device: droid mini xt1030
what ive tried: clean install (wiped cache, data, system etc)
method of flashing: first flashed cm13 unofficial obake via twrp 2.8.4.0(clean) then gapps and reboot.
problem: everything works and rom is smooth, nightly dated sep 22 2017,but all nightlies have same problem. no sim signals, phone info says radio off wont turn on via *#*#4636#*#*. installed many times over, rsd lite-d to stock then tried again, same issue.

Hi Zeronexus,
Details please:
1] Which bootloader and baseband are you on?
2] What was the last stock firmware version you flashed?
3] Does your radio work on stock firmware?
4] Who is your carrier? GSM or CDMA?
5] Do WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS work?

Hi Zeronexus,
The obake platform defaults to an expectation of a CDMA network that is configured like Verizon Wireless in the US.
To configure as a GSM phone, you need to issue the following command in bootloader mode:
fastboot oem config carrier gsm
I use Verizon in the US, so I've never tried it on GSM networks, but that's the instructions in the LOS obake README file:
https://github.com/pbarrette/android_device_motorola_obake
Hopefully that works for you.

Hi zeronexus,
At this point, I'm not sure what you can do.
Basically, you have problems with the radio even using stock firmware. Granted, you have a workaround, but it's still not operating correctly.
So it could be that you have a hardware error.
Or, it could be that your SIM is giving bad instructions as to which radio configuration to enable.
That could be due to having a bad SIM card, or having some kind of incompatibility between your carrier and the phone's radio.
You could post the output of a "adb shell logcat -b all" and a "adb dmesg" performed immediately after a reboot.
I'll have a look at them, but I've never been that great at parsing logcat or dmesg files. Maybe someone else will also see them and have a better understanding.
The other thing you can try is finding the newest possible Pakistani ROM for the Moto-X (2013 model, code-named "ghost"), or for the Droid Ultra. You should be able to flash the radio for that to your Mini since they share the same hardware.
You could try different versions of radio firmware for the obake, obakem and ghost platforms and see if any of them work.
You would have to extract the "NON-HLOS.bin" and "fsg.mbn" files from the stock ROMs and do:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
Thanks a lot sir! Even though my issue didn't resolve I appreciate your timely response will try to do what u said,I'm quite familiar with flashing.
If it makes any difference, my device says "device unlocked status code 1" and says Motorola confidential property " on the top,no Verizon logo. These devices have been shipped a lot recently to Pakistan and I doubt these testing devices should be up for sale legally.
It also has a factory mode and some additional boot loader options not available in other droids,I flashed a normal stock ROM but the one it was shipped with had an "S" instead of the KitKat "K" when tapping on android version.

Ok well, I got my replacement Moto G and everything was working ok on 4.3. Then I decided to manually flash Kitkat through adb after unlocking the boot-loader, and now I'm getting no service at all. lol. Um, yea So I have flashed the same firmware on the original Moto G that I had and had no problems flashing it. I don't know why I'm not getting any service on this one? I forgot to mention that I twent back to 4.3 through adb seeing that might of helped and did the kitkat upgrade after, and nada!
Baseband Version: MSM8626BP_1032.340.63.00b
System Version: 172.44.4.falcon_umts.Retail.en.US
Build number: KXB20.9-1.8-1.4
Under status I'm getting Unknown Network, Mobile Network type Unknown, Service State: Radio off, Mobile network state, disconnected, Bluetooth address unavailable. That is what is missing under those sections. I'm assuming it has something to do with the radio/modem. If anyone has one they can let me flash for the Retail US version, I would highly appreciated. :good: Thank you for your help!
maybe a solution

Same issue as OP Help.
I am having the same issue as the OP. I tried to install modem 2 before 1 the way OP stated. But I still cant get any service on my phone. I also have the 1034 version of the device suited for T-Mobile. I tried to flash the stock radio as well but Im not getting any service. If someone knows what the issue is please help.
By the way my wifi is working just fine. Its the network I cant connect to. I tried my sim card and it work in another phone.
Thank you for any help.
I'm also having the same problem. I have a US global model XT-1032 Moto G. No matter what the heck I try to do the radio always stays off on the phone. It worked fine prior to the 4.4.2 OTA update.
I've tried flashing just the modem from the 4.4.2 and 4.3 US firmwares for both the XT-1032 and XT-1034 versions and neither of them work, it always shows the network as unknown and the radio being turned off.
I have even tried erasing the modemst2 then modemst1 in that order and then flashing the modem with the non-hlos.bin file hoping that if I did it in reverse to the normal order it would fix the issue.
The sad thing is that since I unlocked the damn bootloader to do this, now I can't get any kind of warranty repair done on it by Motorola.

