Hi. My microphone has stopped working. When I place calls, The receiver can't hear me. When I put them on speaker, it works fine. Take them off speaker, they can't hear me again. I've done a factory reset - no help. Anyone got any ideas on this? Thanks!

Honestly it's new enough i wouldn't even bother troubleshooting especially if you are within your 14 day exchange period just bring it back and swap it. To answer your question though i haven't heard of anyone else having the issue so i don't think it's anything widespread

Hi,
this morning I got a call. well... I couldnt hear anything. back speaker works but the headphone doesnt. I dont know what kind of problem it is. I tried to switch to loud speaker while call and nothing happend - which is weird when it works for other sounds while not calling.
I tried some restores, wiping. nothing worked Do you thing that it is a HW problem?
Thank you
EDIT: Ok, I found out that switiching to speaker works... so, it looks the headphone is gone I think I need to make unROOT and send it back to the shop
Hi, I got this problem that my phone sometimes outputs strange noise instead of the other's voice when on a call. It has happened with outgoing and ingoing calls. Right now I use official Cyanogenmod 10.1 ROM but it has happened before with others.
Has anyone else this issue as well? Can anyone help?
Maybe I'll try putting it on the speaker and see if it's still broken. And switch back and see if it's still broken then.
Thanks guys.

I have experienced that before as well. Good question on changing audio outputs to see if that resets it!
Hi,each time i call someone they always repeat that they not hear me loud enough
it is making me crazy!!! Has someonelse had the same issue? anyone found an answer? is there any mod that can help to solve this issue
thanks
I´ve heard the same complaint about three times now, but I don´t make phone calls to often.. I think it may be wise to test it further, so I will do that when I have an additional phone later on the day

I made a thread about it as well since I thought I was the only person with the problem.
I figured out that you're most probably covering the secondary mic (found on the top of the phone). I was unintentionally covering it whilst I was on the phone and people complained about how they couldn't hear me well.
Hope this helps!
Hello!
I've got an strange problem with the audio on my Nexus 5. If I play music without headphones, there's no audio output through the phone speakers. But if I press the Volume-Up-Button the typical sound is played through my phone speakers, and also the ringtone when I'm called is hearable.
If I plug in a headset, every sound is played through the headset, like normally.
I've got the newest CyanogenMod Nightly and I already tried returning to stock, but it doesn't help
It's really frustrating, it suddenly occured, from one day to another.
Looks like my Nexus is always thinking that theres a headset plugged in, even if there isn't. And there's also nothing in the headphone jack.
I've already searched, but hadn't found someone who has a similiar problem, so I thought I ask here, before I contact the Google Support.
Maybe someone of you can help me. Thanks in advance!
Greetings,
Markus

Have you looked at the media volume level in settings/sounds/volumes? Just to rule it out.
Couple of things.
The phone could think that the headphones are still plugged in. Try plugging it in and pulling out a couple times.
It could be RMA time if you go back to completely stock and this still happens.

I got that problem since more than a week already and I still use my phone, so I plugged it in and out almost permanently, but thanks.
And yeah, looks like it's RMA time, unfortunately.

Then you can do a data factory reset or reflash the factory image and if that doesn`t help yo might contact Google for a RMA (as allready stated above by another user).

already did a factory reset and flashed the factory image, like mentioned in my first post.
Hey, OP, did you find a solution to this? My phone just started doing this today as well, and I'd prefer to avoid RMA if possible.
Well, I found out the phone had been dropped in some semi-liquid food. So I opened up the back cover a bit, found some remains and cleaned it up and now it works fine again. Woot! Not sure if that is relevant to anyone else though (or if it really made a difference or was just a coincidence), lol.
In my case, it wasn't something like that. I just contacted Google for a RMA and got a new device very fast.
Some liquid inside the phone
Hey there!
This afternoon my Nexus 5 started to have the same problem you have related. I remove the back cover and I discover that it was full of liquid against the surface. I was running with the phone in my pocket (condensed sweat), so I recommend not to do that.
I have dried it and it seems that doesn't work yet =(
I hope my answer will help anyone with the same problem (at least to know a possible source of the problem).
I'm having a few Issues with audio on my pixel that I'm having a hard time finding answers to.
1. The biggest issue that I'm having the hardest time finding info about is this; when listening to music through my headphones after about 5 seconds there will be a pop, the all the audio on my phone will stop working completely. no, mic, no assistant, no headset, bluetooth, speakerphone, or speaker in general.
2. Often, my pixel will just not detect headphones at all. or detect them, then play no sound.
3 Sometime only the mic stops working. I know this one is common in android in general.
A reboot fixes all these things, but the headphone pop happens every single time. I'm talking with support now and they want me to factory reset the phone, so we'll see what happens after that. My questions are if any of you have found fixes, and if the problems happen on custom ROMs. And Does ROMing void the warranty on this phone?
Did you buy your phone from Verizon or Google? The pop and audio dying compare results of a poorly made headphone plug. Check with another pair of headphones and see if you get the same results unless you already have. If the alignment is slightly off it could be shorting across contacts although I don't understand why would work for a short period of time and then stop.
I had the issue with several pairs of headphones and auxillary cables. I talked with Google support and they had me factory reset the phone, and that seems to have fixed the headphone jack issue. The other issues still persist with the mic and call problems though.
The guy from Google support doesn't seem to be getting it. I told him that I'm still having issues the other stuff, but he keeps asking if I tried other headphones. This is the 5th time he's asked.
Yeah, the mic only works about %20 of the time. I've had to restart my phone just to make phone calls for about a week now. I'm going to try and get a replacement.
I'm having an issue from time to time where the phone speaker at the top stops working when taking a call. Only happened twice in 3-4 months. reboot fixed it... ugh..
That's how mine started. Now, o times out of ten I have to restart my phone and pray that my phone likes me that day to make a phone call.
Figured I would pop in here guys. Had a Pixel since launch and have had myriad problems, mic stopped working and couldn't make calls, headphones not being recognized. Factory reset didnt help, safe mode no help, etc. Scoured the net and found on google product forums a possible solution, tried it and so far it has worked.

basically go to clock app, find alarms and delete them, then delete data and cache from clock app and reboot. worked a charm for me, try it out.
I'll give this a shot. How long has this been working for you?

Occasionally. Typically a reboot fixes it for me.

I'm just waiting until I get another screen ordered for my MXPE to swap my pixel. If that one has issues too I'll probably just try to get my money back. I love this phone, but that's not an issue I can handle.

If it's not, then it has to be a really deep seated software issue. I flashed pure Nexus to see if it still did it and had no luck at all. Lol
