Can you install CyanogenMod on the LGv10 from at&t? - AT&T LG V10

I've had this phone rooted for a while now, and I've decided I'd like to install a custom rom if possible. CyanogenMod is the name I see tossed around the most often, so that is what I figured I'd look into. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry but the bootloader has not been unlockable yet by any devs for the AT&T version of the V10. If you have the European version or the T-Mobile version you can unlock the bootloader, however. There is a tiny glimmer of hope yet to come if you don't have the Euro or TM versions.
A 9-year-old bug called the "Dirty Cow" exploit still exists in the Linux/Android kernel can easily grant root on any Android phone!!! See the video below.
http://www.xda-developers.com/9-year...on-of-android/
So there's another bug to exploit for root and even possibly unlocking the bootloader! The bug has been fixed recently in Linux but hasn't been rolled into Android yet. If anyone can get this working on my AT&T LG V10 (running Marshmallow) I'll give a reward of $50! Plus you'll be my hero! Now get crackin!

Not sure about Cyanogenmod but I found this weblink that refers to it bing possible to install roms.

It Links to some posts here on XDA so thought it best to just post 1 link so you can look through them as you wish.

[Q] Android 2.2.2 Unrootable or NOT YET rootable?

I have found by browsing many people saying that the new Android software 2.2 (I have a new Android phone and have version 2.2.2) is unrootable. I am wondering if this means that this software will never be rootable or if this means that the rooting software is just not available yet. Can I look forward to rooting this phone in the future without buying the S-OFF hardware?
Hell nor heaven has any help for you, use the search tool please, froyo or 2.2 has been rootable for a long time and is by no means the latest. The latest ones are Gingerbread for android phones 2.3 or Honeycomb for Tablets. 3.0. Rooting is also device sepecific not release specific.

no root option on aria
Of course I searched for root options, but it seems that there are few root options for some models, including the HTC Aria that I have. The latest posts on the Aria forum suggest that the new 2.2. update is still not rootable. But perhaps I am not using the optimal keywords for my search? If you have any constructive suggestions for how to search the forums, I would appreciate it.

That only applies to the HTC Aria. Since of the android 2.2.2 update for it, there was an update of the bootloader in that update. The bootloader is locked causing it to be not yet rootable until now. You may expect to see it rootable in the future, but not yet.
P.S. - When you see anything like that said, it is only being said for the device that forum is about (Not in General terms). ALL versions of android are rootable so far... but just not necessarily on all devices e.g. HTC Aria... so far.
A locked bootloader and being able to root the phone are two different things. A locked bootloader limits what sort of system you can start. Root is about privileges in the actual system once it has started. The "root" account is equivalent to the Windows "Administrator" account - you can do whatever, whereas normal accounts can't.
As an example, the Motorola Defy has a locked bootloader, so you can start only Motorola-provided kernels. But rooting the Defy is not a problem. As to what rooting actually brings you, well, certain apps require root privileges and will not work without them.

[Q] Questions about root methods (towelroot) and not "tripping" Knox

Just read some posts in the towelroot forum, and I had some questions - but first, a little about me:
I'm coming from an HTC Evo 4g LTE (Sprint) and I just switched to Ting (uses all Sprint towers & devices, just an a-la-carte payment plan as opposed to monthly)
Anywho, all this Knox business (and acquiring root for the S5) is new to me (but I am no newbie when it comes to root, just my first time owning a Samsung device.) I havent even had this phone for 24 hours yet.
Just wanted to know what build/kernel/Android version you were on when you attempted towelroot?
I am on Android 4.4.2 - Build: KOT49H.G900PVPU1AND2
I did not install the System OR Software Update that is in my notification list after activation. (Pretty much same rules were for the HTC Evo 4G LTE, it would update the bootloader to a version that was considered "unmoddable" at the time) and for that phone it was also called "S-OFF" (S stood for Security) - Im guessing Knox is somewhat similar...?
Also, what is the preferred root method for the G900P? I only know of towelroot and CF-Auto-Root (sp?) - I know Chainfire makes apps specifically for Samsung devices, but read an old post on another site that CF's method will "trip" Knox... is that still accurate?
Just wanted to be 100% confident in what I'm doing, before I attempt anything. (Again, I have a lot of experience in HTC devices; not so much with Samsung) :/
Any help regarding my device and acquiring root without "tripping" Knox is greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance! - zmag

To add to this I just purchased a S5 coming after an S1 and S3.
I am wondering if I have to worry about any updates on sprint locking me out. My S3 is on Verizon and luckily I rooted it before they came out with the update that locked it out. Can I go to the newest version that my phone wants to update me to without any fears of being locked out in the future?

