I have aproblem with my honor 8
It just overheated just by using camera even for just minutes for taking pucs or using any app using cam as snapchat. Is that normal?
Yeah thats normal.... upper side of the phone gets warm..
That's normal, every phone does that
Is it very hot that you can't have your finger stay?

Once I used my phone as the primary camera for a small family function. Half through the function and abt 100 pics later my phone was getting extremely hot. I had to remove the Spigen case I had on it because the phone was just too hot. It happens with all android phones specially with snapchat for some reason.

Yup it is extremely resource intensive. Actually the app isn't really well designed for Android. My sister's iPhone 6 (3 year old now) can use Snapchat without any problem and my phone is a powerhouse compared to hers.

Yeah. Social media apps smell fear and tend to fck up the phones of users.
Yeah that's the camera ISP heating up, since it's performing a lot of image processing each time you take a picture. No worries unless your phone gets too hot to even touch it.
Title
It seems to be overheating just because the cpu passes it's heat to the metal frame

So, I've had my Nexus 5 since November 6th, and like most phones it gets warm when doing anything intensive. Now, I don't play very many games and really nothing too demanding. Perhaps the primary game I play which seems to warm my device up is the Simpsons Tapped Out game. All things aside, I never felt that my device got "too" warm. Battery temp never went above 100 F (37.7C) that I was able to determine, however there was most certainly a "spot" on the back located just below the camera and dead center of the device. This spot was mirrored onto the LCD area as well. Again, I never thought too much of it, however Friday night (November 16th) I noticed that when the screen was on, but showing a black or similarly dark background there was now a blue-ish circular / oval shape essentially "burned" into the screen. I don't know how else to describe it. This spot coincides directly with the location of the RAM / CPU combination on the internal board.
So, my question, has anyone else experienced distortion of their screen? Presently, while noticeable on dark screens, it's not overly damaging. However, I fear that continued normal use of the device may cause cumulative damage. I plan on contacting Google direct on Wednesday when I have some time due to work, but I'm also worried that due to the RAM / CPU placement, this may be a bigger issue than 1 unlucky phone. Perhaps improper heat shielding?
For the record, I am using the images from http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+5+Teardown/19016 to make my assumptions and conclusions
I appreciate any and all constructive comments!
My one got the same problem, just ordered replacement.
Maybe, the glue behind the glass had dried faster due to the higher temperature in that portion of the screen, causing a different light transmission just there, i think imho.

omg.. what a disaster of phone. If this is true then ALL of the screens will get like that if the user makes some decent use of the phone to play or so.

I highly doubt that there are different revisions of the glue behind the screen, so if one is bad, then all the nexus 5 until this was spotted will have it bad too..

Don't do that, if this starts happening to everyone, they WILL have to rma everyone's nexus 5 out there without asking.
This is by far the major problem of this phone. A true pain for google.
Been a busy day at work! Got my contact into Google as of now. Here's a pic for anyone curious
It seems definitely that the overheating of the cpu has modified the structure of the lower layer of the lcd panel and the backlight has a different effect in that part of the screen.

Are you 100% stock? i played Dead trigger 2 and TR2 yesterday for like 3 hours non stop the back of the phone was pretty warm but not blazing hot i check my screen using the app called LCD tester and i see no spots like on your device
if your 100% stock google added thermal limiting to the CPU witch could have prevented this.
I don't think it's the glue. It's probably just a bad CPU. Not all nexus 5 are created equal. Mine barely gets warm from playing 3d intensive games while on the charger so I'd just RMA yours.

To find out if it is screen burn, try standard screen burn reversal techniques. If it doesn't reverse at all, it's not burn
Bump, does anybody have an idea what this is? I'm considering an exchange b/c of this blue spot.. The spot seems to not be getting any bigger but it's still bugging me

I know this is a dinosaur post that Im digging up but I have a similar issue and couldnt find much info on it.
Basically my Nexus 5 took a really bad fall from someone elses hand and the screen was fine except for a bit of light bleed and colour distortion which went away in the next morning
Now if I use a 2A charger or if I play on it for too long, screen gets a pinkish hue and a spot like this appears and the phone goes a bit hot but it goes back to normal later
doesnt always appear under normal use or if I use a 1A charger
Is this an LCD problem, overheating issue of cpu, motherboard issue or display ribbon?

