Hello,
I have a very old tablet, Prestigio PMP7280C3G_QUAD. The device became very laggy. I performed full factory reset, it helped, but not for long time and even the tablet is now quite clean, it has a problem opening some basic apps like Store, or even lags for like 2 minutes when switching WIFI on.
Well, that tablet is and was in dialy basic use, but I believe, I haven't been overloading it by some games or compute-difficult apps for some long period of time, like "maaaybe the HW is already "worn-out" or something"
What I do believe in is, that this is some step from Prestigio as some kind of "safety switch", that the user need to buy a new tablet, when this one is quite unusable by the lags.
So my question is, Do actually exists some not original nonPrestigio ROM, that could refresh my device? I have searched a little bit, but I found only root solution or ROMs for 7280c (and not 7280c3g). So .. anyone knows about some archive, old hidden place, topic or whatever? Or some other rom, which is not originally ment to be for this tablet, but is compatible with its HW?
Thanks in advance, have a nice day

Good day all.
Last summer I accepted to install Google Now after some suggestion from Google. I quickly realized that this was extremely intrusive and overtook my pad time and again. At the time I blamed that on the fact that my pad was fairly new and was extremely buggy and unstable in every respect.
Now, after many updated and firmware fixes, my Transformer TF700 is much more stable. Lately Google Now has started popping up unasked overtaking the pad. It crashes whatever application I am using and just sits in the lower left corner as if waiting for me to use it. While my pad goes through these episodes, that can last from few minutes up to half an hour, my pad is completely useless.
I have uninstalled everything I can find that resembles Google Now but that does not seem to be enough. I simply can not do anything at all. Anything I try to do the Google Now crashes. I have been able to "force" my way into the app manager (meaning I just make continuous attempts to get into setting/Apps until successful) but there is no Google Now available under running apps.
I have installed all updates and am at version 4.1.1
Any ideas what I can do? This is just too annoying and just last night this behavior prevented me taking meeting minutes in a very important meeting.
Help! Please!

Google now should work fine on your tablet. You definitly have some issue with your OS, I suggest you should download the full firmware from Asus, do a factory reset then reflash the full firmware. This should fixed your Google now and anything else too.

I gather you are on the stock ROM? You cannot actually uninstall any system module on stock; you can only disable them (same result on the exterior, though).
You could give unlocking and installing a custom ROM a thought: they generally either do not include Google Now at all or only at your own discretion (with CROMI, for example, it is an optional install). Are you rooted? If so, you can try installing Titanium Backup and freeze system modules in the app list and hunt it down that way. It seems to be starting up now, missing some component or access. I do not have it installed at all anymore (I found it useless out of the box, and although people recommended it as becoming better with time as it 'learned' what to present me with, I didn't find any improvement on finding the info myself by hand, and it is too US-centered for us Europeans, anyway -- I have no use for yesterday's American Football results.

I suppose I will attempt this and try to choke Google Now after reflashing.
I found the firmware on ASUS web but now I do not know how to proceed. I will look for info about reflashing.
What is mu best option regarding backing the tablet up? I have rather a lot of stuff locally on the tablet that I wish not to loose.
Thanks.

You are correct, I am on the stock ROM and I have not rooted yet. The tablet was so unstable in the first few weeks after I got it so I did not dare void the warranty yet. After it has stabilized I might root it if there is a reason to.
Google Now is WAY to intrusive and, like you said, to US-centric to be of much use to me.
Is there a usable backup solution that does not require me to be rooted?
Thanks,
Ólafur

Download the full firmware from Asus, unzip the file then copy the unzipped file to the root of your micro sdcard, you should see a notification for update, tab on it and let it rip! BTW, without root, not much you can do even try to backup your device.(it's not going to be a complete backup but a half ass one).

