Hi,
I have an issue with my Samsung Galaxy S8+.
If I try to play music via bluetooth to my speakers, the volume is very very low. The settings are on max and media volume sync can't be enabled.
I tried playing music with my Samsung Galaxy S7Edge and the volume was completely normal and very loud with nothing changed on the speakers.
I also tried this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/how-to/low-bluetooth-volume-car-fix-t3595530 with no result.
My BT speakers: https://www.trust.com/en/product/19367-tytan-2-1-subwoofer-speaker-set-with-bluetooth-black
My S8+:
Android 8.0.0
Stock
Knox triggered: 0
Never did any manual flash. Always just updated it.
Are there common reasons for this or good fixes? Or is it just a software bug?
Thanks for your time!

It's oreo, they messed up the volume and everything audio on oreo, no fix right now I'm going to make a topic to see if it's possible to downgrade back to nougat.
Not just an Oreo thing. I've had the same issue with the Bluetooth in my car as well.

Look at that post. I tried the force close method and it helped.

it's amazing that you can't tell the difference at all, it's very noticeable, i am unable to hear anything when i receive calls in my headset either, this latest oreo update is broken.
found something online, it's something to do with media sync, try connecting the bluethooth device, then go to settings, bluethooth, 3 dots and select media sync, select on and make sure both phone and headphones volume is max and restart phone, anyone notice any difference? i'm testing it now.

Yea that was the first thing I have read about when I started searching for it. I wanted to try it, but it seems like my BT speakers are not compatible with it. It says that it isnt compatible when I try to activate it. Not sure if there is a workaround to make it working.
I don't think this is an Oreo specific problem. I've encountered this bug since marshmallow.
The only way I could get it to reset the volume back to max was when I used crdroid.
The volume would get set very low. I could open the global equaliser via Google music. And the volume would not change.
I would then access the global eq via another music player. Just make a tiny change to any parameters and boom. The volume is now set to the correct level again.
The moment I would use Google music to access the eq the volume would jump down again
My tablet is now on naosp and the volume issue has popped back up.
Doing the same procedure will reset the volume correctly.
It is rather annoying to have to do this.
I don't know what is causing the problem but it looks like the global eq ultimately effects the output volume disabled or enabled

No difference at all with three different devices I connect to. I do have media sync disabled already. Hopefully you get it figured out.
I've done a test on my S8+ now.
I downloaded the latest firmware and flashed it with a complete reset of the phone.
The Firmware Details:

After the flash of it the BT issue is gone. This was done yesterday (4/10/2018). I will report back if the BT issue returns OR in like 2 weeks+ if everything is still fine.
GL everyone
new firmware released by samsung, lets hope this fixes the issue :S, i checked the notes and it does say fix for bluethooth.

do you need root for that though and i never had this issue in nougat, this issue first happened in oreo.
And i have a universal eq setting on a separate app called precise volume which does the same thing.

It dosn't work anyway, still the same, on a good note they have fixed the low volume for incoming calls on my headphones, just the music volume is still crap.
I think my only solution is another set of headphones that support LDAC but they are £300+ lol or to get a Microsoft music player, i have a laptop that even beats what the old volume was on nougat so maybe a Microsoft music player would be a good idea, gonna look around.
It was good while it lasted i guess.

I wasn't rooted before but since then have rooted via magisk systemless root. I can still use pay and bank access etc...
I'm using viper4android now and have also disabled the system EQ.
I have just got connects2 for my car last weekend.
On the odd occasion the volume will drop when opening automate(the driving launcher) which is set to launch playmusic on Bluetooth connection.
But as soon as I swipe down the volume jumps back up.

