HTC U11 Files Transfer Issues - HTC U11 Questions & Answers

Hello guys,
I am facing an issue with my HTC U11 USA Factory Unlocked-64GB.
The issue is that whenever I connect my phone to the computer and when I try to transfer data between the PC on PHONE it always gives me this error "The attached device is not functioning".
FYI, I can access everything on the mobile through the PC but can't transfer anything.
I tried on windows 10, 8 and even 7 and I get same error on all of them, please anyone has a solution for this just help me how to fix it.
Also, my Mobile was on stock ROM and now on custom ROM >> LeeDroid V2 and same error on both ROMs.
Thanks in advance.

Try to install HTC drivers or HTC sync.
Check before that no other USB HTC drivers are installed

Thanks sir for your concern, I think I figured out how to transfer or copy the backup from android device to PC.
I thought earlier that it could be done by simple copy and paste but I was wrong as it should be done through ADB and by typing a special command and the phone should be booted into TWRP's recovery mode
Anyways, thanks for your reply and hope that could help anyone else with the same issue.

[Q] HTC HD7 Diag Mode and Zune need some help

This mode was accidentally entered when I'm trying to boot my htc hd7 and press camera button together with volume up (around 20sec while the phone booting). For your information, my htc hd7 having problem with zune application and my device manager recognize it as unknown devices (yellow exclamation mark).
It was caused when I've sideloading USBModeSwitch.xap and change from ZUNE to DIAG mode. After the phone restarting, the apps has been revoke then i've no chances to install the apps again to fix it back to ZUNE mode.
Now the phone can operate as usual but cannot recognize by zune (yellow exlamation mark in device manager in PC).
The good news is, the phone had recognized by pc when entering this mode. and the devices manager detect the phone under Portable Devices -> Schubert. Can we sideloading apps using this mode? If yes... it was a good news for those having the same problem with me. But the question is.. HOW.
Note: After the incident, I already flash the phone. but still unable to be detected by ZUNE Desktop in normal state. it can operate, can install from market place as usual but cannot sync with zune desktop. Can somebody help me on this? Sorry for my English. You may refer with my attachment for the images and the XAP application.
Note 2: Never try the USBModeSwitch.xap if your phone is not fully unlock or will facing the same problem with me. hope someone can fix this issue. because lot of friends are stuck in this doom.
same problem here....
an hd7 too...
First, are your phones unlocked? I assume they are. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to deploy this USB-whatever.xap.
You may try deploying smth after running WPConnect (Phone has to be connected already). This small consoleapp does some funny stuff with the phone/PC connection. So maybe your devices will be recognized this way.
Best you start WPConnect from commandline, to have a look at the output, which should be smth like "[Devicename] successfuly connected..." or such.
C~
tried it, doesn't help
the phone is not unlocked anymore... that is the problem in my case ;-)
but i was able to install the HTC Diagnostic Drivers...
but i dont know if i can use it to disable Diag-Mode...
And you are not able to re-unlock your phone (via official or Chevron)? Have you tried to unlock after connecting - closing Zune - running WPConnect?
This is just a mere guess, but hey, who knows it maybe work
we cannot lock our devices as neither zune nor WPConnect realize that the phone is connected (because of it is in Diagnostic-Mode)
but thanks for your reply ;-)

Yup that's true. I try to used ansar ROM, flash it, but nothing change. I wonder if we can custom a rom and implement the extract file of USBModeswitch.xap to the rom. so that the phone will boot with usbmodeswitch installed in it, using this step, we're able to switch the mode from diag back to zune.
This the final technique might can help for now. For the ROM, i can only break/extract until I've got the 2 OS file:- 2_os.nb.extra (±2.4MB) and the other one is 2_os.nb.payload (±181MB). Ok, until then, I was stuck. if not... we can extract the XAP directly to the OS folder, then repacking back the ROM. the 2_os.nb.payload file was unable to extract to bin file. Error shown:- "no boot partition". Maybe I'm using the old WinMo tools to extract it.
ahhh.... gosh... stuck in this step. any help and guide will be much appreciated.

Hi,
from your writing i can read that you have the needed knowledge to make this thing...
so how long do you think will it take to get the two files...
and if you get these files, how can we flash that ROM without HSPL or SSPL?
thanks for your answer ;-)
our problem is... there's still no kitchen for WP7 (temporary). So.. we have to wait Da_G or Ansar.Ath.Gr work. they might have some tools that can help us. I knew.. lot of our friend already stuck in this mode as well. So... there's no sync with zune for us... no music transfer via usb.. and we have to forget all the thing that we can do using the USB cable except for charging it. lol~ how sick...
yeah...
i can only listen to radio in the morning when i drive to school...
i hate the most of the breakfast-shows
i have another idea instead of waiting for an C-ROM...
but that is only possible with a clean, Chevron-Unlocked and USB-Switch installed WP7 phone...
so nothing personally...
and we need to wait for the update...
the whole clean system would be backed up and could be used for our WP7 devices to get the USBSwitch-App onto our phone (holding camera-key when starting to install backup)
would be great if there is anybody who makes it...
hi
ask the autor of this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922000
maybe he can help ,his tool use usbmodeswitch.
im active in his thread too, but he didn't answer at all...
I have actally done this myself sadly the only option I had was to sync all my contacts with Windowslive and reset the HD7 by holding both volume keys while powering it on from a cold boot.

