Help with camera lens replacement - Galaxy S 5 Accessories

I replaced my shattered camera lens with one I got from Amazon. It had no instructions, so I watched a YouTube from a different seller. I'm not sure if I installed it correctly.
Now, my camera won't focus. Any ideas what the issue could be?

You may have received a defective replacement camera.
I, personally, would recommend that you try to return it for a replacement one due to the one you had received being defective with it inability to focus.
Here's some helpful guides on how to replace the front and rear cameras on the S4.

Thanks. I only replaced the lens (as I has shattered it when doing repairs to my 5th wheel RV). Maybe I need to replace the camera as well.
When the camera app tries to focus, it actually does nothing. It does not go in and out of focus then screw up. Nothing happens. So maybe the camera was also damaged.
Is there supposed to be any physical movement when the camera focuses? Could there be glass fragments blocking the motion? I wouldn't think there is physical movement, but I don't know.

Damage to the lens more than likely had damaged the camera mechanism as well.
It might have just hit the mechanism enough to where the focus piece in the camera was damaged as well.

I've ordered a new camera off amazon. I'll replace that then report back
PS, after a couple of days, a small piece of glass has worked its way out of some hiding place and is now visible under the new lens/glass

You might got a fine glass particle into the camera. When you take the lens off try tap the screen to dislodge any dust. Or use an air can.
To fit the lens - i used a little bit of silicon to ensure adhesion - as the sticky pads the lenses come with arent really that good!

Anyone using VR Glasses with the V10?

Thinking of picking up an inexpensive VR Glass and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations? Our device is a bit heavier than most, so I'm wondering if that is an issue. Thanks in advance!
I used it in one of the Google Cardboards. Didn't attach the straps or anything. It certainly isn't too heavy, would just depend on how good the headgear is.
I compared it with my girlfriend's Note5. The Note5 looks a lot better on its face due to contrast and over saturation (Adaptive Display mode) - certainly not accurate. But the black levels really take it to a whole new level when they are the main focus (e.g. horror games). The V10 LCD screen has an obvious gray being show instead of black. But the V10 is full RGB and not pentile like the Note5, so it looks sharper/less screen door effect.
I have a cheap google cardboard. I have noticed that the magnetic switch won't work in the default position with the v10. In fact I have to move the phone halfway out of my cardboard for the magnetic case to register.
Anyone have a good Cardboard that works well with the v10?
I just ordered some VR googles from ebay (i am not allowed to post direct links, but look for Google-Cardboard-VR-Box-Virtual-Reality-3D-Glasses-for-LG-V10-G4-G3-G2-for-Sony-/181922145874), mainly going to use them for watching movies. I will post the experience with them, once they will arrive.
Cheers!

The cardboard V1 units will not work with the V10.
You have to get either a good plastic unit sized for up to a 6" phone, or get a cardboard V2.
I have multiple V1 units that the phone does not fit in, a V2 that works well, and a Destek VR headset that works perfectly.
The destek unit does not have a button on it and you need to use a controller but it is by far the best experience.
I got the ViewMaster from Target. $30 but sometimes drops to $20.
The v10 fits nicely and the tricgger on the viewmaster works good with the v10
The ViewMaster itself is made pretty well. The front has a tinted plastic piece tjat makes it look a bit more high end like. The material for resting your face on the device is made of rubber and keeps thing comfy

I ordered one of the free Star Wars Cardboard kits Google was giving away a month or so ago with my V10 and it works great.
Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk
i tried the Mattel one.. it was ok but i didnt like the clamp that holds the V10.. it scratches up against the glass, and there is no head strap.. so i returned it.
I also tried the Desktek VR.. It was also ok but the field of view is bad.. like looking through a window.. not immersive at all. So i returned that one also.
I have the Freefly VR on order now, which is a little more expensive but has a wide FOV and really immersive from what I have read.
I got one from Yahoo Bid (an eBay-like website by Yahoo. I guess they only have it here in Taiwan though) for ~$8. It was a bit fragile, but was fixable by staples anyway. Paired with my V10, it seems a bit pixeled, but acceptable. Also, you can catch a glimpse of the second screen if you don't put the phone in the exact place lol.
What software is everyone using for VR?
Shortly after I got the StarWars themed cardboard from verizon I tried Trinus server and Trinus VR Lite to see if I could stream VR from games (only tried with Elite Dangerous so far) on my PC. Other than still needing a head strap and padding I felt like it was promising but I just couldn't get the lens calibration quite right and the image quality seemed terrible.
A couple weeks later I saw that the dev had released a standalone VR demo game using Unity. When I tried it I actually felt like I got the settings perfect but they seemed wrong when I plugged the same lens calibration numbers into the the streaming server.