Yeah for sure but be aware you might loose functionality on apps like banking and payments.
I use magisk to hide root so I can still use those functionalities.
Make sure you read into it first.
I've had a replacement connects2 module fitted today and all is going well.
Viper4android my EQ is absolutely amazing in comparison to other EQ and in my case the volume issue has been solved.
Actually it's really loud as I was used to the lower level.
Steps I took.
Unlock bootloader ( wiped my tablet)
Flash magisk
Install magisk manager
Added selinux module via magisk manager
Added viper4android via magisk manager
Disable global EQ
Set selinux to permissive
Install viper4android driver. Prompts when opening the app for the first time.
Reboot
And it's all good.
The bug with AutoMate seems to be tied to my maps speed prompting notification voice.
If it does revert to no EQ, I drag down from the top bar and it's back up again
I hope it works for you. Plus you now have a very awesome EQ as a bonus

Try enabling Developer mode (press Build Number 8 times). Then turn on Disable absolute volume. This de-links the phone volume control from the headset's volume control. Now you should be able to increase volume on both independently.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I had two pair of bluetooth headphones. A Cheap pair with volume control and a fancy pair of JBL Frees with no volume control. I could NOT figure out why sometimes the volume was great when they connected and other times it was VERY LOW all the while the cheap pair sounded great when I turned them up. I was at wits end blaming JBL and Samsung when it was a setting for Bluetooth devices.
Thanks again Huyi. Very glad I found this post.

JB 4.2.1
Has anyone got either Volume+ or equilizer to work on the latest version of JB?
I can't get any joy from either. I used to be able to ramp up the sliders on equilizer which gave a boost but now there's no difference. A little clue to the fact that something is happening is that in equilizer if I choose the drop down for slider quick settings when I choose maximum I get a momentary volume increase. Momentary being about 1/4 sec.
I'd be interested if anyone has had any luck with either app and if so can you give any details on how you got it to work?

I use Beats. It seems to work for me.
I used to use equalizer but switched to dsp manager a while back which works fine.....
Let me reinstall equalizer to see if it still works.
Are we talking head phones or tab speakers here btw?
EDIT: Well I just tried equalizer and it worked brilliantly! :good: So it is something with you setup. You have enabled it from settings, sound, music effect haven't you?

Yes, music effects has been toggled to equilizer. Hmm, that's interesting - I presume you are on 4.2.1?
Something is obviously overriding it as the quick blip of extra volume I get when using the pull down and setting max sliders. I have set the sounds to play a ding when I do anything so I hear a quick ding in the louder volume then it goes back to original level.
Also I notice you are not on the stock rom so that may have something to do with it.
Not sure what might be causing it. Anyone else can confirm either this works or they experience the same thing?

No I'm not on stock But very similar.
There is a noticable increase in volume using equalizer. I'm sure there is a free demo version on the play store for you to try.

Yes I've tried this and what I notice is the opposite. When the sliders are reset to the middle the sound is normal (ie. same as without equilizer loaded) but louder than if I set the sliders to maximum.
As I say when I toggle to maximum there is a quick and much louder momentary sound increase which lasts a fraction of a second before going down to the lower volume.
I'm not sure what to look at as being the problem as there isn't much I have loaded that I can see might affect this. Very strange.
Still I'd be interested in anyone that can confirm a working instance with stock rom.
Edit: I have now tried a number of other equilizers and get the same behaviour so it appears something is resisting any change in settings.