I wanted to report that I fixed my problem with my moto-G, it turned out to be a XT-1034 instead of a XT-1032. Ok, so I did something stupid, I was on CM12.1 nightly with basically everything but LTE working, so I looked around for quite a bit but couldn't find what to do, so I thought maybe I inadvertently used the wrong modem when I unlocked bootloader/installed CM12.1/etc.
I downloaded a firmware for my device model/region and got the modem_signed and fsg_signed files from it, I used fastboot to flash them, the fsg flashed just fine, but when I tried to flash the modem I got the following error '(bootloader) Unknown chunk type. FAILED (remote failure)'
After this my device gets stuck on the CM logo while booting, I can still access recovery and the fastboot, I tried reflashing CM12.1 but that did nothing
Looking around, apparently one of the things I did wrong was that I used the wrong fastboot, motorola has their own fastboot for their devices, so I got that and tried reflashing those files, but no luck either
Can anyone help me with this?
I managed to get out of the bootloop, I was a bit desperate there because almost every link I tried was dead, but after a while I found this website with the 4.4 firmware http://fwteam.grupoandroid.com/RAZR HD XT925/ and the modem/fsg files from that firmware worked(with the proper fastboot).
But I still have the LTE problem, my phone can't connect/find any LTE networks, apparently this isn't a problem with CM12.1, does anyone know what to do?
Depends where you are, xt925 may or may not support LTE frequencies. For example my xt925 connects to LTE in USA but not in EU.

Oh sorry, I forgot to mention I was able to connect to my carrier's LTE network when I was on stock JB/KitKat, so I think it shouldn't be a problem with the LTE band/frequency.
This only started after I unlocked bootloader and installed cm12.1(following the recommended steps).
Alright, having flashed CM13 and gotten my phone mostly working again, I'm running into issues with the phone not detecting the SIM card. Most of the information I can find indicates that I need to update the radio firmware, but I can't actually find any that works with my phone! Does anyone have any suggestions?

Alright, so I flashed the listed files and got the phone to recognize my SIM card, but now after it boots up and connects, 30 seconds to 2 minutes later it reboots on me. Any ideas?
Edit: I tried the 5.1.1 firmware and that actually seems to have done the trick, for the most part. It shows Sprint as my network, though, and I'm not sure if that's going to cause any issues further down the line.
Edit 2: Actually, after a reboot it's showing the correct network again and everything has been stable.
I recently unlocked my moto, installed twrp and aokp7.1. due to some reason, tried restoring backup from twrp but didn't unselect modem. Boot into TWRP. Connect USB cable to a computer and drag these files below over to your phone, preferably to the Download folder.
While still in TWRP, flash the @bhb27 "clean modem" file (just in case), then re-flash your XT1225 radio. Reboot your phone.

No, all the Moto XT1225 radios are interchangeable. Should not cause any problems. All the XT1225 have the same FCC ID, same radio bands. The only reason the India XT1225 was called "Moto Turbo" instead of "Moto Maxx" is there was some carrier there in India called Max or Maxx, and Motorola didn't want any confusion this phone was in any way tied to them.
I live in the U.S.A. and my wife and I have Puerto Rico and Mexico Moto Maxx XT1225 phones. At one point in 2015, I flashed both to India "Moto Turbo" firmware 5.0.2. (including radio). When I did that, both phones even stated "Moto Turbo" in the "About Phone" section in Settings. (India XT1225 had Lollipop a month before the other XT1225, so that's why I did it -- to get official Lollipop.) Everything worked fine, of course.
Then months later, I flashed CM 12.1 custom ROM over both, and for awhile kept the India XT1225 radio on both the Puerto Rico and Mexico Moto XT1225.
Then, sometime in 2016 I flashed Puerto Rico Lollipop radio over both (including the "Mexico"), just to see if there was any difference. There wasn't. Now I have this same @bhb27 Brazil Marshmallow radio flashed on both, on RR 6.x. ROM -- because it was the easiest way to update to Marshmallow radio.
If you wish, at some point you can download and re-flash "India" Marshmallow radio files via fastboot. (There's no TWRP version I can find.) But you really won't see any difference...
BHB27 Clean Modem File
For anyone else reading this thread...
I keep both the BHB27 Clean_modem_status.zip and the Marshmallow Moto XT1225 Radio/Modem Zip file in my internal memory download folder permanently, since I flash ROM updates very often. (There's also TWRP version of the XT1254 Marshmallow modem for Droid Turbo owners.)
You shouldn't need the radio zip file every time, but the BHB27 Clean_modem_status.zip file is an amazing and very useful tool. Until @bhb27 coded that, several Quark owners were complaining about GPS issues when installing custom ROM. It did seem to affect Droid Turbo XT1254 owners more than XT1225, and it didn't affect everyone. But, it was still a constant discussion point. Lots of solutions were offered -- I found TopNTP app helped tremendously (and I still recommend installing that app -- just be sure to enable the "survive ROM flash" setting so you dont have to keep re-installing it after ROM updates.).
But the only guaranteed workaround -- prior to this file -- was found to be:
flash back to stock
get a GPS lock
made a backup
then install custom ROM
then restore modem
...or something like that. Forgive me if I don't remember all the details. It was a hassle, but that was the solution.
Then, people started sharing their "good" modem TWRP backup files (which already had a GPS lock), that other people could "restore" via TWRP. That's an excellent example of the XDA community helping each other, and was a quicker way of getting to the same point -- but still not ideal.
The issue was when flashing a new ROM on this phone, the modem sometimes became "confused". On the new ROM, GPS wouldn't work!
THEN, @bhb27 coded this amazing app, which clearly and simply "cleans" the older modem data out. It basically clears the cache of the modem. That may not be a technical explanation, but that's the best way to understand it. BOOM! It SOLVED all the GPS lock problems! :good: When flashing a new ROM on this phone, you should probably also flash this file.
Now, when newbies come into the threads and say "I can't get a GPS lock. Please Fix!" we just roll our eyes because they haven't bothered to do even a basic search of "GPS" in the thread. This is a 2-year old phone (actually released late 2014) and we've had custom ROMs since early 2015. Development is VERY mature on this phone. You don't think we've solved something as basic as GPS? Please.
I flash this file every time I do a ROM update, although it's probably not necessary. It doesn't hurt, and can help prevent any modem/radio issues.
Right on @ChazzMatt, I flash this .Zip file on my xt1250 on Verizon all the time, even just dirty flashing an update.
Of course, thanks to @bhb27 for its availability.
Edit. Wrong post. Sorry

