I recently unlocked my moto, installed twrp and aokp7.1. due to some reason, tried restoring backup from twrp but didn't unselect modem. During restoration my modem was wiped and the backup file didn't have modem backup. In the end it shows failed to mount modem, system or device busy. Now my phone keeps on showing the boot animation .
Mine is Indian version moto turbo xt1225
Please help.

Boot into TWRP. Connect USB cable to a computer and drag these files below over to your phone, preferably to the Download folder.
While still in TWRP, flash the @bhb27 "clean modem" file (just in case), then re-flash your XT1225 radio. Reboot your phone.

Thanks a lot. My phone is up & running. Can this modem cause any problem, as mine is an Indian version moto maxx and this one is for Brazil?

No, all the Moto XT1225 radios are interchangeable. Should not cause any problems. All the XT1225 have the same FCC ID, same radio bands. The only reason the India XT1225 was called "Moto Turbo" instead of "Moto Maxx" is there was some carrier there in India called Max or Maxx, and Motorola didn't want any confusion this phone was in any way tied to them.
I live in the U.S.A. and my wife and I have Puerto Rico and Mexico Moto Maxx XT1225 phones. At one point in 2015, I flashed both to India "Moto Turbo" firmware 5.0.2. (including radio). When I did that, both phones even stated "Moto Turbo" in the "About Phone" section in Settings. (India XT1225 had Lollipop a month before the other XT1225, so that's why I did it -- to get official Lollipop.) Everything worked fine, of course.
Then months later, I flashed CM 12.1 custom ROM over both, and for awhile kept the India XT1225 radio on both the Puerto Rico and Mexico Moto XT1225.
Then, sometime in 2016 I flashed Puerto Rico Lollipop radio over both (including the "Mexico"), just to see if there was any difference. There wasn't. Now I have this same @bhb27 Brazil Marshmallow radio flashed on both, on RR 6.x. ROM -- because it was the easiest way to update to Marshmallow radio.
If you wish, at some point you can download and re-flash "India" Marshmallow radio files via fastboot. (There's no TWRP version I can find.) But you really won't see any difference...
BHB27 Clean Modem File
For anyone else reading this thread...
I keep both the BHB27 Clean_modem_status.zip and the Marshmallow Moto XT1225 Radio/Modem Zip file in my internal memory download folder permanently, since I flash ROM updates very often. (There's also TWRP version of the XT1254 Marshmallow modem for Droid Turbo owners.)
You shouldn't need the radio zip file every time, but the BHB27 Clean_modem_status.zip file is an amazing and very useful tool. Until @bhb27 coded that, several Quark owners were complaining about GPS issues when installing custom ROM. It did seem to affect Droid Turbo XT1254 owners more than XT1225, and it didn't affect everyone. But, it was still a constant discussion point. Lots of solutions were offered -- I found TopNTP app helped tremendously (and I still recommend installing that app -- just be sure to enable the "survive ROM flash" setting so you dont have to keep re-installing it after ROM updates.).
But the only guaranteed workaround -- prior to this file -- was found to be:
flash back to stock
get a GPS lock
made a backup
then install custom ROM
then restore modem
...or something like that. Forgive me if I don't remember all the details. It was a hassle, but that was the solution.
Then, people started sharing their "good" modem TWRP backup files (which already had a GPS lock), that other people could "restore" via TWRP. That's an excellent example of the XDA community helping each other, and was a quicker way of getting to the same point -- but still not ideal.
The issue was when flashing a new ROM on this phone, the modem sometimes became "confused". On the new ROM, GPS wouldn't work!
THEN, @bhb27 coded this amazing app, which clearly and simply "cleans" the older modem data out. It basically clears the cache of the modem. That may not be a technical explanation, but that's the best way to understand it. BOOM! It SOLVED all the GPS lock problems! :good: When flashing a new ROM on this phone, you should probably also flash this file.
Now, when newbies come into the threads and say "I can't get a GPS lock. Please Fix!" we just roll our eyes because they haven't bothered to do even a basic search of "GPS" in the thread. This is a 2-year old phone (actually released late 2014) and we've had custom ROMs since early 2015. Development is VERY mature on this phone. You don't think we've solved something as basic as GPS? Please.
I flash this file every time I do a ROM update, although it's probably not necessary. It doesn't hurt, and can help prevent any modem/radio issues.
Right on @ChazzMatt, I flash this .Zip file on my xt1250 on Verizon all the time, even just dirty flashing an update.
Of course, thanks to @bhb27 for its availability.
Edit. Wrong post. Sorry

Try re-flashing the modem or even reflashing a different XT1225 modem. I've flashed Puerto Rico, India, and Brazil modems on my XT1225. They all work. Do NOT flash XT1225 modem over XT1254/XT1250. I'm assuming you have XT1225, as you don't really say.
If you open up a sound recording app, and record audio, does the microphone work then? I know it's not just a microphone problem, since you also can't hear the caller, but I'm just trying to think of any issues.
If you have TWRP, the TRWP-flashable Brazil XT1225 Marshmallow modem is listed in this thread. IF you need XT1254, I can point you to another location.

