Touchwiz ROM with only all Google Apps? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Is there any possibility to make a Touchwiz ROM with all google Apps like Google Calendar in place of Samsung Calendar, Google Dialer in place of Samsung Dialer, Pixel Launcher in place of Touchwiz Home but keeping all the essential features like the amazing Samsung Camera, Always On Display, Samsung Health and all the additional things available under Settings?
If you are going to recommend me some AOSP/Linage based ROM, I want to tell you that they either don't have all those amazing Samsung things or fail to utilize all the sensors such as Pedometer, heart-rate sensor and all. If you know some ROM which has all these things, please recommend me.

This could be the base and maybe opengapps as an addition should fit your wish....

Nice! But this is for G930F and my device is G930W8.

[Q] How install the SGS2's camera app ?

Hi everybody,
Before the Nexus S, I'd the Samsung Jet, nice phone with a very good camera application, especially the panorama option.
Unfortunately, on the nexus the camera app is really simple, and I can not find a good application with panorama option.
So I've tried to install directly the camera.apk coming from the SGS2 on my phone, but it seems to be impossible :-(
Anyone knows how I can get it?!
I suppose that it's impossible to install the ROM of the SGS2 directly on the nexus that there are both Samsung's products....
Thanks
Nico
You can't. The Galaxy S2 uses TouchWiz.
TouchWiz 4 needs to be ported onto the Nexus S in order for the camera to work.
This is a PURE Google device.
Thanks for your quick answer
So I need to have TouchWiz 4, if I want to install the camera app....
But I though it was just a launcher, no?!

You need the touchwiz framework not only launcher which is not ported

No. That was not ported, that was just taken from the ROM and put on here. It was just a coincidence that the launcher doesn't rely on the Framework.
All of the Samsung code apps like Phone/Contacts/Browser/Camera/etc all use code from something known as a framework. Without that framework, it won't function. And the framework is specifically designed for THAT particular phone and won't work on any other phone.
The framework is also closed source. So it becomes complicated to port. Is it doable? Yeah.
Would I count on a dev to port it and make it fully working and fast? No.
If you dislike the stock camera, look for alternatives. MIUI Camera (apart of the MIUI framework, Camera 360 (app), etc.
Thanks a lot for your comments.
I've already tried others version of camera but I didn't find yet the good version.

[Q] TouchWiz Features in custom roms

Are the TouchWiz features added into custom roms like CM or slim bean? I don't see anything about the motion features that come with stock touchwiz on the SIII. Are they apps I can flash after installing a custom rom? Would love to use the 4.1.2 slim bean, but not if I have to lose some of the cool motion features (like dialing the contact on the screen by moving the phone to your head).

Touchwiz features do not work without Touchwiz. They are tied into the TW framework. Same as Sense features don't work if you strip out Sense on HTC. Those on AOPK/AOSP/CM are only looking for the speed of the hardware and basic stock Android OS and not the features. There are some 3rd party apps such as camera and wave apps that mimic some of the features you lose depending on if they are compatible with the sensor code.
athe smart alert motion control is the only thing I miss going from TW to AOSP roms.
I almost went back to TW, but I learned to live without them. (it wasnt hard)
Make a nandroid and try slimbean. If you dont like it you can always revert back quickly.

I might do this. There are enough negatives in TW that ditching it for stock will outweigh the positives of TW I think. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks for the answers.
I would really love to find someway to port some of the TW apks to an AOSP rom. The one thing I can't stand is the AOSP contacts. I actually like some of the TW apps such as the messenger, calculator, calendar, and the camera, but I would sacrifice them to run an AOSP rom.
It seems like it should be fairly simple, albeit slightly out of my field of knowledge (although I'll still give it a shot over the weekend) but shouldn't it be as simply as pulling the necessary resources from the TW Framework and baking them into the apks themselves? or is there deeper coding that would need to be changed in order for this to work?
Smart stay and smart alerts I'd like to see portable, if anyone felt so inclined.

How is it possible to run Stock apps on a custom rom?

My favorite rom so far is [ROM]AllianceROM_JB XXLSZ_v3_|_Evolution_of_TW_Custom_ROMs_| DPI switch online. But its only supported on gt-n7000 galaxy note. I have a att galaxy note i717. Is there a way that someone can port this rom to i717 phone.
I'm curious to how this alliance rom can support stock touchwiz apps like s note and s memo and Samsung apps on a aokp rom? I not sure if the rom is aokp, aosp, cm rom. I just know it looks like a galaxy nexus rom. So how do these stock apps run on a galaxy nexus looking rom?
Are there any roms that can support touchwiz stock apps on a jb galaxy nexus looking rom for i717? I just simply want my phone to look like jb nexus (with the cool notifications) but support smemo, s note, Samsung apps, etc on my i717.
Thanks! Really appreciated, I've been waiting for a rom like this.
If you just care about looks, why not just use a launcher like Apex or Nova ? If you want more after that, consider a ROM.
I don't know anything about the ROM you're talking about but from what I can see it appears to be a TW-based ROM - thus the stock apps will work.
I'm using a TW-based ROM on my S3 and stock apps can work along with other native TW features. But if all you care about is the look you would probably need a launcher, anyway - so I'd start with that and then see what you want to change from there.

Thanks alto. I want a little more than just the look. I want the toggles and contacts in the notification center, custom toggles and lock screen, pretty much the jelly bean features. I like the contacts, message, and phone layout on the nexus. I see that aosp, cm, and aokp have that layout. You know any good roms that have what I'm describing but still support s-note, s memo, and Samsung apps? Thanks in advance!

[Q] [Share][Apps]What's your favorite custom camera app?

Let me specify this question - I'm looking for a camera app with lots of advanced options, which is NOT on the play store, but rather is packed on a custom ROM. It can be close to stock, just with a few improvements, too, just list the name of the ROM containing the app (or the thread, if it's not in a ROM). My question isn't device specific, so the only criteria are:
The ROM containing the Camera app should be Jellybean on Kitkat
The closer to AOSP, the better (Which means no touchwiz, sense etc. based cameras, please )
I'm looking for a great, not too far from stock camera app to work with when improving the Galaxy Nexus and it's camera functions

[Q] How does Touchwiz compare with stock Android?

Hi all,
I am contemplating changing my 18month old Nexus 5 for a S6 Edge.
I have used Samsung phones in the past but always ended up flashing stock Android ROM as I couldn't stand the replacement Samsung apps.
My question is, is touchwiz now on par with the stock Androis (Nexus) functionalities?
I am aware that we can simply replace the launcher for Google Now Launcher however how do the core apps compare with the stock ones?
Now with Google putting most of their apps in the Play Store we could essentially replace most of the Samsung apps but:
Does the phone dialer support the telephone number lookup available in the Nexus range (look for a business name to resolve a number, same for incoming calls)?
Does Touchwiz lockscreen support the latest option of smartlock (trusted places and trusted devices) ?
How does Touchwiz manage the notification modes of the stock Android (none/priority/all) and can we schedule a DND time for the night ?
How do the lockscreen notifications appear compare to stock Android ?
I haven't been able to find good screenshots of all the menus present in the S6 to compare the functionalities.
1. No
2. Yes
3. It supports all those modes
4. Similar to stock android depending on what
mhhh ok, sounds like the Samsung customisation still isn't as good.
If running a custom ROM such as CM then you lose the great Samsung camera and the Exynos optimisations and staying with stock Samsung ROM you lose some of the basic stock Android features, there is never a perfect system is there ?!

Samsung has cut down TouchWiz a lot this time around though. The phone is actually fast now.
