So some apps under battery usage have the ability to restrict background usage but not all. I would think system services you can't, but you actually can on Google play services. What is the impact of doing this? And why can't you do it on apps like chrome? When you do this, do push messages still work?

Hello,
on the S6 it's possible to disable the Facebook app, but there are two services still running and make updates outside the Google play store, so even if I have disabled auto updates, Facebook does it!
The services are called
.com.facebook.appmanager
.com.facebook.system
How can I stop these services from starting up without root?
Thanks for your help
You simply can't
Since these are system services and anything system related cant be deactivated without root.

use package disabler pro app from play store. Let's you disable these as well as Samsung bloatware.
I force stopped everything with Facebook in the name (4 things), unchecked notifications and cleared data. It didn't come up in my update list. But if it comes back I'll get the package disabled app.

How about the delayed notifications issue that affects other Xiaomi devices (such as the Redmi Note 3)? Does it affect the the Mi4c too?
Thanks.
It can be easily solved by going to:
Settings -> Additional settings -> Battery & performance -> Manage app battery usage -> OFF
This way MIUI won't control apps in background and notifications will show up real time.
It does consume a bit more battery but it worths.
I had the same problem for whatsapp on my Mi4C. The battery restriction change didn't solve it for me. I did all the other changes I could find, eg. Autostart whatsapp, lock whatsapp from recent app removal, still lengthy delay until I start whatsapp again. The last thing I've done was autostart google services framework, then reboot device, seems to be working.

On Mi4c I had a problem with the Mail app and a Gmail account. After 2 weeks of search, I couldn't figure out what was wrong. It was obviously more buggy on Wifi.
I ended by installing Cloud Magic and no problem since that.
I didn't try again to see if it's OK now. I didn't try again.
So we can say the Mi4c is affected, like every Miui device probably.

Yeah, I think I've read that google services is the key.
How do you make the google services framework in autostart? external app?
MIUI comes with a Security app. Go in there and click Permissions and you will see Autostart. Autostart both Google Services Framework and Whatsapp or other messaging apps you use.

I have only Google Play serveices for Instant Apps here. Is it the same?
Guys I am facing issues in getting push notifications on my One plus 7 pro. I have to open the apps including my Mail box (IMAP), Instagram, Olx (online shopping) and multiple other apps to refresh and then get notifications. I have opted not to optimize these apps under battery optimization but all in vain. Please guide.

Have you tried to disable deep optimization and optimization for standbymode in the advanced settings for battery optimization?
Also have a look at the background data restriction.
Yes I have done both. Still not working
Disable doze and see if that helps, it did here (otherwise no gmail notifications here).
did you try locking those apps in Recent Apps page?
I'm kind of a noob on these apps but it seems that there are 3 "hidden" Facebook apps that sometimes I see running when I check my battery usage (Facebook app Manager, Installer and Services). I was wondering if it's safe to remove them or if it will have some impact on the functionality of Facebook.
You can't send or reply to FB messages unless that crapware is loaded on the device I believe.
So if you want to use those features...
FB is malware. Personally I ditched it years ago as it can't be safely used. It is known a purveyor of disinformation and data miner extreme.

AFAIK Facebook uses Facebook app manager and Facebook app installer to update their software and bypassing the Google Play app store.
So i should not disable any of them?
Correct.

Hi, i was checking my data usage and while im a paranoid android regarding privacy i can ignore things like "Weather" apps using data, or system updates and OS and so on. However google play services uses data, even if a bit, on the regular. Why is that? I dont have any google account or service in my phone and i disabled the weird google antivirus play protect. Is this because of the base google services that i need for many apps to run?
