i have bought second hand samsung s7 and when i turn it on it has S8 Logo instead S7 - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi, so i have bought s7 and everything seems to work great, only i haven't noticed till now that it shows s8 logo when i turn it on. its not much of a problem, i just want to know how to bring back original s7 boot logo? I dont have much knowledge about rooting and stuff so i dont know is the phone ever been rooted ,or does it need to be rooted to change that logo. I hope u guys (and girls ) understand my not so great english

Press the Power button + Home button + Volume down button, all at once, while your device is powered off.
There you'll have to look if it says Knox 0x1 or Knox 0x0.
0x0 - Knox not tripped
0x1 - Knox tripped
All those beyond this line messages prove root:
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 1
Installing a custom recovery will trigger Knox.
If you are not rooted, I recommend not rooting.
To reboot, press Power button for 5 seconds, or Power button + Volume down button for 5 seconds.

Just flash your country firmware via odin

First check which model S7 it says in Download Mode
(Volume Down & Home & Power)
Once you know which model it is, download the correct firmware from updato.com firmware section
Load all 4 parts into ODIN, connect phone to PC USB and hit start
ODIN 3.12.7
Code:
https://mega.nz/#!jUgRiTSa!fnAVwr7yFi4dlPk4V0oQ5DuoFe3iiG0jH-ws91IHOPc
If you choose CSC it will wipe the phone after flashing, probably the best idea as it is currently custom
HOME_CSC will not wipe
Only use CSC or HOME_CSC, not both

You have good advices here. Since you are rooted, you can easily flash what ROM you want. Then you can play with it and make your own customisations, like custom boot animations.
Enjoy.

stuck in odin mode

Hi,
When I tried turning on my Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 this morning, it didn't work, as if the battery was completely flat. That was unexpected as I though it was almost full. When I put the tablet on charge, it started in Odin mode writing "Downloading... Do not turn off target!!".
Now when I press the on/off button for something like five seconds, it reboots. If I press on/off + vol down + menu, then I enter a menu giving me two options: continuing or rebooting. In both cases the result is the same: going back to the Odin screen. Here is the exact output:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-P900
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 1
RP SWREV: A1
The tablet was rooted one year ago and I haven't play with ROMs and firmwares since then. I have absolutely no idea why it started in Odin mode.
I am currently downloading a firmware to try upload it to the tablet using Odin. Is it a smart move? Any advice?
Make sure your volume button is not stuck. Test it when the tablet is off to see if it response normally up and down.

It seems OK to me. Moreover, if I start pressing on/off + vol down + home to enter the Odin menu, I get two different behaviors pressing vol up or vol down: either reboot (and then Odin mode) or going to Odin mode. So I think these buttons work fine.
Are you able to get into recovery?
If it were me I'd try to run through the root process first, reflashing the modified recovery. If that doesn't fix it then yeah most certainly a full wipe would work since you're still able to get into download mode anyway.

You mean pressing on/off + vol up + home? No, it doesn't work.

So basically, I try to root again my tablet as I did the first time? (Sorry for these questions, I'm not very fluent with all these things.)
I can't flash anything using Odin. It gets stuck at the "Initialzation.." step. I tried different versions of Odin and different USB ports (but not cables, I only have one). It might be related to the fact that I'm using Virtualbox. I will try to find a native Windows.
In the mean time, any idea?

Can't exit Download Mode AT ALL

Hi all,
the last flashing process was a while back. I must have been a little rusty... Anyway, I today tried to install the 6.0.1 compatible TWRP Recovery on my Galaxy S6 920F and made several mistakes in the process using Odin 3.10.7 on my Windows PC (flashed a wrong file in AP, it was an .img and not a tar.md5). Now I'm still in the Download Mode and can't exit it at all. I tried the Home Button + Vol Up + Vol Down like 1000 times, but it still won't work. It really seems to be stuck. Odin finds the device, but when I try to re-flash the recovery the right way (at least I hope it is), it tries to establish a connection before flashing and after that it's stuck, too.
On my device the last lines are: B:2 K:2 S:2
What can I do? Is there a way to bring this device back to life? Thanks in advance for any help! :highfive:
For some reason after more than an hour it finally worked. But I pressed POWER + Vol Up + Vol Down? Is that right? Doesn't matter, it worked.
It's all the buttons combo to exit download mode. You forgot home button.

