Well a guitar dropped on my OPO - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
after waiting for a year i finally decided to make to buy the OPO it costed me a year of savings, so this morning .... well , i was sleeping with my dog and there's a guitar nearby that nobody uses it was pretty old and stuff with no stand , so while i was sleeping my dog knocked over the guitar and the whole guitar dropped directly on my phone
needless to say my screen broke , i am not sure about the FFC though
so here's the question should i fix it?
the screen can be open but it can't be touched and my phone force closes for some reason ...well i am pretty sure it wasn't worth repairing though .... time for some extra depression ...oh well :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
and i just flashed lolipop last night and i was so excited to use the smartlock feature this morning ...and there is no other morning

I am not sure. that must be some heavy guitar. or real unlucky fall on screen. Supposedly there are digitizers available on the net. if you think its just the screen you can replace it I guess.

I found one for 80usd which is reasonable but i am not sure about labor, still that was insanely unlucky , i just had a dream about my phone breaking and i got so traumatized outdoors ... but i didn't expect a guitar would drop A FRIGGIN GUITAR!!

Wasn't using any screen guard? Screen is the most difficult part to replace in Opo. Bad luck.

Touch panel- fail

So the one time I decide to take the thundy out the case I drop it getting out of the car. I pick it up and its non responsive, can't get past HTC green/white screen. I tried holding vol down and I went into system info. It says touch panel- fail?!? Did I really toast this thing in one drop?
Ouch buddy let us know how it goes that makes me cringe as I always rock my phones naked, well except the nexus one neoprene that i have used on both incredibles and the nexus one I own. Wish it was big enough for my Thunderbolt that case has saved my ass a couple times
So Jcase helped me flash back to stock and it now says S-On in bootloader but I still can't get past HTC logo. I think it dropped just right and broke the screen. Be careful if your running your phone without a case guys, Im a good example. First drop, ruined the screen! Now I have to wait for a replacement to get shipped.
ok so I got the $5.18/ month insurance from Verizon, they tried to offer a $6.99/month plan that adds a 6 month warranty to the exchange and then took it back saying you cant with the thunderbolt.
So my question is should I just tell them I lost the phone and get to keep the battery, sd card, and possibly fix the touch screen later to put it on Metro PCS? Verizon says they cover lost phones, does anyone know if I will have more trouble if my phone is lost versus broken?
Also if its broken is there anyway of getting out of the $100 deductible?
Anyone know if I have to wait a day after adding insurance or any trouble I will run into with this?
So you would tell them you lost it even though you dropped it?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Ill admit its sneaky, but to be honest Im mad that this phone didn't hold up better. The battery casing popped off relatively easy when it was dropped which was its downfall. Now I have to pay $100 and Im just supposed to be ok with this?
If Verizon still had a 30 day policy I could just take it to them but they are tightening the reigns.
Pics to follow showing light damage
Here are the pics
The only damage cosmetically to the phone is the nick on the corner and a scratch to the camera lens bezel that I can't really get to show up in a picture. Phone looks pristine, yet isn't worth more than a brick.
You can justify all you want but it doesn't make it right. Good luck

Your right this phone is built to withstand nothing. Seems weird that 15 days after the bolt's release verizon is changing all their return policy rules.
Also no extended warranty available for the replacement, when they are offering it on other devices. I think I will keep this phone as my own insurance policy..
I ended up using best buy black tie program because they gave me a phone on the spot. I didn't say I lost it, just gave them the broken phone. I was pretty frustrated yesterday when my TB failed!
Just brick it and say you downloaded an application and it shut off your phone and thats what came up
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
Well I got it the 15th so Im outside of verizon's 14 day policy. Your saying if I dont tell them I dropped it they might replace the phone? You cant even tell I dropped it, the best buy lady was like why is your phone so useless? (its basically already bricked but now S-On, only going to boot screen)
Anyone try replacing a digitizer yet? Best Buy wants 30 days, plus 5 days for shipping, plus x amount of extra days cause their system was down for replacements....Im just getting so lucky, lol. I was hoping they were doing the 3 day rapid exchange, only on crapple phones though.
Link for $40 digitizer- http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/39....zer-for-htc-thunderbolt-4g-incredible-hd-6400
This will void my warranty huh?
Correct me if im wrong as I have not actually seen a TB disassembled but is it possible that a pin connection just jolted loose? I mean it seems must more feasible in my opinion..
That is always possible. I have seen it b4. My wife has a plasma tv that just quit the day after bestbuy return policy. They were gonna send a tech, but it was gonna be a week or more. So I pulled it off the wall and tore into it. They never pushed the lock down on the ribbon cable! Been fine ever since.

