Galaxy S6 Not displaying correct battery. - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have had this issue for a while and have been switching roms in search for a solution. My phone is draining battery no matter what rom I am using, but when I instert the charger, the battery instantly jumps up about 15-40% depending on how low it is. Does anybody know what causes this and how to fix it.
SM-G920i
Both Xtrestolite Deodex 6.0.1 and Xtralite Deodex 6.0.1
Pretty sure both roms use Arter 97 kernel.
Any help would be appreciated

Did you try to recalibrate it? Also, you should use Greenify to help you reduce battery drain while phone is not being used.

Here is a good guide which shows you how to do it. It's helped me, so hopefully it will help you as well!

Re-calibrate your battery, there are a few on the play store i used it each time i install a new rom (not needed for updates really). They do require root though. Also samsung introduce a feature which when your battery drain there willing be atleast 10% of battery remaining even though the phone shut down. This is an emergency feature and allows you to send or make a call with the last 10%

[Q] Omnia 7 Battery Calibration

Hi everyone!
Wondering if there is or are anyway to calibrate Omnia battery? I think it is draining too fast, first i left my phone charging for 5hours to completely charge and just send 1 message and download Samsung App "Now" and in 1 hour since has now 92% of it. I use brightness in minimun, use Edge connection and nothing more to spend so much...in moment im using "mirolg" mi7ROM mango 8107 DFT, great by the way!
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Or you can consider to try to change a battery.
Draining the battery fully will probbly calibrate it, though there may be a Calibrate feature in the Diagnostics app as well.
However, it's pretty normal for smartphones to only have battery life for about a day. 8%/hour, including downloading an app (which is moderately power-intensive) isn't way out of line with what I'd expect. Do you sync email? Do you have any live tiles? Do you use any background agents? Those all use power.
Also, custom ROMs - especially newly-released ones right after they become available - can have battery problems. Did you see the same result on the stock ROM? If not, your ROM may have a power issue.

I just donne it, used my phone until completely run out of battery, pulled out the battery and left for 2 days in this state....today i plugged the charger and phone in airplanemode for about 7 hours and showed me 97% of charge....plugged it out cause maybe could be a bug, power on and for my surprise it showed 83%...gave it up...i dunno but when i had Galaxy S there was a way to calibrate battery i´ve already asked here but nobody knows about Omnia 7....also, i remeber that custom rom causes this bugs, i couldnt get 100% but with stock it completely charge.

Battery problem

Hello, i'm a newbie to xda developers... I had some problems with my Sensation... I am really a newb to those stuff since i never rooted a phone... The problem with my phone is that the battery doesn't slowly drain... I let it to charge for like 5 hours to get to full 100% and then from 100% it goes to 60% in like 10-20 minutes while i use it ... Other times the battery shows to have more power and other times it straightly goes to 40% from 100%... It drains so quickly i can't even go outside with my phone since its battery gets empty... Sometimes, even if the phone is 60% it randomly shuts down and have to restart it for like 5 times to get it work for at least 10 minutes. Might it be the battery? I tried going to recovery mode but i get the red triangle with an exclamation sign in it... Any reply is appreciated, thanks!
Maybe your battery is rubbish and you should just buy another one.
Although is one thing you should try first, recalibrate your battery.
What all these methods amount to is how to teach your phone about battery performance. Calibration is about enabling your phone to provide accurate estimates of remaining battery charge and will not, in and of itself extend the usage you get on a single charge (though it may possibly prevent the phone going into power save modes prematurely, wrongly believing the battery to be lower on power than it is).
The phone stores information about the battery in a file called batterystats.bin which sits in /data/system. Normally you won't have direct access to that file, but you could find it with an app such as root explorer, which allows complete access to the phone's file system.
When you install a new ROM, or a new battery, or perhaps periodically as the battery ages and performs differently, you need to get a new set of battery performance statistics.
By charging the phone to 100% you are starting at the known maximum for the battery. At this point, the batterystats.bin file needs to be deleted, which forces the phone to recreate the file from scratch, using the information it is about to collect. It doesn't matter what method you use, battery calibration app, or from within recovery - they all do the same thing and delete this file.
The phone is then allowed to drain fully. This gives the other end of the scale, the known minimum. The phone then has then experienced the full charge/discharge cycle of the battery and stored that performance information in a new version of the batterystats.bin file.
Now that the information has been saved, the phone will (hopefully) be able to provide accurate estimates of the battery charge level, regardless of how much of the battery charge you use before reconnecting the charger.
If you don't have root access you can download an app from the market called "Battery Calibration". It does the same thing, deletes the batterystats.bin.
If I helped you in any way hit the THANKS button

Thank you for your time. You explained really well and i appreciate that... So, to use the calibration apps i need to have root access... should i search a tutorial on that or is there one on the forums? If the calibration can't fix it, should i get another battery? Thank you again! Maybe i should try to buy a new battery first... is rooting safe? can i get back to my old firmware?

