Most stable ROM want to give my opo to mom - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to give my phone to my mom. She ain't tech friendly so I'm looking for a very stable ROM for her. Android version doesn't matter also. Should I go back to COS 13.1.2 last stock version of COS for our device opo. Or do you guys recommend any other custom ROM.
Also how is the camera comparison between COS 13.1.2 vs any other custom ROM.

I'd say stock, sultan lineage 14.1, lineage 15. Anything else, maybe, maybe not. I think Carbon is also pretty stable but I'd stick to barebones ROMs as close as possible.

Stock will always be most stable, but custom roms nowadays are generally just as good or better.
I'm on ArrowOS, Android9, but I can also vouch for (sultan) LineageOS 14.1 (nougat) , my previous daily, not a single issue whatsoever, and fast!
Here's Link if ya wanna check it out
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/orig-development/rom-kernel-unofficial-lineageos-14-1-3-t3626403
I havent Tried 15, but I'm sure it would prob do fine as well.
As for Camera's I always seem to have issues on any rom, the link above to the lineageOS 14.1 boasts custom camera features, so I'm sure it would be fine, honestly I never used it much, I mostly stick with the FB messenger camera app, always seems less blurry, lol

Try the official Resurrection Remix Nougat, been using it without any issues for the past year.

Can't get much better than the stock rom that comes with it. Can't get much more stable. Why go to custom rom?

No random bluetooth, cellular and wifi driver crashes on this?
Here is the Optimized stock rom for you. You don't need computer to flash it as you can flash it via custom recovery like twrp.

None of them for me.
Try pure nexus ROM,very few app come out of the build and install only what you need.Very stable for me
Stock... You need stock ROM for this situation, it is the most stable and battery friendly and the least confusing. At least they could ask someone who has general familiarity with Android questions without going into menus on Res Remix or AICP or something that would confuse them.
The situation calls for simplicity, stability, and functionality... stock is the best choice. If you don't have your backup, look around here, there are plenty of tutorials on how to go back to stock.
Go with stock rom
I was also looking for a stable ROM for Moto G3 XT1541. Interesting to see all the recommendations here to stay with the stock ROM. My reason for considering a custom ROM was that I've stopped getting system updates: last was around June with Android patch security level 1 April 2017 so I've assumed no more updates are being issued. I'm not comfortable using a system that isn't getting security updates, so is a custom ROM the way to go?
(Hope this isn't considered thread hijacking, happy to post as new thread if so.)
Stock or LineageOS, as they don't have unnecessary customizations.

Looking for *stable* custom ROM

I realize that this is not the first topic to ask for custom ROM advice, and that the general advice is "try some and pick the one you like best". This thread is different in that I am specifically looking for a stable custom ROM. I was surprised to find out that LineageOS does not offer any stable builds for our device, nor does AOKP; they both only offer nightlies. Are there alternatives that do offer stable builds?
You can try Ressurection Remix. I used it last month and its pretty stable. Also this ROM recently (22.12.17) got update.
Also have great customization options too!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/development/rom-resurrection-remix-n-5-8-2-t3587204
But if you want good Oreo 8.1 Rom then I suggest crDroid. I use it now and i am satisfied with it. Only flaw that i cant get Magisk root to work. (also recent update 21.12.2017)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/development/rom-crdroid-android-4-0-t3696388
Nothing is as stable as stock.

me too Nougat will be preferable, so maybe someone with experience will say something, now I am on stable STOCK
do you want a 7.1.1 build (probably CM/Lineage 14.1) or Oreo (probably new aospex https://forum.xda-developers.com/20...xtended-rom-v5-0-t3681997/page53#post75051303 but camcorder not work in 8.x builds have to use footej or cameraFi2.) Holler if you need more pointers. LinOS 15.x is not supported at the moment even though the thread is there.
look at https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/general/pursuing-8-1-osprey-moto-g-2015-t3718416 for pointers to 3 other 8.x builds.
You can try this - Ressurection remix, very stable Nougat 7.1.2
https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/development/rom-resurrection-remix-n-5-8-2-t3587204
Resurrection Remix is not stable - according to the topic you link to, it's Beta
If Oreo roms do not have full functionality, then I'll have to stick to Nougat!
yep.
I have been running nightlies (12/15 and updated to the 12/29 yesterday just because I was messing with something) on Lineage OS 14.1, and as far as I'm concerned, it seems as stable as a CM 'snapshot'. This is my primary phone, and I haven't had a random reboot, or any issues to speak of like I was used to with older ROMs on previous phones. I've been on it for a few weeks, finally decided it was time to unlock the bootloader and get off of the stock ROM, since the device is well past the stock OTA window.
If you recall on CM, "stable" releases were pretty rare and usually came out well after the next android version was already released. I'm planning to update maybe once a month, I don't see the need to jump on every nightly, but occasionally something interesting gets added to an update.

ordered Samsung s7 Exynos version[SHALL I INSTALL CUSTOM ROM]

Hello,
I got a real good deal on the samsung s7 so i took it.
My question to you is, shall is stick to stock os or install a custom rom?
the reason i ask this is cause i was using a redmi note 4 and the custom firmware is kinda buggy, i need to reboot once a while. its running on 8.1.
it has LTE issues, Keyboard issues, apps crash randomly, slows down once a while.
Also, if i root it and install 8.1 on my samsung will the camera quality go down? i have heard this is true? can someone please correct me.
Honestly i want a stable experiance with a good camera, thats all.
Please advice.
Stable & Full camera quality, stick to stock
You need a TouchWiz ROM with stock camera app to get 100% camera quality
Custom ROMs are much more likely to be unstable than stock, but I haven't tried any