If I were you Id tell them the screen simply "Just Stopped working". From the looks of it nothing is cracked or broken so they couldent claim you did it.
I know, I know. Im a horrible dishonest person who makes things expensive and make people kill themselves.
So let me get this right. You were cheap so you didn't buy a case. Then YOU dropped it onto cement and expected to just pick it up and it to work fine. Then you go to Verizon and tell them you lost it so you can get a new phone plus keep the old one you know the one that YOU dropped. You are so freaking ridiculous. I hope you drop your new phone on carpet this time and it breaks. People these days, really.

I agree... They need to get rid of phone insurance and let people be more careful.
I would think from such a short drop it wouldn't be such a drastic result as the touchscreen failing. I mean, you must have dropped it "just right" for that to happen, I would think.
I accidentally dropped my BlackBerry down a flight of stairs at work and there wasn't even a scratch!
But I can see how a 4.3 inch screen could be more susceptible to damage than a BlackBerry.
Just remember, karma can be a *****, so pay it forward and be honest. You reap what you sow.

Question abouth battery and durability

Ok guys, reading all abouth your posts and all and after around a month of deciding which phone to buy for ideal size not like one x or s3
which are pricy like some good PC or smtg like that this phone just showed very nice with battery and all,
made me go away from sony xs (big-thinker than 1s),sony xp smaller battery and dont wanna get s2 cos its kinda old and all.
1s best allrounder, battery which is very important for me,I wanted to ask u a for me very interesting question..
As I used HD2 when it came around for a year and had to like, wear a charger almost with me cos using it very often,
sometimes to chat for like hours which was draining battery very fast...
But Im curious is this phone better or what ?Cos I send like hmm 100,200sms per day around...So that kinda uses screen allot.
And dont wanna buy phone to use it brighness like hard to see letters at all,why would I harm my eyes :S?I cant buy that :/...So what u think if every 30mins or smtg my screen will go up for 30secs or smtg than after again in 15 or smtg and continuos work" on it will it drain fast?
or I can count to survive a day or smtg?atm using some crapy phone with small screen samsung [email protected] 322,which can last for like days,2,3,4 depends but I fforget to see how many days it can survive so it has to be much.
And hd2 when I had it it was like on 8am full charge,at 16h or earlier or smtg again :/ if I go more on it(true I didnt update rom or do smtg abt battery like from this forums I saw, tought itll go well like that etc etc) so what u think?
will it survive a day with smsing that much?dont wanna buy nokia e6 with idiotic simbian to last it a week without charge..
for some wifi gps some gays maybe sometimes and stuff like that?but that way using all that to get hard stand for 1 day would be good?what u say?and how long can it survive for just texting ,just only just texting with like 50% default brightness or smtg like that ?
And also, had HD2,which I shattered screen twice...realy shame, had it for a year and was all good than droped from a less than 1m high seems right to screen and it was shattered a bit,but when got it repaired
,screen wasnt fiting best in...So I droped it once again :/ and ...screen was shattered like in drop test videos...that was like 300e repair,u do know how much that **** is..... ...could buy another phone ....
and now decided for one s,but affraid its not durable EVEN with case?
Im interested, that some ppl that got it WITH case what can u say when u droped ?and what if I drop it directly on screen?I can say goodbye?
Or just to move to e6 nokia and use stupid dead os symbian and be happy with battery of it....
and durability(cos smaller screen, less chance to shatter) so?cant wait to see your responses
thank you sincerely
The battery is amazing ill post a screen shot of right bleow. Left the phone display on for the better half of today. As far as durability goes I never dropped mine. My gf on the other hand was walking down the steps (concrete) in front of her house, turned back to get something from the house as I was locking the door. Her foot hooked the top step and she hit the floor. She had her phone in her hand and had to release it to break her fall with her hand as the other one was carrying her lunch. All I remember was that it landed face down and it was without a doubt the ugliest slap I ever heard. I remember their wasn't even a bounce. Just a slap and a skid. She and I both have zaggs and d30 cases. I thought it was a goner.... *sigh* but to much surprise after it coming down face first with some speed behind it it was perfectly fine. Not sure if it was the gorilla glass, case, screen protector or all 3 but its still alive and kicking without a scratch on it. You won't be dissapointed!

