I drive a truck, I need a 6ft cable to reach my phone. I have seen from the posts here that quality and real functionality can vary greatly for what seems to be the same things. What brand or even be link specific to a high quality cable. I'll be using the Belkin car charger.
Just grab a ul type c to type a and grab a a-male to a-female extension.
The USB extension will come in handy one day I'm sure, and it's nice to have a a-c cable
I've always had good luck with my choetech cables
Tried the cheotech 6ft cable..... it lasted 4 days and quit working.
Still looking for a long high quality cable. Using the one that came with the phone for now but it is too short for the way I want to arrange things in the truck.

They have good customer service email them and they'll send you a new cable. Duds happen, I've had a bunch of their cables with nary a problem.
I just bought a 6ft cable from AmazonBasics. No complaints about it. I believe they have a 9ft cable too.
Just get a normal usb A extension.
I have used this one for almost two years and it's worked very well for me, I have used it to only charge, and used it plugged into the computer on occasion and has worked flawlessly. It's braided and solid, 10 ft is a bit longer than you mentioned but I find the extra length helps.

Anker makes some quality cables and they make a 10ft cable that I have been using forever:
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerL...d=1522244932&sr=8-4&keywords=anker+usb+c+10ft
I have been using this one for a while now - seems really sturdy and has worked really well. Plus, you know, different colors. This one is 10' but I believe they make them in different lengths. BEst of luck, enjoy your phone!

Get one that is approved by Benson Leung on Amazon. He regularly tests USB-C cables and chargers and posts reviews on Amazon. I've bought cables he recommended and have had no issues with them.
Go to 5below and buy this https://www.fivebelow.com/tech/cabl...c-sync-and-charge-metallic-braided-cable.html
I bought one for behind the bed and it's high quality and even supports Fast charging. That reminds me I need to go and get 2 more

Well, he used to. His last public review was apparently made on May 22, 2017. Not sure why he stopped posting. Probably because it was unpaid work and he's gotta have a life outside working for Google.

Little confused on what I need for my new phone coming Friday. Obviously, I have a host of Micro USB cables that I'd like to be able to use with my new phone. I assume there must be some adapter that is recommended.
I also need a cable to run from an Anker charger to my new phone.
Thanks!
Confused or not you really should spend some time reading through the other threads that are already here.
The situation has started to clear up quite a bit but all the info is already here.
I started to read through one of the threads but I just got more confused. Lots of talk about what wouldn't work and the one plus one cables being bad.
I'd be happy to research more on my own, if you could point me in the direction of a quality thread or post.
Thanks
Essentially, some companies are producing USB Type-A to USB Type-C cables that don't meet the standards set out by the USB Consortium (made up of Google, Apple, and many other tech companies). These cables that don't meet the specification could allow a device (such as your phone) to try to pull too much current from a charger, USB port, or USB hub and thus damage them. Worst case scenario, they cause a charger to overheat and start a fire!
SO, your best bet is to buy USB Type-A to USB Type-C cables directly from Google or any of the cables Benson Leung (a Google engineer) has reviewed highly. It doesn't matter if they're USB 2.0, 3.0, or 3.1 as the Nexus 6P only supports the slower USB 2.0 speeds and it's all compatible!
Are there any certified adapters or recommendations on something that converts a Micro USB end to a Type-C end? I'd prefer to just extend the cables I already have rather than replace them.
I sadly have not seen a verified adapter yet. You could take a chance on buying some that haven't been disqualified and test them with this app, and return them if they fail. Otherwise, some people are keeping track of verified accessories on this spreadsheet and someone might find good adapters.

I looked through his profile and all of the reviews he's done and none of the adapters have met specifications. You might be better off going with cables instead of adapters.
Thanks you were both very helpful!
All this info above is true. But just an FYI I've had my phone for about a month and only used the micro USB to c adapters (other than a couple times to test with the googled one ) since my case I got had the port too small for the Google charger to fit through and I've never had any issues. The charger or phone doesn't get any hotter or warmer. The phone does charge slower than the Google charger, but that's because the power adapters I'm using are about 1500mah bricks.
Just wanted to chime in that I was not able to get any of my microusb OTG cables working using an adapter. (2 different microusb F to usb-C M adapters purchased through Aliexpress) Perhaps I was just unlucky, though.
They seem to work for connecting to a computer. I also see videos from XDA's youtube channel where they use one of those adapters for connecting a 6p to a computer.
Strangely, one of the adapters shows that it's compliant through the aforementioned app!
The cables/adapters that are out of specification can work fine; but it all depends on how your devices, chargers, and hubs handle the incorrect cable. While you might get lucky and it'll work fine, you might also get unlucky!
Why take a chance? And why support companies that don't follow the rules?

This.
It also baffles me why people are so willing to shell out $500+ for a new phone, but scream bloody murder when having to pay a little more for compliant cables / adapters / chargers.

While I went for the certified cables, most complain because we're spending 10+ on a cable we're used to buying for 4 or 5 bucks... For the longer cord.

