ASUS USA Website : Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra no longer on the list of phones? - Asus ZenFone 3 Ultra Questions & Answers

Has anyone checked the ASUS USA Website recently?
Went to the site to see if theres new update for Ultra and its no longer on the listed phones on the site
Does anyone know alternative site to check for new updates?
Thank you

afaik, there never was a 3 Ultra sold in the US, but rather you had to buy a British / Australian model (for English) - & it doesn't have LTE radios natively active in the phone. HSPA+ data speed is a fair trade-off because the phone is really nice in every other regard .

thank you got a brain fart and went to the US site got aeverything figured now
Thank you so much

[Q] Buying from Oppomart?

So the OnePLUS One is available on Oppo mart but has anyone purchased it through this method? I am very curious as to how legit it is and whether the experience was good. Thanks for any advice.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2770622 it is a pre-existing thread with a lot of pages in regards to what you're asking about.
Be wary though, I'm pretty sure that the Chinese OPO (which is what Oppomart is selling) is not compatible with LTE on carriers that use LTE bands 4 and 17.
You will need to buy the International version (Says Cyanogen on the back of the phone) in order to have those bands.
I have a opo from oppo mart. In the us I get hspa+ on tnobile but no lte. Its not that bad I like it. Feeds my needs with no problem.

[Q] Gearbest showing different (more) supported LTE bands than official Asus site?

According to the official specs from Asus, the Zenfone 3 Ultra supports LTE bands 1/3/5/7/8/18/19/20/26/28. However, they also state "ASUS phone 4G/LTE band compatibility varies by region. Please check compatibility with local carriers If intending to use your ASUS phone outside the original purchase region".
According to Gearbest's page for this phone, it supports LTE bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/18/19/20/26/28/29/30.
Is Gearbest getting their version of the phone from a non-standard region, or is their info page incorrect?

You should reply and have them test it on tmobile and or Att.
I can't wait for this phone to work in the US. I'll have a blast learning development on it.

[Q] Questions for anyone in the U.S. who has ordered one of these phones...

Any issues with Customs delaying the delivery or worse, not allowing it into the country at all?
If you have actually received it...
Which telco are you using it with and how is the 3G speed?
Any language issues (menus/options only available in Chinese, etcetera)?
Any issues with call quality (dropped calls, broken/stuttering audio, etcetera)?
I, personally, cannot answer these question, but some information in this video may provide you some answers

The video you linked is for the Zenfone 3, and not for the Ultra. They are very different devices, so I would not consider the information there to be relevant.
However, one of the "Up Next" links YouTube gave me was for an unboxing of the Ultra, and that video (along with some others from that same reviewer) answered most of my questions (the reviewer mentioned difficulties importing the device, but gave no details). That video can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYLEkWVZLeU
Any issues with Customs delaying the delivery or worse, not allowing it into the country at all?......no problem
If you have actually received it?.....yes last monday (9/12)

Don't know if this will help you. This is assuming you have an unlocked Asus Zenfone 3 ultra. Don't know what area you are in either.
I have an Asus Zenfone 3 ultra (zu680kl). Purchased it new thru Never-Msrp, out of Houston, Texas, off of EBay. So I had no custom fees. It cost me around 593.00. It's unlocked, so I purchased Cricket's Bring Your Own Phone Plan. They are owned by AT&T, so they use their towers. I have no problems getting 4g/LTE. Calling, reception , and internet download speeds are very good.
I had an unlocked HTC 10, that I gave to my wife. She uses Cricket also and I do not see much difference in calling, reception, and internet download speeds, even though the HTC has a little faster download speeds. Which probably due to the HTC having a better processor. But over-all, very happy with the Asus Zenfone 3 ultra. To be fair, I have only had the phone 3 weeks. So time will tell more. I have never used T-Mobile since they are not in my area. So I can not speak to their 4g/LTE on this phone. Just know that Cricket (AT&T) works very well on the BYOD plans. Hope this info may help you or anyone else. XDA has always been good to me. So I just wanted to share this information.