It turned out to be pretty simple; just in case someone is in my shoes in the future, here's what I did:
Flash a stock rom using Odin 10.7.
(IMPORTANT) Do not let it boot up til it says drk fail, hold down the vol down, power, and home button to get back into the Download mode.
Flash PhilZ recovery using Odin 10.7. arter97 . com /browse/exynos7420/recovery/twrp/g925fi/
Once it's done, hold vol up, power, and home button to get back into the Recovery mode immediately.
I'd personally do a wipe to make sure nothing goes wrong, then backup the EFS and other partitions while I'm at it.
Then choose Reboot to go back into the Download mode.
Now flash CF-Auto-Roots using the attached Odin. forum.xda-developers . com /galaxy-s6/orig-development/cf-auto-root-t3056630
Let it do the installation on the phone. It will reboot a few times I think, and hopefully when it says Pass, the LED indicator starts glowing. Then it should be all good.

Dead Samsung S6?

Hi guys,
I just bought a S6 Edge (SM-G925i) via eBay. I now know why it was that cheap, it does not do a lot
What does work is getting into DOWNLOAD MODE.
In the download mode I get the following information:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-G925I
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
REACTIVATION LOCK: OFF
Secure Download: Enabled
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 1 (0x0500)
AP SWAEV: 8 : 3 K : 2 S : 2
I downloaded the official G925IDVU3FQD1_G925IXSA3FQC3_G925IDVU3FQC5_HOME.tar.md5 from Sammobile and installed it with ODIN (selected AP and process run to 100%).
But after this my phone keeps rebooting with the "Samsung Galaxy S6 Powered By Android" logo.
I cannot get into RECOVERY MODE (VOLUME UP + HOME).
I tried to install TWRP. It seems to install but after that I am again stuck in the "Samsung Galaxy S6 Powered By Android" logo.
Is it dead or are there things I can try?

Hi !
You should also try to restore the phone with Samsung official tool : Smart Switch
http://www.samsung.com/fr/support/smartswitch/
It's available for Mac OS and Windows

You cannot use Smart Switch when you only have DOWNLOAD MODE available.
Hi there,
This also happened to me today, I was just normally using the phone (internet and stuff) and suddenly went to reboot and got stuck to logo.
I tried flashing the stock rom, but no luck. Reboots and back to samsung logo. (or download mode, not even recovery is working).

Eish okay
I just gave up and took it to some service store to see what happened.
I'll ask him what happened and how he worked it out and let you know.
thanks alot waiting for your advice
same here
You said you tried to go to recovery by pressing vol up and home, you forgot the power button.
It's : power + up+ home. Try again.
And if not working, and only download mode available, use Odin and flash the software for your phone. Download the files from samobile (btw it will slow download , really slow)
We all tried flashing stock roms, as we said before. This is not the problem.
The problem is the DRK (device root key). It's all messed up.
This is beyond my phone skillz.
If you want you can try this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/how-to-repair-device-root-key-drk-sm-t3297383
I just took it to a phone repair store and he told me that the DRK is messed up and some other things.

Boot into system recovery, you can't rely on the various apps to show you as most of them just lie and say it's not tripped..
System recovery
1. Turn phone off
2. Hold volume up+home+power
Knox should read 0x0
Then just choose reboot.
Not sure there's any way you can do it in advance to buying the device
Since recovery can also be modified, I'd say download mode is the safest way to confirm. Same key combo but using vol down.
