So, I've had this phone for almost a week and I am sitting here waiting for the July Security update.
Otherwise, I have to say Xfinity Mobile is so far a great service, using Verizon network without the cost.
Only other issue is my wife's S8 has the VoLTE option and I don't. I think Xfinity Mobile needs to work on their updates and how they are applied.
Xfinity Mobile doesn't have VoLTE as far as I know. If you're really wanting the update ASAP, you could always flash the US unlocked version.

That is Samsung's July update. "Android security patch level: June 1, 2017" because Samsung is one month behind Android's release schedule. Bottom line, you're on the latest and greatest.
Awesome, thank you for clarifying. I've been on custom roms for years, and got used to quick security updates
I'm using an Xfinity Mobile S8 on T-Mobile. The service was underwhelming for me and I don't live in a Comcast dense area to benefit from Xfinitywifi. I have VoLTE but I'm considering flashing the T-Mobile build to get wifi calling. So far I have no real complaints, may upgrade to the S8+ for the battery though.

No particular difference in my area. When I get closer to the city they're all the same.
It's that I'd hit the hard 20GB cap every month. T-Mobile gives 28GB before capping but I've yet to feel it despite averaging 29-30GB per month.

You do realize that they'll be selling it for about 600 bucks, right? Their N4 is currently being sold outright at $427.99, a gigantic markup from the actual MSRP.
Avoid buying a Nexus from T-Mobile at all costs, unless you're really desperate to spread the payments out. Either way, you're looking at 600 bucks.
Will the T-Mobile marked up version support Wi-Fi calling? That feature was a boon when I was overseas (or in flight) and called home via wifi.

That's my question too. It would be worth a new 2 year commitment if I could get wifi calling.
I'm also waiting for Tmobile to 'force' me into a family simple choice plan with some kind of incentive.

I had asked around in some threads to find out if that was true awhile ago. It's because the phone was meant to be unlocked (Tmobile locked it) that they couldn't put it on. It's just not compatible.

Got the update. 5.1.1. Added the Android Security Patch date im About Phonee. Tried to activate wifi calling but it keeps saying try again later. There are a few visual tweaks as well. I'm not super versed on emojis but since they are supposed to come with 5.1.2 I assume they are not included (I assume Samsung also has to make there awful version of them)
EDIT: figured it out. I had something disabled with package disabler that prevented it from being setup. I re-enabled all packages then worked fine then re-disabled the same ones. Working on figuring out the specific one.
I took the update and foxfi is still working on my phone. Have unlimited data also

Process of elimination has told me it has to do with the Verizon Login (red square with padlock and key in PackageDisabler) com.motricity.verizon.ssodownloadable that may be the culprit. But I was going by if it would let me update my address location for e911 since I had it activated. Hopefully that works for them!

Black friday was after the cut off, even though the date was 11/15 for the $20 fee it was really 11/14 any sims activated on 11/15 were charged. Anyone who upgraded before 11/14 should be fine until their contract expires...Verizon even said so in their press release. The $20 isn't so bad when you think about it, you can now have unlimited minutes with wifi calling and you can do DPP upgrades now which beats the hell out of paying full price for a phone.
I also renewed my contract on early November and locked in the same $29.99 pricing. VZW sent an email couple months back warning unlimited customers that this would happened on 11/15. My bill is still showing me the same price. Foxfi also works on the latest software update!

I'm really not interested in root or unlocking the bootloader on this. There's really no need that I can see. Everything works excellent as is and I'm tired of not being able to use tap and pay along with other apps that don't work with root. All so i can have my clock centred? Or run some hack rom with all the LG system apps removed because yoy know... "Debloated". I have a nexus 6p for when i want to run something custom. For the first time in years i don't feel the need to root and having themes is good enough for me.

I'm on the fence as to whether I want to switch over to Freedom Mobile, for two reasons:
1. Currently, there's no unlocked bootloader for H915.
2. Freedom mobile network coverage / reception quality.
Hearing that you're getting better network service is definitely good news.

1. I agree, but I'm hopeful.
2. I'm going back to work today. I'll post what it's like there. Work in Etobicoke/Mississauga in a big warehouse. Garbage reception before. I'll let you know how the new lte is with the H915.
The price of the plan is too good, and my previous oneplus one which had water damage was becoming a safety concern. Battery was puffy out so much that the screen was unglued it's self. So I had to do something.
I just switched over to Freedom myself from Rogers. Was paying $120 a month for 3GBs, unlimited calling, text etc. And I'm on the $30 plan with the same features and so far it's been good to me. Currently on my 6P as im waiting for the next shipment of V20s to come in.

I'm happy with it. It's basicly a Galaxy Note 7 without the self-combustion feature. I'll be a whole lot happier with it once I've got root access. My plan is the their $55 everywhere package which included 2400 min and 1GB, on all roaming networks in Canada and US. Their network is a little spotty, but since I can switch over to a roaming network when this happens, I'm happy. I was previously with Bell at $110/month. For a plan with more more features at half the cost, I'll take a spotty network.

Yea I ended up getting one myself earlier this month. It really does remind of a Note 7 too. I love the whole mini screen up top. Certainly helps with the multitasking since I do a lot of that. The only reeaaaal complaint I have about it is the quality of the camera. Pictures don't seem to be coming out as good as what others are getting. I've already updated the firmware (Description of it said "Improved Camera quality") so I thought it would get better but it hasn't.

I have been seeing speeds between MD and VA go up to 100/30. But its been spotty. They definitely have their priority towers but without a doubt they are doing upgrades. I am hoping this new technology will help with weak spots more than I care about the speeds personally. My coverage in my home dropped during these upgrades. I have even had my S8+ ask if I wanted to make a wifi call when I lost signal all together. I live between three freaking towers. Has been better after the updates.

I am running stock Verizon S8+. It has taken the updates this week but I have been getting the 100/30 +/- for about 3-4 weeks in MD and DC, and the last week or two here in spots of Central VA. I have not rooted as I just didn't see the reason to yet, so these are straight numbers.

I pre-ordered unlocked version as well but now I'm having second thoughts because I will be losing VoLTE, WiFi Calling and visual VM.
Is it possible to get these features on unlocked versions?
Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
The phone should provision itself when you put in the sim card. What you get out of that is hard to say as they only provision what they support but again, Lisa mentioned that 5G worked on both AT&T and Tmo, VoLTE worked on both, cant remember if she mentioned calling or visual. She did say something to the effect that everything was working but that was a few days ago and I don't recall it exact. I'm on Fi and and my phones always provision up just fine.

I am more interested if the question from original poster is answered. Will the hot spot work on unlocked US version? I am using it every day really heavily. I guess it depends on what plan you are on. On my original 9G plan the hotspot just counted towards the 9G of data.

Thank you, can you tell me what speeds you're getting and are you getting 5G? On my international unlocked Note 20 Ultra there is one AT&T band missing and I am getting horrible internet speeds and coverage...
