JBL Soundboost App not retaining settings - Moto Z2 Play Accessories

Whenever I connect the Soundboost 2 mod, I have to open the My JBL app, re-enable the equalizer, re-select an equalizer preset, and re-enable the panorama sound.
Are these settings supposed to be persistent, or does everyone have to re-enter these each time you snap on your speaker?
It's pretty annoying having to reconfigure my preferences every time I use the speaker.

Unless you've already resolved this, I fixed it on my Moto Z2 Play by clearing data for the Moto Mod app.

I hadn't resolved it. In fact, lately I haven't even been able to exit the My JBL app unless I force close it.
I don't have the speaker with me, but I'll clear data for Moto Mods Manager and My JBL Soundboost2 and see if that works for me.
Thank you

[APP] BT GNow: Use Google Now rather than Voice Dialer with Bluetooth handsfree

Just wrote a very simple app called BT GNow, which activates Google Now rather than the default Android Voice Dialer when you hit the hands-free button on your Bluetooth headset. Surprisingly, I can't seem to find another app that accomplishes this simple function. Bluetooth Launch does this to an extent, but the UI is difficult, it requires some configuration, it seems to me to cause wakelock problems, and the instance of Google Now that it starts takes off where Google Now left off (so you are often brought to an old search rather than an opportunity to speak a new voice command).
BT GNow keeps only a limited wakelock, requires no configuration (other than configuring Google Now to accept input from your Bluetooth device and possibly disabling the native Voice Dialer), and starts a fresh instance of Google Now each time.
Here's the Play Store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vibaroo.btnow
And the (minimal) website that describes the setup: https://sites.google.com/site/btgoognow/home
Great will try tomorrow
I will try now, great APP man:good:
Fail, my bluetooth now is not working, i tried, factory reset, re-flash system but not working more
Wow, great app. Makes my bluetooth headset and Google Now work as I always expected it would have to begin with.
I noticed that there was a problem with the screen locking and not responding to touches if lockscreen security is enabled and Google Now is interrupted. Solved this problem with the latest version and also improved wakelock control by sticking an icon in the corner of the screen. The icon disappears when the screen is turned off, and the phone is kept awake only as long as the icon is present.
Got rid of the icon that people seemed to dislike (made it invisible).

New Feature
Some have reported problems with BT GNow not effectively bypassing the lockscreen. To address this, I've added an option that requires you to say "OK Google" after pressing your handsfree button; this in effect lets Google Now handle the lockscreen itself. You can activate this option by clicking on the app in the launcher and choosing the "OK Google" option.
Note that if you choose this option, you have to make sure that "OK Google" detection is set to work "From any screen": Google Now > Settings > Voice > 'OK Google' Detection > From any screen (checked or set to "on").
Is there a way to use this with non-BT headphones? I have the 3 button control on my headphones and would love to be able to use this app to bypass the voice dialer.

I'm not sure. Embarrassing to admit that I don't have a wired headset to try it with. At least one user has reported that it does work with wired headsets, though. Have you tried it?

I did follow the instructions up to the Voice Dialer point due to not being able to find the Voice Dialer app in the "All" section. I don't know whether I'm blind or lollipop merged it into another application.

Hmm. You're right. Since upgrading to Lollipop I don't see it on my phone either. I'll see if I can get a hold of a wired headset to try to troubleshoot it.
You should go Bluetooth!

Don't go out and get one just to fix my problem! I just don't use my phone for music enough to justify investing in a bluetooth, haha. Thanks for looking into it.

Thanks!
Amazing! I'm currently using your app to simulate the MotoX experience on a Nexus 5 (pressing just the button on a Moto Hint to query the Nexus 5). I'm still having a problem with the sound from the headset seeminly not being routed through to the phone after I say "Ok Google" (even though I've got the option enabled within Google Now's settings), but I'll keep working at it.

I've noticed that problem if you have more than one bluetooth device connected at once - for instance, if your phone is connected to your car's bluetooth or a stereo headset while connected to your Moto Hint. I'm considering options to try to fix this. In the meantime, perhaps it's better not to use the "OK Google" option and just launch directly from the bluetooth button?
My friend has same thing on his iPhone. I can now use google now with handsfree, when i driving my car. Thanks! The Coolest app on my week!
Wishlist ....
Given the code you have already written here is a little wish from me ... could you implement that the HFP bluetooth headsets just do not launch any application - just volume up and down.
xperia Z, TWIINS bluetooth headset for motorcylce, mono Bluetooth to route Navi output to headset - whenever I press volume down I get the stupid voicedialer or -if disabled- a black screen. I do not want to make any phoncalls on a fast bike!
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Volume changing while playing music

Does anyone else have this kind of problem? The volume while playing music is always changing, like one step up or down every 5 minutes give or take.
- I disabled all the sound and equalizer options from the settings to test if that was the cause but it didn't help.
- Rebooting the phone also didn't help.
- I use Spotify, didn't test any other app yet but I don't have this problem on my Nexus 5 using the same Spotify version.
- There is no way the volume keys were pressed accidentally because even when the phone just lies there, flat on the table, this happens.
- I am on the latest OTA.
Ha ha I thought I was crazy. Yes I do, it's not a drastic change in volume but I know exactly what you're talking about
Same problem here. ..
Did anyone find a solution to this problem? This is probably the most annoying bug I've ever experienced.