Next is how much % in brighness u put screen on and are u made it dimmed all the time :S?To have that good result ?or fully normal around 50% normal to watch not dimed or anything like that to survive more?:O
And last 1,did u changed anything to phone when u bought it?Like changed rom or did smtg like optimized or smtg mate?thanks allot for answering

Sorry forgot to post tasks. But this was daily use. Texted, a few pic messages, playing little empire, web browsing, using flipboard and xda. The screen is pretty dim as I use my phone indoors most of the time anyway. Using trickdroid tmous 3.0 with tweaks.

I unlocked bootloader and rooted the day I got it. Used trickdroids and ledroids Roms so far. My gf is using blackdragon 5.0. All three are very excellent as far as stability and DD use. Trickdroid seems to be giving me the best battery life regardless of the placebo affect
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
I'm positive it will last that long or longer as I had my screen on all day. If I turned it off it would go much further. You may get similar results with leaving it on 50% and letting it sleep periodically. I posted a screen in torxx's EU trickdroid rom with a day and 6 hrs use. That was a normal work day. 13 hr shift and 3 one hr breaks in-between those 13 hrs. Zaggs are called 'invisishield" and they ate somewhat self healing. The d30 cases and the shields I got when I got the phones from T-Mobile. Check their website or the MP. You'll find them!

no way this thing will go beyond 5 hours of screen time with normal use, custom rom or not.
And that's not a typo, I used trickdroids EU rom on a tmous phone before he had the tmous thread. I posted pics of that as well. Very solid phone and very solid devs behind it!!! Only thing we need now is the source code. I'm positive it will shine along side the s3 when that drops.

Im not here to bullsh*t people. I'm not a dev or HTC spokesman. People ask whats going on with someone who uses the phone and what they are doing with it. I just post my experience and results. Take away from it what you want. So many people talk about the batt life. I wonder why....

Thanks allot mate, thanks for your answer and info, can u tell me where are u from ?Cos Im from Serbia and erm how could I buy case and screen protector from tmobile :S cos cant even google it :/ in here :S probably dont exist here..and case looks wonderfull saw some tests, now heard u and very interested in it,cos I can pay even like 100euro's more just to make phone more durable..but that doesnt mean to have it looking like **** like I saw some cases which make from phone old days gps devices like 20mm,25.. thick and stuff.....
So how could I get it anyway?Cos without getting it :/ no way getting phone,as what I saw how screens are easily broken....Im not that alone anymore...with my breaking...Seems ppl realy struggle with it :/...Damn cant wait to post on htc forum or other manufacturer for their workers to answer me,did they ever happened to have phone droped and what happened...In factory and stuff and HOW THE **** they let those phone leave factories and be like hey very durable phone...come on those older phones can survive ****load of heavy dmging....even directly to the screen ......
So how could I get it :S?
And mate :S there is htc one s case in USA right :S?And in EU :S?
Yeah their are slight differences in phone bodies between EU and us. I live in us. Try amazon, eBay, or their official websites for the case and screen protector. Or try the marketplace on xda. Someone should have either one and happily ship to you. You will probably have to front the money first since you don't have very much rep on here.

