Facebook app Manager, Installer and Services - Safe to remove? - General Questions and Answers

I'm kind of a noob on these apps but it seems that there are 3 "hidden" Facebook apps that sometimes I see running when I check my battery usage (Facebook app Manager, Installer and Services). I was wondering if it's safe to remove them or if it will have some impact on the functionality of Facebook.

You can't send or reply to FB messages unless that crapware is loaded on the device I believe.
So if you want to use those features...
FB is malware. Personally I ditched it years ago as it can't be safely used. It is known a purveyor of disinformation and data miner extreme.

AFAIK Facebook uses Facebook app manager and Facebook app installer to update their software and bypassing the Google Play app store.

So i should not disable any of them?

Correct.

Those are just stock apps.....
They should not slow down the phone that much.....
You can always remove those apps using Root Explorer app....
Or you can disable them from starting at start up using a third party app....
I use "Android Assistant".....
No email and Gmail are seperate.I use titanium backup to uninstall all this bloatware

[Q] [Startup Management] Disabling Native Android Apps At StartUp

I would Like to disable Play Store, Maps, Facebook, Hotmail, What's new and Some other 3rd party application from starting up with the phone. I would like to kepp these applications and only disable it's startup during booting. Anyone have a Solution.
I also dont want to delete or freeze them just to exclude apps from starting on boot.Help would be appreciated.
Guys Titanium Backup and ROM Toolbox are a few that does the job. Try them
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda app-developers app
Some update guys?!
Have you tried those applications? Did you solved your problems?
I tried Titanium and only did freeze app, not exclude from booting, didn't try ROM toolbox will do.
Did try to disable using System tuning pro. It disables the app completely. In a way I could stop LG's crappy App's.
I use Super Manager,it also has a function of disabling startup items.
There are many apps can do this . If you want the best app it's called "startup manager"
Or you can use "system tuner"
Sent from my LG-P920
I use Gemini App Manager, I am unable to change all "Auto Run" options disabling any app I want from auto running for whatever reason, including but not limited to the device booting. I have changed all non essential apps to only run when I launch them. I use gemini for a lot of things, including copying apps from phone to SD and/or back to phone, uninstalling, etc. Its a great little app.
I think this seems like the right thread for me... I'm running ICS 4.0.3 on a factory rooted 7" Craig CMP741e tablet (CVS special, starter tab, AnTuTu rating about 4300). This is my first tablet, so I'm learning as I go. I want to try to speed up boot time. I'm running ES Task Manager. I've already disabled all non-system files from starting on boot, I just want to know which of these system files I can safely disable from the startup list without hurting anything:
Aldiko Premium
Calendar Storage
Contacts
Download Manager
Email
Exchange Services
GetJar
GMail
Google Contacts Sync
" " Partner Setup
" " Services Framework
Maps
Media Storage
MusicFX
YouTube
Those are all the ones that ES is suggesting I keep enabled. I don't want to actually remove any of them from my tablet, I just don't want them wasting any memory and causing lag until I actually choose to use them. It's a beginner tablet, just trying to squeeze as much performance out of it as possible.

Miui delayed notifications bug

How about the delayed notifications issue that affects other Xiaomi devices (such as the Redmi Note 3)? Does it affect the the Mi4c too?
Thanks.
It can be easily solved by going to:
Settings -> Additional settings -> Battery & performance -> Manage app battery usage -> OFF
This way MIUI won't control apps in background and notifications will show up real time.
It does consume a bit more battery but it worths.
I had the same problem for whatsapp on my Mi4C. The battery restriction change didn't solve it for me. I did all the other changes I could find, eg. Autostart whatsapp, lock whatsapp from recent app removal, still lengthy delay until I start whatsapp again. The last thing I've done was autostart google services framework, then reboot device, seems to be working.
Sent from my Mi-4c using xda premium
On Mi4c I had a problem with the Mail app and a Gmail account. After 2 weeks of search, I couldn't figure out what was wrong. It was obviously more buggy on Wifi.
I ended by installing Cloud Magic and no problem since that.
I didn't try again to see if it's OK now. I didn't try again.
So we can say the Mi4c is affected, like every Miui device probably.

Yeah, I think I've read that google services is the key.
How do you make the google services framework in autostart? external app?
MIUI comes with a Security app. Go in there and click Permissions and you will see Autostart. Autostart both Google Services Framework and Whatsapp or other messaging apps you use.

I have only Google Play serveices for Instant Apps here. Is it the same?