Yes you have a valid point except that there are no certified adapters yet as far as I know. Which means for someone like me it's not about money, but it's about being able to use micro USB still since practically every other devices I have uses that still. Ie tablet, controllers, remotes.

We all have different scenarios. I like to have at minimum a charger in car, bedroom, living room, computer desk, bathroom with shower, work, kitchen and battery pack in backpack. I'm not carrying around an extra cable for each place.

I know where you are coming from, that's one of the reasons why I sold all of my mirco USB phones/tablets (my Nexus 6 and Shield Tablet LTE). I have 1 good USB-A to USB-C cable 2 USB C-C wall chargers, and a USB C battery pack along with 4 C-C cables.

I have a feeling that the Google chargers will be the best quality ones you can get. I have both of the Google chargers - the single port and dual port - and have had great results with both.
I saw a few type c chargers from chotech on amazon.com the other day. No clue if they are any good though.

Please refer to these 2 OP's for certified Type-C and Type-A to Type-C cables and discussion:

Anyone who owns a nexus 6p and has tried to buy a longer usb a-c cable than the 6 inch cable that Google provide will know just how hard it is to find a good quality cable that meets the new usb-c standard and won't potentially fry there charging device by trying to pull 3 amps.
Google prevent the usb a-c cables from damaging charging devices by placing a 56 kohm resister in the usb c end of the cable and many cheap cables have failed to do this or they use the wrong value of resistor, there is a simple free app that allows nexus 6p owners to check cables to ensure they are safe to use. I am happy to report that these cables pass the safety checks and are safe to use with nexus 6p devices.
These particular cables are very well presented in a functional box, the larger of the two cables comes with a Velcro strap to help keep it from tangling very handy if your traveling or don't keep your cables constantly plugged in, this is a nice little touch from Choetech and adds to the premium feel of these cables.
Both cables feel like they're thick enough to withstand alot of heavy use and will hopefully last a long time, I tested both cables with my laptop and was getting good data transfer speeds and I have tested both with numerous different chargers and also get good charging speeds, very comparable to that of the Google provided cable.
I am very happy with these cables and hope to get alot of use out of them, I would quite happily recommended these to anyone after a usb a-c cable, I have seen many cables that are dearer than this for just one cable, here you get two really good quality cables for a value price. I got these cables at a discounted price for a honest unbiased review but I would quite happily pay full price for these.

Have you by chance checked any other cables from usb-a to c that you have came across that you would recommend ? If you just use the app provided that means it is safe ?
Yes I also own a belkin 2m usb a-c cable that is very good but no better than the Choetech cables, the belkin cost me £15 though for just one cable as it was an emergency buy from maplins. I bought a cheap eBay cable originally, it worked with my old car charger but then my phone refused to charge from the Google usb c charger that night. A reboot fixed this issue but some research led me to discover the issue with usb a-c cables.
Because of the price and quality I highly recommend the Choetech cables.
Yes the checkr app let's you know if the cable is safe to use. You have to make sure it is connected to a computer / laptop for the app to work though, it won't work with a charging device.
I also get this cable bundle to review at price £0.99. It seems still available for review now. You can also apply one at a good price from Choetech official website: http://www.choetech.com/Support-review.html
I went for the 3.3ft USB-C to USB-A + 3.3ft USB-C to USB-C pack to go work with my Nexus 6P. Cables are a great length and I can leave it charging in the car while my passenger is using the phone at the same time. I am very happy with mine.

Yeah I also went for this combo pack. The cables are great and help me out around the house and in my car. The type C is in my car permanently from now on. Works great with their in car charger and charges the phone up in no time. The other one is in my work bag for emergencies. Definitely top quality products quality and worth getting.
A while back I won a Choetech wall type C wall charger through XDA and Choetech. Those looking for an additional wall charger for their Nexus 6P or 5X should look no further. This one performs just as well as the original OEM version from Huawei. Came well packed in a small, sturdy cardboard box. Compact form factor makes it easy to carry around if you want to. My only wish is that it came with a cable but I can't quibble since I got the charger for free. Have been using it regularly for the last couple of months with no issues at all. Current Amazon price is $13.99
Go for it!
same here! I won one and it's pretty amazing, zero complaints from me. also super tiny
I have owned that charger from december. Its really great and as OP said it performs just as OEM charger. Well used money for me. There isn't even many of chargers like that available.
Just purchased 2 off amazon with USB to type C cables for 14.99.just make sure you pick the one with the Type C end cuz you can also get the micro USB if you don't choose...so far charge my phone fast as heck...
You're saying this thing can charge 5V/3A even though it uses a USB-A connection?