Thanks allot,Ive got uncle in Italy, mailed him to see if he can buy me 1 at he's place or anywhere there, cool and thanks allot for info(btw rooting and changing roms kinda aint anything special hard? And how stable they are hmm?)
Just follow step by step instructions. If you don't know what you're doing or run into a term you don't understand, Google it. YouTube will walk you through it. That's what helped me get out of bootlooping on my g1! If you try all that, and it doesn't work, then try again. If that fails and you think you tried everything give a quick comment of what's going on and what you did with the rom you're using. Do not spam dev threads with stuff that has been beaten to death and explained time and time again. Read their first page over and over and over again. Then try it. If that doesn't work wipe away and start all over again. Hope you like your phone mate!!!

Dude you have crazy good battery life. I only get 2-3 hour screen usage amper charge
Does your carrier use a DC-HSPA+(UMTS, with dual carrier HSPA+) in the cell network, because a "4G" is shown in the screen capture. However MSM8260A doesn't support LTE, the only choice for 4G left is DC-HSPA+.
Btw, did you spend the 8 hours watching video?

Its tmous U.S. The "H" network or 3.5 "4g" or whatever they want to call it. I did leave it on and sit just to test out the batt and current set up I'm using. I used the phone when I needed to. No vids just textes (between 30-50 normal use), pic messages, web browsing, flipboard, gaming buzz widget, and I hotspotted for like 15 mins to download some apps to my hd2 from the marketplace. No calls either, but then again who uses their for phone for phone calls

Had to replace one as a result of dropping it. My newest replacement was due to a fail digitizer.
I ive dropped my SGS many times. So many people rip on samsung for using plastic build materials but it is really durable.

I was very happy with my jailbroken i-phone 3gs. I thought it was protected by the sleek looking CaseCrown surround. However, after dropping it while on the treadmill, stepping on it while on the treadmill, and seeing the result shoot backward and hit the wall, I realized that CaseCrown was no Otterbox. Broken case, broken on/off switch, and speaker that rattled. Anyway, my hands are not as steady as they once were, so I was unable to make the repair myself. I sent it off to a third-party vendor, and it was returned with a new case, but the volume controls did not work and neither did the antenna. After arguing back and forth, (the vendor insisted that my jailbreak was responsible even though it has worked just fine for two years) they tried to fix it again. In the meantime, I got fed up wit the wait and opted to move to the 'droid side. Now I have a shiny new Galaxy Note (i 717 AT&T with stock ICS). Never looking back -- I love the note! (not rooted yet -- I am still reading the various posts about it. I want to be sure I know what I am doing, and how to recover, before I mess with it.)
I dropped my old flip phone(s) repeatedly but it never really broke, just got some wear and tear.
Dropped my first Android a few times, but my case saved it.
So for now, I've been really careful with my phones.

My old vibrant took a 7 ft face first fall onto a concrete warehouse floor. Not a scratch, thanks to otterbox. My GS2 has been dropped one or twice, but also no harm done. I'm confident that without proper cases, that vibrant would be broken, instead of being used by my son.
I use electronic devices carefully specially mobile phones, i dropped my Nokia 5800 once and its case cracked.

I don't usually drop my phone, but I have a good friend who quite regularly drops her galaxy s2 xD i think both cameras are dying now.
my first phone was a lg 4400 (it didnt even have a camera),which my daughter dropped in the toilet. thankfully the water was clean! i took it apart to let it dry for a few days, put it back together and my wife used it for 6 months before it died. been very lucky/carefull with all my other phones.
my phone is BB 8700, and I don't care about that
Dropped a phone, I often do this. Many times battery even get out of my phone when dropped.
I have had Motorola phones for the past 2 years, I dropped my old Droid 2 from a 10 foot ladder, and all it got was a slight scratch on the raised bezel bottom left of the screen. made a switch to the nexus a while back have dropped it a few times with only a screen protector on and it hasn't acquired any noticeable damage cept for a small scratch on the battery cover.