can you tell me what rom was on the phone and what rom you flashed After you F*****up your phone ?
I want to know what Radio was on it , I think that tool does something with the radio rom on the phone , it could help the flash an older rom using a goldcard with an older radiorom in it.
edit:
maybe it is the spl , try to flash a rom with a lower/higher spl number.

[SOLVED] Fastboot USB not working

Hello,
I got a strange problem: my phone does not accept adb or fastboot commands sent from my pc anymore. The screen says FASTBOOT when connected in fastboot mode to the pc, but the USB appears only after I move the cursor up or down (push the volume button up or down).
The command line on windows states "Waiting for device...". The driver seems broken. In Device Manager (Windows) it says "Other devices -- Android Phone" with an exclamatin mark. A driver update fails.
I am running CM alpha 12 on a HTC One S (S4). The phone was not connected to my pc while on stock. The Android SDK is installed on the pc and up to date.
The phone is running fine besides the lack of usb access in any way. Charging works fine.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Burkhard
I had the same issue too. I wantet to push a recovery and my pc could not find my device. I reinstalled htc sync and then found the drivers in c:/programs/htc/sync drivers
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
SOLVED
I'm delighted it worked. Thank you. I should have tried this before, but I did not think of installing HTC sync. Will keep that in mind.

[Q] HTC Inspire Red Traingle Exclamation Won't reset

Hello,
I was reading a thread on someone who had the exact same issue, but no solution was ever posted.
Here's the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458066
Background - this is a friends HTC Inspire, no rooting or anything was attempted, factory untouched phone bought new from AT&T.
Turns on, eventually goes to a 2 green arrows in a circle around a phone and then to a red triangle with red exclamation point over a black phone. I can hold the volume up and power to reset or wipe cache, neither does anything. Comes back to the same screen. says:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
-- Wiping data...
Formatting /data...
E:Can't open /data/cwpkg.zip
E:Can't open /data/cw.prop
E:Can't open /cache/cwpkg.zip
E:Can't open /cache/cw.prop
Formatting /cache...
Data wipe complete
Doing a boot holding volume down and power shows this info:
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL

MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.10.04.03_M

HBOOT
I tried formatting the sd card and using recovery and stock rom to load, nothing worked, as if not recognized. The sd card had data on it(which was accessible), which I transfered to the computer before formatting.
Any ideas? I have never used an android device but I've been reading through this forum and others for hours now... phone is outside of warranty now too, so that's no longer an option. Thanks in advance.
Devin
It failed during the update to the current rom version or was reset/lost power during update. Use a pc to download the most recent ruu update for the inspire from HTC. Then download and install htc sync on pc. Place phone into fastboot mode with sd card inserted and then plug into pc. Run ruu from pc. Data will be lost but phone will be usable.

So Gizmoe, I am in the same boat as original poster. I downloaded the correct ruu from HTC , but PC won't recognize phone. Point of clarification
When you say "place phone into fast boot mode" does that mean just connect to PC at that point or do I shut phone down and then connect. I've been going bonkers since ATT pushed software update and bricked the phone.
Thanks for any advice.

Ok, we'll I got it into fast boot USB mode, plugged in USB to PC, ran exe ruu file (which takes forever btw) and then got connection error. Ruu application then exits. Must be something hosed up in the phone with drivers. Bummer
I just checked Windows devices and it is showing as a "Device failed enumeration" error. Trying to troubleshoot that but have my doubts right now. I did notice that when I connected it earlier today PC saw it as G drive for a split second and then it dropped.

Do you have HTC sync installed and running?
Hi Gizmoe. Well I have HTC Sync but I didn't think I needed to have that running. I just ran the ruu exe file, but got connection error. I just tried HTC Sync with phone in fastboot usb mode but HTC Sync can't see it. Version of HTC Sync is 3.3.63. The other thing I noticed is that if phone is off and plugged into PC it is recognized as a removable device with a G: drive letter in device manager, but doesn't show up in file explorer and running exe or HTC Sync still can't see it.
If it's connected when it's in fastboot usb mode then windows says "last device connected malfunctioned " and PC doesn't see it.
I'm in this catch 22. Tried to do recovery process to install a ruu off sdcard which errors out, and can't install ruu from pc since phone usb connection not recognized.

