Hi. Is your device rooted. Have you tried battery calibration. It's free from the app store. I've had the same problem. Battery calibration fixed mine.

You could give it a try. It's worth a shot atleast. I think you could calibrate without root. It's a small app try downloading it from the app store.
You should definitely try battery calibration, also with different apps.
I mean it is "normal" that the battery drains out quicker the last few percent if the battery is a bit older, but "a few seconds" as you say is way too fast.

Ok I charge my phone overnight battery is at 100% ,after 4-5 hours of moderate use I'm still at 100% But once it goes down to 99% or lower it's draining fast ,someday I lost as much as 50% in a couple hours of very light used.

People please report on this also. I have a similar issue on my new sensation . Yesterday I took it of the charge and used out some. From 8 to 2 or showed 100%. Then later it started dropping . By 5 it was at 95.

It is because the battery hadn't calibrated itself with the OS.

I can only see calibrators for rooted phones Battery bug has been reported before in another thread. You could try changing the fast boot setting so the phone turns off properly instead of going into hibernation. That's what I did the other night. Seems to have made a difference just go into power section in settings. So many factors cam effect battery. Poor 3G signal. Auto sync. Auto brightness. Maybe try root explorer see if that makes a difference. But after a week or so charging your battery should be calibrated but then there are some that will dispute that the battery don't need to be calibrated...lol
hello,
i have I5801 galaxy 3..
currently on kies Froyo firmware..
from since flashing to froyo ..
1) whenever i talk on phone (ie do voice call) battery drains out in even less then a hour when fully charged..
2) when kept for charging.. even if battery shows like 10% remaining .. within like a min or two.. battery indicator shows an 100% charged status.
and it drains out in like 10 mins if removed from charging
what i think is somehow froyo is assuming it's charged and is stopping the charging process.
i've rooted it, and tried calibration.. still no luck.. I've deleted batterystats.bin regularly, still a new file is created and no change in battery condition is seen
plz help.. too much frustrated
PS: i am not a pro.. so help plz

don't delete batterystats.bin do some full charge discharge then report.
tried that.. still no change
battery drained off in 30-40 mins..
does ATK make battery drain? somewhere along on some phone someone said that draining battery to nil and charging back cycle makes battery life even shorter.. dunno what to do..

Calibrate your battery after doing a full charge. And use as "normal" for few normal cycles, just like you usually did.

Hi
Try using light version of g3mod kernel instead of oc based.
You can flash your phone with my Rom and test after full battery charge. note some apps are battery drainer like tweetcaster etc due to continuous sync.
Try to stop those services and test your phone thereafter..it will show improvement. .and dont delete any battery calibration seetting once done after you flash thats all.
Do let me know if it not happens.
Cheers.

i flashed g3mod-2.0-nonoc
still when i try to put it to charge..
say currently it shows like 40% charge.. but as soon as i put it on charging (via AC) .. it shoots up directly to 90-100 in two minutes.... this should be wrong, right?
darin rate is also bad
it showed 100% charged and a 3 min call .. made battery level goto 45%

Ok try this .. convert all partition to rfs & flash any stock ROM with stock kernel.. Use Ur phone like that 2-3days.. See if any improvement..

err STOCK kernel means official right?
also how to convert parition to rfs.. is this about partitioning SDcard? coz if it is i've tried using without any card insert .. still same
i was thinking about G3mod 2.0 Beta2 kernel .. heard it uses very less battery..
but i've got a question ( and i can't ask in development forum as per post limitation) that does the 2.0 Beta2 uses less battery than the official samsung jp6 kernel? or should i try flashing that?
(now i may look like stupid asking these question)
first of all, sorry for bumping this after a month..
actually G3 wasnt with me from then, now it's back and problem persists
what i notice is that
1) phone when put to charge, shoots up to 100% in 5-10 mins, even when off
2) and same with the drain, it goes to 1% in 5-10mins
i checked out with battery, and it is fine they(samsung service center) say,..
plz help, i am at question as to what is the reason for this sudden rise and fall of battery level.

nope... i had used it before but now i am currently on I5801DDJP6 updated from 2.1 eclair via kies
its stock,unrooted, no modifications..
i'd calibrate battery, but the fact that it shoots up t0 100% in 10 mins
and what i guess is when phone detects 100% battery, it pretty much stops charging after that, thus battery starves ..
can something be done so that it actually gets accurate reading on battery status ?
Switch off your cell...let it full charge....
Then switch on the device and flash the cyanogen mod...
Its fast, stable and also increases the battery power...
had the exact same problem...did that and now works for almost two days...

