Moving to Honor 8 from lg G4 (is it worth? and why?)

Hi all, whould be wise to move from a g4 to an honor8? Who wins in terms of:
-Camera (autofocus quality and speed and noise on low light pics),
-Browsing Speed,
-Updates over time,
-Screen quality (i changed 3 g4 and all had had screen issues like lines ect),
-Software Features (es gestures, shortcuts etc etc),
-Active battery runtime and charge speed,
-Heat (i've read honor 8 get hot in camera mode, dunno if it's solved with nowdays updates),
-Build quality and unit's faulty rate (not properly happy with the g4, moving over the screen issue, the back cover doesn't match well on the right bottom edge and remains half mm open)
It's going in the hands of a non-power user~

Hey, i did exactly that because my G4 died, so i got a replacement one sold it and got an Honor 8.
Basically it was worth it, the device is faster, has a MUCH higher build quality. But ill just answer your questions (Just my thoughts however feel free to make your own judgement)
Camera (autofocus quality and speed and noise on low light pics) - Honor 8!
Browsing Speed - The Kirin feels faster - Honor 8 (but thats a close one)
Updates over time - Unclear, G4 still on MM, H8 still on MM
Screen quality (i changed 3 g4 and all had had screen issues like lines ect) - You said it, Honor 8 wins bigly.
-Software Features (es gestures, shortcuts etc etc) - Honor 8
-Active battery runtime and charge speed - Honor 8 (But you need to use the Huawei USB Type C Charger else it wont Fast-Charge!!)
-Heat (i've read honor 8 get hot in camera mode, dunno if it's solved with nowdays updates) - Nothing noticed, G4 went hot too
-Build quality and unit's faulty rate (not properly happy with the g4, moving over the screen issue, the back cover doesn't match well on the right bottom edge and remains half mm open)

I came from Ham2, link in my signature and I feel like the battery life doesn't last as long as my previous device. But with that being said, the battery size was definitely bigger on my Ham2 than Honor 8. But I am a super heavy user and the Ham2's battery should be shot by now, but it seems like the Ham2 still last longer than the Honor 8. I haven't used the G4 before, but I was consider it before I bought the Honor 8. Specs wise Honor 8 wins hands down over both of those phones.
ktwo, how is the battery life on yours? Can you go a whole day without it? With that being said, the Quick charge is amazing. I am still getting use to how fast it charges. I would recommend this device and no need to answer your questions as ktwo did an amazing job at that.

I have used the LG G3 and G4 for quite a while and am very happy with the hardware on both. Fantastic cameras! My only frustration was LG's lack of upgrades.. to counter this I recently installed crDroid on them both and they are once again running superbly, on Nougat
I received an Honor 8 just a few days ago and have set it up with Google Now Launcher to look very much like all of my Android devices. It looks very nice (the Saphire Blue one) is about the same size as my Nexus 5X, it is fast, my first photos are sharp, but I wouldn't drop my G4 for the Honor 8, perhaps because I have become so used to the G4
You do get a lot for the money though..

my G4 was sent back for warranty repair because of the motherboard issue. It was gone for 2 months. Bought a Honor 8 as replacement.
It's back now, but I am still with the Honor 8, basically not missing the G4...

I have a Honor 8 but am really impressed with its camera, low noise level... The Fast charging is awesome, speed is also good

I know it's already been decided, but I also moved from the G4 to the H8.
Camera: G4 (I wish it weren't so! I've tried so many camera apps, and almost 50% of the time, the images are blurry on my H8. How can I check if EIS is working / on?)
Browsing speed: H8 likely due to the 8 real cores. I would have terrible stuttering in any kind of app.
Updates over time: same, though H8 seems to win this via partnership with XDA.
Screen quality: Both for different reasons. G4 has higher res which is noticeable, but really 1080p on a 5.2in on the H8 is a great sweet spot.
Software features: H8 seems to have more practical features. Stock / CM still wins though.
Battery: H8 hands down for both SoT and charge speed.
Heat: H8, aluminum really helps.
Build quality: H8.
ROMs: H8 due to the XDA partnership, G4 (H811) was still locked.
All in all, H8 is a really great buy. On Black Friday, it was totally nuts at ~$265 or something like that.