UPDATE: I decided to just try the recovery method again while the phone was plugged into USB cable just to charge it. Well it downloaded the latest HTC version of the ROM and it installed....YEAH, BUT phone thinks it's a Desire , not an Inspire and the IMEI MMEI etc. info is missing. No connectivity to mobile network. And I don't have keyboard function either. Sooo, I think I will try another ruu and see if that works starting from scratch. I guess I'm still missing some files or steps in this process. I used to be in the PC business and thought they could be convoluted, but cellphones take the cake.

Yes they do. Just an fyi the desire and inspire are exactly the same device and HTC left the inspire name out of the build prop. It will say it's a desire HD, so that's normal. The rest isn't though. Yeah I would try the ruu again. Just make sure HTC sync is installed and running. You can run it from the phones os too.

Gizmoe, thought I'd give you the latest update: I was able to finally get the PC (Win8) to recognize the phone by installing HTC Sync 3.3.63, installing Win7 64bit drivers.
Then I downloaded RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_Cingular_US_3.20.502.63_Radio_12.69c.60.29U_26.09.13.17_M_release_335423_signed from HTC site. This is an exec file.
Got phone into USB debugging mode, fastboot off , charge only, and ran the above RUU. Seemed to be working as it asked if I wanted to update etc. and warned about losing data. Said ok and RUU exec then popped up status window saying "Waiting for bootloader......................"
This ran for a few minutes and then Windows popped up message saying last USB device connected failed. Then RUU exec finally popped up and said Connection Error 171. No choice but to exit program. This has happened twice. Very annoying. Took forever to get PC to recognize phone and now I'm still stuck with a brick thanks to ATT.
Any thoughts ?

UPDATE:
SUCCESS !! :good: Well it only took a boatload of patience and a 7 yr. old laptop running XP to get the phone re-imaged. Process was sloooow (about 30 minutes) but all drivers loaded and the stock ROM from HTC installed fine. Phone is now back to operational. Turns out I didn't lose contacts since they were apparently backed up in Google account. (YEAH) Now I just have to manually install 4 more small security patches from HTC. Their website isn't too clear as to how to do this but I'll muddle thru it.
Thanks Gizmoe for your help and suggestions. You are right I would definitely recommend that anyone trying to root, recover or re-image from scratch an Android from a PC to avoid Win8 at this time and stick with Win7 or XP.
Help me please!

A PD98IMG is a way to install various things but requires an s off device. It is not a method to acheive s off. What exactly is the problem you are having? Are you not able to boot your device? If you are still stock, run the current RUU from HTC through fastboot as explained in previous posts in this thread.
HTC bootloader problem
Gizmoe, I am joining this group, I have the same problem, followed all steps. my problem is that RUU during the process sends msg to phone to reboot and start Bootloader my phone reboots and stays with white screen / green HTC logo (freezes?) RUU after waiting for Bootloader returns error 171 connection problem. My guess is that bootloader is not starting and RUU times out and thinks that it is connection problem.
Uninstalled sync and reinstalled latest version, deleted and re downloaded latest RUU. System recognizes phone ( device manager shows HTC). Any suggestions? Thanks.

Yeah there seems to be a communication issue. Try putting phone into fastboot. Make sure phone reads fastboot usb. Then run RUU. There may be programs in pc as well blocking it. See if you can send fadtboot commands if the aforementioned method doesn't work. If that's how you already tried running it then run it from booted phone.

The problem stems from the x64 version of Windows either Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 has an incompatibility issue of HTC sync drivers. I have tried the latest HTC sync driver on Windows 8.1 x64, ADB is working fine; but fastboot has caused a problem even on the PC itself. Internet tethering is alright. However, I have never tried internet pass through.

Help my xperia z3 please!!! cant connect xperia z3 to pc

my os is marshmallow, and i have try using different cable and it doesnt work (
please someone help me to fix this (
Maybe try the solutions mentioned here:
https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/how-to-fix-unknown-usb-device-port-reset-failed-issue/
(the ones you didn't try already of course).
It seems to be a Windows 10 problem so try to check your device with another (preferably not Win 10) PC if you have access to one.

Sry to hear but if it is a driver problem, the only solution would be to manually install the right drive package (64bit in your case probably). If you aren't to, you'd have to unlock bootloader to flash a rom etc which means losing your data.
BUT if you just want to get data from your phone why don't you upload it to something like Dropbox or Google Drive. Or for a direct push try Pushbullet (App for Android and program for Windows, set up with same account) and you can just send those files.

Thanks before, can you give me link for driver Xperia z3 64bit? I cant unlock bootloader if my device isn't detected by computer not for data only, i need charge from laptop if in emergency situations
I did it like 3 years ago so don't know if those links are still working but I did it with those two guides (one is German though):
https://www.randombrick.de/sony-xperia-z3-fastboot-unter-windows-mit-den-richtigen-treibern/
For the manual installations of the driver:
https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/129174/windows-10-fastboot-driver
Direct link to fastboot driver:
http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/fastboot-driver/
Hope this helps.
EDIT: You can also try with the driver installation with flash tool, but you have to disable the windows signature verification check (google, there's loads of tutorials).