[Q] Cracked Screen, need some advice

Maxx DE here.
So im an idiot and had a few too many and dropped my phone real hard on the sidewalk and cracked the screen. Its my fault, she went down hard and now had a few small cracks thru the screen. Normally I wouldnt mind, as they are not too noticable, but it seems to have split right through the capacitive buttons down at the bottom of the phone. This is now causing issues with those buttons functioning properly.
I have successfully disabled them and gotten the phone working with on screen nav buttons, but i am still seeing slight issues with the performance of the screen. Mainly i believe because even though the buttons now do not control anything, the phone still can see they are being touched. (my symptoms are the screen will not timeout sometimes, as well as increased battery drain i think from the registering of all the button presses from the crack). Otherwise the screen works fine.
I have been reading up on a few options. Moto wants 200 buckos to repair the phone. I have found the lens/overlay for the screen/digitizer but i have been watching youtubes, and it seems pretty difficult to properly remove the LOCA glue and reapply the new lens, especially for someone who has never repaired a phone before.
So my question to you guys is, has anyone ever just repaired the lens/overlay and had successes? Should i just pony up the 200 and have Moto fix my phone? Are there any reputable repair shops in NYC that members have used (I hear a lot of horror stories about these screen repair places and am hesitant about just trying one out)?
Thanks!
I would send to Moto. Little cash no more worrying about it, don't have ship around for days, don't have to ask a lot of ?, and I know it was done right with original parts not some knock off our quality no name parts. But that's me, my sanity and time is worth the money to me.

Ya, thats what i have been leaning towards more and more, as i research and look at parts. Seems the safe way for self-repair is to buy the whole front LCD+Glass assembly, which in that case is like 20 bucks cheaper.
It just seems redic to me that asurion does not cover developer editions which is crazy since i have been paying for that insurance for the past year. It would have been nice of them to tell me that my phone wasnt covered when i activated it.
Yeah no kidding. If was paying for the insurance on a phone that wasn't covered I would throw a fit to get refunded. That's like getting a car loan only to find out it's not for your car.

Well, you can always use ebay, they're like 180 dollar and it includes lcd/digitzer and frame, it should be easy... These droids are relative easy to fix.

Busted Screen...Design flaw?

:crying:
LONG VERSION:
Well when I first got my idol 3 on May 23rd the first thing I did before turning it on was to install a cheap plastic screen protector. I then turned it on, played with it and poured over the outside of the phone. Build seemed good. The only area I genuinely disliked was the design choice laying the glass screen on TOP of the frame/bezels. It looks nice but I thought at the time, 'makes me worry about dropping it, even with a case'. I always use TPU cases with no problems and installed it on the idol. Today my screen shattered. I did not drop the phone (haven't dropped it once in the 3+ weeks I've owned it). I did not bump into anything. The phone was in my side pocket of my work pants (not 'skinny' jeans I wear loose pants/jeans. Side rant: no disrespect to the hipsters but skinny jeans are not in my vocabulary, I don't know anyone that looks good in them ) while I drove from work around the corner to Wegmans (grocery store). Got in the store and pulled out my phone only to see a shattered screen. I thought it was my tempered screen protector ( I put that on a few days after getting the phone once they were in stock) until I noticed I couldn't use the bottom 2/3 of the touchscreen. Digitizer was shot. Ugh. Looking back the only point I can think of where any pressure was applied to the screen would be when I got out of the car and my pants probably tightened when pivoting off the seat. Seriously. That's it. I must have done the same thing 2 dozen times as I almost always go to Wegmans after work and since it's so close I leave the phone in my pocket (loose pockets!!). Afterwards while driving home I always put the phone in it's holster on the dash. I got home and pulled the tempered glass off (incidentally the glass protector is fine..) and took a closer look. Remember "Bendgate" with the 6-plus? Yeah my phone is also ever so slightly bent as well. I baby the hell out of my phone, not a scratch or nick anywhere on the body. I'm so disappointed. I absolutely love this phone and yesterday I would rate alcatel/the phone a 4.5 out of 5 for a stellar product with few issues (obv. the pervasive DT2W issue). But after today I strongly believe they messed up their design by putting the glass on top of the frame and not embedded within the bezels like almost every other phone out there. I'm preparing my email to alcatel now in hopes I get something from them but I know they have no reason to believe my story as to how this happened. I don't believe my actions were a result of misuse by any means as I've owned plenty of smartphones without ever breaking one. I don't expect anything from Alcatel but I seriously hope their next iteration of this phone will be better protected. I'm creating this thread as a warning to all the other owners out there that you need to be very careful handling this phone, If a simple motion such as this can result in a broken screen then I'm sure that a drop will be just as bad even with a tempered glass protector. So everyone PLEASE be careful! Personally I am distrustful of the device's build quality now and will hang on to this until I can buy a replacement screen/digitizer and attempt to replace it myself ( a review on Amazon a few days ago mentioned that screen replacement costs $150, almost the price I paid for the thing) though I will wait to hear back from Alcatel. I'll try to upload a couple pics of the phone, but really all you'll see is an otherwise pristine phone with a broken screen and the leftover residue from my tempered protector (now removed). Ugh, this sucks
Short Version:
My screen broke while in my pocket from minimal to barely moderate pressure and is also now bent, ala #Bendgate. WTF
I can't believe this phone broke that easy, it was either a defective phone or its just fragile. I'm really thinking of returning this phone since it has so many things to it.