same thing happened to my Nexus 5 top right corner.. i Sold it and bought a new one. :good:
Hi all
after waiting for a year i finally decided to make to buy the OPO it costed me a year of savings, so this morning .... well , i was sleeping with my dog and there's a guitar nearby that nobody uses it was pretty old and stuff with no stand , so while i was sleeping my dog knocked over the guitar and the whole guitar dropped directly on my phone
needless to say my screen broke , i am not sure about the FFC though
so here's the question should i fix it?
the screen can be open but it can't be touched and my phone force closes for some reason ...well i am pretty sure it wasn't worth repairing though .... time for some extra depression ...oh well :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
and i just flashed lolipop last night and i was so excited to use the smartlock feature this morning ...and there is no other morning
I am not sure. that must be some heavy guitar. or real unlucky fall on screen. Supposedly there are digitizers available on the net. if you think its just the screen you can replace it I guess.

I found one for 80usd which is reasonable but i am not sure about labor, still that was insanely unlucky , i just had a dream about my phone breaking and i got so traumatized outdoors ... but i didn't expect a guitar would drop A FRIGGIN GUITAR!!
Wasn't using any screen guard? Screen is the most difficult part to replace in Opo. Bad luck.

All the S6's have screen issues to some extent whether people wish to believe it or whether they can see it or not, but if you need a fingerprint scanner don't bother, it's rubbish.

No offence, but I think you do it wrong then. I have had 4 different phones with a fingerprint scanner and this is clearly the best and most accurate I have ever had. Only have my thumb scanned in once (some do more for better precision) and it always unlock the phone right away.

Yeah, 44 hours + standby time with 4 hours SOT is ****ty battery.
Getting 8-10 hours SOT if using on Wifi all day. If I use my phone as my grandpa it can hold a week (calling once a day, else in standby). XtreStoLite is the rom to go if you want better battery.
i would say wait for the NOTE 5, because it will be better than the S6....you won't regret it, the only reason i regret getting the S6 is because i should of waited for the NOTE 5, but i couldn't wait half a year, i bought mine on april, and it's known that the NOTE 5 always gets unveiled on IFA but this time it will be unveiled sooner, i think about three weeks from now.....so i would say wait for it....
If you want to buy a phone today, get this one. This is the best android phone on the market right now (although I did love my g4), and out of the millions and millions sold, only a few are having major issues. The reason you see so many complaints is because happy people don't broadcast, but people with problems will tell everyone - it's a fraction of total users though. If there are other issues, like scratches or tint, they're pretty rare. That being said, there will be a number of other phones coming out in the next few months that may change the game a bit.
The phone does have very aggressive memory management, but unless you require multitasking it shouldn't be an issue (i use google nav with spotify playing in the background frequently, and never have an issue with doing things on top of that - music still plays and nav keeps going while I'm on xda or surfing the web).
edit - I haven't had any issues whatsoever with my phone, and once rooted and tweaked, it's even better.
So what abt app_e........ Ihave never used ios but what u guys say is it work buying such a costly phone or go with s6 as i today meself physicaly checked 4 s6 sets all having pinkish colour over white .......so confused my note 3 was better why i sold even cant wait foe note 5 release as its date is not clear and waiting sucks................
dont buy s6 ! you gonna end up like in jail ! no cyanogen mod no mods at all so far ! wait for note5 or one plus 2 am sure its gonna be better then this peace of trash
Hi, I am getting my XZ tomorrow. I currently have the Z5 now but the heating, battery and Amazon has the XZ for $120 more so I will return the Z5 to get the XZ.
I have around 4 to 4 and a half hours of SOT with the Z5 ( thats bad compared to 6-7 hours I get from my iPhone 7 ), I wonder if I can get a better battery life with the XZ?
I also think of flashing the UK rom to enable the fingerprints but I have no idea where to get the rom and how to flash it. I heard some one flashed the 7.0 one and bricked the phone so please me some advices and tutorial if you don't mind.

