What's the best custom ROM? - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

hi everyone, i've tried a lot of different custom roms on my frd-l09, but i can't decide what of these is the best for me. Currently i'm running the HalogenOS rom and it is quite good for the battery life but NFC and Hotspot aren't still working.
So i'm asking you: what's the best custom rom you can install on Honor 8 in your opinion? And is there a rom with a good battery life and all the features working ?

Allow me to advertise here about my ROM ?
Try crDroid. It is pretty stable and fast enough for daily usage. And it doesn't has the NFC bugs or Hotspot. You can also use Validus which is my personal favourite. It's fast and really rock solid.

Stock ROMs faster than Custom ROMs?

Hello everyone, greetings!
My question is are stock ROMs faster in loading and launching apps than custom ROMs
I'm asking this because I'm currently on RR 5.8.2 and I'm starting to feel that Stock 6.0.1 feels faster(sometimes).
What are your thoughts on this?

Hello,
You could give a try to LineageOS 14.1 ROM.
I find it better than the Stock 6.0.1.

In many cases, yes... the stock ROM is faster, more efficient, and more battery friendly. Moto might do a lot of things wrong, but they know how to optimize a ROM and kernel.
Yes, is better.
Is lineage os something better?
Stock ROM 6.0.1 is only faster if you are using another customer Marshmellow ROM. However Custom Nougat ROMs are alot faster than stock Marshmellow ROM. This is for simple reason that Nougat is better than Marshmellow. I have tried most of them and also I went back to stock for few weeks and I was feeling Stock ROM is working in slow motion as compare to Nougat ROMs . However battery consumtion and optimisation is far better on stock ROM as compare to any other custom ROM.
Lineage is simply nougat and stock is simply MM. speed-wise I would have to run a lot of tests to find out which is faster. I run Lineage because it works (for me) and it gets the security updates, which MM does not. Have no idea about RR.

I think people play a lot more with their new toy (custom rom) so the display is on a lot more and this will kill any battery. It's not the rom, but the user.

Given the same type of use I find that Lineage is ever so slightly better on battery than stock 6.0, but I would expect that as N is supposed to be ever so slightly better than M.
Example - daily use, I used to run stock 6.0 M down to 85 regularly and N is generally 90 or 88%. XT1540/US/ATT/GoPhone. There are days where I only run LinOS down to 97%.

Yes it does alot fatser on custom ROMS. I have tried most of the ROMS in this forum . Battery is best in Stock Marshmellow ROM. The only ROM which is closest to stock is nearly pure Nougat ROM https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/development/osprey-aosp-caf-7-1-1-t3576936
Try this one has best battery life . also make sure you read Q&A on bottom of the page for further battery saving of above ROM Thread
Lineage OS is also a good for Battery as compare to most of other Nougat Roms https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/orig-development/rom-unofficial-cyanogenmod-14-t3466246

Do you guys calibrate battery after flashing new roms?
Hi All,
My experience has been a little different from others here. My phone usage is lesser compared to others in general. So I am writing based on that:
On Stock MM 6.0.1 on Osprey I used to get 4-5 days on a single 100% charge.
On Custom Nougat 7.1.1 (GzRom Tesla) with similar usage pattern as above I consistently get 8-10 days with a single 100% charge.
Also custom roms feel way faster than stock roms.

A thing of the past... "Calibration" today is nothing special, just let the battery drain until it shuts down on its own and then fully charge. That's all they mean.

Not really... I've rarely seen it make any real difference unless you have an issue where it doesn't seem to be charging fully or it's shutting down at more than 3%

ROM with good battery Backup

can anyone suggest the best rom for yunique which has quite good battery backup.
Waiting for your reply thanks
i have tried quite a few roms like halogen latest, RR, Carbon but all of them does not meets my expectations.
even in some of them it's impossible to play games they lags like hell and phone hangs up.
then what about Lineage official/unofficial, Vipre, AOSPExtended, Slim ROM and AOSParadox?
Did you tried them all????
Miui7
Tried viper?
Best ROM for Yunique
If you are searching for the best ROM with good battery life. Then go to ViperOS ROM, AOSP and Resurrection Remix ROM's. These all are the best roms with better battery backup.

it is a good rom
but has google camera which is pathetic
i flashed the snap camera from other roms too but it starts giving errors
Not possible
no custom rom available for yunique so good as official stock rom 5.1.... all tried by me even Remix, AOSP, Viper, Cost,Lineage... all has same issue Very high charging time and very low battery backup.... Yes the official YUOS marshmallow has great battery backup...but we know that it is not stable...even they are saying its stable... but if you restart your phone it showing optimizing apps every time and this never ends... So I am again at STOCK ROM 5.1 now....Waiting if any developer make good battery backup Custom Rom like Stock Rom.... Even flashing with other kernel not works...
Try lineage os 15 it will meet your expectations
Itswith volte and a quite good battery backup which i never found in any nougat roms plus has a ultimate performance