I'm currently running Cromi 4.6.9 but have had this same problem on earlier Cromi versions too, actually for most of this year it seems. Which coincides with this thread saying the 4.2.1 update caused it for many people on various Nexus devices, which is referenced in Equalizer's app description on Google Play.
Equalizer always worked great for me until around then, and I've tried many things like uninstall/reinstall, other boosters including DSP Manager, even did full wipes during this period, but the volume just doesn't boost anymore. I use PowerAmp, and its built-in equalizer boosts the volume just as loud as Equalizer app used to do, which shows it's still possible but only within that app. Btw, I used PowerAmp in the past when Equalizer also worked fine, so I don't think it creates a conflict.
After seeing the above thread, I tested Equalizer on my Nexus 4 phone, which normally needs no volume boosting, with the same result - for a split-second it's louder but then goes to a slightly lower level than you started at, just as on my TF700. To me this indicates it would work correctly, but something else that wasn't there before now dampens it almost immediately.
@sdbags:
If for you it's apparently working correctly with same ROM as me on a TF700, can you think of why it's not for others? Also thanks for your fine work!
Hi,
Firstly I'm an audiophile. I listen to my music a lot. Usually will listen to music in my car via connecting the aux cable to my phone. (I'm poor so no money for a usb media player ) Using poweramp, and aux cable connection/disconnection will play/pause, skip tracks using volume keys.
Previously was using S3 with a custom CM rom that works perfect. So felling in love with the stock android/AOSP/CM features and looks. I decided to get a OPO and sold off my S3. Sadly I'm a little bit disappointed.
There is a serious bug in OPO whereby when you connect the aux cable to the phone, it will continue playing the song like for a few seconds, and will either
1) in certain roms, will come out the annoying "say call, followed by a name or a number" thingy (voice dialing). And then music will stop, in the end need to manually resume the music.
2) in some roms, it will come out the ok google thingy
3) I tried disabling all the google stuff, even if everything is gone, it will STILL resume playing songs for a few seconds once connect the aux cable, and will just STOP without any interruptions.
Believe me. I've tried MANY MANY roms. From CM12.1s/OxygenOS/Exodus/Sultan CM12.1/Exodus/DU/SlimLP/AICP/Resurrection Remix/BlissPop blablabla with different kernels such as Boeffla/AK IT STILL ALL HAS THE SAME PROBLEM.
Please help. Thanks all.
EDIT 28TH OCTOBER 2015
I have LITERALLY tried ALL custom roms of OPO, all has this problem. But finally narrowed the issue down. It is due to raising the volume to the max, after the SAFE VOLUME warning. If its below the safe volume, it will run fine. Someone, for the love of god, help me. I love my OPO but it can't even do something so simple *facepalm*
There is a loose contact in your cable...Try a different one...
No problems here with my opo while listening to the music in my car via., aux cable....

Also,

Hi sir,
I'm a big fan of your rom. Unfortunately I've used your build days ago and reflashed it today the problem is still there.
If I just flash your rom without with/without gapps (I use TK stock gapps):
1) Headsets no problems as well (even if max volume, FYI I use original Samsung/Asus headsets)
2) Aux cable has the same problem like ALL roms. It has no problem auto-playing if its below the safe volume warning. If you raise it above the safe volume warning, it will auto-play for a second and stop without any reason. Let's say I put my aux volume to max, it will revert back to the headsets volume (which is very low) also after the songs are stopped. Then I would have to increase the volume back to maximum and manually resume the song. (FYI, I use Gator AUX cable in my car, http://www.ebay.com/itm/AUX-CABLE-M...hash=item4ace2c5a03:m:m66QamlvCxsYb6MBL-KYlLA )
EDIT 30 OCTOBER 2015
For AUX cable, it will stop after a few seconds no matter what, even if its below the safe volume warning. Have tested it out the whole day to confirm the trend/pattern!
3) Your rom doesn't have the annoying "OK Google & Voice Dialler" thingy popping out.
Really appreciate you taking a look at my problem. Hope that the problem can be fixed and I can fall in love with my bacon again :crying:

Hi i also use aux cable in my BT audio car (just because BT have more hissing and crappy high tones) and have this problem as well but...
1) i dont like when music starts just when i put cable in...
2) in your situation i would try some tasker scripts which start playing music after some time since cable is plugged. Lets say 6 seconds .. I think it may solve your problem until allmighty codewizard @Sultanxda find solution for our crappy hw-sw problem..
I saw this topic was many times mentioned in his ROM thread.

Do you use tasker?? Even if it works, its still very inconvenient as I have to manually set the volume to maximum again (or else would be very soft in the car).
Sincerely hope that Lord SultanXda can solve this problem, would be eternally thankful! :crying: I've brought this up with several developers but none of them paid any atttention to this problem in our beloved Bacon. That's why I'm so happy that even SultanXda even replied in this thread.
added new information above
If your issue is still not fixed then its most likely the aux cables
Yes this issue is rare it happens with me too but only with certain cables
Its because of the depth and the size of the cable that causes higher output to confuse the kernel into thinking that the mic for Google now is activated
I've seen a workaround in some kernel somewhere but it won't completely solve your issue.
The only possibility (as of now) is to get a slimmer ,3 layered 3.5 mm aux cable

I've bought more than 5 aux cables, but all still has the same issue. I don't think its due to the cables. In Sultan XDA's rom & certain roms, the mic/ok google does not come out and was fixed by him. But just randomly stops and does not resume back.

