Which Pixel should I buy if I want to root it? - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

I am looking to buy a pixel and root it. Is there anything I should look out for to insure I can get one that is rootable? Also once rooted, is it true you can't use apps like snapchat or netflix anymore?

Avoid Verizon's and EE, as for Snapchat and Netflix I don't use, maybe someone else will chime in or better yet, do a search here or google

EE?
I've found one locally that is an unlocked version and not a verizon version. He said it was fully up to date with latest android software though. Should I buy this one?

I don't give advice on whether you should buy it or not, I don't know you or your knowledge of android phones.
You can get burned buying a used phone if you don't know what to look for.
Swappa can be a safer place for buying a phone.

Wi-fi Xoom; Is it a "Google Experience" Tablet?

I'm looking to buy one tomorrow but I'd like to know if the updates are coming straight from Google or from Motorola?
I dont want to have the same frustrating experience as with my Milestone so this is definitely a deal breaker for me.
I searched on google and all I found were old january posts speculating about this subject.
Thanks!

i think today google announced..or something that you will have like 18months of updates on all honeycomb +, i guess its a good bet on the xoom. Sorry about my english
It is absolutely a Google Experience tablet. It is the device which Android developers are developing the platform on. The update 3.1 was released by Google today and I'm already running it on my WiFi Xoom.
seeem to be on their website http://www.google.com/phone/detail/motorola-xoom-with-wi-fi with the

Yeah it's the honeycomb tester.. can't get much more google xp than that.
and theres definitely no moto bloat to worry about
US version ONLY. Non-US version will be different story.at least for UK version, They have different firmware and even have some kind of MotoBulr service on it.Also the Android Build number look like totally differnet than vanilla HC.

Yes
Edit: just tried again. Didn't have the option. I'm on Aokp. Thought it worked in the past. I'm on Wi-Fi only right now maybe that makes a difference.

i am akop m6 number 5 i heard u needed "You must be using your carrier’s network (3G/4G), not wireless.
You must purchase from Google Play on your device, not on the web.
You must be in good standing with your carrier and have not exceeded your carrier’s cap on monthly spending.
Your device/service plan must be opted in for premium content purchases.
Your device must be provisioned for use with direct carrier billing."
i am not sure about the last two also i have over 1gb data useable. My plan is the 2gb used to be 5gb as my phone is home alot http://support.google.com/googlepla...topic=1046718&hlrm=en&answer=167794&ctx=topic

Need to know if this is an ok deal or not.

I just got out of my sprint contract with my EVO LTE(the cancelled me because I roam roo much at work) . I was looking at other options as I need a working phone soon and I found I can flash this phone to page plus via some dude on craigslist. He says he charge me 60 to do all the flashy stuff, but it's iffy for this phone or he'll trade me my EVO LTE for a RAZR maxx hd flashed no cost to me. He says it's the maxx hd but I'm 90ish percent sure that phone hasn't been released yet.
These are the pics he sent of what he says are maxx hd's, I can't tell which they are...

To be honest, I wouldn't deal with anyone on sites like craigslist let alone if I don't even know what I'm looking at in the pictures the person sent me =/
whatever you choose to do, stay safe and be careful
as far as i know from my experiences you shouldn't trust anyone in the 21st century but the choice is yours of course. but i wouldn't believe him and make the deal
Thanks for your guys advice. I decided not to and am now looking at tmobile service.

Okay, for starters, Android Pay can't be used if you're rooted. CM13 comes prerooted, so yeah.
Uber just announced they were changing to Android Pay. This means anyone with a rooted phone will no longer be able to use it.

I know that purenexus layers works with Android pay. Something to do with cmte

Yep, it won't work on rooted devices, for security reasons. That's the message you get.
Lyft is better anyway lol. But yeah what the others have said. I've heard that there's some luck with Hide My Root apps but I haven't been able to verify this.

Bump: Does anyone know if the CM Crew are prioritizing a fix for Android Pay? I can live w/o Uber, but if any of my critical financial apps start rejecting CM, its back to a unrooted phone for me!

I don't think it was much of an update. I was hoping it was 7.1.1, but no. It did help my battery though. Seems to last longer.

Yup it works (using this method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...eres-how-rooted-nougat-s7-edge-g935t-t3567502).
Just happened to need to reset everything yesterday and got all the newest stuff hours after it was posted. Just been trying to figure out which crapware I can remove without screwing up the phone. lol