cyanogenMod site doesnt show Galaxy 3 support...
btw u are saying ROM or kernel?? coz i like stock ROM of samsung as it's easy to use
@bscraze i contacted service center.. they say battery's good and doesn't need replacement...
hey i discharged until phone switched itself off couple of times
and charged it back to 100% while phone was off and then again when ON..
then, i increased brightness,turned on wifi,bluetooh,gps,etc and it dropped to 90% ..
as it is stock rom i think it was between 90-100% (coz with 1% mod)
but as soon as a call came, which was of 2:38 seconds, my phone battery dropped off to 3%
any guesses, why this is happening?

what i have been able to detect from last two days is,
that battery fall is severe only when on voice call,
i have been playing music, games without much battery drain
but a mere voice call with everything off (GPS,bluetooh, dataconntection) for not more than 10 mins, drains battery by 20-30%
any ideas about it's reason??

Check out which app uses more battery in battery - settings - usage. That particular process may use more battery than others.
I have a similar problem with my G3 - I'm running CM 6.2
While I checked the OS takes 76% of the battery. I found CM6.2 better in handling FC than 7.1..Or should i just go back to Cm 7.1??
Experts, please advice
Hello everyone. its long since i posted here and thats bcoz of only one reason .. battery problem with my phone. i really was getting pissed off by the issue that i stopped posting here .. cursing my bad old phone.. my battery was lasting near abt 6-10 hrs lately .. finally i decided to..
1. flash eclair (stock) JG6 which came along at the time of my purchase and had reasonable to good batt back up. flashed that and i was like 18-24hrs of batt backup. Used it for almost one week. and as i was surfing thru our threads.. saw some really encouraging post abt Kyrillos 9.3 and its battery backup. so..
2. I flashed kyrillos 9.3 for last 3 days .. and did the calibration on my very first charging after flashing 9.3.. yesterday got almost 36 hrs of batt backup .. right now m on 84%.. unplugged @ 8pm yesterday .. it 10:15am right now in india. so its around 14 hrs .. which i feel is quite good considering my past exp with my battery ..
I dont know what actually has done the trick or its illusion to me . but after flashing eclair my phone performance has gone up smartly.
Using 9.3 NON-OC. with a2sd enabled.
i hope it can help ppl abt our all confusing battery issue .. if not .. at least it can throw some light ...
Press the thanks button if u find it helpful. Hve a gr8 day.
I have had this issue for a while and have been switching roms in search for a solution. My phone is draining battery no matter what rom I am using, but when I instert the charger, the battery instantly jumps up about 15-40% depending on how low it is. Does anybody know what causes this and how to fix it.
SM-G920i
Both Xtrestolite Deodex 6.0.1 and Xtralite Deodex 6.0.1
Pretty sure both roms use Arter 97 kernel.
Any help would be appreciated
Did you try to recalibrate it? Also, you should use Greenify to help you reduce battery drain while phone is not being used.

Here is a good guide which shows you how to do it. It's helped me, so hopefully it will help you as well!
Re-calibrate your battery, there are a few on the play store i used it each time i install a new rom (not needed for updates really). They do require root though. Also samsung introduce a feature which when your battery drain there willing be atleast 10% of battery remaining even though the phone shut down. This is an emergency feature and allows you to send or make a call with the last 10%

That's weird, try disabling everything you don't need like Bluetooth, NFC if you haven't already. Turn screen brightness lower, disable fast charging and "nearby device scanning", optimize the apps in settings/battery. Then do a restart and see if it makes any difference.
Hi mate,
I was in the same boat on Monday with a faulty device that overheating and kept freezing.
What I found was I had a weird bug, and 'Mediaserver' was constantly the biggest battery drain.
So saying that, when you go to your battery stats, what is your phone telling you is the main culprit?
Try this: charge your device to 100% restart it and then unplug the charger.

Hello,
The main battery consumer when looking at the battery stats is Android System.
Take a look at this
After a couple days of owning the S7, I checked battery usage of apps
OM Customise = 10%
KNOX = 10%
I've installed Package Disabler Pro, and disabled both the above, charging the phone now and will see if it makes any difference
If the above is true, that should give me 20% back by the end of the day