The freefly is really nice.. best VR viewer i have tried so far.. the only thing i cannot get working is the magnet setup.. i rigged a cardboard style magnet setup on it but the V10 still isnt recognizing the magnet field.. i wonder if the compass/magnometer is working correctly..
Update: I found the sweet spot for the V10 magnet.. works great now.
Sometimes the lenses fog up if you dont have a lot of airflow also, but I definitely recommend the Freefly over the other cheaper units..
Where was the sweet spot? It worked once for me, and now I can't get it working again.

What VR viewer do you have?
For the V10 and the freefly I put the magnets inside the left eye lens.. the front lower area so the magnet is closer to the front camera area on the V10.. that is where it always picks up the magnetic field changes..
I have a nicely built one from eBay. VR BOX V.2. It reminds me of the gear vr (had it for a few months)
That said...what I tried to do with the Google cardboard app looked terrible. Was very disapointed in my v10 in VR mode.

Hi,
So I got one of these in the mail and there is no obvious way to trigger the interface. They include rubber pads to use phone buttons on the sides but......there are no buttons' on the sides of the V10. Am I missing something?

I'm guessing like using it to touch the screen?

I'll take sharpness over "true black" anyday, especially when the screen is 2" from my face. **** pentile.

But screen distance is not everything. The lenses play a large role in this. which is how Oculus is making the Rift look a lot better than its predecessors - more advanced lenses. Since my last post, I went back to the Note5... and got a GearVR. With the GearVR, the pentile arrangement is only noticeable if you are looking for it, AND have a solid color where a single pixel is being used to illuminate it (e.g. pure red). The gap in the pixels becomes a little more pronounced. But trust me man, OLED is the future. I couldn't bear the LCD on the V10 any longer since I have a 4K OLED TV. OLED is the only thing I can look at now.
I use freefly VR. Awesome field of view. 120 degrees! Our phones fit in it no problem. Mine came with a small bluetooth controller which satisfied the lack of a "click" button. Also, you can use a small kitchen magnet to simulate a click if you need to. Just tap the back of the phone with the magnet and it'll work. We arent talking about a huge powerful magnet either. Just a normal refrigerator one.

help me find my perfect phone

got an s8+ before the summer.....good phone, waterproof, good battery....but i'm not taking to it at all...hate the tall 18:9 aspect ratio and the on screen navigation keys.

need it to be ip68 waterproof
need an fm radio
need optical stabilisation on the camera
need an sd card slot
need hard capacitive navigation keys rather than on screen
need a battery life thats not poor.
all them things are commonplace on phones these days, but i'm finding it hard to get all that on one phone.

Galaxy Note Edge N915T internal contacts / pins

Greetings;
My apologies if this is asked-and-answered, but I can't seem to find any information regarding the internal contact pins inside the N915T.
There is an L-shaped group of pins below the SD card slot. The only pins in the Mugen battery/Qi kit I have for it go to the lower two pins - I presume they connect the Qi coil to the phone's charge-circuit - but I don't know what the other two are for. There is also a pair of pins to the right of the camera assembly.
If anybody knows what these pins do, I'd really like to know.
Thanks!

I don't have this device but, you do have an opinion to purchase the Samsung Factory Service Manual (SM-SMN915T) that should have what you're looking for.

That is more than likely hardware damage, the camera hardware itself or the camera lens is probably damaged. Scratches or nicks in the glass covering the camera lens, would cause these artifacts to appear in your photos. One of my devices has a scratch that appears as a blue line in photos taken with that device.
Yours looks like granular nicks or scratches in your glass, probably caused by contact with sand at some point.

Galaxy S8 Camera Yellow Circle Distortion

Ok so I'll try and explain this the best I can...
My camera with my S8 has a yellow circle that will focus on the face. Problem is, when its circled my face it makes it bigger(like fatter/wider) then smaller(skinnier/more narrow) and when it finally settles its either made my face look super wide or super skinny, distorted. It happens EVERY time I use my front facing camera and its a toss up which way it will go each time.
I couldn't find anything online describing what I've got going on...but from what I have gotten is that its the cameras focus I'm talking about, not some extra app I've downloaded. Is there any way to turn it off or change the settings?
