When I'm in the car and start music from any audio app (tried YouTube music and a couple different audio players from the app store), and then bring up Google maps, putting the music app in the background but still playing, after about 30-60 seconds the music will stop. Switching back to the audio app will start music playing again, but switching away will cause the audio to get cut off after a bit again.
The music doesn't stop playing if I leave the music player in the foreground, but I'd prefer to have google maps in the foreground. This wasn't an issue with my previous phone so it seems like it isn't a problem with my Bluetooth device.
I tried setting the battery optimization for the music apps to never optimize, but that didn't make any difference.
Anyone else experienced this or have any idea what is going on? I can't really listen to music in my car like this, since I always like to have google maps up.
That's so strange. That happened to me on the op8. But only on custom roms. Go into maps settings and disable voice match. Assistant. Turn it off. It will fix issue. That's very strange. If that doesn't you will have to go under google settings and disable voice match there as well.

Thanks I'll give it a try.
Unfortunately turning off voice assistant hasn't helped.

See title.
I've tried turn by turn, but the music and voice directions are the same volume. They're drowned out.
I've switched from Android, and the way it worked with Google navigation is as follows:
Music is playing -> Music Paused -> "Turn Right on X St" -> Music resumes
Do any apps have that option? I'm interested in Navigon, specifically.
Thanks for any help!
Don't know about any thrid-party ones, but the built-in navigation feature works like that.
However, it doesn't give instructions automatically; you have to tap it when you want directions for the next leg of the trip. Some (few) people like this, many find it annoying and/or unusably impractical.

Yeah, that's just not very useful :/
For those who have Navigon: does it pause the music when getting audio directions?
I would really like something like this too. Poweramp on Android gives the ability to pause music on short audio focus change (like when voice navigation is active music is paused and then resumed). I have yet to find an app on WP7.5 that does this.
I know bing maps does it but that doesn't give automatic voice guidance.
Any help would be appreciated. It would be extremely useful for listening to music through a bluetooth car stereo whilst having the navigation on...it is hard to hear when the navigation voice is speaking if music is playing at the same time.

I've had an app that stopped/paused music fail certification for that very reason. If an app pauses or stops music, it must warn the user EACH TIME the app is loaded. Kind of silly, so I doubt any navigation apps out there pause the music.
1. Sometimes while playing music that is even cache'd to the phone it will stop after every song and I have to turn the screen on for it to advance, is that normal?
2. Is there anyway of getting lock screen controls for it?
Thanks in advance

No, it's not. Do you have underclocking profiles for when the screen is off? If so, having it set too low interferes with playing music; bump it up a little. If not, try clearing the application data (settings > manage applications > [find the app] > clear data).
As far as I know, the only way to get lock screen controls is if you use a third party lockscreen (Widgetlocker; others may work too, idk) and install Phantom Music Control.

Yea I found out it was juice defender turning my data off with screen off.
Crap still does not go to next track with screen off even on wifi or with data on
What player are you using? Some don't stay on. Try DoubleTwist.

Just the Google Music app, poweramp works fine. But I'd rather stream than load my sd card
Bump, does anyone else use Google Music? It keeps sometimes auto advancing the music and others it won't play the next song in the album unless I turn the screen on after the previous track ends. This is with Data always on or not so it's not that. I wish PowerAmp could not just see the Pinned for offline but also read the meta-data

Yes sometime it will play 20 seconds then jump to next song..
I'm having the same problem with Google Music - music stops playing after each song and resumes when I press the power button. I had this problem unrooted and rooted. I don't know if it only happens with Google Music because that's the only music app I use. Might switch over to the stock music app for a while and see if that's any better.

It's just the Google Music app, poweramp works fine or other apps.
I've been having this problem for months now, and it seems there's no interest in fixing it. It's not just your phone, either--I'm on a T-mo version of this phone and it happens on any rom, rooted or not, and I despise the built-in music app.

I'm glad I'm not the only one and going crazy haha, hopefully google will get the Google Music app updated quickly or allow 3rd party apps to access the streams
My Google Play music randomly stops playing. Anyone else experience this? Is there a way to fix this?
Sounds like the connection is not fast enough to keep up with the track. Check the Google Music settings and make sure it is set to not use the highest quality?

I will give this a try and report back after some testing. Just seems weird because it does it on my work wifi and home wifi and I never had any problems with it when I had my vibrant.
I think I may have fixed it. I turned off the "stream high quality" setting and it would still randomly stop playing. Finally I was able to glance at my phone quick enough once this happened one time and saw that my phone would say "no service" and I would have no bars on my wifi. I went into Settings - Wi-Fi - Menu... - Advanced and checked the "Best Wi-Fi performance" option and have no issues since. I was actually able to listen to a full album without google play stopping.
Hi,
Got a seriously annoying problem. Whenever my phone connects to bluetooth, which is usually in my car, it starts playing the last song I listened to by auto launching google play music and playing away. I don't know if I'm being blind but I can't find a setting to turn this off. Sometimes I might want to stream music in the car, but not automatically on connecting!
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Sorry to jump on this ages old thread, but I'm wondering this same thing. Google Play Music is the culprit, just like you, and it's also when I connect my phone to my car's bluetooth and I don't want it to automatically play. I didn't find any options within the app itself.
I had this issue before and I used ROM Toolbox Pro to turn off one of the autostart receivers for this app and that seemed to work, but I cannot remember which one it was or even how it would've become enabled again in the first place.
EDIT: I think one reason for this is any songs that might be in 'queue' inside the app. Like if you were playing from a playlist or something. Wipe the songs out of the queue (should just be able to swipe them away) and I think that should work.
I'm still looking for a bluetooth receiver I might be able to disable to not have to worry about it.
Interesting. I've always had to use third party options to MAKE the phone autostart music when connecting to bluetooth. As the above posts states there are no options in Play Music to turn this on or off. What ROM are you running? Is it possible your ROM, a third party app, or maybe even your head unit is causing this?
I am pretty sure it has to do with some services turning off when phone is locked/sleep. Whenever I use Google Play music service to play music on any bluetooth speakers, if I lock the phone, after a few seconds I will hear no sound. I will have to pause the music and hit play again to hear it. If, however, I do not manually lock the phone but let it go to sleep on it's own, the music continues to play.
This only happens with Google Play. I have tried it with Amazon music and it works. Amazon music is not set to to close after screen lock. However, Google play is not listed in the apps to close after screen lock.
Anyone else have this problem and/or solution?
Thanks,
Does anyone else have this problem? I am still unable to figure out why it does that. No one else experiences this problem?
