Tutorial On Rooting LG L3 E400R(Canadian Model)

It appears as though LG made some changes to the hardware, and software of the L3 when brining it to Canada. None of the usual root tricks work for it, and it will not work with roms made for the American version. I went through every thread and many, many pages before I found out how to get root. It can be done with SuperOneClick, but you must use the Rageagainstthecage method. After that its all root and wonderful. Now hopefully this ends the search for Canadian L3 users. Im just waiting to get a response on my other thread about if anyone can make a CM9 or CM10 Rom for this model. Hopefully someone is nice enough to make one.

this information really helped, bud. although, we should mention that SuperOneClick 1.7 will root the e400r LG L3 from fido/rogers...
the app keeps telling me its a temp root, and i cannot update binaries, but that might not be a problem for most people...

Can you describe a little more how exactly you proceed to root E400R? You have added three links and I don't exactly how to use them.
Thanks

Can you install CyanogenMod on the LGv10 from at&t?

I've had this phone rooted for a while now, and I've decided I'd like to install a custom rom if possible. CyanogenMod is the name I see tossed around the most often, so that is what I figured I'd look into. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry but the bootloader has not been unlockable yet by any devs for the AT&T version of the V10. If you have the European version or the T-Mobile version you can unlock the bootloader, however. There is a tiny glimmer of hope yet to come if you don't have the Euro or TM versions.
A 9-year-old bug called the "Dirty Cow" exploit still exists in the Linux/Android kernel can easily grant root on any Android phone!!! See the video below.
http://www.xda-developers.com/9-year...on-of-android/
So there's another bug to exploit for root and even possibly unlocking the bootloader! The bug has been fixed recently in Linux but hasn't been rolled into Android yet. If anyone can get this working on my AT&T LG V10 (running Marshmallow) I'll give a reward of $50! Plus you'll be my hero! Now get crackin!
Not sure about Cyanogenmod but I found this weblink that refers to it bing possible to install roms.
https://androidcommunity.com/its-raining-root-lg-v10-on-att-verizon-now-rooted-20160317/
It Links to some posts here on XDA so thought it best to just post 1 link so you can look through them as you wish.

Is Development Dead?

This is more just a general question of your opinion. I can't believe it's been almost a year and no bootloader unlock. I would have loved to see CM running on this device. It almost makes me want to go back to HTC because they openly allow the bootloader to be unlocked. IMO I think we have reached as best as we can with the echo ROM. I uninstalled it due to it not having much benefits. What are your thoughts on this device? Do you think we will ever see a bootloader unlock or is devolopment dead on this device?
I believe that development might pick up again with nougat's official January (i believe) release because it offers much more than Marshmallow. Maybe we'll get an official bootloader unlock or some dev on his spare time finds a way to do it. CM either way is only being made personally through devs now (closed its doors yesterday) but there will be a forthcoming with LineageOS from the same team.
Yeah I read about cm and lineage. So if I'm understanding. An OS update could provide a new vulnerability and allow an unlocked bootloader?
Keyword there is could. Hopefully some progress down the line would be nice and if we got to start a prize pot for it, I wouldn't mind.
I would definitely kick in some money to a bootloader unlock bounty. Right now my only 2 complaints with the s7 are lack of custom roms and not being able to find a good full coverage glass screen protector. If I can help one of those I will. I am half tempted to sell my tmo s7 and buy an exynos s7 because there seems to be more development there. But I'll wait for nougat.
jah feel
I feel your pain. When I first planned on getting the S7, I was excited about getting a sexy-design phone with better specs and putting all my music on the phone via a 128GB SD card and chilling out with ViPER4Android... but that was all a dream. I've been very hesitant to go through with the current root method because from what I've read, there are tons of bugs to deal with and tons of tweaks to do to not get very far in the end. I'm honestly very sad about this purchase. If I had more time to research the locked bootloader issue, I would have gone with a different phone. But my S5 finally gave up and I had to get a new phone ASAP. I would also pitch in for a bootloader unlock or something. I mainly want a stable phone with ViPER4Android. Can't live without it... it's been hell. Halp pl0x.
I would definetely pay for an unlocked bootloader also. The exynos definitely seems to have more devolpment than the u.s. But I'm rooted and after flashing a fix+debloat and installing Xposed everything is running smooth. It would be awesome to see more devolepment though.

Can you link me to the posts about the fix+debloat you flashed please? I have tried rooting and couldn't figure out how to fix the super slowness and the overheating. Also, what Firmware are you running?

