Battery charge/discharge rate in status bar - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I have been wondering and looking for a way to get real time battery charge/discharge rate in status bar. I was able to get this working in Cool Tool Pro before, but since 7.0 its not working as the estimation does not update properly. I tried to create a custom label and point the path /sys/class/devices/power/battery/current_now (which actually has values), but cool tool pro does not read them at all for some reason.
I am using stock kernel with Sony RIC and rest enabled.
Any ideas ?
Thanks

I just tried the same thing but it still doesn't work.

[Q] HTC HD2 Android - Extended Battery Problem

Hey guys.
First of all thanks for all those who explained/helped me with ur threads to install android on my htc hd2, its fantastic!
My problem... Well i installed 'CLEANDROID' without any problems and am quite happy with it
Theres just one thing i cannot fix yet - My extended HD2 - Battery will never be shown with the correct battery charge condition. I found the app 'battery monitor', that shows the percentage calculated on the base of the current voltage. If the normal aku-viewer shows for example 11 % aku is left, i infact got about 63 % left (at least this is what 'battery monitor says).
Is there any possibility to make my HD2 not to show messages like "LOW BATTERY" and stuff with an app, or a simple setting that i missed so far?
Or even better, is there a possibility to make my hd2 somehow "understand" that theres an extended aku in its back?!
Im greatly thanksful for anyone that might help me !
regards, Ipanema
Same problem. My battery % steps at 15% for several hours before going down with my extended battery
Im not a android fanboi, but as far as i understand it, most kernals dont support extended batterys so not gonna happen.
Also, a quick google found this, amongst other results : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853973 .......remember google is your friend

[Q] Battery consumption live tile

With WP7 mango and all new APIs, I wonder if it is possible to make an instant ( 10 or 20 past seconds) battery consumption indicator, Or a sort of "Batterytool" like htc who can work when the screen is off, like we can found in android.
It could be very useful for making some test.
I'm not a developer but once again I want to thanks the community for their work.
Unfortunately the answer is it's not currently possible to get the battery level through code (through the approved APIs that is; Mango included). I think the best you can do is detect that the phone has transitioned to 'low power', but not e.g. a %.
You can see the current battery % in the battery Saver
which aplication can i use for monitor battery in % ?

You can't.
Only built in battery saver in settings.
for those of you subscribed to this thread and may have missed the other thread there is a solution for people who can sideload here.
works great and with live tile!

[Q] Full battery charge notification

First of all, I'm sorry if that's the wrong section. BTW, I'm looking for a way to get a notification when my battery is fully charge, so that I can know when I can take my phone. I'm running ElementalX on 5.0.1. Thanks in advance!
You should be able to do that with tasker. Maybe you need auto notification, too. With tasker you can easily do something checking your battery charge status. Don't know if you can send a notification.... So that autonotification will help you

Works. No error. But quit useless, i don't know how i could use these data ^^ can i export them into xls file ? Can't remove notification.
Thanks for this. Any chance to measure battery cycles?

Yes, enable Show sys/class/power_supply in the app settings.
And have a look at sys/class/power_supply/battery, there you'll see battery_cycle.
I don't know why but I can't seem to add a screenshot to this post, see the first post for the screenshots.

Thanks for your response.
While the app is gathering data you'll see a notification so you know that it's working in the background and yes you can't dismiss that notification.
With the data you'll be able to keep track of your battery temperature, the lower, the better for the longevity of your battery. Or you could compare different ways of charging your device, fast/slow, plugged/wireless.
I'm putting exporting the data on my to-do list.
Could you tell me the model of your phone and post a screenshot of the graph?
Thanks again!

Will do and will get back to you.
i just installed it, will test soon. but at first sight, i see a minor visual mistake in the settings, where the top bar is too tall when it doesn't include tabs, not according to material design guidelines

lol...first of all this so rude to say something like this. And this app can be so useful to use while you are checking your chargers and charging cycles etc. If you can not contribute something then stop cluttering the app threads. Its like you can move on and please don't bother to reply

Hi, it wasn't an attack, i did a test and tell what i though. There no "tutorial" in the app so i was wondering what could i do. Don't judge too fast boy
PS: tested on Sony Z3 - marshmallow
Just installed on my Oneplus 2, running oxygenos 3.5.6
Everything seems to be ok, except that there are no units showing next to the numbers. Also, current shows too many numbers, seems to be showing μA instead of mA.
I can provide screenshots or anything else if needed for help
Thanks for the app of course!
Edit: Both aforementioned issues seem to be present on a friend's LG G2 as well.
Edit 2: After the 15% calibration passed and phone charged, everything is ok. Numbers are normal, units show up, so cheers again for the app!
Feedback!
Liked the interface! Lucid and simple to use. From the screenshot you can see battery charge cycle is something about 742. Can you tell me what can you determime from this?
Bdw tested on Samsung S6 Edge G925I having Alexis rom installed
Very good app, just what I was looking for long time ago. just one thing, if is possible to put an switch to invert the charging current, as some devices it appears an negative value when charging. My device is OnePlus 3
Working well
Hi I've just installed on my LG G4 with stock MM and everything seems ok but there's one bug, on history screen when I'll click on history of charging nothing happens, long press works as it should...
This looks like a really useful app, installed on all my devices that will report charging data, will offer feedback if/where I find it.
I know this is about charging, but in your to do list, is there discharging as well? I would love that so much, especially if you do build in export capability.
Excellent work, thank you for putting it out here.