Try re-flashing the modem or even reflashing a different XT1225 modem. I've flashed Puerto Rico, India, and Brazil modems on my XT1225. They all work. Do NOT flash XT1225 modem over XT1254/XT1250. I'm assuming you have XT1225, as you don't really say.
If you open up a sound recording app, and record audio, does the microphone work then? I know it's not just a microphone problem, since you also can't hear the caller, but I'm just trying to think of any issues.
If you have TWRP, the TRWP-flashable Brazil XT1225 Marshmallow modem is listed in this thread. IF you need XT1254, I can point you to another location.

Flash the clean modem file first. It's also in this thread, above. Then flash the modem. Flash both in TWRP.

Have you tried reflashing your modem?
The clean modem status was made by Quark dev @bhb27. I don't know if it works for other Motorola phones.

The only thing I can suggest is re-flashing stock image, then starting over if you want root or custom ROMs.

The LTE on my nexus5 is not working. I suspect it is the radio. I'd appreciate it if someone can:
1) Tell me how to check the radio version.
2) Point me to the latest radio image for the nexus 5.
My searches failed.
If someone has other ideas or advice, I'm all ears. I really like the size/feel/screen on the phone. I'd like to keep using it.
Steps tried:
- Try other sim cards, on different networks
- Verify that GSM/LTE are enabled via *#*#4636#*#*
- Reinstall the phone from scratch - TWRP, Cyanogenmod 13.0 (Android 6.0.1)
- Get another nexus5 with a bad screen, and swap all the parts other than the screen. (Unknown if LTE worked on the other phone - the odds of two being bad?)
- Reinstall the phone from scratch
The radio (i.e. baseband) and bootloader versions appear on the bootloader screen. Now, for the latest radio version, I suppose you can extract it from the last factory image. If it is of any help to you, my bootloader version is HHZ20h and the radio version is 2.0.50.2.29 and I have never faced a cell signal issue so far, and have never bothered to update the bootloader & radio. Searching this forum, I found that there are newer versions for bootloader & radio, but all the dl links for the radios are dead... So, now I'm as curious as you, about which is the latest radio version, and where to find it.
Good idea. No Joy. Any other ideas from the Forum?
Is there an easy way to test if the antenna is bad? (It is on the back cover, right?)
Details of the latest attempt:
Your bootloader and radio versions were newer, so I updated mine. The latest radio version appears to be one newer than what you have installed.
Get the updated bootloader and radio images.
- Go to: https://developers.google.com/android/images#hammerhead
- Download: https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/hammerhead-m4b30z-factory-625c027b.zip
- Extract:
bootloader-hammerhead-hhz20h.img
radio-hammerhead-m8974a-2.0.50.2.30.img
Flash them onto the phone which had a fresh cyanogenmod 13 (6.01 install)
$ fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-hammerhead-hhz20h.img
$ fastboot reboot-bootloader
$ fastboot flash radio radio-hammerhead-m8974a-2.0.50.2.30.img
$ fastboot reboot-bootloader
Everything returned OKAY.
Put in a SIM. Reboot the phone. No Joy.