try other players
hey there from a fellow audiophile (at least while driving) i am on sultan's rom 27th-oct build. Also on rocket player, i used to have a problem with the headset buttons (xiaomi pistons) prior to he 27th-oct build. but from that afterwards, everything is perfect.
about the aux cable thing, i've always had two music apps (playerpro since earlier builds of android. and rocket player) but recently (on opo) removed the playerpro (on a cm11s build, cause it was a battery hog compared to rocketplayer).
Anyway, rocket player has all the features you want (autoplay on connection, enabled through settings) and track seek through long pressing the volume rocker buttons, yet adjusting volume when short pressing rocker buttons (Vol +/-). and none of the issues you're facing, only a couple of times (on sultan's rom) in case the aux cable isn't connected right! (as in half in or so bu not all into the audio socket)
i tried to recreate/induce what you're experiencing with rocketplayer, and it happened once only, when flicking the aux cable and turning it around while remaining in the socket.
i can't try poweramp, since i'm not on wifi, and not that good coverage over here. so you might give rocket player, or other music apps a shot
i hope this pose isn't considered an advertisement or sth :silly: :silly:

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried the two players in Sultan Cm12.1 latest stable.
For PlayerPro, exactly same like Poweramp. Headsets no problem as usual. Aux will stop immediately after 1-2seconds, volume will revert back to headsets volume.
For Rocket Player, its a nice player , but:
In order for it to autoplay, the app must be turned on (if clear all recent apps it doesn'twork). And if you notice, even tho the auto play works, because if using aux it will stop after 1-2seconds, but the program will turn it on again (that's why there's static). ANd every reboot you gotta turn on the app again. And also, usually aux will have its own last set volume and headsets will also have its. But using Rocket Player, even tho it works, it will only remember the headsets volume. Like all that I mentioned in the first page. Even if I put max volume for aux , when connected after 1-2seconds it will go back to the headsets volume. There's an option to set the default volume level in Rocket Player, but which means only one default volume.
Really frustrated and disappointed with our phone. Even my 5 year old lenovo phone with 512mb of ram can do this thing properly.
I just tried my AUX cable along with my 3 headsets. One of the headsets is broken (loose cable contacts), and that's the only one that gives bad sound and pops up the voice search. Try another cable, or try the same cable on another stereo, I'm pretty sure it's those two. BTW I'm using jgcaap's CM12.1 with AK kernel.

I did try clearing it from both, recents and running apps/services but it still works flawlessly... Maybe the problem is on your end... And uf you've got time, backup through twrp, copy all your data (including twrp backup, music, photos etc.) to a computer. Flash stock rom THROUGH fastboot mode, either manually with commands through cmd. Exe or using bacon toolkit. Then flash sultan's rom, or your rom of choice. Which in my opinion is the cleanest flash anyone can get. Since it completely erases everything.. That's how i do it with anyrom, if planning to move to it. After trying it with a normal clean flash (wiping system, data, cache, dalvik). Just to be sure that there are no residuals what so ever
Other than that... Mmmh maybe you played with the permissions of rocketplayer? Or if you've got an app that does (any task killer, greenify, powernap etc. )

I've used the jgcaap's CM12.1 along with AK kernel, still has same problem. Like I mentioned before - headsets has no problems. Only when you use AUX via your PC speakers / car cd player. Are you sure you're using the correct cable/setup? THis problem is nothing new, just google the AUX problem with bacon and there's alot of cases will pop-out.

Hi thanks,
I've double tested. Turns out when you first boot up your device, you gotta give it some time like 1-2mins and the auto-play will come out. Like I said before, its a good music app don't get me wrong - but it still doesn't solve the ROOT of the problem.
I use headsets & aux, both have their own default volumes. As in I plugged in headsets, it will have the LAST set volume for headsets. And if I plugged in my AUX, it will have the LAST set volume for AUX. (I put MAX for AUX and minimal for headsets)
If you test it out with the AUX, it will still stop after 1-2seconds, and then the "AUTOPLAY ON CONNECT" feature will appear again and the autoplay will once again resume. If you don't use the default set volume on rocket player, it will keep reverting my AUX volume from max to the minimal volume for headsets.
Hope you understand. Thanks again.