camera is really my only doubt about the h8...in every review i watch it's stated be over-average, both on high and low light. The only real issue it does have is the lack of an ois, and i dont know if it's really going to impact a lot on the pictures or on the videos quality. I rly wish i could try it before changing my issued g4.

on gsmarena comparison, regarding the photo samples, i notice a little blurrier, less noisy, less contrasted pics on the g4 especially on good light...h8 seems to perform better on low light and to catch more details....but the ISO are different and i'm no expert, so i cannot rly judge.

Camera - I saw it can go either way, I've produced really great images with the Honor 8. But it does lack OIS and the G4 can take images in RAW so if you edit photos you can keep your G4 for that.
Browsing Speed - I would say even. Depends on your connectivity.
Software Updates - Right now, Honor 8. I'm already running a Nougat beta on my Honor 8, but then again the G4 is a year old phone.
Screen Quality - Honor 8 and G4 are both crispy.
Software Features - I would say Honor 8. With the Android Nougat beta, it came with a lot of the Stock nougat features like multiwindow.
Battery - I would say they're equal.
Heat - Honor 8 is better. It rarely heats up, even if it does it isn't as bad as the G4 heating up.
Build Quality - Honor 8. Materials are more high quality.

After breaking my G3 screen, I decided to look for a large (5.5 screen) and rootable phone. Since I was pretty happy with G3, I decided to give G4 a try and settled for used, unlocked t-mobile variant (H811). I must say that G4 is unimpressive (bulky and not very responsive) and the ROM support is segmented and not as good as G3.
Luckily, I ended up getting a series of bad refurbished phones (bad charging port, bad GPS, wrong variants). I think unless LG do something useful rather than useless gimmickry (basically just played with back covers for G4 and G5) the Gx line is dead.
With that in mind, I went for the smaller (5.2) and not-yet-root-able honor 8 because of the BF $240 deal. The biggest problem I had was to migrate system and apps settings due to the lack of titanium backup (actually why this is supported by Android itself). This turn out to be not too bad. I read that the EMUI is not android like but that difference is small comparing that of android versions or vendors differences. If only I could find a simple way to invoke the menu (not navigation pane) key for some really old apps, I would be very happy.
One more thing that irritated me on G3/G4 is that the knock code unlock is often hit-and-miss for me unless I turn off the screen first, on certain area of the screen, and do it slowly. All that frustration is gone now with honor 8's fingerprint sensor and it also keep the screen alive when i leave the finger there - and the unlock works even when the finger is upside down or sideways.

What do you mean? it's super easy to root.

I'm selling my LG V10 to my colleague and likely to get the Honor 8 next because I miss the smaller form factor and lighter feel. V10 is a great phone, even for 2016, but it's very bulky with a case. My only concern with Huawei is the software, I had a horrible experience with the Honor 5X software wise, even though I know my way around Android very well. So I'm looking to see if CM14.1 will be available for the 8, but I'm afraid it won't have the same camera quality, which is usually the case due to proprietary drivers. (Had similar experience with many other phones.)
The other option is to upgrade to the OnePlus 3T, but I really want to go small this time. I don't need fast phones or latest specs anymore, just a very good camera. Pixel is out of the question because I can't justify spending more than about $400 for phones anymore (especially without microSD) since there are so many good values out there. I might consider a Pixel if they have a very good deal with Google Fi.

I agree. I won't be shelling out big money for the latest and greatest anymore with these companies pumping out high quality affordable devices. Btw, I had the pixel, I'd take the Honor 8 over it any day.

