Volume Up Button Sticking - Honor 6X Questions & Answers

Hi,
I've had my phone for only a few months, but now the Volume Up button is sticking.
It stays pushed in until I press Volume Down. This causes the volume to shoot right up to High if I only want to change it small.
Has anyone had this, and can it be fixed?
Thanks,
E

Is it a hardware or software issue?! I didn't understand completely

Hardware issue from what i can read. Well, i think that if you know FOR SURE that your volume button didn't broke for an impact, like a drop for example, you could try one of those spray cans of compressed air that are commonly used to clean keyboards, PC's interiors or other hardware stuff that could suffer due to dusts intrusions between components, like particles of dust that could prevent a sensor to detect a pression on the button (only an example). But if you think that the "support" that stays between the volume up and the internal hardware is broken, it's a different case since that you should open the phone and work on that, maybe replacing the volume button. When you push it, you still hear something like a "click" or not? If yes, the support could still be ok and so it'll be easier to fix, compared to a definitely broke button

Then, send it tl center service OP!

HTC Touch Pro power on button problem

Hi guys, I find this quite annoying and wish there is a mod for this. I don't know about other HTC Touch Pro owners but i find my fone quite sensitive.........it's "EASILY" turned on by a single "SHORT" press of the power button.
I didn't even hold it for 1 second, if i suddenly press or tap on it really quick, for not even a second, it turns on.
In case ppl don't understand and tell me that maybe my fone was on in the first place but just have the backlight off, and with a single tap on the power button, the backlight goes back on again. I knew that already. But what the problem really is, is that it's totally off, and when i tap the power on button, it turns on, i.e it vibrates and shows the welcome screen and all that other startup animation.
Is there a way to increase the delay of the finger-press on the power button? Coz it's so annoying that it gets turned on when i don't want it to, especially since this fone's weakness is that it hogs battery even though i've already applied tons of tweaks etc to lower the performance and increase battery life......
Oh and i have another problem, i find the signal kinda weak, is there a program or tweak to increase the signal?? Coz on my old phone Sony Ericsson W950i, the signal is great and I never have bad signal problems with it. But using HTC Touch Pro, i have this problem. This only happens when i'm at Uni, but it's not like they have bad reception or signal blockers there like how schools or colleges have. Just that when i'm inside buildings and there're tons of other buildings around, i can't send the txt coz of bad signals and it's bloody annoying, but using my W950i works fine.....
also I noticed that when i type a txt message using the hardware keyboard, it seems to fail to send most of the time, but only when i'm in UNI. But if i switch to the software keyboard, the one that you use ur fingers or stylus, then when i send the message it often works compare to using hardware keyboard.......any ideas?
Problem No 1: Try Touch Lock Pro
Problem No 2: Try to burn the newest RadioROM.
thx but i'm not trying to lock my phone, so i don't think TouchLock Pro is what i need.......
My Raphael turns also on after pressing the power button for a little few moment. With touchlock Pro you can prevent that you mistake your Raphael. I hope you can understand what I write in my "own" english
Ok so i've got it installed now and went through all the settings but couldn't find anything that can delay the power-on button press, I still have this problem. The app is a screen-lock app, there aren't any options regarding to power-on delays.......
plz tell me what settings etc to use.
I've never said that you can fix your problem with TouchLock Pro. With this you prevent to use your Raphael when you press your power button accidentally.
ya but that's only useful when my fone is on and it locks the phone but i'm trying to prevent my fone from turning on in the first place if i accidentally press the power on button for not even 1 second, because then it will turn on and i don't want that.
same problem here...the phone I thought I had turned off was back on, because accidently it got touched by something else in my luggage.
The only solution which to me is unsatisfactory, is to take out the battery so that it cannot power up.
C'mon...there has to be a better solution than this, no???