Anybody have a solution to this? I've tried u sing media volume sync and it helps a little bit but the S8 has much lower volume on Bluetooth overall than any other pho me I've used in recent memory. Doesn't matter if I'm using my headset or in the car.
Do you have the volume on the phone turned up??
I've noticed some anomalies around bluetooth audio volume as well. For instance, I can be running Waze and Pandora on my car or though my headset on my motorcycle. Volume settings are maxed out on the phone, with the final master volume being either my headset dial on the bike, or head unit volume control in the car. Pandora never seems to be at quite full volume and just after Waze finished speaking a notification, Pandora volume will increase for a fraction on a second and then be reduced again. It's like there is some type of limiting going on and I've disabled all limit settings that I can find.
This is not just related to Pandora, but other streaming apps as well. And without Waze running, I don't notice increased volume in the streaming apps. Waze just seems to somehow enable the short period of increased volume.
Let's see if we can solve this once and for all. I've been experimenting and I am having some results. But does require an equalizer app. I am using Equalizer FX so I don't know how these steps work on other ones.
Open the app, click the three dots in the upper right > Settings > check "Global audio output mix" it's description reads, "Warning! It does not work for new devices. We do not recommend to use this feature. However this is the only solution for some players." (I am using YT Music)
After you turn that setting on, go back and click the middle tab "Effects" and you'll need to turn on "Loudness Enhancer" then use the slider to adjust it to your personal taste.
You don't even need to have the main page equalizer turned on. Just the main toggle needs to be on, the one right next to the three dots.
This part is just a little extra for those who don't understand the issue. SoundAlive maintains the media volume separately from all other device sounds. In the past we just used Package Disabler, turned it off, boom no more limited bluetooth music volume. Now it seems, it cannot be disabled with going rooted. *Flips table* You can easily demonstrate the issue by making sure you have setting on for the device volume synced with bluetooth volume. Connect to a bluetooth speaker, play a song, then plug and unplug an aux cable into the phone, you'll notice probably a 30% volume difference.

I've noticed the same thing running Waze, it's like something is limiting the output.
FWIW, I've also noticed the same behavior when the phone is connected to my car stereo. I'll have to pay attention to whether it occurs with other devices. I suspect the behavior will be the same. I can pause any playing music and then un-pause it and the music will start at full volume before the volume seems to get limited. I don't have another Android phone that I can try this with and I've never noticed such behavior with either Windows Phone or iPhone.

I can tell you my past Android phones didn't do this.. The last two were a Droid Turbo 2 and an LG G2.

I do usually have DriveMode (and sometimes Waze) running although I've run experiments without it with the same results. There just seems to be some sort of limiter being applied.

I've got the same problem with my S8+. Samsung support simply say try resetting the phone, but as the problem was there from new, what difference is that going to make! It seems to be a fundamental issue with this particular model (8 & 8+), as my iPhone7 and my older Note4 don't have the problem.
Same here. I use V4Android, as it's mixed into the CarHDROM v9, works excellently to overcome the system low vole on my 8+
I m not sure if a solution... But I tried disabling Bluetooth Media Volume Sync ( Settings - Bluetooth - Options (3 dots on the top right) - Media Volume Sync - (Turn off) )..
This gives phone media its own volume and the bluetooth device to control its own volume.
The volume is better after this for me.

I'm having the same issue, but I don't have the option for Media Volume Sync as apparently my car's stereo doesn't support that function. Any other ideas on how to get this fixed?

you might be misunderstanding the original poster. I have the s8+ and I did what he was talking about on the phone. On your s8+, you go to system settings -> Connections -> Bluetooth then if you tap on 3 dot top right menu, you will see 3 choices: Dual audio, Media Volume Sync, Bluetooth control history. If you tap on the media volume sync, it will be on but blacked out so that you can't turn it off, so what I did was in that menu select dual audio and turn that on. It will say it has to shut off media volume sync yes/no - select yes and media volume sync will now be off. Then just turn back off the dual audio and media volume sync will still be off.
Sorry that was long, hope it helps.
Fixed!

