Hi,
I'm currently on holiday so I put my phone on airplane mode quite a lot. Quite often when I enable my wifi my phone does a soft reboot. Today it happened about 3 times while searching for wifi. The notification bar also stay on dark mode after trying. Anyone seen/experienced this before?

Hi all,
I just got a Droid 2 Global today and I notice if you leave it alone for a while (which is hard to do with a new phone) the WiFi will turn itself off. The first thing I do with new Android phones is turn the WiFi Sleep Policy to "Never". And that is what I did today, but it still appears to be sleeping.
When I wake the phone I notice that the WiFi is off (Both up in the notification bar and the widget is dark) and the 3G is off as well. The only that is showing is bars. In about 5 seconds the WiFi will turn back on and connect.
Now this only happens if I don't play with the phone for a while. Turning the screen off and back on the WiFi will be on like normal.
As this annoys me that it is doing it, it is the 3G is off at this time as well. Which means the phone isn't getting any data during the period that it is off. Which isn't good since I rely on Google Voice for all of my texting, which won't come in unless there is a internet connection.
Any help on this will be great,
Thanks
I did find out what was going wrong last night. In Settings>Battery Manager>Battery Mode it was set to Nighttime saver. That would have been bad because I work 3rd shift and I'm up and using this mainly at night.
I have tried a few auto turn off apps on my transformer while screen is off but WIFI still stays on. These Apps work well on My Samsung galaxy.
Another thing I noticed is that everytime I set the WIFI disconnect policy to turn off wifi when screen is off. The setting goes back to "never". Not sure how it gets reset, and maybe thats why these apps do not work.
Any ideas?
revolver parts wit revolver rom, the revolver parts app let you turn of wifi automatic
I am on stock rom for now, until I read thru all of the forum and get comfortable with switching rom. I am rooted atleast and have CWM installed.
So is there any other app?
Auto airplane mode from the market. It turned off for me.
Try with Tasker
will try auto airplane mode but I need something that turns off wifi when screen goes off.
Also, afraid to buy tasker before I know it works.

Click to collapse
Auto Airplane Mode will turn WiFi off when screen shut off.
I use it, work great. The one I use for some reason is not in the market any more
but there are others.
TRIED auto airplane and did not work.
I think the issue is that something always changes the setting to never turn wifi off . Instead of what I keep on setting it to disable wifi when screen is off.
Is there a app that is changing the wifi policy settings>?
green power app fixed my problem. found this out in another thread.
I'm using tasker with a profile to turn airplane mode on 5 minutes after display goes down. It doesn't sleep if there are certain apps which require internet connection (tunein radio for example) and turns off airplane mode for 1 minute every 30 minutes.
I'd never used tasker before, i own an Android phone too, but i found it simply amazing!
Seems like you have an app that wants to keep wifi on. If I were you, I'd try to get to the bottom of this and figure out which app is causing this issue to occur. In fact, the culprit sounds fishy.
Hi guys, i noticed an irritating problem with my One S after a few days of usage. My WiFi turns on at random, and remains on when my phone is in sleep mode. This occurs when I have 3G on. I have turned off using WiFi in sleep mode.
Anything else I can do? I feel like this takes a toll on my battery life.
I wouldn't worry too much about wifi if you just got the phone.
While its connected it shouldn't use up the battery. Afaik
It's the searching that uses battery.
yeah my wifi is on 24/7 i dont experience any drain through it..
you could put a toggle widget on one of your screens to turn it on / off.
it shouldnt be switching itself on it you manually turned it off
But it does exactly that! It turns itself on even after I have manually toggled it off. irritating as it searches for open networks even if I have data on. How do I resolve this hmmm
Maybe Tasker would help?
toggled airplane mode from quick tiles and the switch is not a solid color but faded and i can make calls so is not real airlpane mode
also cannot turn off airplane from quick tile-only from settings
if i enable airplane mode and restart the phone then the quick tile color is solid and the airplane mode is properly enabled but when i turn off from settings cannot find the network so i must restart phone
i think is a bug on last 2 security updates
anybody has this problem?
everybody with note 10/plus please check if you have the problem and report here
also check this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10+/help/n9750-stuck-airplane-mode-help-t4000119
went to store and the same with their unit
Hi AndrOmega
I have the exact same problem on my A8.
Although the icon says the phone is in airplane mode, the data and the network are still active.
It appeared after the last security update.
The mobile data can be switched off from the quick tiles board but is there a way to deactivate the network connection independently from the airplane button?
Cheers
Frederic
No problem on my note 10 with latest security update
The airplane mode works well with the quick toggle
after update to android 10 is back to normal
Still issue on A8 2018
Hi again,
I come back on this thread since it seems that Samsung has no intention to upgrade A8 2018 to Android 10. So I am still stuck with my issue on airplane mode.
Anyone has a trick for this?
Thanks in advance
Fred
Any more info on what causes the problem, and how to solve it?
I am going crazy with Watch 4 Classic.
every time I turn it on the wifi turns on automaticly although it is turned off before i turn off the watch (it always gives a pop up saying Wifi(Auto) whether i turn on or off.
I tried factory reset but the problem happened again
I had galaxy watch 3 and there were options of on/off/auto
I need to turn it off permanently and only works when i turn on.
thats beside the laggy disappointing performance. The watch is literally not usable for at least 3-5 minutes after turning on
Any help
Thanks
I found the problem....
It was the ADB debug over wifi enabled that keeps turning on the wifi with every boot
Thank you for this hint. I was just about to post the same. I found abnormal decrease of battery stamina - that was the reason.