wow yay finally someone else other than me also report having the same problem, boy am i glad to know that i'm not the only one having this problem, i thought it was just something wrong with my fone and not all HTC Touch Pros....
i can't believe there aren't any results on Google, no forum discussions or solutions to this whatsoever. Also, nobody seemed to report this problem or come up with a solution on XDA as well as other forums i use like PPCgeekz or WMusers etc.........which is odd considering how this problem is quite annoying, that if u suddenly power on the fone by accident, it can drain battery life and god knows HTC Touch Pro has a crap battery life.............
I think that htc has done a bad job testing the powerbutton on the tp2.
There are some other things like weith, thikness and batterylife that could be improved but the powerbutton issue is realy a BIG bug.
Why they didn't make a slidebutton or a timeout between push and activation?
A dobble tap on the powerbutton could also be a solution.
The next rom shoold have a improvement about this button.
People, please react on the powerbutten problem so someone can fix this.
Thanx

Leaving the Touch Pro (Raphael) for some minutes without battery will stop the clock. So, when you put back on the battery and power up the device, the clock will display the wrong time. The time when you remove the battery.
This is hardware related.
Can produced different symptoms though.
Facts Behind the Power Button
If take a look at the inside of the powerbutton, there are 2 points making contact when you press the button. If you press it, the software will recognize this and the screen will turn off.
If you press it long enough you'll get the "QuickShutdown" message.
But, if water/alchohol/liquid gets underneath the button, the 2 points may be making contact, because water/alcohol conducts.
The button is very weak. Due to this, it may not properly work if you have used it for a long time.
As a result, despite the fact that you hit hibernate/sleep/suspend on the hardware power button = yes, the screen fades to black. But IT IS STILL ON. That explains the battery being drained.
Solution:
Open the phone hardware. Clean the power button connector manually.

i heart everyone talking about the sleep of death and to be honest, i havent really experienced this, but i definatley do have an intermitent power on and off button problem on my touch pro 2.
i read on some other forum that it could possibly be the slider that is casuing the problem. but to be honest, the button its self feels fine and looks fineand when i does work it works a treat. i havent had any water damage done to it what so ever. so im not sure , i am new too all this self help mobile stuff. so please excuse my ignorance. Ive doen the usual hard reset, button works for a few hours then calls it a day. soft rest, was working up until this week. i cant get ot to boot up again, while fiddling with the batter and a power lead. but the power button is so intermitent its driving me nuts. id be so grateful if anyone could shine any form of light on this. thanks in advance

Remapping keys..

Hey all,
I have a question, that may seem out of the oridinary but it does apply to me.. Ever since i sent my phone to my provider to fix an issue it has come back and the front half of the phone (the screen) has been very loose, when i press the power button i have to pretty much use both my hands otherwise the screen will move slighty and i cant press in the power button to take the phone out of standby..
My question is, would it be possible to remap the power button to something like, say the button in the middle of the phone at the bottom? (in between the answer and hang up buttons). And have it work if i hold it down for a few seconds or so?
I am just getting frustrated when i have to take my phone out of standby to check it and have this issue..
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thankyou!
you could try this: http://www.fuzemobility.com/wake-up-your-fuze-without-the-power-key/
why don't u go take it back to your provider and have them fix what they broke?
Thats an option as well right?
It is an option, only problem is is that they will have my phone for 3 weeks (as they did last time) and i will be without it. They will give me a loan phone but its an old ****ty one and i need email etc. for work so its no good.

Raphael typing issues(keyboard button problems), volume down button stuck

Problems that I cannot find on google. Not sure if it's due to wear & tear. Not sure what's the problem, suddenly having this problem all the time. This phone's slightly less than 1.5 years. Anyone got the same issues? What's caused this? Using it for a year with no problems, problems only arose these 3 months!
Mods installed:
Raphael Keyboard Controller GSM/CDMA v1.4 (mapped quite a few keys to apps)
DredSensor (use it only when i activate manila. Now i dont use manila so it's disabled)
mobileSRC Gscroll (disabled. of no use to me)
1.
Volume down key got stuck, the clicking mechanism is spoilt, but pressing it down very hard & sometimes volume down works. But this is very problematic as i have to press volume up & see the volume control on the screen before i can lower the volume.
2.
Keyboard keys giving problems. (wiring problems? or the button problems?)
Caps lock: double presses although i press it once
Space: Does not space although i press it. works 50% of the time is very frustrating to type!
Backspace: Same as Space
FN: Same as Space but only 20% of the time
Right direction key: Same problem as space!
Help?
Anyone has this issue??
Help
Uninstalled Gscroll & keyboard config. Soft resetted. I only noticed the phone speed increase slightly as the keyboard config takes up a lot of cpu power, and about 10MB of RAM. The keys still are giving me the same problems.
Still facing this issue. Anyone could help?
I have similar issues. Double space-ing, "b" "v" "ctrl" gets doubled or not pressed at all. I thought soft reset would help, but since you already did that, I guess it's