Hi. ASUS has an Unlock Device App on its support page. If I get that and, backup, and reflash will I not be back to untooted? If that is so,will I not have trouble restoring my stuff?
As you realize I have not given this much time. I just want to use my devices and not have to be plagued by stuff like this. To me, my phone is a utility first, toy second. I do not have the time to play with it as much as I would like and therefore this kind of operation is all a bit blurry.
I am an IT manager and have been for over 20 years so I am technically aware but have not given my current Android platform enough time yet.
Many thanks,
Ólafur

Well, if you want your device to run really well, then you need to unlock your device and flash custom rom/kernel. Many ppl kicked themselves in the bud for not doing this sooner. Sure if you unlocked, warranty is voided, but it well worth the hassle. OK back to your topic, in order to root, without unlocking, you need to downgrade back to ICS version .30, root your device, install OTA root keeper, then do incremental upgrade back to JB. The only advantage with root is so you can install rooted backup app to backup all your apps (system apps, user's apps and all the settings), rooted will not improve your device performance at all, but if you unlocked and flash custom rom, you will see a huge improvement on performance.

hi, first post here, i have the same device and faced the same problem after an upgrade.
however they mentioned in the readme that should you face such a thing you need to do a factory reset after the upgrade and it'll work fine.
hope this helps.
Hello!
I would like to ask for help installing either a new Cubot X6 Android or a linux based system. Until recently I wasn't aware of what kind of aggressive trojans for Android happen to compromise a phone to a degree where the solution is to buy a new one. I do not want to accept that. Therefor I am here to ask for help.
WLAN enabled - the phone runs nutts. It causes unknown apps to be installed, ruining the function of the phone completely. I bought it via ebay, a used Cubot X6. I had the device years ago until i sat on it which happened to break the display, but I liked it and bought it again, used. (The used one cost 60 bucks, a replace-display would have cost 35, so I ran with the used one - big mistake as it turned out).
Now, it's root-system is compromised. I set it to only allow apps from trusted sources. I did not download any apps beside well known trust-worthy ones, like google-maps, WhatsApp, all together.
When I first enabled WLAN, it suddenly started to display a message of the shutting down of "org.rain.ball.update" and also "ssCleaner ("suc", "chengele") is trying to obtain your current position", "ymm" cancelled, and several others. If I allow WLAN it automatically downloads 10-20 apps, some of which correlate with my laptop visited websites (alibaba), others apps from sites I have never visited ("sexy videos"). Basically the phone gets so busy that it needs to be restarted to allow any control of the phone.
I tried to fix it with Avaast, Avira, and Malewarebytes without success. With Avaast it also displays: "/storage/sdcard0/.androidsdata/is.jar", but is unable to fix it. I guess I would have to erase the SD-Card too, if I were to have the system replaced, once. None of the above things can be fixed with the tools at hand. The deletions are always interrupted, nothing gets improved permanently.
I immediately did a "Reset to factory condition", but when I enabled WLAN I didn't even install an app - it all started again, as described above.
So, a quick Google-Research turned out, there are trojan-horses, that cover themselves by pretending to be system applications, so that it would be nearly impossible to get rid of the trojan - only solution: buy a new one (See this article wwwDOTblog.lookout.com/blog/2015/11/04/trojanized-adware/).
Now, while I have a broken device and a trojan device, one solution would be to mount the display of the compromised one onto the broken one. I know it's easy to break the display during this. That's why I am here to ask, if someone might have suggestions of what else could be done to have this fixed?
Maybe it would be possible to get an uncompromised mirror-image of a Cubot X6 from the internet that would replace every data on mine? Would it fix it, if I were to install this: "Ubuntu Touch - Version 15.04 Phone"?
Any help would be appreciated. If I were to take a wild guess, I'ld say the trojan horses might have been developed by Apple...... So what am I to do now? Buy a new one?
EDIT: If you were to not believe this to be true, I could shoot a video of it with my laptop. It's really strange, but it is as it is. EDIT 2: Avaast displays a message, the phone has been rooted.
Please help!! Thank you so much!!
You won't get the virus to YOUR phone from replying ...
Am I here at the right forum for this technical problem?
Thanks
Do a search for your rom and instructions on how to flash. It will replace system partition and problem should then be gone.