[APP][MOD] Messenger Old Chat Heads for Android 11+

With Android 11 came the bubble functionality, which displaced the chat head mechanism in Messenger. Unfortunately bubbles are very buggy - for example on OnePlus phones they are responsible for freezing the whole phone.
That's why I've created a MOD for Messenger which brings back the old chat heads.
Install guide
Uninstall all Facebook apps (Facebook, Messenger, Facebook Lite, Messenger Lite, Facebook Business Suite etc).
Install the apps from this post (the ones you are using)
Enjoy!
(If you use Facebook apps that are not attached to this post, let me know, I'll resign apks and add them)
--------------------------------------------
DEPRACATED 08.08.2022Messenger brought back old chat heads to their official application, this mod is no needed anymore
You can uninstall modded apks and install official ones from Google Play.
If you encounter any problems with official apps (e.g. crashing when trying to open an app). You probably needs to clear dalvik cache.
UPDATE 06.01.2022
DOWNLOAD: AndroidFileHost
New versions:
- Messenger 342.1.0.14.119
- Facebook 349.0.0.0.122 alpha
Phone calls in Messenger should be fixed in this version
UPDATE 20.10.2021
New versions:
- Messenger 335.0.0.17.75
- Facebook 341.0.0.2.73
Download here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...s-for-android-11.4300779/page-5#post-85806197
Please give me feedback, if everything is all right I will replace files in this post.
UPDATE 7.09.2021
New versions:
- Messenger 329.0.0.10.118
- Facebook 336.0.0.0.85 alpha (I had troubles with decompiling standard/beta versions)
UPDATE 27.07.2021
New versions - facebook_330.0.0.0.102.apk and messenger_324.0.0.0.62.apk.
Fixed:
- connection Facebook <=> Messenger (sharing videos, opening Messenger from Facebook)
- (highly possible) Facebook not refreshing wall
Let me know if Facebook Lite or Business Manager is needed to be updated as well
Your browser is not able to display this video.

So the version of FB in my phone is showing as a system app. I can't uninstall. Attaching pics. Can u tell me how to uninstall plz? It shows"installed" but I can't uninstall, if I go thru the play Store, it gives the "uninstall updates to this system app" only option. I have it disabled because I don't trust it *note NO PERMISSIONS REQUIRED. Yeah well that's too fishy. Plus I'm locked out of FB right now cause i have 2 factor on & when I get the code & enter it I get an error msg invalid code. I left FB services enabled so I can continue using IG. I really miss using Messenger, if u have any suggestions I'd much appreciate.

Thank you so much for this! Gone are the days of suffering through awful chat bubbles.
I have a weird bug on Facebook though. Posts aren't updating so I see the same posts even after force stopping the app and clearing the cache. This only happens to posts under "Home", not "Recent". Is there a fix for this?

How do I deal with a device that didn't come with Calendar Storage?

I have a strange device from Alibaba (Touchwo panel https://www.alibaba.com/product-det...a2756.order-detail-ta-ta-b.0.0.5d732fc2KN7LdB) that came with Android 11 and most components, including Play Services, but it doesn't seem to have come with the Calendar Storage component. I tried to get a random .apk and install that but it didn't work, and I have no idea where I would find one specific to this device. Is there any way to install the component or otherwise get calendar apps to work? I just need one that syncs with Google Calendar and that I can use as a widget.

I don't understand what you're asking. Using the calendar within a browser is not helpful to me, I want to place a widget on the home screen. Or, if you're asking me to open the built-in calendar app, that doesn't even open without Calendar Storage installed.

If you are not satisfied with the help provided in the form of discussion, I can't help it.
Welp, then find Calendar Storage app, from some ROMs, this app is mostly same from ROM to ROM.
Find/use a free 3rd party calendar app. Find one that's ad free and allows for backup. Samsung's have one integrated into their ecosystem so I never pursued one. I try to avoid using Gookill products...
I can actually relate, i dont use Google apps too. like for one or two years, Disabling them gives large slice in privacy and productivity and battery life with memory as well.

A map app that doesn't need Gmaps running in the background be nice. Gmaps always runs at start up. Trashware and spyware.
I still use Gmail but manual sync only and Google play Services is temporarily disabled unless I use Gmail. Framework, backup Transport and Playstore disabled. A bunch of other Google trashware as well. At least a 15% boost in SOT and screen off time savings. Makes a huge difference on this stock N10+. Google is a mess and only getting worse... internet Krokodil.
Fortunately there are a lot of great 3rd party freeware apps especially if still running on Android 9. Google is making harder for developers as Android becomes more of a rotten Apple with each OS release. Google aka Spectre.

3rd-party apps use Calendar Storage as well. I do want something that at least integrates with Google Calendar because my job uses it. If you know of any that integrate with Google Calendar but don't use Calendar Storage, that would be great, because I wasn't able to find any.
