I bought a used OPO which already had an unlocked bootloader and lineageOS 14.1 installed, my goal is to root and to do so I need to activate the option with twrp (the SuperSU already is on the LineageOS 14.1, but needs to be activated with twrp)
unfortunately, when I flash twrp, I am unable to get it to boot into recovery I have tried various key combinations, volUP+power gets me into fastboot (how i flashed it), volDOWN+power seems to power down before anything happens.
this is how i flashed twrp
Turn the phone off. Then boot it into fastboot mode by holding volume up + power.
Rename the recovery file that you downloaded above to recovery.img. *Make sure that you rename it to recovery.img NOT recovery.img.img* Remember that this file should be placed in the platform-tools folder inside of the android-sdk-windows folder on your desktop.
Open a new command prompt and run the following commands:
Code:
cd Desktop/android-sdk-windows/platform-tools
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Once the flash has completed, Don't use the "Fastboot Reboot" Command Instead Unplug Your phone then Manually turn it off by pressing and holding power button until it switches off. Now to enter your newly installed custom recovery, hold volume down + power. The phone should boot into recovery mode. Now that you have a custom recovery, you may continue to the final step.
Close the command prompt window.
Turn off the phone completely. Then press and hold volume down and power. Release when the first screen comes on.
Alternatively enable Developer options (Settings - About phone - press Build Number several times to enable) then enable Advanced Restart in Developer options and when you press Power button and Restart you then get the option for Restart, Soft Restart, Recovery and Bootloader.
the only options in advanced restart are power off restart airplane mode my gmail account and create new user, this might be because i am using lineageOS and not the stock OS.
when i do the volDOWN+power, the one plus logo appears, the screen closes, then the logo reappears then It is as if i had oppened the phone normaly.
Should i just give up and put the phone back to 100% stock? That ought to work but i<m hoping its not necessary.

I can not get into recovery mode.
What is happening is a loop. I get booted into the fastboot mode and when i click on recovery, the screen goes black and then right back to fastboot mode.
I read all the related posts, and nothing helped. I downloaded Nexus Root Toolkit v1.6.2 and tried to use it as well but it didn't fix my issue. i took a screen shot of the message from NRT. When i get that message, the phone is just sitting at the fastboot menu.

First off, download the attached zip.Extract the zip to your desktop. Open up command prompt and navigate to the folder where you extracted the files. Now connect your phone to your computer and boot into fastboot. In command prompt, type in
fastboot devices
Click to collapse
It should list your phone.
Then type in
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Click to collapse
Now you can boot to recovery on your phone. Download a ROM you like and flash it from the recovery. Make sure to wipe data/cache before flashing the ROM though.
Lemme know if it works.
try another computer to install recovery back or just rom manager by wi-fi.

Quick question, do i need to do anything special to get into fastboot? other than power button + volume up? The first line on the screen says FASTBOOT MODE. Nothing happens when i type in that command. it goes to the next line but nothing shows up.
any idea why my computer can't see the phone in that line? i probably missing a step.

So I finally figured it out. I do apologize for how vague and un informative the question was. It was a case of me needing to dig a little more.
Here is what i did.
I had installed a Rom Manager, CyonGenMod when i rooted the phone. They had a recovery img in the app which i used. I think googled around for cyogenmod 10 and ICS 4.0.4. Then i realized i had to find google apps, so i could add my contacts from gmail. Then it was just messing around with bootloader to get the right setup.
I do appreciate the help, y'all put me on the right path. Made me find answers to the right questions. Again I apologize for not doing more due diligence.
Thanks for the help
no custom recovery loading
I am currently using moto G first generation xt1033 indian dual sim version.
I have soft bricked my phone.
WHAT I HAVE: I have access to fastboot
My bootloader is unlocked
Access to stock recovery
PROBLEM: I have tried to flash twrp , cwm and philz recovery but every time i boot into recovery mode stock recovery loads.
I cannot access USB Debugging mode since the phone is soft bricked.
I have also tried to flash stock firmware no change seen.
I would be glad if you all can help me.
@ravibhat i have read your thread and my starting problem was same as yours @lost101 please help me as well.Thank You