I hope it was just a dud for everyone else's sake, problem is I don't expect Alcatel to replace it under warranty and I'm not willing to spend 75% of what I paid for it on a new screen. THe other issues are minor to me personally, with DT2W being the biggest annoyance. I barely get any lag with animations on top speed and nova launcher and I'm satisfied with the camera for the price point. My previous phone, the HTC One m7 was great until it got the lollipop 5.02 update and then lagged like crazy so I truly believe performance issues will be resolved with an update/root. I'm really devastated this broke so easily as the screen size/front speakers were exactly what I wanted in a phone, not to mention the great battery life I get vs. old phone.
Dang I have a tpu case and tempered glass but I'm scared now lol thinking of returning and getting a OPO

I seriously considered the opo but for me band support was paramount. I wonder if a hard case would be better for this phone, I know they're harder on the body but would presumably give a bit more structure for the phone. OT, I finally have a use for the reversible feature as it allows me to type on the phone and open most apps flipping the thing upside down over and over :/
Hopefully its not a defect to all phones. I only have till Monday to figure out if I want to return it

Have you approached Alcatel to see if they will replace the device/display under warranty? Clearly you did not do anything out of the ordinary - drop it to knock it against something - so they *should* replace it, and if not, you should be able to take it up with your credit card company. I feel sorry for your situation. I got my phone for $200, have no problems except the lag ( and more recently more frequent d2w issues ) - and I am waiting for something like you to happen to me. At that time I will have to take it up with Alcatel , because I certainly want to keep the device, for its bright screen and loud speakers alone, for the $200 I paid.
Electronics are not flawless articles - but my suggestion would be give Alcatel support a chance. This will also tell all of us, how good their support really is. Abt 4 years back, I was one of the lucky ones that got in on the $99 HP Touchpad sweepstakes - and right after I got it, the display panel started malfunctioning. So I took it up with HP and they sent me a prepaid box - and had me ship the tablet back to them - and returned it to me after replacing the display. Since that day, that device has been a workhorse for me - Best $90 I ever spent on a piece of electronics. So my point is - sometimes - your immediate experience will be negative - but it is worth give it another chance. And these days, usually your CC company will come to your rescue in such matters.
Oh absolutely. I guess I wasn't very clear about that but I'm retelling my story with them. I certainly hope they do something about it, I just have my doubts.I'll have to read through the terms on my credit card, can't remember if I used Amex or Discover for it.. but I thought you just got an extended warranty through them, no?
Ok I sent out my lengthy email to Alcatel just now, so I'll update this thread when I hear back from them. Also I looked into my purchase and I did use Discover which includes 90-days device coverage including broken screens so I'm covered in case Alcatel doesn't come through. Thanks stl1859, I would not have remembered that if you didn't mention it.