I would choose between Honor 8 and OnePlus 3T. To be honest i wanted the OP3T very very much but i finished buying the H8.
If you want good 3D performance for gaming,decent camera and aluminium build go for OP3T.
If you want a fcking beautifull design,a very fast phone in daily use,decent camera but you dont play to much graphics intensive games go for H8.
I cant make a difference between this 2,both are amazing smarthones but let's say something more.
H8 is not a phone to throw,i think even a little drop would crack some glass and it's very very slippery. A case and a tempered glass is recommended. But we didnt forgot the OP3T ? Why i didnt get it ? Come one,on the site it's says "Delivered whithin 9 days"... I think they wanted to say 9 months but let's forget that. The other problem is that a lot of people are saying that is better to dont get a device with snappdragon 821 because drains battery faster. After all it's an amazing phone,but the kirin 950 runs faster than snap 821 in real test. The battery it's fine too,i get every time like 5-6h SoT and i'm ok with that. But i have only one problem with,the zoom,dont even think to take a photo or a video with zoom. I hope you understand what i tryed to say and i hope this will help you 👍

If you can pay and wait months for the phone go get the OP3T.
I can't say which camera is better,you can look on youtube reviews.

Just go on their facebook page and see how lots of people are complaining about the delivery time. Some bought the phone in the first day of launch and they are still waiting for it.

This was a difficult choice for me as well. I had OnePlus in the past, one of the thing that annoyed me most them were various bugs in their firmware, although I can't comment how they are doing now with OxygenOS.
To me OnePlus 3T is overall a better device for consumption. Bigger AMOLED screen and very fast performance with lots of rams for both apps and games. Also lots of custom roms support.
In term of camera I think it depends on what you use it for. The 3T will clearly be better for video recording since it has 4K recording and OIS. Although it's 16MP front camera seems to be a downgrade compared the 8MP on the original 3, because of much smaller pixel size letting in less lights.
To me the Honor 8 is better for still shots because of the larger pixel size and the dual camera which really help with dynamics. The Honor 8 can decent photos late in the day and gets really sharp with macroshots.
I think you only pick the Honor 8 if you want specific things from it. Like the smaller size, microSD support and the good camera for photos, those were more important factors to me than performance. On the software size, Huawei have lots to improve, but Nougat version is coming out in Feb.

In my opinion the Honor 8 is an excellent phone. As said before there is always a trade off with any phones you'll ever consider. After having my Honor 8 for the past 2 months or so here are my impressions of it so far.
The camera on the Honor 8 is excellent for still photos and does fairly well in low light shots because of the monochrome sensor.
One concern I've seen many reviewers commenting on was the fact that the Honor 8 has a 1080p display. Even though it isn't 1440p the display is crisp and shows no pixelation. The screen on default color settings has a bit of a blue hue to it but that can easily be changed in the settings to a warmer more seemingly accurate color profile.
The Kirin processor is an excellent CPU, very efficient and performs well. The GPU will suffice for I'd probably 99% of the games available for Android. It also comes with a nice 4GB of RAM and I haven't had many issues with it needing to reload recently opened apps.
Although Huawei skinned Android with their EMUI it really isn't the worst UI I've seen on a phone. Though, if you do get the Honor 8 then I highly recommend updating to the Nougat beta. Now, one of the most impressive aspects of this phone however is the fingerprint scanner. It's one of the quickest and most accurate I've ever used. I don't think any phone that has a fingerprint scanner can compete with the Honor 8's.
My previous phone was a Galaxy S7 and one thing I have to say is that my S7 much like most Samsung phones in the past have so many gimmicky features that I find useless. Unlike the S7 though the Honor 8 in this aspect has a wide variety of actually useful features. One of those features is the Smart key which is a button apart of the fingerprint scanner. You can set it to open apps, turn on flashlight, camera, etc.
Overall, much like the vast majority of people who have bought the Honor 8 I'm extremely satisfied with the phone.

Honor 8 is cheaper too, you can get one for less than $300.

There is a way to upgrade to latest beta without any boot unlocking/rooting/wiping your data/etc.
Haven't encountered any issues on the beta and it's even more fluid, functional and beautiful than EMUI 4.1.

Then go with the 3T, as honor 8 have poor development. (1+ released all the necessary files for the development of the 3T)

But Honor 8 is more beautiful and better camera...

