upgrading baseband and modem? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering if anyone is willing to post a few steps what exactly I need to rip the baseband and modem from a stock Rom. I've asked several times before on how to... most people cooked and sent me a zip... let it slide just because I was thankful for that much. It's more difficult for me because I'm limited to doing everything off my phone... even downloading the files

There are many guides on S6 forum. Just search for it (use search option or even no xD).

Yeah not really. Most posted is what has already been prepped. So files are readily prepared for download and flash. For the modem, sure theres the "modem.bin" file but what about the binaries for flashing via TWRP. I can see one is a script but I don't know what the other includes because I can't read it.
Nevermind making a flashable baseband.
The posts I've already searched include links to specific downloads and methods only pertaining to Odin, not how to create the file.
I guess this question is for the more experienced. My actual intended question still stands.

Is there a list of tutorials Captivate/Android?

I need very basic help with what appears to be quite simple to everyone else. For example, I was told I needed to flash a different modem and I have no idea how to do that. I tried searching the forums with "flash modem" and got hundreds of threads containing those words but not any telling me how to do it. I Googled and Binged but got nowhere. I hate asking other members for help all the time; but, without tutorials, that's all I can do.
Try this one out this really helped me. Flash the Captivate.

Thanks for both of your replies; but, I guess I'm just dumb. Because, as I read through the information available on both links, I could see instructions on how to flash a new ROM, which I have done with help from another member, but I don't see how to flash just a modem, or kernel, to an existing ROM on the phone. Certainly you don't have to follow the same procedure to flash a modem as you do an entire ROM. Or, do you?

its simple. if you know how to get into clockworkmod recovery, you install zip from sd, point to the modem.zip file that you downloaded, and run it. that part is the same as flashing a rom, but you dont have to wipe/odin/or anything like that.
and it takes literally seconds to flash it
Thank you to each of you for your help.
These are the best tutorials that I have found

How to return Inspire 4G to the way it was when I bought it, stock rom?

Did some searching and found a page using Google that linked to this file, RUU_Ace_Cingular_US_1.80.502.3_Radio_12.39.60.19_26.06.04.06_M_release_166557_signed.exe. It's my understanding that all I have to do is run the file and treat it as though it was something like the Odin one click method. What I want to know is the following:
- Is what I have the correct file?
- Are there any other methods to return the phone to stock should I have any warranty issues?
I appologize if this has been covered, I did search and wasn't able to find out any concrete advice.
well if you have s off then you have to run the s on tool.
The way i did it:
used the bubby one click to flash the downgraded rom. thenn in terminal, i typed these certain commands (i forgot what they were but i will get back to you on it). that enables s on. then i flashed the stock att non rooted rom in hboot. i will find the link on those in a little. as far as the ruu above, i bel;ive that it is the correct one.
Thanks a ton, if you have a link to the steps that need to be taken that would be great as well. All and any help is appreciated though.

Flashing and Custom ROMS

Hey, everyone. So I've been trying to figure out how to put ROM's on my Rogers Samsung Infuse 4G. I apologize if this frustrates anyone, I am usually pretty adept at figuring tech things out, however I've been browsing the web and these forums for about three days now and I am so utterly confused that it's beyond frustrating. Every time I manage to find a closely related thread or question I end up with dead links or down some tangent to alternate threads which in the end leaves me with more questions and confusion about how to actually do this. There is never a definitive "do this" thread. So, I've reached the point where I had to come on here and create my own thread.
Here's what I've done to this point;
I tried to root my phone using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197248 that thread. I don't know what happened but it somehow failed and bricked my phone. I was able to get it back up and running using the Odin Stock w/root in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193927 and that's where I sit now.
I've gathered that I need to get CWM and a modded recovery file to be able to flash with a ROM and that's where the problems begin.
I downloaded ROM manager and ES File Explorer to find and rename my recovery file, only to find there is no recovery file in my Bin folder.
From there I've read just about every thread possible and this has lead me to just be more confused, mostly because I can't find many threads pertaining to the specific model I have and I'm paranoid as hell to brick my phone by doing/installing something incompatible.
My phone is a Rogers Samsung 4G Infuse. Model SGH-I997R. Using GB 2.3.3 and I gather my baseband version is relevant as well, it's I997R UXKG3.
If someone could walk me through how on earth to sort this out, or point me in the direction of some active and actually useful threads, that would be amazing!

it makes no difference if you are on att or rogers if you are trying to flash a custom rom.
after you flash, the only difference is the APN - needs to be set to rogers.
use any of the stock rooted packages in the dev section
use odin or heimdall
jscott30 has odin packages avail to get you the cwm you need
i had a uclb3 stock with recovery also
alternatively, you can just use one of the custom gb kernels via odin or heimdall..flash the kernel to get cwm and flash what ever you want
advice:
search and read

I have the problem flashing my friend's i997r, when i do i it reboots into recovery n never goes into the actual os. Phones goes to the galaxy s cyanogenmod screen and boots into recovery each time.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 4

Please help, if you can. Need a copy of stock rom to flash.

Sorry if there's somewhere this is already posted, but I can't seem to find a stock rom of 6045 model anywhere on the site (or at least one that I can flash through twrp). If anyone can provide a copy of their stock rom a one, that would be greatly appreciated.
I derped my rom and not I can't the the incoming interface when someone is calling.... and I can't make phone calls cause I somehow deleted that app.

Easiest solution is to use the Mobile Q software to reset your phone to factory condition. Start here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/idol-3/general/idol-3-mobile-upgrade-app-download-t3182517
Failing that if you just have to have a twrp backup.....

Questions to the appropriate thread.
Thank you so much for the help man. I tried the first link you pointed out but I had issues getting it to work. Now with the second link I saw this before was unsure about the links. Are they actually zip version of the rom I can just flash or do I have to turn then into a zip? Not really sure what to with it, lol. Thanks a again for all your help. I really appreciate it.

The instructions in the first couple of posts explain everything you are asking. If you search, I'm sure someone has also written step by step to getting the Mobile Q software working.

I need help with upgrading - Samsung Galaxy W (SGH-T679M)

I'm searching these forums, the web, every single website, and I still haven't came across a solution. Cyanogen, clockworkmod, they don't want to cooperate. I really am desperate now.
I'm trying to find a way to easily run a ROM on my phone, or maybe just install it. I'm aiming for Kitkat, but I have no idea how, as almost all of the posts on this forum contain broken links. Please, someone help!!!
Alex
Tell me about your fone.
Whats your skill set, as in do you KNOW how to unlock bootloader? Do you know how to root?
Firmware creators are too busy creating firmware. And fixing Bugs.
If your a noob, I can handle that, in effect, I need more information, because all those broken links are irelevant when what you actually need is found in millions of posts here..
The very reason developers dont answer

Okay.
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy W. It's model number is SGH-T679M and it is currently running Gingerbread.
And so I wanted to change that version because... Gingerbread is unsupported, right? So I landed on this forum first, trying out all the ways that I could, and most of them lead me to dead links as I said.
So I went on different web pages, the Android subreddit, all that. Ended up finding this zip file supposedly containing KitKat or something earlier.
I tried to install it how they told me. Already knew how to go into recovery mode, then it told me to go to the apply update from sd card (used the internal storage instead because i could) and it said the MODEL NUMBER WAS WRONG.
It was for the Samsung Exhibit II, model I8150, and that makes no sense. Because they are LITERALLY THE SAME PHONE.
Thought this was gonna be simple but it was being rough on me. This is why I need help, because I honestly don't know what to do anymore. It is so confusing.

Then say if you can handle the work, nothing more. If you are up for it, your best here
