Hi everybody,
after upgrading to 4.4.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=25852429), its nit possible to install apks from sdcard or google drive.
its not the parsing error.. and yes, i activate "allow install from unknowen location".

thanks!

Did you try factory reset?

As this bug was fixed in 4.3 a wipe should work for you as mentioned in the "workaround" link.

You might want to factory reset and if it doesn't work you could try the workaround of parsing error method in the android development where you have to use es file explorers built in apk installer which solved the problem for the parsing error and possibly for this as well.

Yep, but it requires root, doesn't it?

Lots of APK's not installing "App not installed"

When I try to install some of my older apk's from sd card I get "app not installed". I have unknown sources enabled. I am wondering are these apps most likely not compatible with 4.4? I am running ART, but when I switch back to Dalvik they still wont install. Has anyone else been running into this?
Hey ... I am also facing exact issue ..... Have you found any solution
No I haven't.

Can you be more specific about which apps and versions?
What version of Android were you using them on before KitKat?
I found a solutions, first of all use a root browser to locate and delete your data folder for the app you are trying to install, data/data/com.appname
once I did that I was able to manually install the apk's via adb
Im not sure but this may have had something to do with trying to install the apks with ART at first. Both the apps I was trying to install are not compatible with ART. I switched back to dalvik and did those steps and I was able to get them working.

Unable to install any app manually

Dont worry doing factory reset, just back up your data and apps using titanium backup and simply restore them after doing factory reset.

When the apps from the playstore install without problem, i'd say your installer is fine. I've encountered this problem as well, but only if I was using the wrong file/wrong file extension..
thanx a lot man!!
i backed up all my data and then did a factory reset with a rom and gaaps reflash...
all is working cool now!!

Hi there, m sure that yu tried to remove bloatware from your device or yu may have rooted ur phone. i would suggest to download and install adb driver and debloater applications in your pc first. after that open debloater app with phone connected to ur pc and begin to read files. there in the list of files you can see googleinstaller.apk which will have a tickmark. that means yu have removed that file in ur phone and so yu are facing this problem. untick and click apply and yu are good to go

My problem is specific with ES Explorer File PRO app in Android 10 too, and I solved this issue installing the "APK Installer by Uptodown" app from Google Play. It's free and no ads.
Maybe if we choose "certified installer" and marked as app "default" to open apk files and later we change manually to "package installer" in the file where that this choice was record, the ES Explorer File could use the package installer native of android to install apk files.

[Q] [Solved] New Google Camera can't update

I saw that there's a new camera update available, and I tried to install it from the play store, but it gives me an error saying there's something wrong with the signature and refuses to install. I found an apk elsewhere and tried to install from that, but again, it would be give the an error message saying "an existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed".
I went to settings->apps->camera and cleared data, force stop, disable, etc, but nothing worked. I was using Jishnu's camera mod, but about a month ago, my camera app stopped working. I did flash it back to stock 4.4.2 found in Jishnu's thread, but still no luck. I even tried to uninstall camera using Titanium, but it couldn't find the apk.
Any ideas?
EDIT
Solved!

Thanks!
Delete the old camera app using a file explorer. It'll be in /system/app/, /data/app/ or maybe even /system/priv-app/
Google Nexus 5

I'm using ES File Explorer with root enabled, but it won't let me delete the GoogleCamera.apk. It says "Read-only file system". Permissions for the file is rw- r-- r--, and won't allow me to change anything about the file at all.
EDIT
Figured out how to delete the apk, but it still wont let me install the new camera...

I downloaded the camera apk from that thread, but still no luck. With the originall GoogleCamera.apk deleted, now I just get a non-specific error saying "Application was not installed"
How I fixed it:
Delete GoogleCamera.apk in /system/apps
Flash the 4.4.2 camera restore found in Jishnu's thread
Camera should work now
Update camera
???
Profit!
Link please
I'm having this exact same problem. I'm running Omnirom, so I thought it was related to that.
Could you please link to the thread you are referring to?

Please share! Also using ES File Explorer with root.

In ES, expand tools, turn on root explorer, and click on root explorer. Change r/w settings so you can delete files

Yeah, really weird!
I couldn't get it to work with any combination of methods. Update from store, update with apk, uninstall and reinstall from store or with apk, nothing!
And today, as i was going to demonstrate to a friend how the update fails, all of a sudden the installation went through! I had downloaded the apk from AndroidPolice and merely went to install it (which had failed about ten times before!) and it worked!
I have no idea what changed, but I'm happy now. Loving the new UI. Simpler, and the new features rock. Just waiting for all the old ones to be brought back.
Battery drain sucks, tho...
how did you fixed it plz tell me

Can't install particular app

I have tried different versions of CM (including) nightlies on my phone lately, but since about a week I haven't been able to (re-)install the Teamviewer app anymore, after uninstalling it on accident. Other apps are fine, but just this particular app will not install, I'm getting a "Insufficient Storage" error. Strange, because (1) I have plenty storage left and (2) Other apps install fine.
I have tried to install through the Play Store as well as installing it manually through opening the APK file from within ES File Explorer - same error.
Could anyone help me with this? I think there must be some lingering file of Teamviewer somehow...
Try installing an older version via ES... :3

So I tried installing 3 different older versions of Teamviewer, they all give me the same error message. Other apps install fine. This is really weird. Any more ideas?

[Q] "App not installed" after factory reset.

Hello.
Yesterday i did a factory reset on my phone. After which i am unable to install a "few apps".I have tried installing app from the .apk file i had as backup and also from Play store but no success.
When trying to install from .apk file the app begins to install but after like 3 or 4 seconds it says.
"App not installed"
nothing else.
i tried to install the same app from Play store, again no success. App downloads 100% but when installing it says something like "unknown error: error code"-24" " and then nothing.
This happens for a few Apps only. They are all server softwares that contain Apach,PHP,MySQL.The first of these i installed was KSweb server. Then last time i did a factory reset i faced this problem for KSweb server. I tried quite a lot of things but no success.
So i downloaded another app (DroidPHP) with same functionality it was downloded and installed fine and also worked great. But yesterday i did a factory reset again after 4 months maybe. And now i am unable to install DroidPHP aswell. Also KSweb is not installing and showing same error.
i have an unrooted phone running Jelly Beans 4.2
Try to push app to system/app then reboot,
Or Wipe data,Cache & flash a Rom fully!