I've run a variety of Custom AOSP / AOKP Roms on my S7 - Nougat and Oreo 8.1 - After the latest Samsung Firmware update - I figured that I'd run Stock Rooted for a while - Stock is Definitely more stable than any of the AOSP /AOKP Custom Roms and the Camera is one thing that is constantly being complained about on AOSP / AOKP Roms.... That being said - If you like the idea of Running a Custom Rom & are prepared for some bugs - They can certainly be used as a Daily Driver ??
Sent from my SM-G955W ??
Hey thanks for the reply guys!
i thought maybe since the device is old someone might have ported a stock quality like camera.
its easy for me to say i guess! im sure its tough. well, i guess i'll install the pixel rootless launcher and keep using this beast! im not much of a heavy user its just whatsapp and instagram chats mostly.
though i'll miss android 8.1. but stability is worth it!
i was thinking how about i install a 8.1 rom+ google camera[ is it stable and better than stock now?]

Nope. If you want camera performance and overall stability, go with touchwiz. 8.1 aosp is in beta rn
Great, I shall wait for a while then
Thank you guys!

What Stock-based ROM are you still using (2018)?

Just got a spare Z3, and since this device has been quite inactive on developments and such, the most preferred route is to stay stock for stability.
Now, I looked on our Android Development section and there seems to have a couple of stock-based ROMs which are good, and now, even in 2018, I was wondering what stock-based ROMs you guys are still using?
Any bias comments are welcome as long as it's spoken through experience. Also, a combination of Stock-based ROM a Custom Kernel would be nice to hear as well, if you use those.
Thanks guys for noticing~
:good:
Ever heard of OFFICIALLY supported
I use carbon Rom. It's supported officially.
And TWRP 3.2.1.0
Use gapps or mindthegapps
Updated weekly before. Now it's monthly.
No bugs, stable!!
0 problems in 2018
With that firmware & hardware

Any ways to use cyberian camera on carbon oreo? Right now im using existenz on my z3c, everything is ok and it has tones of customizations i can recommend for z3 too. But the best rom for battery is still slimm rom. Whatever lets turn back to my question, only because it is not possible use cyberian cam on carbon oreo i will go for carbon nougat with xperia ui. Can you share your experience with snapdragon camera if you use oreo version?
i have djust used the default camera app that came preinstalled with the rom. as 3rd party apps arent as good as stock. And its really good enough.
and i dont like to use outdated roms still on 6.0 M
im a crazy chronic updater.

search in the Carbon or Omni Thread, someone posted magisk Modules for this
There should also be a guide in there for (regular) flashing this.

Choosing the right rom

Hey guys, i hope it's okay to write the question here.
So basically in a couple of days my 360h period ends and i can finally unlock the bootloader and root the phone.
My problem is, its been a while since i used something else as lineageos, and to make it even harder the note 6 pro has this notch (which seems to be a problem for some roms?)
So my question is quiet simple... which rom should i use for best performance and no notch issues?
should i stay with a MIUI rom and try to debloat the stuff like the "whatsapp cleaner"? (i never used Whatsapp for example), just install lineage os (and hope there is no notch issue) or should i go for a project treble rom, where my biggest issue is: what exactly is the huge difference between the usual roms and a project treble rom?
Each rom (official or not) has pros and cons, and each user has individual taste so....
I tried official and beta from MIUI, official and beta from xiaomi.eu, lineageOS 15, Pixel Experience, Havoc OS v2.1 and SuperiorOS
For now I'm using Bootleggers. I like it, but maybe you won't....

Can u plz suggest me best ROM for battery back up for my note 6 pro(tulip) thanks in advance
I tried AEX, crDroid and RR.
AEX is by far the worst. Display doesn't look good and device is slow.
RR has some issues, specially with the notch, battery and performance. Apps freeze a lot.
crDroid is the best. Great performance, great battery life and good notch compatibility.

according to me eu roms for note 6 pro have the best battery backup, they dont come with all the useless gapps like google play book etc so i suggest give eu roms a try. moreover remember customization and battery backup are inversely proportional.
hit thanks :good:

is CrDroid still the best custom rom for n6p? How about SOT, overall performance,... on CrDroid and other roms? Is it worth to switch from stock miui 10 to any of these custom roms? On miui i've 1-2 days of usage at 6-7h SOT....
At the moment, there are a couple choices in terms of roms. At this point there is not really a "perfect" or amazing rom available for this device just yet. I have been testing the "official" and "unofficial" roms and they are decent but they have a long way to go until I would consider using them on a day to day basis. A lot of them have bugs which is a given, considering how relatively new this device is. It would be great to see official support for roms such as Paranoid Android, Lineage OS and Resurrection Remix. But this will take time like everything. If we look at the recovery side of things, we are still trying to get an official recovery which will be essential. From what I have seen TWRP by ATG Droid is probably the 'closest' recovery we have to something the same stability and features seen from an "official" recovery. Take what I have said with a grain of salt, pretty much all of this is opinionated if you did not get the memo.