I have the same issue on my edge
I had the same problem, it was due to the "Sound Alive+" option in the sound menu.
I found that it was incompatible with both Spotify and Google Play Music, changing the volume of the songs randomly. As soon as I disabled this, the volume glitch stopped.
However, I migrated across to the stock music app, as I love the Sound Alive option.

That doesn't solve the problem for me, I disabled all the sound options (and still have them disabled) and even all the gestures and this still happens regularly...
Hey guys, same problem, I assume it's because of the equalizer voice/instrument equalizer wheel, for some reason it keeps adjusting music vs voice when I play music even if it's set up to normal... Let's hop samsung provides a way to fix this
I had the same issue initially as well using a bt speaker.
I have disabled sound Alive+. In addition, I have disabled the EQ of my speaker and in spotify. Doing so solved the issue for me...
Spotify informs you that using the Equalizer (software) it can affect sound level on some devices. So make sure that you do not have (extreme) equalizer settings in any of the affected software and hardware....
If you take all together, with a modern setup, the sound file is processed by: 1.) the playing software (with EQ) 2.) the streaming device (with EQ or sound improving software e.g. the samsung galaxy) 3.) the recieving (BT) device with software EQ (e.g. the UE Boom).
With my setup, I can turn of EQ at any stage and this solves the problem for me. If your BT speaker does not allow changes of its sound processing, this could be an issue...

Just last month my phone did a system update that took what felt like forever. Whatever was updated seemed to fix the issue. I haven't had any trouble since. Sorry. I know that doesn't really answer your question.

Set a specific app to output audio via source - thank you Samsung

This is a life saver for parents
o to Settings - sound and vibration - Seperate App sound (all the way at the bottom)
turn on and pick the app you want(limited to 1 app at a time)
Then choose the location (I chose Music to bluetooth)
This way I can still listen to music and be able to hand my daughter my phone so she can watch youtube
Impressive, didn't think of that as a use case. Although I don't think I'll be handing anyone my phone just yet
For example (?) : can you watch a video/broadcast mute (sport game), and listen TuneIn ( running commentary ) at the same time ?
Actually android is deeply missing basic audio mix table !
Also can you (lucky owners) tell us if :
-AKG earphone are ip68 waterproof ?
-Google Music can be uninstall/disable ?
-is embedded EQ working with any browser/video app ?
Thx for sharing...

I have a specific question/problem related to this:
Currently I have Google Play Music assigned to Bluetooth.
This is cool because in the car, I can play music - but then play a game or something at the same time.
HOWEVER.....
In order for this to actually work, you have to go to the audio connections hub thing in the notification shade.
And switch your audio output to the phone.
THEN with the audio output set to the phone - itll use the override and send the play music to bluetooth.
You seemingly have to do this every time (I even used Tasker and Autotools custom settings, trying to detect which setting gets changed and make it automatic.... but couldn't see a related changed setting in the settings lists).
A bigger problem though, amidst my messing around to try to make this work better....
I selected "turn off connections manager" option.
Now I don't get that stuff in the notification shade at all.
And I cannot find a single setting that lets me access it again!
So now I can never use separate app audio.
Can someone help me!?!?!?
I have found this feature usefull for SatNav.
I have the phone connected to car bluetooth, so ALL audio on previous phones goes to the car - so as im listening to streaming radio etc, the satnav voice from TomTom kicks in and can be quite annoying - especially as I only want the voice for traffic and speed cameras.
With this feature, I can still stream music to the car but have the audio come through the phone speaker - well done Samsung

Give SoundAbout a look. There isn't much it can't manage.
One of my issues with the Google ChromeCast is that when the phone is used as a source, all audio is sent over that ChromeCast connection.
You cannot divert the audio to Bluetooth for bluetooth speakers/headphones.
Does anyone know if this new Samsung feature will allow you to divert ChromeCast audio to Bluetooth?
That would be pretty darn cool if it did.
EDIT: Btw, I don't have the Samsung phone.
I was linked here from a Google Pixel thread. But I'm really interested to know the answer to my question above.

Download Sound Assistant from Samsung in the play store. When you adjust volume hit the icon and then expand the window. To the right of the app volume slider you can switch sound output.

Thanks to the post above I was finally able to find the setting to enable the option to select the Audio output on my phone (Samsung S8+) see pictures attached. So if you've lost the option to select the audio output of you S8 follow these steps. (Not to be confused with with Separate app sound, which routes different apps to a bluetooth or phone output)
Find the Samsung Connect app
Click on the three dots to bring down the menu
Tap Settings
Tap Samsung Connect panel
Ensure this is turned on
Tap on Always show
and Finally tap on Audio output << This is the one! :good:

Extremely low Bluetooth volume

Hi,
I have an issue with my Samsung Galaxy S8+.
If I try to play music via bluetooth to my speakers, the volume is very very low. The settings are on max and media volume sync can't be enabled.
I tried playing music with my Samsung Galaxy S7Edge and the volume was completely normal and very loud with nothing changed on the speakers.
I also tried this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/how-to/low-bluetooth-volume-car-fix-t3595530 with no result.
My BT speakers: https://www.trust.com/en/product/19367-tytan-2-1-subwoofer-speaker-set-with-bluetooth-black
My S8+:
Android 8.0.0
Stock
Knox triggered: 0
Never did any manual flash. Always just updated it.
Are there common reasons for this or good fixes? Or is it just a software bug?
Thanks for your time!

