APK file "App not installed" error message! - General Questions and Answers

I am having an issue installing a 'To do list' app from an APK file that was a preinstalled app on the Droid Bionic, backed up using an APK creation software, and tried installing on a Galaxy Tab 3. Every time I try, I get the following error message after I accept the permissions and says it is installing, the error message says "App not installed"
Allow installations from unknown sources is already enabled and the Galaxy Tab 3 is rooted but I still get this error message! Everything the internet says to do does not work, same "App not installed" error message.
I need this because I would like to continue making lists of things I need to get done and the Droid Bionic is on its last leg, the buttons do not work and the touch screen is messed up and I used the app on the Droid Bionic very often.

Try install through play store

[Q] please help me. parsing the package error ....

Hi everyone,
I got this message, and it's really annoying,
I'm new in rooting, it happens while using "Link2SD" application, I tried to convert a "system application" "Google Search" to a "user application"
and error happens, then the Google search widget disappear,
Then I found this application in one website " Google_Search_2.2.10.546669_For_Android.apk"
and whenever i tried to install it,
the process stopped in the message"There is a problem parsing the package".......
Anyone know how to pass this?
Thank you!

Try using a root explorer to place the apk into the system-apps folder then set permissions for rw-r-r and reboot.

Dear cjsspape,
Thank you very much for your responding,
I got the program " root explorer"
1. I set permissions in app folder to RlW
2. paste the application there.
and I got the same message...
error parsing message...
the problem is I think when I tried to move it firstly using "Link2SD"
it crashed the program when trying moving it to the SD Card and the system still behaving like the program is still there, when it actually nothing remains from the google search widget.
If you know other hints or tricks I can do to pass this message to complete the installation,
Or Can I get the original program apk from another Xperia Arc S phone to get it again working fine?
Thank you very much,
Best regards.

As this bug was fixed in 4.3 a wipe should work for you as mentioned in the "workaround" link.
You might want to factory reset and if it doesn't work you could try the workaround of parsing error method in the android development where you have to use es file explorers built in apk installer which solved the problem for the parsing error and possibly for this as well.

Yep, but it requires root, doesn't it?

[Q] Problem with APKs

Hello!!
I'm a new Moto G owner and I always had install Walkman by Sony. The first day I own my phone I install it. Today I try to update this app with a new APK but the phone says "App not installed", I delete de old app(and all dates and cache) and try again install the new apk but I get the some message. Because of this I decided reinstall the old APK but my sorprise when I'm installing the old APK (the same I installed few days ago) the phone says again "App not installed" and I can't install it.
Have anyone any solution for this??
My Moto G is not rooted.
Try to install it with adb (adb install Walkman.apk). It usually gives you a reason why he can't install the package. Alternatively you can do an 'adb logcat' while installing and look the log for the problem. I hope this helps.

Can't install particular app

I have tried different versions of CM (including) nightlies on my phone lately, but since about a week I haven't been able to (re-)install the Teamviewer app anymore, after uninstalling it on accident. Other apps are fine, but just this particular app will not install, I'm getting a "Insufficient Storage" error. Strange, because (1) I have plenty storage left and (2) Other apps install fine.
I have tried to install through the Play Store as well as installing it manually through opening the APK file from within ES File Explorer - same error.
Could anyone help me with this? I think there must be some lingering file of Teamviewer somehow...
Try installing an older version via ES... :3

So I tried installing 3 different older versions of Teamviewer, they all give me the same error message. Other apps install fine. This is really weird. Any more ideas?