Thanks! This pointed me in the right direction, although my solution was just the opposite. Turning this on solved my problem. Just a week ago my S8+ had no issues with Bluetooth volume. But I sent it for repairs and they updated the software. After that, the max volume on my earbuds were a whisper. Turning Bluetooth media volume sync on brought it back to previous pre-repair levels. Maybe it works in my case because the earbuds don't have any volume control. I don't recall ever touching this setting previously though.
I also had surround sound on , turned that off and it helped. Sorry if I missed this somewhere earlier in the post.

Grad it helped. However, it seems that i am also back to square 1 after some recent update... Bluetooth audio is just whisper to me now... Specially for videos (be it a video on ur phone or youtube, etc). This is happening to me with a Samsung s8 and a Samsung Level U !!! Reported this to Samsung. Lets c what response i get for it.
Go to settings /general management/ reset/network reset. After this I had to re enter Wi-Fi password but it fixed it. Not my fix found it on YouTube but it works.
Hey I think this problem came after updating to official pie.
The problem is that if I play music on Spotify using a Bluetooth speaker the volume sometimes lowers itself then goes back to the normal volume, then lowers itself again, and it keeps doing that. I have tried 2 different Bluetooth speakers and same problem on both of them. This doesn't happen to my friends phone on of the speakers which is his. Does anyone else have this problem ask as well? It's have you fixed it? Headphone volume is working properly, it's only the Bluetooth.
I think the problem was that I had the volume slider on my phone at Max and only used the buttons on the speaker device to adjust the volume. Having the slider at about 50% I now don't have that problem, for now at least. It was the low bassy parts of songs that most often got it's volume lowered for bit.
You're not crazy! It happened to me and drove me crazy. I think it was an issue with Spotify although I'm not sure but it's gone for me now as far as I can tell..
Finally someone else also. I posted about this one other time but nobody came across. But I guess V4A helped in it, I'm not sure though.

Drove me crazy as well, I did a factory reset. However, the problem got worse, the maximum volume of all my bluetooth devices was extremely low.
I finally fixed the problem by disabling the "Disable absolute volume" in the developer option menu.
Love the oneplus phones, (started at the one), but the audio especially over bluetooth really bothers me...

My first OnePlus phone was also the One. And upgrading to the 6 best decision ever still. But yeah the Bluetooth problem needs to be fixed :/ I tried the disable absolute volume to a while ago but it didn't help for me with the volume going up an down by itself.
This is happening to me. I thought it was my headphones or Deezer but I've tried the headphones with more devices and it doesn't happen. Glad I'm not the only one.
I've had this same issue occur whenever I had V4A Installed. After installation and setup, it'd work just fine, then randomly this same issue occurred. Curious to see if anyone can relate
same problem here, I fixed it by using a custom rom for now
Turn off Bluetooth
Connect a Wired headset go to Audio tuner
Disable Equalizer
Disconnect your wired headset
Turn of Bluetooth again
And Valla! Problem solved.

This fix is working great. Somehow the audio tuner was conflicting with Bluetooth audio output. Although I feel the sound is now a bit flat, the annoying issue is resolved. Need to test this on 9.0.3.

How long I have waited for this yes finally
This issue is all over the airpod subreddit. Apparently the newest airpod pro firmware update screwed up the volume level for Android. It cannot be fixed anymore by disabling/ enabling media sync. Wondering if any of the devs can find a fix or maybe a mod to restore the volume function.

Volume drop issue doesn't happen often with my AirPods Pro. If it happens I disconnect my airpods forget them and reset them by holding airpods case pairing button. This fixes issue for me. Had this issue once since last OS update, was disappointed, because update log clearly stated that they fixed it. :/
go to settings/sound&vibration/Earphone mode
and Disable bluetooth absolute volume
As you know this issue is very widespread with no 100% solution available yet. It is definitely related to android and something in the kernel or whatever because I can pair with other android phones or even flash different roms and sometimes the volume is super loud and other times super quiet. However the latest trick I had to use on my OP7pro running Android 10 / Oxygen 10 STOCK was to pair my airpods to my windows PC first (external bluetooth dongle), which allowed me to ramp the volume up so high it hurt my ears, then just repair to OP7 and finally it understood the volume could go higher than what the airpods were being locked to.
Very annoying and everyone has their tricks, so try mine and see if it works.