Don't worry, I didn't take it as an attack, but as a genuine question. Yeah I should improve the fist post a bit.....

Thanks!! Yes different phones reporting the battery current in different units (μA or mA and hopefully no others) is one of the reasons why I'm asking for your help here.
oneplus 3 user here, running official resurrection remix, 7.1.1, stock kernel
so, i've been using it for a while now, and here's what i have to say:
good design, although the top bar in settings should be thinner, the black theme is awesome.
it does the job of monitoring the charging process very well, the data seems to be accurate and can surely be useful
the app is lightweight, drains no resources and has no noticeable impact on the phone's behavior or performance
here's what i suggest to make the app better:
when viewing the chart of the active charging cycle (opened from within the app, not from the notification), add autorefresh every few seconds so people don't have to exit and reopen it to refresh
make the line for charging current display the absolute value of the current and fix the 0-line on the bottom so it makes more sense
it would be awesome to display cpu load and cpu temperature as optional lines in the chart, so one can compare the impact of using the phone while charging
but i have to say, good job so far, if i were you, i'd do some polishing, slap a google ad to the bottom, add a donate option and post it to the play store .
I tried it. Asus ZenFone 2, running Android 5.0, stock and rooted.
I think it also showed some odd numbers when the app started, but I'll check again tomorrow to make sure.
P.S. Maybe you can add an option to cut the graph to show just the actual charging? I left my phone connected to the charger a while after it was fully charged, so the time is wrong, and I really want to know how long it takes my phone to be fully charged .

Battery Level stuck at 20%?

Hello, there has been a problem with my pixel 3 since yesterday where my phone seems to be stuck at 20%. I have tried various methods to fix this which include:
Draining till phone shuts off then charged overnight while off
Flashed stock rom multiple times by cmd and by google's browser flashing
Opened the phone to unplug and plug battery connector
Various calibrator apps, rooted and tried resetting sys/power supply/battery/batt-reset-soc (however i dont think this was usable at all)
HOWEVER... I can see true battery stats in TWRP. I have no clue what's going on. can anyone help me please? The problem might have initially started when i rooted or unrooted magisk before everything tho i've never experienced this and can't really understand how and why this is happening since twrp shows correct figures. BTW the stats in battery configure apps are always the same, 20% 26.2C temp 3.69V.
I am experiencing the same issue. A week ago, after a random reboot the battery level got stuck at 57%. I was on rooted Android 12 since November and flashed the Factory Image released in January a few days before the issue.
Since I was having a bad Android 12 experience anyway (random phone freezing, restarts of Google Maps on my Android Auto car stereo, Spotify being killed in the background when taking photos), I reverted to Android 11 two days ago, but unfortunately the battery issue persists.
For now I am using a Tasker Run Shell command to parse /etc/sys/class/power_supply/battery/capacity, which returns the correct percentage.

I looked up the file in root explorer and it actually does show the correct percentage when opened with text editor. How do I use this command in tasker. I tried but i couldn't make it work with the code. Can you show me some instructions on how to do so?

Sure! I think the info that was missing, is that you need cat to parse the file. The actual command of the Run Shell action would then be cat /etc/sys/class/power_supply/battery/capacity and you can store its result in a variable.
Anyway, here is the TaskerNet link to my project. It reads the battery capacity and (what I believe is the correct) temperature every two minutes and updates a notification that shows the approximate battery level as its icon. The original (wrong) battery icon in the status bar is hidden. Also, a thin line visualizes the battery percentage just below the status bar.

Thank You so much. I can't believe I found a workaround for this. I really liked pixels but seeing this happening in their os will really impact how much I would recommend pixels to others. I really can't thank you enough!

I haven't been able to figure out yet, if this issue is really OS-related. A few days ago, my USB connection got unstable, too. This happened multiple times before, but cleaning out the USB port always helped. Unfortunately not this time, although I even used contact spray. In comparison to earlier issues, where the USB connection worked or just didn't work, now it just randomly toggles its connection state. I'm not sure yet, if I should swap the USB port (and the battery) or just accept, that my hardware keeps failing and look for a new device.