Go to a service centre when you can and share what they've told.
did u use these steps ?
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery ur_recover_zip_name.zip
try different versions of recovery, i suggest u use CWM V6.0.4.7
If that works, use the adb sideload feature to flash the ROM

I can go to the bootloader after entering stock recovery no combination of keys can display the option.
my phone starts normally shows logo and all booting animation but after that it gets stuck on a blank screen showing nothing and no touch response. I have tried aprox 4-5 variants of custom recoveries but i can flash none of them even after trying your command and getting success written on screen.

I'm still on FRD-L09C432B101, haven't had the need to update yet everything just works great. I WAS rooted. Now with nougat around the corner I thought i would prepare my phone for that creamy deliciousness. Said and done i began working on it last night by unrooting through the superuser app (not my smartest move maybe but I couldn't adb and push stock recovery, I just kept getting an error) so I tried to flash recovery.img through twrp which allowed me to try the dload folder method. But everytime I boot into erecovery the phone wants to use wifi and download the update but fails. So now I'm stuck with no root and what seems like no stock recovery for some reason and to top it off unable to use adb.
I think I need some expert help here?
Hey,
Follow this, it should be ok :
- Turn of your phone
- Put the right update.app in the dload folder at the root of your SD CARD
- Plug your USB to your computer
- Press Volume Down and Power button, you will boot in bootloader mode
- Flash the original recovery with fastboot command
- Unplug your USB cable
- Reboot the phone with volume down, volume up and power button pressed
Your phone should update to original.

The FRD-L0xCxxx is your phone model
the B101 in this example is the software version, you need the one that matches your model
and has a higher number than yours for example the next update from B101 is likely B201
search the forums for the firmware or use Huawei firmware finder
guys can someone help me? I should do a clean installation of the system through the "dload" procedure, I state that I'm now using l-09c432b401 (bootloader unlocked) passed a thousand times by various custom rom, flash several stock firmware but they gave me errors, I finally solved partially through the PC flashing boot / vendor.img partition .. here is the phone, but missing various functions .. the point is that I can not install the firmware via the original recovery because it hangs at 5% ... all tried the firmware ... Thanks
For those, who don't know, there's how to unlock/lock bootloader without erasing data:
1. Turn off the phone
2.Hold power & volume down, keep the volume down button pressed!
3.Connect phone to PC, on PC fastboot type:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
still keep the volume down pressed
4.Type:
Code:
fastboot reboot
when phone starts to reboot, release volume down(when black screen appear), for me, when it starts to reboot, I disconnect the phone too
5. Now phone should be unlocked without deleting data partition.
Tested, for me worked 100%, but you need to be careful, or you will lose data!
I hope it helps.

Yes, after unlocking the bootloader turn off the phone and reboot in fastboot mode.
On windows command type "fastboot boot twrp.img", where twrp.img is the name on recovery, and when the phone rebooting into TWRP in provvisoring mode, flash the zip file of the TWRP: in there mode the TWRP are permanent and your data are save.

I'm trying to install PixelExperience following the tutorial here: https://wiki.pixelexperience.org/devices/veux/install/
I got up to the step:
With the device powered off, hold Volume Up + Power. Keep holding both buttons until the “MI” logo appears on the screen, then release.
My device only goes to fastboot when I turn it on though - it won't enter recovery..
When I turn it off, it turns on again straight away and loads into fastboot.
How do I exit fastboot and get into recovery + properly install PixelExperience?
Device is a Poco X4 Pro 5G.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, the commands were run with the file renamed to pixel.img
There has been no change.
The phone will only go to FASTBOOT screen after briefly displaying Poco logo when powered on.
What firmware is the phone currently on?

It was on stock firmware. I'm not 100% sure what that was.
If there's a command I can run to check please let me know.
Nope, the best would be to start from scratch, by installing the stock rom with Miflash.

I'll give it a shot.
Will I need to re-lock the bootloader?