Worth the price increase over a 6X / alternatives

Mentioned this in the 6X forum, but figured I'll ask here, too.
I need a phone for travelling. My main phone is an iPhone 6S, but I want something a little cheaper and with dual SIM support so I can use my normal number with a another SIM whilst abroad. Having used Android way before iPhone, and owning a Shield Tablet and TV, figured it'd be a nice way to get back into Android.
I returned a OnePlus 3T last month because, although good, I didn't like the camera.
So, I'm looking for a budget device, that has a decent spec (occasional gaming) and pretty good camera, fingerprint scanner and possibly NFC for Android Pay. USB-C and fast charge would be nice.
I've been looking at the WileyFox Swift 2 which is about £180. Snapdragon 430, 3GB RAM, fingerprint scanner, NFC, USB-C and quick charge. Low res screen (720), slower CPU and 'okay' camera. Gorilla glass.
£40 more is the 6X, EU version has all of the above, but no USB-C, terrible screen quality in terms of durability and no oleohobic coating. Micro USB. Not sure on CPU performance.
Or the best of the bunch, the Honor 8. Only it's £180 more than the 6X.
Is it worth the price over the other 2, or is there something else I can look at. Xiaomi's seem good, but lack LTE 800mhz / band 20 and no NFC for the global versions of the Redmi Note 4, which ships in March.

The only thing I can say is that the Honor 8 is an amazing device, I got mine for 325€ during a sale and I haven't regretted it...
The camera is amazing! It is so much better than my old Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, and it can shoot really sharp images (In good lightning)
However if there isn't that much light, images will become a little grainy (As on most smartphones)
Then we have the software... I almost got the Honor 7 in 2015 but I ended up not buying it because of the software (EMUI). But since I got such a great deal on the Honor 8 I decided to actually try it out and I must say EMUI 4.1 which I got the phone with was a lot different from my previous Android experience (Cyanogenmod 13) but it so many good features built in.
And today I got the EMUI 5 update and I must say, it's a lot closer to AOSP and I like it
Also this phone is very fast!
If you can get this phone for under 400€ then it's a great deal! I don't know that much about the other phones mentioned but I really recommend the Honor 8! Hope this helps you decide, if you have any questions regarding the Honor 8 feel free to ask

Got myself upgrade from galaxy note 3.
I thought it was fast but honor 8 is faster in all aspects.

I've ordered one, should be here today. Couldn't decide between this and he Lenovo P2, but there's an issue with the mic and the camera isn't as good. Looking forward to testing it today

Huh? I didn't say it wasn't good enough. Everything other than the camera and mic quality was perfect.
For example. I took a photo of my dog as he was barking for attention, with both my 6S and the 3T. The 6S could capture the photo, the 3T pic was blurred. The only way to remedy this was to use manual mode and increase the shutter speed, and even then, I couldn't use flash. Mic quality in wasn't outstanding in Whatsapp etc.

Torn between the Oneplus 6 and Huawei P20 pro

I have a 2.5 year old Nexus 5x and am seriously thinking about getting a new phone. I've narrowed it down to two choices.
The Oneplus 6 (8gb/128gb) that I could get for around 550€ with the student discount. The phone is everything I ever wished for, except for the camera, which I fear might be a downgrade from Nexus 5x and the not so good customer service.
The other one is Huawei p20 pro, which I could get for 570€ from my carrier. It is a great phone, but I really dislike the EMUI. I was not very impressed with the camera (I've seen some mixed reviews from people). Hardware is amazing, but I really dislike their postprocessing (the oversharpening and oversaturated colours) and I've read that gcam port is probably unlikely because of the Kirin processor. I also don't know how Huawei phones hold out long term (speed, lagging, software updates...).
I plan to keep the phone for 2-3 years. Things that are important to me are stock software and I also want a good camera (at least on par with my nexus 5x). I don't game and I mostly use the phone for calling, texting, listening to music, taking pictures and browsing the internet. It is important to me that the phone stays fast and doesn't lag throught it's lifetime and that it gets enough software updates.
Any insight would be appreciated.