It's oreo, they messed up the volume and everything audio on oreo, no fix right now I'm going to make a topic to see if it's possible to downgrade back to nougat.
Not just an Oreo thing. I've had the same issue with the Bluetooth in my car as well.

it's amazing that you can't tell the difference at all, it's very noticeable, i am unable to hear anything when i receive calls in my headset either, this latest oreo update is broken.
found something online, it's something to do with media sync, try connecting the bluethooth device, then go to settings, bluethooth, 3 dots and select media sync, select on and make sure both phone and headphones volume is max and restart phone, anyone notice any difference? i'm testing it now.

Yea that was the first thing I have read about when I started searching for it. I wanted to try it, but it seems like my BT speakers are not compatible with it. It says that it isnt compatible when I try to activate it. Not sure if there is a workaround to make it working.
I don't think this is an Oreo specific problem. I've encountered this bug since marshmallow.
The only way I could get it to reset the volume back to max was when I used crdroid.
The volume would get set very low. I could open the global equaliser via Google music. And the volume would not change.
I would then access the global eq via another music player. Just make a tiny change to any parameters and boom. The volume is now set to the correct level again.
The moment I would use Google music to access the eq the volume would jump down again
My tablet is now on naosp and the volume issue has popped back up.
Doing the same procedure will reset the volume correctly.
It is rather annoying to have to do this.
I don't know what is causing the problem but it looks like the global eq ultimately effects the output volume disabled or enabled

It dosn't work anyway, still the same, on a good note they have fixed the low volume for incoming calls on my headphones, just the music volume is still crap.
I think my only solution is another set of headphones that support LDAC but they are £300+ lol or to get a Microsoft music player, i have a laptop that even beats what the old volume was on nougat so maybe a Microsoft music player would be a good idea, gonna look around.
It was good while it lasted i guess.

But as soon as I swipe down the volume jumps back up.

I use magisk to hide root so I can still use those functionalities.
Make sure you read into it first.
I've had a replacement connects2 module fitted today and all is going well.
Viper4android my EQ is absolutely amazing in comparison to other EQ and in my case the volume issue has been solved.
Actually it's really loud as I was used to the lower level.
Steps I took.
Unlock bootloader ( wiped my tablet)
Flash magisk
Install magisk manager
Added selinux module via magisk manager
Added viper4android via magisk manager
Disable global EQ
Set selinux to permissive
Install viper4android driver. Prompts when opening the app for the first time.
Reboot
And it's all good.
The bug with AutoMate seems to be tied to my maps speed prompting notification voice.
If it does revert to no EQ, I drag down from the top bar and it's back up again
I hope it works for you. Plus you now have a very awesome EQ as a bonus

Try enabling Developer mode (press Build Number 8 times). Then turn on Disable absolute volume. This de-links the phone volume control from the headset's volume control. Now you should be able to increase volume on both independently.

found something online, it's something to do with media sync, try connecting the bluethooth device, then go to settings, bluethooth, 3 dots and select media sync, select on and make sure both phone and headphones volume is max and restart phone, anyone notice any difference? i'm testing it now.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I had two pair of bluetooth headphones. A Cheap pair with volume control and a fancy pair of JBL Frees with no volume control. I could NOT figure out why sometimes the volume was great when they connected and other times it was VERY LOW all the while the cheap pair sounded great when I turned them up. I was at wits end blaming JBL and Samsung when it was a setting for Bluetooth devices.
Thanks again Huyi. Very glad I found this post.

Question Bluetooth audio playback from background app is cut off

When I'm in the car and start music from any audio app (tried YouTube music and a couple different audio players from the app store), and then bring up Google maps, putting the music app in the background but still playing, after about 30-60 seconds the music will stop. Switching back to the audio app will start music playing again, but switching away will cause the audio to get cut off after a bit again.
The music doesn't stop playing if I leave the music player in the foreground, but I'd prefer to have google maps in the foreground. This wasn't an issue with my previous phone so it seems like it isn't a problem with my Bluetooth device.
I tried setting the battery optimization for the music apps to never optimize, but that didn't make any difference.
Anyone else experienced this or have any idea what is going on? I can't really listen to music in my car like this, since I always like to have google maps up.
That's so strange. That happened to me on the op8. But only on custom roms. Go into maps settings and disable voice match. Assistant. Turn it off. It will fix issue. That's very strange. If that doesn't you will have to go under google settings and disable voice match there as well.

Thanks I'll give it a try.
Unfortunately turning off voice assistant hasn't helped.
