Hi.. I have Sony Xperia (ST21I) with build number 11.0.A.4.27 (android version 4.0.4). Few months before it rooted this phone with a unlock flash tool. I am sure that the phone is rooted now. And i managed to install a Clockwork Mod too with CWM installer.apk file. And tried too boot into clockwork mod. It worked. Now I don't know which bootloader I am having? A locked bootloader or a unlocked bootloader. This question may look silly to people who are really fluent to android. I never carried any process to specifically unlock my bootloader. I am asking this question because I have read that "You can't root your phone without unlocking bootloader". If what i read is true does that mean i am having a unlocked bootloader?? So now is it possible to flash a custom rom for unlocked bootloader? Thanks in advance.
only few roms

You probably have a locked boot loader as bootloader can only be unlocked by a specific key.
I too have a xperia tipo and it can be rooted without unlocking the bootloader. I used unlockroot to root it.
Thanks Guys!!

Hello,
Excuse me for asking such question but I have never Boot Unlocked & Rooted any Sony smartphone so I'm confused here. I have only rooted LG and Samsung before without Unlocking the Boot as it was straight forward process. I have found this tutorial and everything is fine as I have got "Bootloader unlock allowed" in service information which confirms that I can root my Xperia. However when I visit the official website to get my unlock key it says that I need to be on software version 18.3.C.0.37 where my one is 18.6.A.0.175. Do I just use this official website to generate the unlock key and then use the flashtool to do it anyway ? I have use flashtool before but just for flashing the TFT file. Also after I unlock the bootloader how do I install custom recovery mode then install or back up the whole OS ?
If someone would help me I will appreciate your help. :good:
Thank You.
Ok, so right now you don't need to unlock bootloader to root M2 with 5.1.1. (At least not on 2306). Anyway, when you go to official website, they ask for your imei (after selecting your device). And then they give you the unlock code, they tell you how to unlock the BL with such code, with some SDK tools, but i prefer using flashtool since it does the job for me. So, after you open up flashtool, click on the icon that sais "BLU", it will ask you to select your device, you do so. After that it will ask for the unlock code, you put it in and click on unlock. After that it will do a procces, when finished, your BL will be unlocked.
I do gotta tell you, i've unlocked BL for 2 or 3 devices, all of the times everything goes right, exept once. After unlocking BL i ended with a bootloop. So for this case just turn off the phone, and flash any ftf. Bootloader will not re-lock after flashing.

Ok, thanks !
Also why do they say I need a software version 18.3.C.0.37 ? Could it be that their SDK tools require such version where Flashtool works on all of them ? Do you know how I can install custom recovery ? Do I still use CWM Recovery or something new and how can I flash new rom into it ? I have also heard something about emma when flashing rom ?
Thanks a lot for the help, I really appreciate it :good:

Sure no problem, about that i'm not sure, i've never had that android version issue before. For CWM you can get it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/general/d2303-philz-touch-recovery-6-t3047492
Go to where it says "Download recovery" and download latest version (V0.7). Of course you have to be rooted in order to install. After you have root, enable usb debuging on your phone, and enable unkown sources just to be sure. Open the install.bat inside the file you just downloaded and follow the steps.
After you have CWM you can flash roms and other stuff.
hi guys ,
I`ve read this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-how-to-root-mate-9-decrypt-data-t3569986
my ask : Does this rooting goes well with MHA-L29C185B172 ?
if not , then how can i root my device SAFELY ?
thanks all
one, post, no experience with rooting android phones, do NOT root this phone unless there is some important reason to.
do ALOT more reading before you even think about rooting
Thx to reply. Like the others i wanna root to have root apps in my phone ,
Thx . Wanna have apps requires root in my phone . That simple
You don't even need to decrypt if you don't want to.
Unlock Developer Options (Settings - About: tap build number until it says it's enabled)
Go to the Developer Options and enable OEM Unlocking
Unlock bootloader
Flash twrp 3.1.0
Flash SuperSU no-decrypt (https://mega.nz/#!lkV0jbYJ!b1h-5uVksvpt7rw0tRHV7Qxjwk2xkKox0w-iRsCLlbU)
Have fun.
For decryption follow the decrypt guide.
To undo root and relock (Bootloader Locked) flash a stock firmware using the Force flash guide under Guides or use firmware finder).
For Magiskv12 root you need firmware B182+

Original SuperSU 2.79 won't install. We have no loop support in kernel pre-B182. And even with support it doesn't install. The one I linked is a phh supersu hybrid. It uses phh su's method of installing, but installs SuperSU.

Hi. I just happen to come across your post and noticed you said that there is no loop support pre-B182. I have the Chinese version with B213. Some apps, like Linux on Android need, unless something has changed, loop support as well as root. Do you have a reference or a link about the loop support on this phone? Thanks!

Just would like to say that it's not fair to say him that in case that the second entry said: One post on xda and he wants to root!
I think the problem is the order you gave him @ante0 (MAYBE!)
Unlock bootloader
flash TWRP
And I think he now has a BIG problem bc you DIDN'T said or forced him to go into developer settings and turn on OEM-unlock!
@nawraz did you turned on OEM-unlock in developer settings?
if you boot into fastboot mode are BOTH (bootloader and FRP = unlocked (in red letters), or and I really hoper NOT is FRP lock (in green letters)???
Maybe that is now the problem for him, not being able to flash SuperSU?
If you have luck @nawraz then try to flash TWRP 3.0.2-2 and with that SuperSU2.79
If you have root then you can install latest TWRP (3.1.0-1)
If you can't flash anything... oh oh!