I'm having both of them, and boy.. You can't imagine how much I hate EMUI. It's a nice phone, I rly like the Twilight color with the Black frame (switched the Backcover) but it's a pain to flash, stock EMUI looks like **** and overall I'm just enjoying my OP6 way more then I do the P20 Pro. The Camera ain't that bad, but compared to the P20 Pro it's quality is just poor. But that's a thing I can safely survive with.

Had a P10 Pro and EMUI is simply horrible. I put it up against my 5t and the 5t won. I also recall reading that they no longer allow you to get an unlock code for the bootloader.

I have both devices as well. The camera on the p20 pro is definitely knock out, but if you value software experience at all, you'll hate it. EMUI is a clunky mess. Updating the device is a pain, it's really heavy handed with closing background apps (Android messages for web won't run consistently, for example) and in general, it's ugly imo.
I carry the oneplus 6 each day because I enjoy using it. I have been switching sims each weekend when I value pictures of my kids, etc. Ultimately, it'll find it's way to eBay.

Try selling on Swappa. I've sold 6 phones though them in the last year and much better than eBay. I think I sold every one of my phones in less than a week.

Emui is not the end of the world. If you dislike it I would pick the OnePlus device. Btoh have pros and cons though. Huawei latest flagships don't have the slowdown like samsungs. So you can get the bells and whistles plus a consistent experience. Most importantly comparable battery with all the extras.
Like most Chinese oem's they all want to be apple/Samsung.
OnePlus is stockksh on a 1080p panel with the best hardware a available. So of course it's fast. Average device across the board. Biggest pro is extra hour of sot vs most phones(heavy user). Root and dev community.
Huawei will not be giving out bootloader codes after July(google actual date) but stock Android is available for a good majority of devices if interested.

op6 > p20 pro
my p20 pro got sluggish AF a month after usage.
op6 remains fast as day 1

I've seen videos of severe scrolling lag in basic apps like contacts on p20. It seems like EMUI has some issues it needs to work out first.
I just sold my p20 after using it for just a few hours LTE speeds were slower (55mpbs vs OP6 pulling 78mbps). As well as a bug utilizing the navbar on the device was buggy. When you enable navbar, it doesn't disable the fingerprint sensor from acting like a home button....so you have two home buttons side by side.

I would like to add that the costumer service is incredible (at least if you are a European citizen). I was never a fan of Samsung's/Huaweis aftersale support since it took me once 3 weeks to change the display of an SG S6.
Changing the display and the back cover of the OP3 costed me approximately 130€ with free DHL Express shipping. It took 3 working days until it was in GER again. I shipped it on Monday(early) and received the repaired smartphone on Wednesday evening (express courier).
For the software part: You will have 2 major updates and 36 months security updates (check your for reference: https://www.google.de/amp/s/www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-software-maintenance-schedule/amp/ )
Google port and custom roms is a big plus for the OP6. Camera is more then decent, it won't produce pictures like the Pixel 2, but the white balance / colour profile is pretty good ( maybe a bit to satured reds/orange - if you want to be very picky).
Overall i would go for the OP6 anytime.

I've owned a Huawei Mate 9 Pro, an Huawei Mate 10 and an Honor View 10. This must tell you that EMUI isn't as bad as all that. It isn't really.
The cameras and the camera software are outstanding. They even put my current Samsung S9+ to shame.
My concerns were :
Software updates - not too frequent, plus they like to 'authorise' a device for an update. Unlike OP where you can just use a VPN and get the update regardless of where you are, here you have to wait for authorisation or 'pay' and get the update from Funky Huawei.
I found on occasion, that despite some settings, things like some background apps were being killed or frozen. Stuff like Android Wear or the ThreeInTouch Wifi app. Some widgets wouldn't update. I don't think, going forward that Huawei are going to let you unlock bootloaders.
If you value a simpler OS that is updated and easy to root, unlock the bootloader and camera is secondary - get the OP.
If you adore having excellent photos, then get the P20 Pro - you won't regret it.