No, there is a type-c variant too.
Hi everyone,
So I am here again to quickly give my thoughts on another CHOETECH accessory, this time it is their USB C to USB 3.0 cables.
I have had a cable previously from Rankie, but have found the build quality to not be as sturdy as the CHOETECH ones. These ones are flexible, feel strong with their braided cables, and the design is excellent and looks very professional, very nice on the eye to others who may see them.
The data transfer is fast, as you would expect from USB 3.0! The charging is on par with other cables.
I have attached the link here for my review on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R1YBGPQVRSGV75/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B01LYW4WIY&channel=detail-glance&nodeID=560798&store=electronics, and also the link for the product itself https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01LYW4WIY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Hope I have helped some of you out, and if any of you have any questions for things I may not have covered, then I shall be pleased to help you out!
I prefer Anker Type-C cable, then Tronsmart next.
It will break after a few months.
I too have received these at a discounted price to review and must say the following:
These cables from Choetech are again of amazing quality. Especially as they are braided. I love the fact they came in two different colours meaning one matches my Nexus 6P in black and the other matches my Pixel C in grey. They are a good length to use at a desk and have good file transfer speeds to a computer when plugged in via USB 3. The charge rate isn't as quick as USB C to C but that is to be expected, however do not let that fool you, they still charge pretty quick although usb charge booster on my motherboard may be helping with that more than anything, but it's comforting to know these cables can handle the extra power sent down by my motherboard. I highly recommend these cables and would buy them again especially from Choetech.
Just a word of warning, I bought accessories from their official Aliexpress shop including USB-C to USB-C cable and car charger. While using the two I managed to destroy USB port on my Nexus 6P.
I plugged the cable as I was leaving a concert day before yesterday and as I was driving home I started to smell something like electric parts burning. At first I thought that it is the smell of the brushes on my car warmer blower. Blower has been making strange noises lately. But as the smell started to get more intense, I was really worried that my car is going to burn. I unlocked my 6P and noticed that the battery was not charging and yanked the cable. The plastics on the cable were like butter and pretty hot! I panicked and pulled the cable out, disconnected the charger and continued to home. It was late in the evening and I couldn´t see what had happened to my phone.
As I got home I tried to charge my phone and it didn´t charge. I noticed that battery has gone from 87% to 56% in about hour. The backside of my phone was melted little and there was damage around the USB port.
Here is few hazy pictures i took with my wifes potato:

I asked about this from Choetech via Aliexpress and they were sorry. They asked if I wanted another cable to substitute the melted one. I haven´t replied yet.

Never heard of the Aliexpress shop always bought them from Amazon. Sorry to hear about your device, however its probably more likely the charger than the cable as i've been using 3 of these cables and had no issues over the last few months now.

Aliexpress is a small time business somewhere around far East.... You should try it sometimes.
I was using Choetech charger atm, which I bought on same order with the cable. I can´t blame any other than Choetech for destroying the phone.
So I didn't realize that this cable was USB C to USB C, I am coming from the HTC 10 which is USB-C Male to USB-A Male. I need a 6 foot cable, I am looking for recommendations since I have heard that some these USB C cables can be flaky.
Based on some articles I’ve read at arstechnica, they look to recommend this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AS8U8PU/?tag=arstech20-20

My personal favorite Type-C cable is Blitzwolf. It's Benson Approved, durable, beautiful, and very good quality. I have 2 8ft Blitzwolf cables and have used only one for the past 3 months. I keep is in my pocket, I'm not super rough with stuff but it's pretty durable for the few times I stepped on it and i usualy carry it coiled in my pocket on my knee or in my backpack. I honestly couldn't ask for a better cable.
I'll admit, 8ft i ridiculously long and probably unnecessary for regular use. But it's amazing.
Blitzwolf!

I can vouch for the quality of Anker cables and chargers, I've been rocking them since the v20 released. Zero issues, I am usually rough with my stuff and Anker holds up.
I use Anker products. Always good.
Another vote for Anker PowerLine cables...
My Verizon V30 came with an A to C cable as well as a C to C cable.
My TMobile variant came with only the usb a to c. Kind of odd that different variants came with different cables. I also have been using Anker power line braided cable ??

Even weirder is that some variants come with both an a-c and c-c.

I believe so. Aren't they also the only carrier offering the V30+? If so, I believe they're related...
Firstly , .... Anker cables are solid , its all I use
Also , 1 meter or shorter if you are looking for the data speeds to be the fastest.
Just got the V30 for my girl (from AT&T) and was surprised at how little came with it. Just the charger and c-c cord. I am a Samsung guy and hell there is always a boat load of goodies in the box. Just was interesting to see how LG does things.

Anker powerline+ cables! I have the 6ft cable and it Fastcharges perfectly. Also comes with lifetime warranty so save the box/serialnr sticker.
Its 12 dollars for a 2pack so the price is good.

Edit: I just realised this thread is 2 months old lol.... anyways great cables!
Blitzwolf cables are amazing and very worth the cost. I've been very rough on mine for testing for a little more than 6months and it's still amazing.
I bought it because it looked like good quality and was on the Benson Approved list, seems the list (website) is gone now. But i bought 2 of the 8ft cables and only use one to see how long it lasts under regular use with moderate abuse.
Blitzwolf cables are available on Amazon.