this.
What I am wondering about is whether to try waranty repair.
I have gone through two fuzes with keyboard issues. As long as water tab is fine warranty should work fine for it. My carrier and maybe HTC seem to be in complete control of determining if it is the physical damage (your fault) and null and voiding the warranty.
Anyway your issue would sound hardware related to me. In which case you can try warranty, insurance, or repair. Repair is not as simple as replacing just the keyboard, I believe you need the whole case. Unless I a mistaken that was roughly $140 USD when I tried to find one for myself.
I think I might have found the solution,
The thread mentioned quite a number of people who's keyboard/keys stopped working after they dropped their raphael
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=62876&highlight=keyboard+replacement
Seems like there some wires lying underneath the keyboard (one of them under the center of the keyboard (g, h, v, b keys). Pressing down hard on these keys might press the wire back to it's intact position. I tried that & now my space bar works fine, although the other keys remain problematic..
Let me see if opening up and reconnecting the wire properly would solve this problems..
We should avoid dropping this phone as much as possible, i dont think HTC put much effort into their drop tests, this phone is way too heavy to survive drops Imo

Strange problem

Hello xda,
I have a really strange problem with my Sensation, it's a new phone that I won in a competition by HTC, I received the phone already S-OFF
The problem is that the Volume up button don't work, the volume down, power button, and capacitive buttons all working ok..
But when I reboot into bootloader, The Power button Don't work, the Volume up button don't work, and when pressing volume down it moves the cursor to the up..
So in bootloader, the volume down button acts like a volume up button and all the other buttons don't work.
The question is this problem a Hardware or software problem? what do you think? should I send it for repair?
Thank you guys,
Cheers
PS: I reinstalled a full RUU 2 times with no luck
Sent from my Black HTC One

Try using the buttons without the back case (They look like black plastic (darker than surrounding plastic). Sometimes the back panel could be faulty (at least from my experience). Since you flashed RUU I can assume that it is not software (as it replaces all software/firmware parts on the device). But did you try using a different RUU? Do SuperCID first. Else you might have to bring it to service, because this sounds like a hardware problem (albeit the bootloader part sounds weird).

Thank you for ur reply
I tried with the case off, and yes I triend using a different ruu, and I also think of a hardware problem, but which is really weird is that the power buttons works when running the phone but doesn't work in bootloader !! that proves there is no hardware problem with the button right?
and the volume down key, when running the phone it acts normally but in bootloader in acts like a volume up !!!
that's why I thought of a software problem

Yes... that is possible. But since you switched HBOOT and firmware, it means that it is (probably) not software, as you tried different versions. The buttons may work, but the problem could also be on the board itself. I don't really know how to explain this, but it seems to be the case.
You can try a ROM that assigns action to each key (or find a mod somewhere... I'm sure there is one), and mod the ROM you run to work with Slide To Wake and virtual volume control. That's how you can live even without buttons (unless a solution is found). Also you can flash a touch enabled recovery via fastboot and operate those things with adb. It's not ideal, but it works, and could replace the physical buttons.

Thank you mate,
luckily the power buttons doesn't work only on bootloader, but does work when running the rom, the volume up buttons works also, capacitive buttons work as well, but for the volume down there is no problem I can perfectly live with it, I can adjust volume in settings or just hitting volume up and then sliding the on-screen slider

Glad to be of help (Albeit didn't really give a solution). You can also debug this with a button testing app. I never really looked for one, but I'm sure you can find one if you look for it.

On/Off button and volume buttons "sunk in"?

Hello
I had a Z3 which was replaced by a new one. The replacement device's on/off and volume buttons seem to be more "sunk " into the device compared to that of the original device. Is this a flaw somebody else has also come across? If so, then did Sony fix it for you? It is nothing drastic, but it seems that especially the sound button is almost completely even with the side of the phone's bezel.
Its not normal, Im sure Sony will replace it.
