Hello,
my phone is a locked not rooted Asus Padfone 2 (A68) European version which I had updated to KitKat 4.4 using official Asus package (WWE 11.8.3.3).
After a faulty encryption I cannot load android and in recovery mode the /cache directory is not readable.
I'm an IT engineer but with a very low knowledge of Android and phones, so I'd just like to know how to factory reset (i.e. fresh/clean install) the phone...
Could you please help me? Thanks!
P.S. I've tried wiping storage and cache through recovery menu, but it says that /cache is not mountable. Any reboot goes in a loop waiting forever...

I installed CWM on my Mele A1000 and I was able to reboot into recovery mode using adb.
At which point I got the CWM menu where I was able to install files from SD, wipe cache etc...
After installing all the files (Cyanogen) I rebooted, now when the device starts all I see is the
Cyanogen splash screen for a few minutes and then a message indicating:
Encryption Unsuccessful. Encryption was interrupted and can't complete. As a result the data on your tablet is no longer accessible.
To resume using your tablet, you must perform a factory reset. When you set up your tablet after the reset ....
This message looks like it's part of the standard Android system.
Since CWM is installed I should be able to access it in order to install something else,
but I cannot figure out how to reboot in recovery/cwm mode. There is no hardware button other than the power button on the Mele A100
I found an image for a 'rescue system' here: forum.doozan.com/read.php?6,9396,9396#msg-9396
Which boots a version of Linux and allows me to mount the internal storage of the Mele,
but I still have no idea how to force it to boot in to CWM Recovery.
If I could boot in CWM recovery I could restart the entire process and try again.
Cannot wipe "/Data" & "/Dalvik" and TWRP is asking for Password [Solved]
Hey Guys!
So a few days ago i decided to install and try out the ubuntu touch. My Android OS was the newest CM-11 Nightly edition of the TF700t , but because it was not compatible with dual boot I wiped it out. Then I done everything as it was ordered and finally i had may Touch and my "TF700T_CROMBi-kk_RC2 KitKat-4.4.4rc2-CM11-D". Everything was perfect and there was no problem , then I wiped out the whole thing , because I dosen't liked the touch (from the beginning it was just about trying it out) and reinstalled the "TF700T_CROMBi-kk_RC2 KitKat-4.4.4rc2-CM11-D". For like a day there was no problem at all , then i turned off the tablet (before this shutdown there was like 3-4 restart) and when I turned it back 9 hours later the OS just restated it self when I tried to enter. The TWRP is asked for a password (I didn't setup any kind of security for my TWRP) so it was kinda odd. When I tried to restore my backup it's was a fail , also when I tried to wipe out the system "failed" , because the recovery system was unable to wipe the "/dalvik" and "/data" and neither can mount the "/data". I tried to update the TWRP via fastboot but my PC stays at "waiting for device". I appreciate any kind of suggestion and help , pls guys help I'm out of ideas .
TWRP version: 2.6.3.2
TWRP asks for a password if it can't read the file system on /data and so it assumes it's encrypted.
Sounds as if you corrupted your data partition somewhere in this. Try to format data (not wipe) in TWRP. This would erase all your data on the tablet, but you got that backed up anyway, right?
I swear to god that I tried this too , but it's worked. Thanks for the help.
Dear experts,
I was on moto G 1033, unlocked, Philz touch recovery, Nexus 5 experience ROM. From that I tried to encrypt the phone, I left it connected to charger for 5 hours but still it just showed the blank screen.
I can boot to fastboot on the phone, and Philz recovery too. The only way to remove encryption is supposed to be factory reset, but factory reset is giving an error about unable to mount /sdcard. I guess this is because /sdcard is now an encrypted partition so cannot mount it normally.
Most other options that I can think of are resulting into this problem of inability to mount /sdcard. Please help, I am stuck here.
thanks a million
Ok guys, I was able to restore to stock ROM using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219
thanks a lot
Here are the particulars.
rooted
Display JZO54K
Fingerprint = motorola/tervigon/wingray:4.1.2/JZO54K/.....
Loaded elementalx - xoom- v1.3 three months ago ran fine. Stupidly, I did not flash a backup. Now after deleting cache, factory reset, stuck in "loading apps" after splash, the boot loops back to motorola screen where I can launch CWM v4.0.0.4 - I want to get a ROM on there and continue using this mission-critical dinosaur. Can someone help?
I guess the real question is can a rom be copied onto the ext-sd card via windows out of the xoom? If so will CWM see it and will it work?
Have not tried connecting and using ADB. Not feeling confident enough at this point. ext SD still has data but when in CWM device does not show up in Windows.
TIA for any help
Geoff

I pushed a stock rooted rom via ADB (I found the internal sdcard is accessible via the ADB shell) . The stock rom showed up in the CWM select zip file list. Installed the rom and the xoom animation freezes then continues the boot loop - regardless of rom installed. Cleaned system cache and davik cache as well after factory wipe. I am beginning to think hardware issues. No amount of cajoling will get this thing to boot into its OS. Either memory or processor - when it worked, I did have it running incredicontrol and 1.4 ghz and the max memory limitation upped to 64MB in order to run a lecture player for school.
Hi,
Yesterday I've installed Antutu on my Asus The new Padfone Infinity A86, started it and from then it wont load. Here is detailed explanation of the prolem:
The boot Asus logo shows, the other Asus logo shows then the ROM background(wallpaper) image shows and immediately restarts/my PC recognizes Padfone T004 MTP and immediately restarts. Here is what I have tried:
1. Factory reset and cache wiping.
2. Reinstall with firmware versions from 12.4.0.72 to 11.2.5.26, performing 1. for every of the versions(there are no custom ROMs for this device).
3. Installed TWRP and tried 1 and 2 again.
4. Formated the system, data, chache, dalvik cache and internal storage partitions.
5. Tried 1 and 2 again(Figured out that 12.4.*.* versions are just updates and continued trying with 11.2.5.26).
6. Removed the phone's battery for 10 minutes.
7. Reinstalled boot.img and recovery.img trough fastboot.
8. Created system.img from the system folder in firmware version 11.2.5.26 and installed boot.img, recovery.img and system.img trough fastboot.
This problem occurred to me again a few months ago when I started Beach Buggy but cache wiping fixed the problem then, now I can't fix the problem. Do you have any idea how can I fix my PadFone?