Currently for the Sprint 900P (not the 860 Sport) NE5 is the latest build and I have not heard of anything being patched to not allow root.
However, it is best practice to always wait on taking any new Sprint updates until the devs have time to look into it and make sure root is still possible. There is no way for anyone to know what Sprint/Samsung/Google will patch in future updates. It usually only takes the dev community about a day or so to confirm whether existing root methods will still work.

just want to know

Hi i am new to the droid community got this fone as a gift from a bufdy of mines, got tonrun it on metro pcs network was really to setup. Anyways i update to ota with out doin no reaseach seems like i am stuck with 4.4.4 my question is there a way to root xt10180 non dev or temp root??? Can someone guide me the rite direction thank u
P.s if this is not the rite place pls move post t.y
Considering there is other sections more appropriate than the "Dev" sections for a question or concern, this would certainly not be the right place to ask.
But to answer your question, no. If your BL(bootloader) is locked, you have OEM/Stock recovery, and are on 4.4.4 you are screwed. It appears the Ultra is no longer being supported by anyone capable of finding a method to root. However, you can PAY for a BL unlock code, but it apparently has not been successful for everyone so I personally havent tried and would not pay the premium and possibly get nothing in return. At 4.4.4, you are unable to downgrade to older versions capable of root. Unless someone releases a method of bypassing the stock restrictions - you may have to wait until the next update. Only problem with that is the day after you update, if you choose to, someone may release a tool or method to bypass those security measures. However, if you dont update immediately you may possibly miss the window of opportunity to use a crack-able version of an OTA and wind up being stuck with too new of a version (I am not 100% sure on this last statement, as its been awhile since I was fully involved in the dev world). Hope this answered your question.
Yeah know I am stuck on this version. N I also won't pay for no bl that's not going to work. If someone do come out with a crack version I am willing to donate. I miss been root man. I hope someone do come out with a way to bypass this restrictions. I know they are a lot of smart ppl out there, that can help us noobs lol.

LG H900 ROMs

Hey, I heard somewhere that if you build a ROM off the stock kernel it would work even if you had a locked bootloader, I am going to try to learn how to make ROMs because it sounds intresting. Just a question.
can't we use flashfire to install ROMs?
Now that we have root I'm sure all these options are being looked at by the devs. Its a waiting game less you have the drive to learn how to become a dev yourself. Me personally I don't have what it takes so I'm just checking the forums daily.
Any luck on cm roms

Got a V10 from AT&T today
Hey guys,
We got a V10 from AT&T today in exchange for a G3 that crapped out. I hadn't heard of this phone until I took it out of the box (was expecting a G5). I saw there wasn't a CM release for the H900 and this thread is the most active one I found. I'm a software engineer and have rooted/rom'd several android phones, most recently the G3.
Short story long, I'd like to get CM working/supported on this thing. I saw a guide on stechguide.com for rooting and getting TWRP loaded via lgup/tot method that I'm going to try out. I was also wondering if any of you guys have done this, and if there are any rumors or news for cm support.

If you are on Lollipop you can root using the Tungkick method, but there is no TWRP available for the H900. The bootloader is locked and there is no unlock available for it yet. I wouldn't trust that guide.
If you are on MarshMallow there is no root available yet. Keep an eye out on this forum though, chances are it will break here first.

There is interest in this. We simply don't have enough devs. We used to, until someone pissed off JCase and he refused to work on the V10.

The key to unlocking their bootloader would be nice
Right, of course. But can I ask for something else that allows the unlock? In other words, can I reword it?
EDIT- I emailed him asking flat out for a way or a contact of his that might be willing to help unlock the bootloader. Let's keep holding our breaths.

LG-H635 G4(Stylus) Questions.

Howzit guys.
Firstly if this is not the correct place to post my questions please inform me or MOD can move it.
I am trying to get some information about this device:
LG G4 Stylus
Brand: lge
Model LG-H635
OS: Android 6.0 (32Bit)
what i require is some links or help or guides on:
How to root this device
How to install custom recovery
Where to get older stock/official versions of the ROM ie. KitKat or LiloPop or Marshmallow.
Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated as my knowledge on the LG phones are very limited.
EDIT: Uploaded some pictures.
Hey, I have the same phone (H635), but unfortunately, the bootloader is not unlockable, so no one has created a custom recovery for this phone. I did have a temporary root with KingRoot, but there was a system update released on Tuesday that broke even the temporary root, so as of now, there isn't anything that can be done to the phone to mod or customize it.
If you have the opportunity to buy an American T Mobile model, that version has an unlockable bootloader, as well as custom recovery and roms available for it.
The only firmware I found on the internet for the H635 model is here, a version of Marshmallow: http://lg-firmware-rom.com/download/lg-g-stylo-h635-stock-kdz-firmware-h63520a/
Hope this helps answer your questions...
Cheers