If the only thing concerning you about the OP6 is the camera (in comparison to 5X) - having both devices I can reassure you OP6 camera is miles better than Nexus 5X. And I wouldn't suggest buying Huawei to anyone. I think the oneplus offers the most nexus like software experience between all the OEM's right now

I can't speak about the P20 but I had a Mate 10 Pro and I sold it as I just didn't like EMUI at all. Compared to OOS it's just bad.

You'll better software support on the OnePlus 6. Huawei's software support track record isn't great. P20 Pro probably won't see Android P till Early 2019. OnePlus are offering Android P Betas right now.

From the comparisons I've seen online. The OnePlus 6 is faster, more RAM, camera is pretty even with both winning over the other in different situations.
The OS is great superior over EMUI and you will get update after update with OnePlus. The development community is far superior and of course insane battery with the fastest charging available with OnePlus dash charging.
I have the OnePlus 6 obviously, but faster phone, faster charging, stock like OS great camera and better support with updates and now OnePlus has come out and confirmed... 2 years OS updates and 3 YEARS security updates. It's a no brainier in my opinion.

What After adding to Huawei blacklist Trump that big screen cell phone would be good to buy. I didn't want to buy a Huawei because I'd much rather have an unlocked bootloader, but for me, the big screen, active pen, big battery, and fast cpu are too important to give up.
If you don't mind a slower CPU and no pen, but still want the huge screen, go with the Mi Max series.
If you want the pen, go with the Samsung Note 9.
I you just want an overall good phone, then there are plenty of other options depending on your priorities.
But I'd stick with the Mate 20 X. We shouldn't be affected that much. I'd guessing there will still be software updates for next year or so. I just bought mine 2 weeks ago and don't regret it at all.

ZenFone 6!! Looks promising.

Actually i would go for zenfone as first choice, then mi max and in last place this could be samsung note series, depends on what battery will be in 10 release.

I'm thinking about the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom, nice looking phone with full flat screen/no notch, camera upgrade or the Nubia Red Magic 3 with a 90Hz screen and also a 5000mAh battery. I now that that both are 6.65 inch and smaller then the Mate 20 X, but i hide the notch from the begin, so i think the difference wil not be huge.
The ZenFone 6 is a no go for me, because it doesn't have a amoled screen. I really don't want a new phone without it.

Yeah I am in the same boat...I mean already the Mate 20 x looks like a Hobbit compared to where I was coming from mediapad X2 and Sony Z3 Tablet Compact so I am having a hard time adjusting to the much smaller size but of course, the hardware itself is WAY above both of those phablets I had before.

All of these other phones are much narrower and smaller than the 20 X. A friend of mine wanted to try the OP7 Pro and we went to T-Mobile yesterday and he bought one to use along side his 20 X but after a day he said it's probably going back as it's just way too small. The camera isn't as good and the battery life isn't even close to the 20 X. My advice would be to keep the 20 X until another manufacturer decides to make a phone as large as the 20 X.

But the OP7 Pro looks smaller because it has curved glass, what i really don't like.

I still think it's all going to blow over and in a few months the wotsit in a wig and china will come to some sort of agreement, somewhat annoying that Donald making a decision like this affects us non Americans!
But, if the worst happened, as long as the play store etc was ok then I'd probably just carry on and keep using the Mate 20 X, Android P works fine for me so I can live with the phone staying as it is for another 12 months or so.
The only tempting part will be when the Pixel 4 and Note 10 are released and seeing what they are bringing with them, but they'd have to offer something ridiculously special which i doubt they will do

The OP7 Pro also has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio which is skinnier than the Mate 20 X's 18.7:9 and the crappy curved glass doesn't help. It sucks with phones when you live in the US. Not a lot of Global devices support all the US LTE bands.

Please don't get me wrong : I am by no means a Huawei/Honor fan.