He already unlocked and flashed twrp.
3.1.0 installs SuperSU fine. 3.0.3 does not.
And if oem was locked he wouldn't even be in twrp as you can't flash anything with fastboot if it is locked.
But I'll update my post in case anyone does miss to unlock oem.
Hope you don't get me wrong!
Just said that bc I had that problem 5 days ago and the only thing that helped was funky!
I had a softbrick and a reboot always kicked me into eRecovery
I just had eRecovery and fastboot!
Bootloader relocked and frp locked!
Stupid me relocked the bootloader bc I read that you then can unlock oem, then unlock bootloader again!
Well, that was a mistake!

Yeah. Only way then would be to rebrand to C636 using the DLOAD method, then rebrand back to your stock version using the Update thread under Guides. The latter requires twrp though so you'd need to rebrand first to get a working system.
To be honest I just figured he had already unlocked and flashed twrp as he was in the decrypt thread
Missing oem was an error on my side. It was long since I had to unlock oem xD

Weird. I tested with 3.1.0 a few days ago. But I guess it could have to do with builds. 3.1.0 is using kernel for B182. Maybe it's fixed if you use 3.1.0 with B182.
Oh well, good you managed to install it anyway.
Edit: I tested with the SuperSU I linked.

All I know is that it wasn't present in builds before B182.
@st_voss is the one who found out it was added in B182 (Kernel build April. 11th probably as that's what I have on B182.).
It might be present in B181 on C636 as well, that was released 8th of May.

My "Coolpad Note 3" is not booting into recovery mode after Flashing Cool ui 8 V22 Rom & TWRP Recovery. However Normally its booting absolutely fine and its quite stable Rom. But I seriously need to flash TWRP in order to install SuperSU and Xposed Installer. Anyone Please suggest any solution Asap.
(Also My Titanium Backup(Apps+Data) could only be restored after granting root access).

Yes I Have flashed the correct recovery with SP FLASH TOOL (Mtk 6753 Scatter file). It shows that it will boot into recovery mode but again screen blanks and same process repeats.

Yes, it's the same for all android.
adb reboot recovery
This still doesn't work if your bootloader was locked when you flashed your recovery.
If the bootloader was locked, you'll have to flash a copy of your stock recovery.
Then unlock the bootloader, then flash the recovery. It will probably work correctly then.

Yes, those are nandroid backups.
Can you flash the recovery that you used to create those backups? Or is that the same recovery that you're trying to flash now but can't get it to boot?

The device may have came with bootloader unlocked when you got it, but you flashed a stock update Cool UI 8, if that stock update came with a locked bootloader as part of the update package then your bootloader is locked now, and that would still explain why you can't flash or boot to TWRP.
Verify whether the Cool UI 8 v22 firmware itself came with an updated and locked bootloader. It has nothing to do with whether your device came with unlocked bootloader.

I'm not sure about the bootloader, I didn't find anything about unlocking bootloader for Cool UI 8 v22. Does it have a "OEM unlock" setting in system settings? If so, enable it and then see if you can flash/boot TWRP. Try fastboot with the following command:
fastboot oem unlock
But I did find something about how to root your device, if the information is correct. You might be able to root what you have then use FireFlash or Flashify to flash the Xposed Framework and get it working. You probably won't have unlocked bootloader or TWRP though.
But, you also might be able to downgrade to your previous firmware but I'm not sure if that will unlock your bootloader or not. The locked bootloader might not allow you to downgrade your firmware.

I followed this method and successfully get the twrp installed and rooted my device. Thank You So Much To You too For Your Help Dude.
So I first bought my Samsung a11 as an android 10 model,
I then flashed it after I bought it with an open-line android 11 version and got twrp and root. This was a year ago I think.
Now they released the final update for this Samsung phone model, and I want to at least get the latest and last version of my phone.
But I kinda forgot how to do the procedures again.
So my question is does flashing the new android version firmware using odin remove TWRP installed on my device?
my phone model is: A115FXXU2BUJ2 (android 11)
the firmware I want to install: A115FXXU3CV13 (android 12)
if so what do I need to do in order to successfully have both the new firmware I want to install and twrp installed on my device? (i kinda know how to root using twrp and magisk so no problems here)
Any help would be much appreciated!

Yes, flashing the update via Odin will remove TWRP and root, it will also, more than likely, lock your bootloader, then you won't be able to reinstall TWRP or root the device unless you unlock the bootloader, if it can be unlocked.

If the bootloader in the update is a securely locked bootloader, it will probably have locked bootloader after flashing and might not be able to be unlocked. That was the whole point of me warning you in my last post. Now I've had to post again just to say the same thing that I already said. I guess I was talking to the wind.
There is no way to know what the results will be after updating unless you find someone that has already updated the exact same model number of A11 or bite the bullet and update yours then see what you get.

I see, looks like i need to find someone who have done it and see if it works. I didnt get what you mean about after flashing, it might have a chance to lock the bootloader depends on the update. I think ill just try and see what happens. Thank you.
I dont know guys with that phone but there should be a tool that bypass auth and unlock the bootloader in any case. I ONLY knows MTK devices, not sure about that samsung i use a .Bat file.

No, I said that after the update, it could cause the bootloader to be locked and then may not be unlockable from that point on. It depends on the bootloader in the update. If this happens, you will be unable to install TWRP or root via Magisk. That is why you need to confirm whether or not flashing the update will relock the bootloader during the flashing process and, if it does, whether or not it can be unlocked again after the update.
In other words, look at exactly what you are about to jump into before you make the jump because you might land in the one place that you absolutely do not want to land.