Just a side note to my own comments. I was incorrect when I said I have 4G LTE (this is what Cricket Wireless calls it) on this phone. It is probably just 4G ( Cricket Wireless calls it) or less. I checked the download speeds against my HTC 10 (on Cricket Wireless, their speeds are capped by AT&T). 3 Mbps for the Asus and 4-5Mbps on the HTC 10. They say I should get more, closer to 8Mbps ( the top cap speed ) on the HTC 10, but I'm not far from a tower and I have never gotten more than 5Mbps and more time than not, I get 4Mbps. The 3Mbps is probably due to Asus themselves and not the Phone's technology. I suspect when I root this phone once Asus gives the unlock code for the bootloader, that I will be able to get faster download speeds after some tweaks.

Is it assured that Asus will allow bootloader unlocking? I'd love to run stock Android on this.

Me too. Would like to try AOSP, Miui, and CM roms on the Ultra (ZU680KL). I'm hopeful, since they just came out with unlocking the bootloader on the on the Zenfone 3 deluxe model.
Wonder if anyone knows If bootloaders are always device specific or if they could be the same with other models. For instance, Zenfone 3 deluxe and Ultra models.
My bootloader knowledge is not very good. I've always rooted my previous devices, but always had really good support from doing so by following XDA information on those previous devices owned....
Anyone who has this phone in the USA... I read that Asus provides a 2 year warranty if you register the phone??? Does anyone have any information about that? What's covered... whether US buyers are eligible... ANY information? I would be THRILLED if there was a warranty... I am always nervous to spend this much money on something that I don't have a warranty on...

Which S3 Frontier Version Should I Buy?

Hi All
I am in the UK and am about to buy the S3 Frontier... but my question is this - there seems to be at least 3 variants that I can find mentioned on the web - UK / US / International. In the UK the price on the UK device is about $400 and the US version is $299. I can get the UK model from a high street shop or online... but I also see much cheaper version on eBay... as low as $250. I checked the part number of one of the eBay ones and it is SM-R760NDAAXAR. What I cant seem to find is a detailed comparison of the UK, US and International Version.
The information I can find is conflicting and some say that the US version is LTE - which I understand means that it has a hard wired SIM card inside so it can connect to the cellular network directly with no phone. I think the UK one doesn't have this feature... which TBH I am not worried about.
I have also read that if I buy the US version I wont be able to get Android Pay working, etc. I have also read that if I get the International version it will update to UK via software update when it syncs with my S7.
Can anyone tell me if there is any issues with buying an out-of-region device as its tempting because they are about half the price than on the high street here in the UK.
Thanks in advance
Slimat
You should be able to flash SM-R760NDAAXAR with UK firmware but I'm not sure if Samsung Pay will be active.

General Tencent version bad service in US with T-Mobile

So I ordered the ROG Phone 5 Tencent version by mistake and I couldn't cancel it in time before they shipped it. I tried out the phone upon receiving it even though I had already read about the issues with 5G connectivity in the US. Testing out the bands with LTE Connectivity it obviously will not connect to any of T-Mobile's 5G bands in the US and on top it will only connect band 4 of tmobiles 4GLTE which is quite slower than band 66. I tested it side by side with my old Galaxy Note 8 and the note 8 was consistently getting better speeds of about 60/5 on band 66 while the tencent ROG phone 5 was only getting about 25-30 download at most on band 4. I promptly created a return order and bought the international version from NGP.
So in summary for those wondering, the tencent ROG phone 5 does not have the bands needed for a phone at this price point.
Check out this link for an accurate list of bands for the China version and then the international version.
Will Asus Rog Phone 5 work in USA?
In this page we are going to show you the compatibility of Asus Rog Phone 5 with the mobile networks of USA and with the telephony operators that provide service in USA.
www.kimovil.com
I will be receiving my international version in 2 days and will be testing the mobile bands in the Los Angeles area. Hoping for 5G!!
Please let us know of your findings as im getting ready to buy the international version from the same place! and am also using T-Mobile
Also, does anyone have an info on an official USA launch? (not carrier held but like ASUS selling the phone on the USA e store website)
A how to guide for getting bad service?

