and other gsm carriers internationally, I love the phones and messing with them ? . If you have root you can delete Alexa all together, or disable the app without root. My device does not have Alexa nor Google voice functionality as Google is also something I don't trust fully. When Alexa was on my phone it used to turn on randomly, and yes that did bother me too.. and Google logs everything as we all know.
Look into titanium backup if your rooted to make it easy, or you can limit permissions to stop the app from using hardware without root, which can be done in the device settings/ disable the app all together.
