Hey, I've just found this device (the LTE variant) under ton of dust in the wardrobe and would like to revive it as my back-up phone. What custom ROM would you recommend for this unit? Does installing nougat make sense, or is 1 GB or ram too little? What would be, in your opinion, the most stable rom that is not touchwiz based? Thank you in advance for all the replies, I've never owned this phone, so I have no idea
In my case, I have nougat (with lineageos 14.1) and it works just perfect for me. I reccomend you to try, if you finally don't like the ROM you can always change, for example, to an Android 5.1 based ROM.

I want to root this Tab for my Dad 'cause he is tired of its sluggishness with all the samsung bloatware....so I want to install a stable ROM (preferably 4.4.4 or lollipop if its usable yet) which he can use as a daily driver. Since he works, I won't get much time with his Tab to experiment it to know for myself.
Can you please suggest 2-3 ROMs that I can try tonight?

Slim, Dhollmen or Markos CM11......Only try 4.4.4 Roms (which those all are) They are all very stable. Follow OP directions and you;ll be good to go.
CM11 running 4.4.4 is your best bet, just plain android with no bloat, no bells, no whistles.

I need to install a ROM on my dad's P3100 as well, so I took your suggestions and plan to install Slimkat
Question is, What is the best suitable Kernel I should install with it?
Stock? or are there any custom kernels made for it?

If you want Lollipop, I reccommend @Android-Andi's SLimLP. It is very stable (at least for me).
If stability is a factor for a user that doesn't want to troubleshoot the tablet every time they go to use it stay away from lollipop, these dinosaur tabs can't handle lollipop, kitkat is as good as it gets.

I want to flash a new custom rom, which is lighter, and better than this. I used CyanogenMod but it only has nightly version, and it was not really stable(it still has camera, snapchat, on call problems).
So I am asking if you can suggest me a stable, lightweight and nicely designed(like touchwiz or cm) ROM.

There,, you'll find many, many different opinions on what ROM/kernel combination is best, search and read through the threads. Also, since its a Exynos-based device, Custom ROMs are very difficult to make and most will have at least some bugs.

I got a real good deal on the samsung s7 so i took it.
My question to you is, shall is stick to stock os or install a custom rom?
the reason i ask this is cause i was using a redmi note 4 and the custom firmware is kinda buggy, i need to reboot once a while. its running on 8.1.
it has LTE issues, Keyboard issues, apps crash randomly, slows down once a while.
Also, if i root it and install 8.1 on my samsung will the camera quality go down? i have heard this is true? can someone please correct me.
Honestly i want a stable experiance with a good camera, thats all.

Stable & Full camera quality, stick to stock
You need a TouchWiz ROM with stock camera app to get 100% camera quality
Custom ROMs are much more likely to be unstable than stock, but I haven't tried any

I've run a variety of Custom AOSP / AOKP Roms on my S7 - Nougat and Oreo 8.1 - After the latest Samsung Firmware update - I figured that I'd run Stock Rooted for a while - Stock is Definitely more stable than any of the AOSP /AOKP Custom Roms and the Camera is one thing that is constantly being complained about on AOSP / AOKP Roms.... That being said - If you like the idea of Running a Custom Rom & are prepared for some bugs - They can certainly be used as a Daily Driver ??

its easy for me to say i guess! im sure its tough. well, i guess i'll install the pixel rootless launcher and keep using this beast! im not much of a heavy user its just whatsapp and instagram chats mostly.
though i'll miss android 8.1. but stability is worth it!

Nope. If you want camera performance and overall stability, go with touchwiz. 8.1 aosp is in beta rn

Also how is the camera comparison between COS 13.1.2 vs any other custom ROM.

I'd say stock, sultan lineage 14.1, lineage 15. Anything else, maybe, maybe not. I think Carbon is also pretty stable but I'd stick to barebones ROMs as close as possible.
Stock will always be most stable, but custom roms nowadays are generally just as good or better.
I'm on ArrowOS, Android9, but I can also vouch for (sultan) LineageOS 14.1 (nougat) , my previous daily, not a single issue whatsoever, and fast!

I havent Tried 15, but I'm sure it would prob do fine as well.
As for Camera's I always seem to have issues on any rom, the link above to the lineageOS 14.1 boasts custom camera features, so I'm sure it would be fine, honestly I never used it much, I mostly stick with the FB messenger camera app, always seems less blurry, lol

Try the official Resurrection Remix Nougat, been using it without any issues for the past year.

Therefore, then comes the time to flash a custom ROM / get rooted.
So, is it about time to switch to a custom ROM for OP6?

Not really.
Using stock Rom with root since day 1 and never felt my system getting slower or feeling for any other reason that a custom Rom is needed.
I am pretty sure that a factory reset will make your device fast as new.

I use a custom ROM for privacy (no google).
The most stable ones with 10.3.0 firmware are currently Omnirom, LineageOS (Unofficial), and crDroid. Syberia is also good but Russian based (some concerns obviously).
