My Mi5s Plus has a strange touch screen behaviour: when I tap something and then slowly release my thumb from the screen, the touch screen seems to "feel" my finger until I move it 1-2 millimiters away from the glass. Basically, the touch screen works even if my finger isn't touching physically the glass, but only after touching the screen first (kinda like the glove mode on some Samsung phones, but not really).
That behaviour is really annoying especially scrolling because it feels like I'm scrolling "too much" because of the higher sensitivity my touch screen has.
I've tried both SGS Touch Screen Booster and editing the build.prop file adding this:
Code:
debug.performance.tuning=1
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=200
view.touch_slop=2
view.scroll_friction=1.5
view.minimum_fling_velocity=25
ro.max.fling_velocity=12000
ro.min.fling_velocity=8000
ro.min_pointer_dur=8
touch.size.calibration=geometric
touch.size.scale=100
#touch.size.bias=70
touch.pressure.calibration=amplitude
touch.pressure.scale=0.3
and tweaking values, but nothing seems to change.
I'm using LineageOS (latest release) right now, but I experienced this "bug" on MIUI too, although I haven't tried the latest release.
Hope somone can help me!
Kind regards
EDIT: for whatever reason, the behaviour occours even on recovery (TWRP) so I guess it's an hardware issue
Sadly, it's probably a hardware issue as you assumed. You may try to check the connection cables.

Is there in WM6 a registry entry to increase the sensitivity of the touchscreen, because the touch function works quite poor.
thx
have you tried to clean or change the protector of that screen. I had the same problem before, and after remove the protector and clean very well the screen, that doesn't repete.
Just don't expect the same sensitivity that you see on a lot of the newer phones. They use capacitive touch screens where as the wizard is a resistive touch screen.
I just bought the Fuze. The screen looks awesome. However I am having a problem where the touch screen is very unresponsive. I find myself having to tap the screen two or three times to get it to react. For example, I have to tap the Windows icon a few times before the menu opens. I also find that pressing harder on the screen with my finger or stylus makes it react a bit better as well. I shouldn't have to press that hard however. I never had an issue like that on my Kaiser.
Was wondering if anyone else has this problem. Could it be an unoptimized OS or video driver? Any way to adjust the sensitivity of the touch screen? Basically, I want to know if this might be an OS issue vs. a hardware issue.
I hate to return such a nice phone because of how unrepsonsive it is.
BTW, I am using ROMeOS v1.4.
Thanks for any inputs.
Its probably not defective in anyway. The fuze screen is a resistive screen, not a capacitive screen (the iPhone), so you do need to press a little harder. You can install the advanced config app and/or the TF3D customizer app to change the screen sensitivity. I have it on my fuze and it does make quite a difference.
FYI you need .NET compact framework 3.5 in order for advanced config to work

Thanks for the reply. What setting did you use?
I just use the TF3D config with performance setting #4, which is the screen sensitivity one, I believe. I find that to be the best setting. The other thing you might wanna try, even though it may seem obvious, is realign the screen. that could cause some problems.
Screen Not Responsive
my screen has become unresponsive over 75% of the time. same w/stylus or finger. already adjusted sensitvity through Advanced config tool, and Diamond tweak. try to re-align screen, and most of the time, screen does not even recognize the taps. This happened on previous one I exchanged. HELP ! !
Do you have a screen protector on your device?
I noticed that my Touch Pro was very unresponsive until I got rid of the stock screen protector and used it bare-screen
Try the second cab in this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=469865
It drastically increases sensitivity for our pleasure--i felt that it does a better job than TF3D and Advanced Config. There may be an issue with your ROM--my old Tilt would lag on me dependent on the ROM even when the programs installed were identical. Currently using NATF's.
Screen Not Responsive - fixed
Wow ! !, I never would have thought it was the screen protector. I took it off, and it works great. thank you to TehPenguin. maybe it needs to be changed more often, or use a different brand.
That, was my second guess...but seriously, try the cab...
If you're using a snap=on case that can also cause the screen to stop responding. I was using a very cool looking red snap-on case I got from ebay. I got home from work today pulled out my phone to do something and it was completely unresponsive. I finally took off the case and it worked fine.
Has anyone found a way or believe it is possible to control how sensitive each button on the touch cover is? I presume the software just sees it as a giant flat surface, and then maps presses in specific areas to button presses. So I guess really you would be saying to the software that touches from this specific area of the cover we are going to accept at a lower pressure.
What I want is to be able to increase the sensitivity of the spacebar area. I feel like when typing from my lapt or any other non solid surface that I really have to hit the spacebar for it to register, where as the rest of the buttons feel spot on.
Thoughts?