Choosing the right rom

Hey guys, i hope it's okay to write the question here.
So basically in a couple of days my 360h period ends and i can finally unlock the bootloader and root the phone.
My problem is, its been a while since i used something else as lineageos, and to make it even harder the note 6 pro has this notch (which seems to be a problem for some roms?)
So my question is quiet simple... which rom should i use for best performance and no notch issues?
should i stay with a MIUI rom and try to debloat the stuff like the "whatsapp cleaner"? (i never used Whatsapp for example), just install lineage os (and hope there is no notch issue) or should i go for a project treble rom, where my biggest issue is: what exactly is the huge difference between the usual roms and a project treble rom?
Each rom (official or not) has pros and cons, and each user has individual taste so....
I tried official and beta from MIUI, official and beta from xiaomi.eu, lineageOS 15, Pixel Experience, Havoc OS v2.1 and SuperiorOS
For now I'm using Bootleggers. I like it, but maybe you won't....

Can u plz suggest me best ROM for battery back up for my note 6 pro(tulip) thanks in advance
I tried AEX, crDroid and RR.
AEX is by far the worst. Display doesn't look good and device is slow.
RR has some issues, specially with the notch, battery and performance. Apps freeze a lot.
crDroid is the best. Great performance, great battery life and good notch compatibility.

according to me eu roms for note 6 pro have the best battery backup, they dont come with all the useless gapps like google play book etc so i suggest give eu roms a try. moreover remember customization and battery backup are inversely proportional.

is CrDroid still the best custom rom for n6p? How about SOT, overall performance,... on CrDroid and other roms? Is it worth to switch from stock miui 10 to any of these custom roms? On miui i've 1-2 days of usage at 6-7h SOT....
At the moment, there are a couple choices in terms of roms. At this point there is not really a "perfect" or amazing rom available for this device just yet. I have been testing the "official" and "unofficial" roms and they are decent but they have a long way to go until I would consider using them on a day to day basis. A lot of them have bugs which is a given, considering how relatively new this device is. It would be great to see official support for roms such as Paranoid Android, Lineage OS and Resurrection Remix. But this will take time like everything. If we look at the recovery side of things, we are still trying to get an official recovery which will be essential. From what I have seen TWRP by ATG Droid is probably the 'closest' recovery we have to something the same stability and features seen from an "official" recovery. Take what I have said with a grain of salt, pretty much all of this is opinionated if you did not get the memo.

50/50, there is no such thing as a "best ROM" by any kind of dynamic. The best ROM is the one that suits your preferences and purposes, you just need to test drive different ROMs until you find one that satisfies you.

I don't know. The ROM thread where you find the ROM should have a list of the features included in the ROM.
ROM suggestions are pretty much a waste of time and a waste of a question. You need to do as suggested and try different ROMs for yourself, only then will you find a ROM that satisfies you.

Hi, could you be more detailed on your experience with A13? Which is your device? I have a Poco X3 on Miui 13 A12 and want to flash a rom but I'm trying to decide between Crdroid A12 or Evolution X A13 (though I know the last one has just dropped days ago, but if its better, I'll go with that one)

Hi, my device is Redmi Note 11, If you want to customize a lot of things about the status bar or battery display then I would recommend crDroid. It has a longer battery life than EvolutionX which while having performance can be equal to crDroid but very draining of battery (perhaps EvolutionX animation is made high up to 90hz instead of 60hz, although crDroid also has it up to 60-90hz but I only set it to 60hz to save more battery). I also don't understand why EvolutionX is draining more battery than crDroid even though I've tried it all out. But the only point is that the performance of the 2 ROMs is equivalent. However, you should also try these 2 ROMs to see if the performance is suitable for your device or not. The important thing is that the ROM fits your phone, not its popularity. Thanks.

I'm on stock. In my opinion don't make sense to flash custom ROM on Pixel. That device is really optimized on stock. You never know when Dev stop development ROM. Yes... They always are sure never will be stopped. Many times I heard that and they stopped. I need really stable software to use daily. I used lot of ROMs. Even now official crDroid was stopped for 7pro. So I don't think so is good choice to flash custom if stock is enough optimized. Off course this is just my opinion.

you will not get any extras from custom roms if you switched from official system , users who have xiaomi devices with cutting edge specs but poor software like miui might do so , but you have all the things you want in stock android , you might flash custom karnel for more perfomance and longer battery life ,but stock equals stability and reliability especially for pixels

Don't get me wrong, stock lack a lot of things that make your phone better function
you have magisk and its modules , you have custom kernels that improve battery life and perfomance , what do you want more than that , this can cover the extras you talk about , custom roms that are heavily modified than the rubbish miui skin is a headache , custom roms devs dont care much about tracking and fixing bugs , when you install custom roms you know that there is a deal , you get those useless extras , in exchange for stability and reliability
note , my words applied just for the pixel stock roms , not for third party rubbish like miui and oneui and their brothers

Pixel devices are known for its Stock Pure Android experience.
I see know reason to install a custom rom on a pixel phone as the trade off isn't worth it.
A custom kernel ill probably flash one day but i really want to keep my Pixel Un-Rooted..
