Effortless updating or unrooting - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi,
I haven't followed the forum in quite a while because I'm to busy.
I'm on Android 6, rooted and I'd like to update the easiest way, without loosing anything.
Could somebody walk me through, what I have to do? I would really appreciate that.
btw, I don't need root on Android 7 for the time being.
Thanks

Just flash the latest Nougat 7.0 stock ROM for your model S7 from updato.com using ODIN 3.12.3 or newer
Use HOME_CSC instead of CSC to avoid a reset
CSC = Factory reset after flash
HOME_CSC = No reset

Hi thanks, that sounds promising. I have a doubt though.
First the updato.com webseite doesnt let my choose a model with any browser.
I went to Sammobile.com and found a couple of roms. Here it comes:
2017-08-24 Germany (Vodafone) 7 G930FXXU1DQH5 G930FVFG1DQH1 YES
2017-08-22 Germany (T-Mobile) 7 G930FXXU1DQH8 G930FDDX1DQF3 YES
2017-08-22 Germany (Congstar) 7 G930FXXU1DQH8 G930FDDX1DQF3
My CSC is XEG, but there are multiple CSCs in Germany:
Germany DBT, DTM, DUT, EPL, MAN, MBC, OXA*, VD2, VIA, XEG
How do i determíne which , if any is XEG. Could i flash the stock rom somehow without flash the CSC, keeping the old one? Or can i get the CSC from another source?
thank you so much,
nearly

samfirm tool will get you the latest a lot quicker than sammobile will

If your CSC is XEG and the firmware is a Multi-CSC containing XEG just grab that one

Don't make like me. I had bad boot's whit MJ6 and bootloader MJ3.
I made a Bootloader-MJ6.tar.md5 whit that TOOL, the 5 files from it, flashed by Odin and now whit Bootloader N9005XXUDMJ6 no more bad boot's.
Conclusion: A Rom must work whit your own bootloader.
Forget my test's please.

At start the phone stop at samy logo, wait, wait, wait, poweroff/on, start, the same wait... sometimes start at 3º power on.
Whit the bootloader from Rom XXUDMJ6 it start quickly at first time. It's all Jean-Paul. You are French?
About my conclusion You must read this:
http://www.samsung.com/global/business/mobile/solution/security/samsung-knox
and:
https://www.samsungknox.com/overview/technical-details
Thanks. Sometimes bootloader can't work with some baseband. Maybe if you don't flash the new modem it works (even if it is not a good solution).
And yes I am french. But my father is from Maia and my mother from Braga

Yes I do! At the end of flashing of this over polish nb3 odin says "FAIL" and system size or something...
Size might be different due to different regions - you could solve this by wiping /system -- however you will need a PIT file to re-partition again.

yes but I was able to flash between PHN and OXX without any issue, why is this DBT being so fickle
Could be any number of reasons, size might be a few kb's smaller or bigger than another build. - built on a different computer etc etc
better wait it out for PHN NB4 then...

Hey i got it to work this way,
I flashed the new firmware and once it failed I pulled the battery out then
restarted it went to download screen and then flashed cf autoroot since my knox is voided anyways and thats how I root to and it booted no problems!
Woo Hoo
but now have a samsung keyboard fc but I can flash a new one easy!
Tried to flash over polish ROM too - failed twice.
Ended up flashing back to Polish ROM - all good again.
I bet we going to have same problem now when BTU Drops.

No problems here. Previously I was running DBT 4.3, then I flashed the first (official!) polish Kitkat. After NB3 came out I flashed that, all without Pit-File and the polish versions I flashed were the one-part firmwares, never the 3- or 4-part ones.
tl;dr: no problems flashing DBT-NB4 over my polish NB3, even reactivation lock was on.
Does anyone have a better mirror other than sammobile? The download there will take me 2 days!

I was also using the single file polish rom. But this DBT would not take over it.
I might try odin 1.85 under pda.