It's going to be hit or miss, depending on location.
So I ordered the international version literally 2 days before the USA version came out to just find out that it's the exact same **** as the Tencent version. NO 5G on T-Mobile and it uses the slowest bands for 4GLTE. My LTE speed in the LA area is an abysmal 27mb download and a 9mb upload. What an absolute nightmare this has been. The one time I try to go something besides Samsung or Apple.
Does anyone know what the restocking fee's are on these returns?

i thought it says its nothing if the return is because youre having connection/network issues, i just ordered the USA version, ill let you know how that one behaves when it arrives on saturday
i have a new sim card waiting for the phone when it arrives (supposedly you need a new sim to use 5g on tmobile)

True that. I have the Tencent on Metro I get LTE but no 5g, I love this phone I have no issues with it but 5G would be awesome. They say they use the same service but really they don't they're both different frequencies I'm eager to try that new T-Mobile SIM card though since my phone is dual SIM I think I might go ahead and get the T-Mobile service with the SIM card I'll report back that you guys know how it goes thinking about doing it this coming week.

· Failure of network compatibility in the area – customers are responsible to contact their service provider for the availability of compatible network in the area prior to purchasing the phone. Actually, the international version is basically the same as the US version without warranty coverage.
If they are the same, it doesn't make sense to eat the restocking fee then. Rotary88, are you using a current SIM like the other user mentioned? Hopefully when they get their phone and test on saturday they get better results.
I purchased mine from the US store this morning (I don't need 512gb storage or 18gb ram, and the other extras will never get used lol). The price point of the tencent versions are attractive for sure but I have heard nothing but issues around the WW converted models.
If it turns out that all versions (US, international, CN) have the same issues maybe I will return the US and save some dollars.
I'm just rambling here, good luck Rotary88

ah must have remembered wrong. i don't think they're the same bandwise, for instance from what i understand the international is the C variant and doesn't support band 71 or 66 but this is listed as supported on the USA e-store for the USA phone. in fact every band except the mmWave that both ATT and T-Mobile use is listed on the USA versions purchase page
i did simply my check tho and ignored the fact that the shop page doesn't list 2g/3g/5g bands explicitly and just checked for a matching number, but i imagine thats what they meant, considering the page was just created and for example maybe they found theres no need to list n41 and 41 essentially listing 41 twice.
i have no phone atm, which maybe you can tell since my posts lack any auto correct, so really hoping for the best
either way i have a USA version coming on saturday and ill let everyone know of the results
So I just swapped out my old sim for a new T-Mobile SIM and its the same result with the international and also tencent variant ASUS_I005DA. Even though version A supposedly supports all the right bands, No T-Mobile 5G and also crippled LTE. This seems like something to do with their network simply not recognizing the device or allowing it to use other bands. After doing some research it seems the device also has to be carrier supported in order to connect to their extended LTE and 5G bands.
From what I've read here on the forums, calling them is a waste of time. I guess all I can do is wait to see if even the US "variants" get 5G/LTE but I somehow am doubting it since they seem identical to the international variant. I'm stuck with a $1000 gimped phone until T-Mobile decides to support it on their network.

Did you contact ASUS ? do you have and official documentation / site where they say which version is tencent / Global / US ?
I had bought the tencent version - i005DA was mentioned prominently in the packaging.. and 'tencent games' was printed on the back of the phone.
Neither T-mobile nor AT&T worked reliably - actually I was barely ever getting a signal.
I returned that.one . .and got myself a global variant - asus_i005DC is mentioned in the packaging.
Now everything works fine - I have seen the 5G symbol, but not really great speeds, but that could be because of my area.

this would imply the last letter in the model number is not necessarily the version the phone corresponds to, for every model even your asus_i005DC

$300 less means a Tencent flashed to WW, or at least it did for mine. The idiot seller didn't realize the bands aren't controlled by the software, but PayPal called it "materially similar" and denied the refund. Oh well.