Not sure what to say about the battery life since I always have it on max brightness. The battery life is fine, I charge my XZ every night but I have not paid any attention to the SOT. Maybe someone else can give you a better idea about actual screen on time that they have experienced.
I am in the U.S and bought my XZ from Clove UK so I didnt have to flash anything to enable fingerprint functionality. However I did have to flash MM again after updating to Nougat and getting a very laggy UI and not being able to retrieve my contacts and messages. It was my first time doing it but it was easy. I flashed the Central Europe firmware instead of the Customized UK one. Now I see LTE on the status bar. The Customized UK shows it as 4G but its the same thing. My phone originally came with the UK firmware but the Central Europe firmware to me is more stable. Here is the tutorial I used http://www.xperiablog.net/2016/03/12/install-xperia-marshmallow-using-flashtool-and-xperifirm-guide/
Just read it carefully first, then follow the steps and you will be fine.
After flashing you can use PC Companion or ur phone to update to Nougat. That's if the update is out.
I get a minimum of 7.5, often 8.5 hours of SOT from my XZ. I don't play any games however; my usage comprises solely of heavy web browsing, calls, Whatsapp, SMS and five hourly synched email accounts.

Do you have any tempered glass screen protector to recommend? I ordered some on Amazon but they just dont stick to the 2 sides due to the curved screen of the XZ.

This is the one I have. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LWPF0NU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It comes in a 2 pack. It works for me but it might not be for everyone. The curved screen protectors I have heard are not good. The one I bought in the link is a tiny bit smaller than the screen so it wont raise up since it is flat and doesnt touch the rounded part. I dont mind the fit bc the screen protector has all the right cutouts so to me it's perfect. Its up to you if you want to buy it tho.

It's not a very good picture I took it with my Z3 Tablet. When i installed it i did manage to get dust under so the edge so that's what u see on the edge. However the screen protector is firmly stuck on the screen. It's hard to take off once it's on so dont worry about it sliding off or separating from the corners.

I thought it was just me or my phone. You can see the image i took of my sisters s10 plus with her gallery showing with my note 20 ultra. Its very badly blurred or washed out. So i took my sisters fresh out the box note 20 ultra which i was setting up for her and it had the same exact results. I made sure the camera settings was the same on both to compare pictures. Then i pulled up my gallery on my note 20 ultra… and took a picture with the s10 plus. It was a world of difference. There was no blury or washed out colors or words. I asked my girlfriend who also just got the note 20 ultra if she noticed anything blury with her phone and she replied yes and sent me a picyure she took of her daughter eating. The backround was very blury or again washed out with color. I confirmed issues with 3 people that i know personally that have the note 20 ultra.
I cantacted samsung thru Samaung Members chat. I got the typical replies that will all result in a hard reset. Im not trying to do that after i just took an entire day setting up my phone to yield the same results that im getting on 3 different phones. Im afraid unless many more people start seeing this ill have to get another note 20 ultra and fear itll be the same.

Ive been in the note and galaxy family since the s3. I am seeing little hiccuos here and there with the phone. My battety life has been pretty good tho. I see a almost like a glitch every now and then here and there. Cant explain it. Im sure that in time will be fixed with updates. The other thing that is driving me crazy is i use Single tap to swipe feature which allows you to answer the phone by tapping the answer button rather then swiping. But when i activate it… .it brings up a perminant accessories menu on your screen that floats on any screen your seeing. With my old s10 plus it did this to but you can comoletly remove the menu and hid it. On the note 20 ultra you cant. There is an option to hide it on the edge panel but it still gets in the way and i accidentally touch it and i see it on all my screens.
Fix from Samsung
I spoke with Samsung and they said I can file a warranty claim, free of charge, and some expert will take a look at the issue. You can take it locally or have it shipped out.
I will wait and see what fixes arise, if nothing shows up in a month then I will get it sent to Samsung.
Aren't the backgrounds supposed to naturally blur a bit? I remember reviews talking about the "natural bokeh" effect.
Hey I have the same issue. It blurs the surrounding focus. I also checked my s10 and did not have the same issue. Is anyone else experiencing this? Its weird bc this is supposed to be the best camera out there.

Yeah, I am having the same issue as well. I don't mind it that much right now since I do not take a lot of pictures or videos, but I do want it fixed soon.
The background blur is because of the sensor size.