I need good thread that tells me how to bring a G930A up to date with TMobile Nougat

Hi
I just purchased a brand new G930A, at a very good price I might add, and got it running on T Mobile. The firmware is old (6.0.1) and has had no security updates in a while. No updates seem to be available from ATT. I would like to root it and update everything to T Mobile (7.x.x) standard. I am not really looking for a custom rom unless there is a real benefit. Can someone direct me to a good, tried and true, step by step method for getting this done? All the way from unlocking, and rooting to flashing a rom. Just Foolproof is good enough, it doesn't need to be Damn Foolproof. Last phone I rooted (Droid Maxx) was about 5 years ago so I need some re-education. A link to a good thread would really help.
Thanks
John

Samsung Galaxy S10e [EXYNOS AND NOT ALL SD]Root made by possible with magisk

Courtesy and special thanks to John Wu developer of magisk!
Here is the info. It is highly recommended to read carefully and follow the instructions to the T. This is not for the faint of heart or newbies just trying to root their phone for the first time. You will lose some things (Knox and pay) and gain some great things by rooting this device.

From what I understand people are even rooting their snap dragon versions of the phones as well. I would let the more experienced flashers help guide you through.
Thanks again to John Wu for bringing this to the table.
Possible with the snapdragon variant? I am new to this so Idk if snapdragon models ever gets the same treatment as the exonys versions

Like I mentioned before ..I believe I saw some people trying it on Twitter.. that's where I got most of my info from and then just kept watching.

Only Exynos version
It may one day be possible to do Snapdragon variant but unsure.

I'm gonna risk it and try in on snapdragon variant
Do Not try on the snapdragon variant. It will fail at vbmeta.img
Samsung is making it harder and harder to root devices. For Magisk to work, we technically have to boot to recovery every single time.
@ironmaskusa, you really should change the title and include "[EXYNOS and not all SD]" because this thread does not appy to North American Snapdragon devices, as topjohnwu himself stated. There are reports of Chinese/HK SD devices that have successfully gone through the procedure (and yet other Chinese/HK have failed), but for those of us with SM-G97OU/U1 and locked bootloaders, the Magisk procedure will not work.

I can confirm it wont work, ganuteed to fail at vbmeta.img every time, plus Samsung implemented hash checks on partitions
I misspelled that word oof
Any news on the snapdragon variant? I'm getting the HK version, G9700 dualsim/snapdragon, and would be interested in getting working magisk.
I come from oneplus devices, friendly with twrp and stuff. Last sammy was tye S2...
Also, is there anyway to avoid knox triggering?
The pros of rooting dicreased a lot for me anyway, want to use substratum and a few silly magisk modules (especially for viper)
Let me know who's up to mod our G9700 and have some fun with it.

I own a G9700 and have successfully rooted it. Knox WILL get tripped, and as of right now, I am having issues with the device rebooting randomly and issues with WiFi not connecting automatically. Also, disabling mobile data seems to keep the "4G" icon visible afterwards. Only problems i've encountered thus far

Thanks for your reply.
Can someone give a detailed explanation or a link to information on why this won't work for us snapdragons. This is the first phone I've owned that I've not been able to root. Im not necessarily a noob to rooting phone(as in following a guide) but I'm very intrigued by the inner working of the process.
Does anyone have a link to any information that goes into detail on how one goes about finding an exploit to root a phone. I have a little bit of programming experience but I'm sure I'm no where in the realm of being able to come up with my own exploits. Im kind of seeking knowledge on what it would take in order to start learning how to circumvent the security on devices so one day I may be able to give back to the community by providing my own exploits.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. I love these forums and want to help the community but I don't know how to go about finding the information I need in order to start learning the essentials in going about finding exploits and providing root methods. Thank you everyone for your awesomeness.
If any mods feel this is in the wrong section please feel free to move it or let me know and I will create a new post.

Rooting won't work on US Qualcomm/Snapdragon S9/S10 devices because Samsung has tightened their security a lot since the S8. In fact even the S8 is difficult to root, it only works if you have an old bootloader. Your best option is to go with the international/global "F" devices which has full custom recovery, Magisk, hide root, etc. While they say that the intentional devices won't work with Verizon (CDMA/LTE), I can confirm they work just fine since Verizon uses VoLTE for voice now.
As far as root being possible on US devices, it's hard to tell, if they find a loophole it could come tomorrow, but it could also come in 10 years from now, so it's probably not worth waiting when you have the international Exynos models available for rooting today.