A google search for "cubot x6 firmware" will give you some good results.
Here's also Cubot forums, with link to downloads.
Hope that will help, and be sure to read up on the subject on how to flash before you start
So many Thanks! You linked me to the perfect spot! Thank you!
While i will redo my laptop with linux soon, you got experience with having linux on the phone? If i wee to try and mes up, it still were possible to go bac to the original cubot files u linked to, correct?
Thank you!!
Hello guys, as you probably see I'm new at this forums, there's only one reason I joined and is because I own the BLU STUDIO X5 (S390U) since while ago.
I noticed that this phone has built-in somewhat thing of malware on the system APKs of it. What do I mean? Don't matter how many times you do a clean, use anti-malware apps, hard-reset, even flashing to a new stock ROM or a CROM made from the original one: The problem is going to persist.
So... Tell us, which would be the solution? Well I was analysing all the possibilities, even evolving a CROM of it, however this infection it seems to be part of other APKs components, as it is visible through Anti-MalwareBytes, that Settings.APK is corrupted with it.
The solution it seems to be easy but it could be complex, even knowing that other APKs could be infected but are not listed on the scanns: Erasing Settings.APK and try to replace it with a non-infected one, but this is complex as I said.
Before I continue I need to explain what this infection does: After you use the smartphone for first time (counting resets, flashes, etc.) the smartphone is just good, even if your not using internet.
After sometime you will notice some new apps installed on your smartphone, what this infection does is to install them under what it could be called a "Silence mode", PlayStore is not needed to download such apps, either a Web Browser.
But, hey, this doesn't sound bad as it just sounds annoying lad... Aye, this sounds as if the problem is only something redundantly annoying, but not is only that, this malware is found as a Hijack and doesn't sound bad too, however, if someone with enough knowledge knows how to manage a Hijack it can even steal info from your smartphone.
But probably you're thinking, well you can fix it not allowing Unknown Sources APKs to install on it, well...
This is what it takes me to the second point of it: This malware changes the settings of your smartphone whatever the times it wants by itself, don't matter which app you use to not allow this change by itself, it is going to do it anyway.
But why? It seems that the infection has Root Access, what this mean is that it has a higher level access (is running under an Administrator mode).
And we're back again to the solution, you'll think: Maybe if I root it and replace the Settings.APK is going to be fixed, well is not that easy, apart of wasting your time, the smartphone can be even more vulnerable and unstable.
The best solution that is going to work and that's why I posted this here:
To fix this the Stock ROM must be re-built from zero. I'd do this on my own, the problem is that I'm not an advanced user, and I still learning programming and coding at my degree, every help with this would be flawlessly.
Hi
Please help.
Its my little boys tablet, he has autism.
When I go into manage apps and click installed applications, after a few seconds it will quit back to the main options screen without me doing anything. This makes it really hard to end-apps or to clear cache or data. Anyone any idea why this happens?
This is the second time I have seen this happening, it happened on the same tablet we had before that eventually broke.
Please help
Just to add, I dont know what causes this.
It could be that today we installed a new app and on first run it crashed and I had to close/stop the app and was trying to do it through the applications management settings when it crashed, so that might have corrupted something.
I also wondered if it was a specific app that might be causing it, but due to my boys language difficulties I cannot find out from him which apps he installed recently and I dont know how long it has been like this as it has been a few weeks since I needed to close an app forcefully like this.
So I cant be certain what has caused it.
All I know is that it used to be fine and now when I go into the settings to go to running-apps to try close an app, it flicks me back to the main settings menu page. We have had about or of these tablets (my boys autism cannot handle change) and the last one had this same thing happen to it which is stayed like it for a few weeks before it had an app crash that then bricked the tablet when I tried to re-boot. So it worries me that this is the second time I have seen this occur and I fear for what it means for his tablet. With his autism he just cannot handle change at all, especially with tablets, so upgrading to a new one is not really an option.
Please, anyone any ideas?
Thanks for any thoughts
Hi alex ,
Are you using the 2012 kindle fire hd?
Or a more recent 7 inch model?
Are you on the amazon stock rom (operating system) or have you installed a custom rom?
Hi its the 2012 Kindle FIre HD, not newer, and has the stock amazon rom on it, I have never altered anything on it only installed game apps for my boy from the amazon store.
I see , the best thing would be to factory reset it and reinstall only the apps you know came from the store .With a good internet conection it should be a matter of less than 1 hour
Please do take in consideration that the knidle fire hd shipped with android 4.0 and some apps may have stopped or will stop working in the near future , to try to ease the process in case you flash a custom rom or buy a new tablet may I suggest to try a launcher like nova launcher and see how your son reacts to it? If it is a negative reaction then you can simply uninstall the launcher and keep using the kindle fire's stock launcher

Thanks. Resetting isnt good as it would lose all his progress in games and so would be an upset. Custom rom I think would also upset. All the apps are from the store nothing is side loaded.
I guess I will just have to leave it as it is and hope it doesnt crash.
Thanks for your help anyway!