But let's face it : what other manufacturer offer a display that is close or above 7" ?
Answer here is really simple : there are only 2.5 manufacturers doing this :
- Xiaomi with the mi Max 3 ;
- Honor with the Note 10 and 8x Max ;
- Huawei with the Mate 20x.
Compare the 20x with the mi Max 3 and the Honor 8x max is of course not a question. They're simply not playing in the same league.
One may say whatever he wants about the Kirin SoC, but comparing a Kirin 980 with e snapdragon 636 is just not fair.
And comparing an IPS display with an OLED one isn't a fair comparison either.
So that leaves the Honor Note 10.
But it may have the same issues as Huawei. about Android.
And to make things clear : the developlment of Android has been halted to Huawei.
But :
- that doesn't mean that the past is getting rid off ; so if the phone is working right now, it will continue to work right after...
- Huawei still has access to the free source aosp and has enough power to continue to offer some updates based on that. And honestly : who is buying Huawei for the frequent updates ? You want a phone that is updated constantly ? There's only one manufacturer to go : Xiaomi... monthly updates for all their phones.
Just my own thoughts and expressing a personal opinion. I don't try to force my views on this upon any member of this community. So please, do not flame me if you disagree...

Even if I am upset about Huawei system update policies, I've never been so comfortable with a phone before (well, maybe the Ascend Mate 7).
- The REAL dual speakers are incredibly outstanding. My wife ditched the iPad Mini-bluetooth speaker pair to start watching anything video-related on my 20X with me. We are really impressed.
- Speaking of multimedia, the screen is simply gorgeous.
- I hadn't ANY issue with ANY game. Period. I know the 855 is all around the news today, but this Kirin is nowhere behind. It flies.
- Calls are loud and crisp, seomthing which is really important for me.
- We have an LG Smart TV with webOS. It took me like 1 minute to launch the desktop from the 20X. I've tested it a couple of times, but I think this feature is something I will start using more frequently in the future, for sure.
- One of the best cameras around, even in night mode. No, no GCam needed, it does its work effortlessly and fluidly, something every frigging flagship camera should do (and not every one of them do).
Even if I only get security patches for the rest of its life, I'm keeping this beauty for a LONG time.

I also love the speakers, what phone has two real speakers? Mostly the second speaker is the call speaker now and that's sounds bad. The same with the IR blaster, what new phone has that?
I wish that 5G version was a nice upgrade (WQHD+ screen, higher ppi, 90hz, under–screen fingerprint, more ram/storage, no notch, more zoom camera), but it looks more like a downgrade.

Great great battery life better than 20x imo (but then performance is a price you pay-could be the Mediatek versus Kirin and just s/w ui polish missing)
EDIT it does have OEM bootloader unlocker option that you can choose and set active
not tried it yet-maybe it is a simple fastboot unlocker command without code (don't know untl I try or I might ask the company contacts who sent me the ROM and instructions etc)

the mi max 3 imo was the best among the lot and I liked it more than the 20x ...the lack of network bands support (only 4 and 5 for Tmobile and ATT, and ATT does not even broadcast on 4 in my state, 5 is very spotty-so it was mostly on 3g or umts) otherwise mi max 3 with miui candy was the best also from balance, weight and feel standpoint
too bad no mi max 4 and mi mix 4 will never get a 6.9 variant
it seems to me that the OEMs are walking away from the large screens
why? 8x max came in the 7.2" first that the mate 20x eventually got
now 9x max is only coming in the 6.59" (as is the 9x)
then you have Xiaomi not doing the max 4
so that tells me the 6.9 to 7.2 era is done or on a pause for now
instead get 6.6 and 6.7 super skinny phones purporting to be large screen phones when they are not due to the elongated aspect ratios

Unfortunately true, aspect 19.5x9 or new 20x9 is killing size, 6.7inch samsung a70 or op 7 pro have real size of old 16x9 phone 6 inch. This is nothing.
I think also that they kill 7 inch products to make space for foldable phones which costs few times more...
But still I hope Huawei will make 30x! Not just hope, but really think it is real.