It's funny you mention that, because I have more or less the same issue, but with the Shift keys. I always miss the Shift key and hit either below it or I don't hit it hard enough. I want to prevent that from happening because it can get kind of annoying. Great question.
Your assumption is not actually true, by the way - different parts of the cover have different sensors, or no sensor, under them.
I've found hitting the spacebar with my left thumb way more reliable than with my right. Not sure why, and since this isn't my default style, it currently slows down my typing. Also, if I remember to hit further upward on the bar, it works better. It's sensitive all the way down to the top of the trackpad, but it's either more sensitive closer to the other keys, or something about my hand geometry makes me naturally hit it better when I hit further up.
I always found the sensitivity to be a bit low for my taste and I can't get over this particular sensitivity level still. Since it's software that interprets presses, there could be a registry key for that. Microsoft should make it a setting.
Anyway, I'm also starting to experience a bigger problem - certain keys' sensitivity degrading. Now it takes considerably more force for such often used keys as A and S to register compared to the rarely used ones. While it takes an okay amount of pressure for a "devices" button to register a click, I have to stab the A for it to register. And I think it will get worse.
P.S.: I type quite a lot though wouldn't go for the type cover because touch cover is more aesthetically pleasing and good enough as a keyboard if worked correctly, up to it's potential.
Also, I think most people would appreciate autocorrect on the touch cover.
Removing tempered glass fixed unresponsive touch for me. But in previous betas touch worked good even with tempered glass so this is temporary solution.
Is the responsive touch you're having means the screen somehow doesn't register any touches until you lock and unlock your screen for a temporary fix?
Or perhaps the nav buttons or the middle screen somehow are not registering?

Since .29 update touch in the middle does not register taps/swipes when phone stands on flat surface. And generally touch responds weaker in the middle of the screen. They/devs lowered touch sensitivity. I discovered it works fine without tempered glass, but it worked fine even with tempered glass on previous betas. I hope tommorow new beta will be released with touch fixes. I cannot use phone without tempered glass, risk of breaking the display is very high (I would have broken screen already if I had not have tempered glass on).
I got a kernel with these new touch drivers and it's horrible indeed. Haven't tried to remove the screen protector tho.
When i was on stable 10.6.0.0 the touch was perfect even when i buy my phone on miui 9 never face any touch issue but when i move to 8.1.29 i had touch issue on home screen its swipe left when i touch the deck icons

On stable miui there is edge touch lag when you type really fast. For example very fast typing "al" results "la" because touch on the left edge is registred slower than in the middle. So typing very fast a + k/m/l is registred as k/m/l + a. They fixed that on beta but broke other things... If you don't type really fast, than touch is perfect for you on stable.

I dont face this kind of issue before my phone dont have this kind of issue i see problems only when they start to make change touch drivers
Hopefully at the end they will make everyone happy.
It seems that touch is fixed in 8.12.7. I will report back if I find new problems.

Successfully update to open beta 8.12.7 via OTA (Locked Bootloader). Following are the observation :-
Good news :-
1) With the update 8.12.7 touch latency of keyboard is is minimized to a great extent but not fully gone.
2) 960fps and night mode is working.
3) Status Bar icon flickering is gone.
4) For me there were no screen flickering issue before the update nor after the update.
Bad news :-
1) Touch recognition near bezels (around 1mm from edges) is still not improved.
2) Youtube Vanced can't be played in picture-in-picture Mode when using full screen gesture.
3) Sometimes Back gesture in full screen mode doesn't work when any apps folder on home screen is open (it was also a bug on 8.11.29).
2) Youtube Vanced can't be played in picture-in-picture Mode when using full screen gesture.

I know that but still it's a bug that should be resolved.
Good morning,
For several weeks I have been observing and unfortunately the problem appears more and more often, the disappearance of the touch of the display ...
I am right-handed, so I use the phone a lot with my right hand on the right edge - at the height of my thumb, the connection between the keyboard and the communicator, once in a while my touch in the area of the p/0 and park buttons above - also other keyboard buttons do not work properly, keys next to it.
I use Swiftkey but never had a problem with it - could it be the keyboard that's the problem?
hardware issue, send it in for RMA asap
RMA u mean to samsung support?
Hi,
Samsung support is very stubborn (compared to dell which is very pro-customer).
I received the following advice:
1. Turn off the phone, enter the android menu and clear the cache - done.
2. Through samsung members, attach the error log from the phone and report the problem - I did.
I wonder what Samsung's next steps will be.
I have had the phone since October 22.
The problem with the screen appears more and more often.
*video* In the attachment I leave a video that scrolling (of a previously loaded page) just at the moment when the display goes crazy - as you can see (touch trace) I try to scroll in a classic way by moving my finger on the screen, but the page moves only as much as I move my finger, as if something somewhere causes an additional touch to stop scrolling. As you can see in the next part of the video, it improves for a while and then the same thing again.
Anyone had similar? How did it end?
Thanks greetings.