Yes I have XT1225, I'm from Mexico, guess it is mexican, and yeah, I can send voice notes in Telegram and everything is fine. So I just download the Modem .ZIP and flash it without WIPES and that's it or need another thing?

The only thing I can suggest is re-flashing stock image, then starting over if you want root or custom ROMs.

Hello,
For the better part of this evening I have been trying to flash Telus Moto G with a different ROM. I even unlocked the bootloader, but to no avail.
I keep getting the following errors when trying to flash bootloader, recovery and system:
hab check failed for boot
hab check failed for recovery
invalid PIV signed system image
(when trying to flash a ROM with three sparsechunks, sparsechunk.0 gives the error, two remaining flash correctly, the phone boots, but the phone is unusable (most of the menus and stuff is just not there)
I have tried GPE, same thing (wouldn't even boot).
Only thing that always works is flashing Telus firmware.
Is there ANY way to bypass this limitation?
Please help me!
same for me bro. I tried US retail and it didnt work. I didnt unlock bootloader so I went back to the telus one.
I dont get why you cant get it in if you unlock bootloader
anyways, I doubt there is a difference between these stock rooms. just saying..
There is a fundamental difference in that Telus version only has a few system languages, and doesn't have the ones I need.
could you root it, install cwm and than install custom rom?
Yes, I've finally managed to flash CWM and Cyanogenmod. Thanks for the tips!

Sweet! Good to hear.
Anyone found a way to install non-Telus stock FW or GPE on a Telus Moto G in the meantime? It appears Moto G losdt CM support, so I would like to get back to stock - but Telus version is not acceptable.

I've tried flashing the US and GB retail with no success. The result of the effort was a loss of radio antenna with no network connection. Flashing the Telus firmware repaired the antenna issue with no errors when flashing all the files. The issue seems to be the bootloader and leaves me wondering if it needs to be unlocked. I'm not desperate to have a retail version that I'm willing to void the warranty by unlocking the bootloader.
Hey guys, I ordered a boost mobile Moto G and it's arriving in a few days. I was wondering how would I go about converting it to GPE, and what does it entail? For example does conversion allow it to function correctly with working wifi, and to receive OTA updates directly from google, or would i have to manually flash lollipop roms for boost?
The first step is unlocking the bootloader which will void your warranty!
I am not sure if its possible to convert to GPE firmware with the Boost model.
I've tried to flash gpe on my xt1031, afterwards radio (calls, data, etc) weren't functioning, no matter what radio or baseband I flashed. It only worked once I went back to the stock boost ROM.
I've been searching for a way to do it for months, and have had little success.

Be thankful and grateful that you can unlock your bootloader, root, flash a custom recovery and flash roms. I had the xt1028 Verizon prepaid and none of that is possible if you're on 4.4.4 which my phone came with preinstalled. Phone is not eligible for bootloader unlock.

You can't flash any gpe rom on the boost variant if you use the radio. I've tried flashing modems but it just doesn't work with gpe on boost.

I would like to second that. Based on all of the posts I have read (a lot!) the gpe version is for gsm phones and won't work on cdma (boost).
I have a XT1034 that I put the wrong lollipop update on (I think it was for an XT1032), and that led to it having no sim card detected.
I finally got it back in a usable state by going back to 4.4.4 and flashing the radio files I found in this file. (Sorry still can't post links.)
"Fix Modem issues for XT-1034 Moto-G.zip"
Then it was still glitchy (screen issues), So I've applied the 5.02 Canada AWS firmware, and everything seems to work except that I only get H or H+ for a connection.
I've not gotten 3g. I'm on Straight Talk with an AT&T sim, and My daughter has the exact same setup, but with stock roms/etc.
She has no problem getting 3g.
My goal is having the USA Lollipop back on here, with the correct radio flashed.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

H/H+ is 3G, it's just that in America they only use the 3G icon.
If you want to restore back to USA firmware, flash this via fastboot https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6RNTe4ygItBQUN1SXJxYWtuY2M/view Instructions are here on how to do it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47820707#post47820707 When flashing the system sparcechunks keep note on the file name, it's named differently, so if you copy the command from the instructions it won't work because it's named differently on the zip.
After restoring to stock kitkat, update all the stuff on the playstore and then check for update, then you'll get the notification for lollipop. If you don't here is the OTA zip for lollipop, here is the Lollipop OTA for USA XT1034. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1zN8A3HtCVkdFF2b2dVU0hXUDQ/view?usp=sharing Copy it to your internal memory. Boot into stock recovery and follow the kitkat instructions to get the menu https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/97329/p/30,6720,9050 Select update from sdcard and select the ota zip and it will update to lollipop.
edit: I just noticed that the stock lollipop firmware for american xt1034 is available http://www.filefactory.com/file/149mdexndh9n/XT1034_FALCON-RETUAWS_5.0.2_LXB22.99-36_19_cid9_CFC_1FF.xml.zip You can skip installing kitkat and just flash the images via fastboot with the instructions I mentioned above.