Well, yes I guess you should root your phone first, but I'm not sure
A guide on how to root your Sensation can be found here .You should only do the steps 1-3.
If you don't want to root there is another method somebody wrote (I haven't tested it personally)
1. Turn off your phone.
2. Fully Charge.
3. When getting 100% signal, unplug quickly.
4. Pull off the battery and put it anywhere.
5. Wait for 180 seconds minimum
6. Put back the battery on the right side.
7. Turn on the phone.
Than you should be OK:good:
If you get the same result after "battery calibration" I suggest you buy another battery.
Hit THANKS if I helped you
Hello, i have two more question related to this thread... Is there a way to calibrate my battery without root access? And will buying a new battery surely fix my problem? Thanks again!
You might be able to get a calibration application in the playstore. However most I've seen require root access. But look, they're might be some without root requirement. As for your second question. Nothing is ever 100% guarantee that it will solve the issue. These are suggestions based on the information you provided regarding your issue . How can anyone be 100% certain that will solve your issue. It's defiantly a possibility it will solve the problem but no, for 100% certainty, I don't think anyone can say that. It's defiantly worth a try ! Then you can see if getting the battery solved the problem. I hope it does fix your issue and wish you the best .like I said, no one can be 100% sure but it's defiantly worth trying!Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Everything said in this topic is PURE NONSENSE. It was even featured on the front page that wiping the battery stats DOES NOT DO ANYTHING. See this article for more information > http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...-battery-stats-does-not-improve-battery-life/
The only thing you CAN do is charge your battery to 100%, and let it drain to 0%.
Aparently, after i cleaned my battery contacts it DOESNT jump to random values... drains continously.. SO i think the problem is fixed... atleast for a while! I'm new using a smartphone and the battery is a little 2 weak as i was used to my other non-smartphones... I think that's the battery life a 1520AMH can offer me on a sensation! The uptime for it was 6 hours from 100%... thats really weak ( i used the web and games).

[BIG] Battery drain

hi everybody, since one or two weeks i see i have a big battery drain when my phone is "inactive"... how to resolve this please?
Your screenshot doesn't tell us anything. Further debugging can be found using BetterBatteryStats / Gsam / Wakelock Detector, root is required.
A app is preventing your phone from deep sleeping.
The only thing your screenshot does show us is that Play Services is there, http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-google-play-services-battery-t2832525
View that to fix that but theres definitely more to it than Play Services.

I don't understand your question. In actuality, it takes a couple days for your phone to settle in the new kernel if thats what you're asking.
As long as your phone is properly deep sleeping, you shouldn't be worrying.
You can find out by using 1 of the 3 apps I mentioned previously.

i say, is it possible that the battery drain comes from new kernel?(AK)
also thanks for your help dude, and i modified googleplay services as you've told me with my fresh install of cm11...
I have 2 days of battery life almost and still have 20% left. I use this phone heavily and haven't recharged.
I had the same problem where 60% drain overnight.
Now 2 says.
All I did was turn off Facebook Location services.
That's it.
Facebook was draining so much. I have Wifi on, GPS with High Accuracy.
Facebook always drains a significant amount of battery, I prefer using the mobile website but if you must need the app then greenify it.

[Q] Battery Life Terrible from Google Play Services

Hey guys,
I have had really bad battery life lately to the point where I'm almost at 50% by lunch time. I took pictures of my battery stats, and have absolutely no idea why Google Play Services is so high. Any help investigating would be much appreciated! I've done some searching through XDA but everything assumes you have root or AOSP to get AppOps.

I am going to Coachella this weekend and reaalllyyy need to figure out this battery situation because I want to have my phone in awesome battery condition! Any ideas? I'm tempted to even factory reset it tonight and install limited apps just for this upcoming weekend.
Thanks!
Same here. Just today I noticed Google Play Services on the top of my battery stats, but usually the screen is the #1 battery drainer. This just started happening too. Hopefully it calms down.
Managed to get Wake Lock Detector working on my device, I'll monitor and see if anything comes to light
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1r3VlhZIZVSufZlAeICJet6QBtyAF7z06_ysl1kUKME4/edit#slide=id.p
I use CurrentWidget from F-Droid repo. It's pretty sweet. That screen shows a 169mA draw sitting idle with wifi and lte on. I am rooted and disabled everything possible without making basic google services non-responsive. They still run but stay out of my way completely for the most part.
I had that draining my battery for a while too, Think i cleaned cache or something and it went away. But i clean flashed a 5.0.2 FTF soon after so i could not monitor it for long.
Clean flash my phone took it back to the dream battery life when i got it from the store.

i highly highly highly recommend you install Amplify and activate the xposed module for this. My play services run at 2% its absolutely INSANE considering my HTC One was running around 40%. It also monitors wakelocks and displays the amount of wakelocks, highlighting any of concern in red.
You will need the paid version to limit non-standard services though - but well worth the money :victory:

Do you have a link to the T-Mobile variant to flash?
Yeah, not going to root. I don't think I should have to root and use xposed modules to fix this issue. I did do a factory reset after getting the update, I didn't see Google Play Services until few days after my update. I'll wait it out and see what happens. Worst case I'll try a fresh install and see what happens.

S6 Battery Life - Terrible

I've been using the TMO S6 for a couple weeks and my battery life is terrible.
I have used greenery to hibernate everything I can, but as you can see in the attached picture the Android system is running overtime. I am lucky if I get 4 hrs of battery time. I also have the screen brightness set to less than 50%.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have no idea why google thought it was a good idea to make battery stats less accessible in kitkat and above, so it's hard to find what causes it. It's probably easiest to factory reset and start clean and then start adding a few apps at a time, to see if you have one misbehaving one
Thanks. I am able to see the apps and utilization using gsam battery app, but unable to look at which android system apps are draining/running, as per the picture.

Factory reset then do these two. Also, disable T-Mobile bloat then use Greenify or Shut App.
I can get about a day and a half or two days battery with very minimal use. Don't expect to get more than 4 hours screen on time with this phone. Average is probably around 3.5-4.5 hours but you SHOULD get at least a full day's use with it.
Wifi calling pretty important for some of us
