Quite a bit talk these days about burn-in's on pixel 2 xl, just something i've been thinking about, I already know where the nav buttons are from muscle memory, why not just have them not displayed?
Like just have a pure black bar at the bottom lol.
I've been looking at the playstore but i've not seen any themes that do that.
I would be interested in this just for looks.

Am i the only here who dislikes having dark colored themes??
i mean the very few out so far are great but just not my type i like bright colors and am still holding out until one comes out but just wondering if theres others like me who prefer Bright Colors over Dark colors???
Lol I figured this would happen, mostly every theme has been complete monotone, I was surprised to see some even go as far as washing out the colors from the icons - I mean that is just too far, it looks rather yucky lol
I love Manup's Nextheme. I enjoy it much more than the Stock colors. Its great that some of the stock widgets have a translucent background rather than the solid black. I'm not a fan of wild colors, especially since his theme goes so well with the phone!
I can't say the same for that black and white with the colorless icons, bad taste IMO.
I recently had to swap the white HOX for a grey one. And I'm noticing something I don't recall with the prior phone.
Turn on phone.
From the main screen swipe to the furthest left or right screen.
Press the home button and watch the status bar as the screens scroll back home..
Question. As the screens scroll back to the main screen, during that time of movement, does your status bar turn black? Then return to the wallpaper color once screen has stopped moving?
Or as the s greens scroll back to home does your status bar retain the wallpaper color through the whole motion process?
Just tested my white one from at&t and it turned black briefly.

I have a grey one and it did the exact same thing.
It's normal, mine did it too. From a performance perspective it's better to black out the bar than to animate the wallpaper moving underneath the transparency.
Thanks guys.
Great forum y'all got here.
This one x sure is an interesting model.
I've been through build quality roulette.
When I have some time I aught to post about my dramatic screen glass differences between this grey one and the prior white one.
I truly believe what I read here on xda about HTC using between two to four different types of screens in various One X phones.
Just wondering if anyone else hates the way 8.1 tints the screen or completely changes the UI color based on how dark/light your wallpapers is?
I wouldn't mind the dark tint so much if it wasn't such a drastic difference going from your home screen to the settings, Google Now or even swiping down and getting white notifications. It clashes very badly, at least in my opinion. Some of the wallpapers even tint the screen an odd color (first two example pics). It's just a weird design choice. Maybe it's just me though. I've never had such a hard time picking a wallpaper... lol
I attached a picture with some examples.
Anyone else care to chime in?

I'm with you man. Like dark wallpapers, but also love the white UI
Don't like this change at all.

Hate the tinting, make it stop!
It's lazy, idiotic and disgusting. And we're stuck with it, with no hope of anything improving in Android P.
This is annoying, especially because of Now Playing album artwork as background feature, because the tint is STILL the wallpaper color! Best solution I've found is to use dark/black backgrounds - then the tint is merely dimming.

Wallpaper colour based Tints are gone in Android P DP4. It's back to a nice, normal, Black Tint throughout.
Thought i'd share the good news.
@ForeverZ3RO
Does anyone know what version of 8.1 gets rid of the screen tinting. For the pixel 2 its the July patch I believe.
Why the only two options are full tall notch or no notch at all?
They could add an option to have a notch only for the height of the notification icons instead of awkwardly tall?
I'm sure that would be better than the current two choices.

In play, search for notch hide. There are a couple options that let you manually adjust the height. Notch remover is one of them. It has pretty good reviews too.
I was going to do this exactly before I got my phone. I felt I would like a smaller notch a lot better. After having the phone for seriously like an hour I stopped noticing it. I actually kind of like it now. Anyway, obviously your call. And yes you can do this.
The notch is tall enough that they could have 2 rows of notifications.

Exactly what I was thinking... Could Nacho Notch pull this off? Would be great to have a large digital clock on the right and all other notification icons on the left.
I was thinking this is a pretty obvious thing to go after in the roms. I have stopped noticing the notch right up until I notice all that wasted space around it which still gets my attention every time I run out of notification space. That happens far too often because really; who wouldn't run out of visible notifications with only the pitiful quantity given us? Then I cant help but tip into a mental facepalm seeing all the wasted space surrounding those few notifications. Now all of a sudden I'm noticing the stupidly oversized notch again which didn't have to happen but did because some idiot at Google decided that they were going to go all in and even supersize a hardware choice which almost everyone recognizes as temporary stop gap feature that will go away as soon as embedded tech gets advanced enough to replace it.
This is my first notch phone and I'm surprised at how quickly I've gotten used to it. And that was before the black theme I applied last night which hides it most of the time.
I was actually wishing the icons were a little larger though.
My bad eyes couldn't handle two rows of tiny icons.

I use Nacho Notch. In the settings, set the notification bar height to 130. To complement that, set up top corners rounded with height and width 14 dp. Don't round the bottom corners. You'll see why after a little while if you do.

the notch in 10.0.3 gets removed entirely, where before the time, network, notifications, etc would still use this part of the screen. come on oneplus, you can do better!
how you get the update? i'm on 10.0 and can't find the update

Lmao. This option just made our screen smaller. How lazy are the devs. On previous OOS 10.0.1 version, i used SetEdit app to manually hide the notch and it was better.
I've gone back to pie 9.0.9. Oneplus have really screwed up android 10 on the Oneplus 6
I guess I'll stay on 9.0.9 as long as it takes to get this garbage 10 update figured out. Pathetic.
My phone looks stupid now, thanks dev.
SETTINGS-DISPLAY-NOTCH DISPLAY, Is that not working on 10.3.0?
I think this new way is better... No sense to turn black the entire status bar instead of really hide it, now it's like custom roms, i absolutely prefer this new one imo
This is notch hide, before was "turn Black status bar" -_-

The new way is worst. We are using amoled screens hence just like old days turning off pixels is similar to the ones we have in 10.3.0 (which is notch hide i.e. pixels turned off). Atleast we had large screen and use the bar above for notifications.

Imo it's about aesthetic, to have clock, notification battery etc in a black space it seems to be out of the device itself and not inside the design of it..
"Turn black the status bar" was much better
Completely agree. The "new" hide the notch option is hilarious. How the hell they even think about that?
So has anyone had a good experience with 10.3.0?
I like the new one too, It's so symmetrical, while the old one had that tiny curves on the top edges that were so different from the ones on to bottom. But hey, some people like this one, others the old one, so they should probably add the older option as well for everyone to choose the one they prefer.
Yes, give both options. We shouldn't have to argue about which is better. I liked the old method because it kept the same amount of usable space, and that is more important to me than someone else's idea of aesthetics. The new method also makes the phone Look like it has a large forehead.

Is like Pixel 2 with this big notch. If you hide it, the same happens. Tho isnt a big Deal on OP as on a Pixel phone :silly::silly:
I dont hide, but the font on the home screen is soo small I cant read my Time and its always black. (Screenshot attached).