Well I tried this first and it acted correctly, but never went past the unlocked bootloader screen. (I left it there for 15 mins or so.) So I did the downgrade to 4.4.4 again and was able to get into the os, and then copy the ota over and apply it using stock recovery.
Thank you very very much.
I've missed my Moto g.

I'm glad it worked! I think I know why your first attempt didn't work. There are 4 sparsechunk files in the zip and the link with the instructions only has commands for the first 3. You have have to copy the sparsechunk command again and change the number from 3 to 4 or .2 to .3 depending on how it's labelled in the zip.
Hi everyone,
First, thanks everyone for all the information I have found in this forum for the past few weeks.
Now my problem : I have a Moto G 4G XT1039 that keep losing signal randomly. The only way to get my signal back to call or receive sms seems to be a reboot of the phone.
I don't remember exactly when it started but I think it was around June. Until a month ago I never tried to root or flash my phone. I just used the official updates from Motorola. I live in France and the phone is perfect for me except this problem.
I read here and there that a lot of people seems to have the issue but I'm surprised nobody seems really pissed of.
I downgraded to 4.4.4 to see if it would solve my problem but it did not. I read that the signal loss could be caused by Android 4.4.2 so should I downgrade further ?
This weekend I flashed a nightly from CM 13, the problem is still here.
What can I do ? The problem seems to be related to the radio firmware, can I downgrade the radio firmware and keep a recent android or CM13 ?
For information my baseband version is m8926_309101.02.03.14r.
I'm not sure I post my problem in the good forum but it could help other people in my situation.
If someone has an idea....
Thanks
Firstly try the Stock ROM and Radio Firmware available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/4g-development/rom-stock-motorola-4g-lollipop-rom-t3142816 - follow flashing instructions to the letter - after this you can move on to CM13 if desired.
Well I have already done that, after I tried the 4.4.4 version.
I was on 5.1 then I downgraded to 4.4.4 then got back to 5.1 then tried CM 13.

Did you fastboot flash the Radio Firmware from that thread? Commands are in FAQ.
Yes I did. I event tried to flash the 5.1 radio firmware while still having the 4.4.4 android.
The baseband version I gave in my opening post is the last one for the EU region I believe.
Other Solutions to try:
1) Change SIM card / get a new SIM
2) Fastboot flash the Stock Factory Firmware Image for your phone - http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...falcon-factory-firmware-t3110795/post64203816
Thanks, I was going to order a new sim card to try this solution.
I already flashed the latest stock firmware last week but i will try again from scratch to be sure.
Provide fastboot logs (copy and paste command prompt) when flashing the firmware image. Fastboot may not provide errors, "okay" can mean total failure.
Hi,
Just to say that there is apparently no more signal loss with the CM13 nightly from 12/11. I hope it will last.
In the end I didn't flash stock firmware.
Thanks again for your suggestions, I will come back if the problem is back.

Hi! I have a few days with the phone and I'm dealing with the same issue. Just a question, if you flash r2 MM zip from 4pda with no additional modifications you get the whole mobile data function working (2G, 3G, LTE) but no PIN or pattern lockscreen, right?
Now, if you replace modem partition from 6.0.1, wouldn't it break some 4G capabilities due to different LTE classes?

When I flash r2 from 4pda I get just 2G and 3G but no LTE with working lockscreen, if I flash my modem partition from CM12.1 on top of it, I get LTE but it breaks the lockscreen.
My assumption is that since the r2 4pda is made for the russian model it removes the LTE band used in my country (Band 4) since the 6039Y doesn't support it, when I restore the modem partition from 5.1.1 I get band 4 support back, but apparently Lollipop radios break lockscreen on the Marshmallow version.
Since the 6039S supports band 4 and got Marshmallow I want to try if flashing the modem partition from it would give me both LTE and Lockscreen since it meets the two requirements I think I need.
This is all supositions from my part, I don't really know much about android development, but I won't be sure until I try and I'm willing to test and report back with results.
Which model do you own?

Ok. So we are on the same boat (6039A, Argentina, advanced user but not enough to be even a rookie developer ).
When I first flashed the r2 version I thought I haven't had LTE conection due to a non-supported area, but now I see that the problem comes from the russian baseband side.
So, back to the topic, is the modem partition from 5.1.1 the same as 5.0.2? As far as I see we don't have a 5.1 stock ROM for our device (or maybe I haven't seen to much).

We don't have stock 5.1.1 but we have a CyanogenMod 12.1 rom which is 5.1.1, I restored the modem partition from there, my guess is that stock 5.0.2 modem should work aswell. If you want I can upload the CM12.1 modem partition for you to try on the r2 version, it should give you LTE but break the lockscreen.

Ok, it would be great if you could.
I'll also check with stock modem partition from 5.0.2 (which I'm running now).

Holy crap, I just booted into 6.0.1 and I have both lockscreen and LTE. What I did was mix both modem partitions from CM12.1 and from Marshmallow and it seems to work.
I will test this to see if it actually works, and if it does I will make a thread explaning how to do it.

Congratulations! If your workaround is stable we can manage to include it in zip installer (with developer permission, obviously).