I know it's hard to believe, I have a hard time believing it. Which is precisely why I posted about this. And yes it was minimal to moderate pressure. I did not drop the device, it was in my pocket and I didn't bump into anything. The only pressure exerted was from my pants as I shifted to the left to get out of the car. I've certainly been fortunate over the years to have never broken a screen; I've dropped my previous phones a handful of times, even rolled over one while it was in my pocket. If any of those things would have happened and resulted in a broken screen/bent phone I wouldn't be posting here.. I expect that outcome in those situations. Also no I don't expect Alcatel to believe me, which is why I was so worried about spending my money on a device only to have it fail in this manner. Thankfully due to the suggestion of another member I will be covered thanks to my CC company.
You are still going to try getting a replacement from Alcatel, right ? I am really interested in knowing how efficient they are in handling repair/exchanges.

Yes, I'm currently waiting on them. Since I submitted the support email going into the weekend I'm giving them through Monday to reply before I start calling them.
Well, As expected.. BTW the phone number listed is not valid. Had to initiate claims online at alcatel.finetw.com Customer care didn't care (haha) how the phone broke, though I wouldn't expect them to. I'll include a copy of my original email with the phone so that hopefully the tech at least takes a look at the strength of the phone.
Dear xxxxxx,
Thank you for getting in touch with us. We understand your concern and we will be happy to assist you. Unfortunately with physical damaged the warranty gets void, so you can contact the repair center and ask how much they will charge you to fix device, the phone number is 496-484-6610..
Best regards,
ALCATEL ONETOUCH
First, that is a pathetic response. With that kind of attitude, they are not going to gain many customers. Second, I don't think that is a valid statement at all. Defects can cause 'physical damage'. It is a piece of electronics after all . If they are not covering 'physical damage' - what are they covering - emotional damage !!!
They probably meant physical *abuse* - which in your case - there was none. So I do not think they have grounds to decline warranty. It appears that they are simply assuming there was 'physical abuse' . Let me ask you - did you explain the incident - to the level of detail that you did over here ? ( meaning how it was in your pant's pocket - and how there might have been some pressure when you tried to get out of your vehicle , etc etc. ) - Or did you simply tell them that you discovered the screen to be shattered one fine day when you took it out of your pocket ?
Are you still engaging with them, or are you going to go to your CC company now ? I am disappointed with their support. Clearly, the only way they can sell anything if they keep pricing their products dirt cheap. Even then, I would think twice before buying from them.
I'm just thinking that this is going to be my last Alcatel product if I even decide to keep it. This support is pretty bad.

I keep mine in jeans, including skinny jeans and don't have these issues. It doesn't have much give so I have to position it in the pocket with the least pressure points. I would expect screen separation before screen cracking since it is plastic. I have had issue when its hot the double tap to wake will turn on the lock screen and dial contacts if the pocket is big enough for it to move around. So far I am impressed with dragontrail being less prone to fingerprints, but I do everything to avoid scratches and cracks short of a screen protector so take that into consideration.
i dont think any brand will buy your story even if its true. any physical dmg will become a user end fault no matter which product you purchase since theres no way to prove its their manufacturing fault when its physical defect and the end user is using it.

This is really the crux of it. And why I said I did not expect them to do anything. The only way to uncover a design flaw IMO is if this starts happening a lot (like bendgate.. well maybe not a lot in that case but some people showing on video how easily it bent). Also yes I went into great detail about the when/where/how the device broke. I also included the details with the phone, imploring the tech to at least look at the device to determine if there's a structural weak point or something. Sorry I took so long to reply, I've been getting my backup device (LG Leon.. ok phone for price but slooooow) setup and haven't been to the site in a few days.

Yeah I'm going through the CC company now. Interestingly I had to pay $40 to send the device back listing the screen as broken, so maybe (knock on wood) it won't be as expensive after all
